When you put your damn glasses on, read the fine print and realize the book you've just been accepted for on Netgalley is nearly 800 pages long.
I don't know if I can do this one, folks. I'll give it another try in a few weeks . . .
Nope, this book is too long, too meandering and too cruel. I will never finish it. Sorry Netgalley. I suck and I need better glasses. But you are making me put a star rating so here goes. 2 stars for the first 100 or so pages I read. I can't rate the rest because I didn't read it.
Lustmord: anatomy of a serial butcher by kirk Alex.
Cecil Omar Biggs is not your average man of the cloth. By day, he appears to be a hardworking preacher, but once night descends upon the quiet Southern California neighborhood where Biggs resides, his darker self emerges. Living a double life as a sex fiend and brutal murderer, he enjoys luring innocent victims into his basement lair by any means possible. Converting an old house into a church, Biggs becomes the perfect wolf in sheep’s clothing, which also puts him in the ideal position to attract his unsuspecting prey.
Good read with good characters. Although a long book I got through it. He was sick. But I had to read on. 4*. Netgalley and weaponry co-op.
Full of violence and gore, this book is not for everyone. But for those into graphic violence and blood, it is an excellent choice to read. I can't say that the main character, Cecil, is great or a hero, nor will you hope the best for him, but you will find him interesting. Strangely, there is a method to his madness and you will understand why he does what he does. I liked it, but then again, I love horror movies, especially slasher flicks and very violent ones. If you like those, this just may be for you.
I normally appreciate disturbing horror, but this one wasn't for me. I'm sure this book has its audience. .
That is probably the scariest cover I’ve ever seen! Seriously, this is terrifying. It was enough to get me to pick up this book when I was in the mood for something creepy. And thankfully, I got exactly what I was looking for. I don’t want to give too much away, but if you’re searching for a dark and twisty book that will have you constantly looking over your shoulder, this is the one! It’s got a dungeon of doom! What more could you want?!
One of the most gruesome books I have ever read. I understand the point that is how these serial killers think but I honestly couldnt stand many of the scenes throughout the book. I do enjoy reading horror, this was a tough book to read through very very gruesome and sickening at points. Biggs is a psycho and I hope that in book two (which I won't read) I hope he's caught and put to death for everything he did in this book.
Overall I think it was just too much for me personally since it went into explicit detail, which is why I will not continue with book two.
