Disclaimer: I haven't read the rest of this series, but had no problem following the story. The author did a good job of providing history seamlessly so it didn't take pull me out of the story. I thought the premise was a great twist on the usual vampire stories with the addition of vampire/wizard partnerships. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of romance in the book, both with the established partnerships and the possible new partnerships, as well as the well written mystery. The story wasn't rushed and allowed me to enjoy the different aspects of it.

The characters were fleshed out and the histories of them given in an organic, natural way. They also grew as the story went along, which keeps it interesting.

In summary, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would (always a good thing), and recommend it to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance story with an interesting twist.
