Steve is Penelope Bonnard's story, the sister of Tyler (from Tyler). It has a similar plot and many intersections with Tyler. For one, Penelope and Steve were torn apart by the same thing that tore apart Tyler and Katie. Penelope has a huge secret that Steve knows, but he's waiting for her to reveal it to him. She's only back because Tyler's been in a serious motorcycle accident, she didn't come back for Steve, unfortunately for Steve.

Steve is just as emotional as Tyler, and Steve and Penelope share the same kind of chemistry that Tyler and Katie share. I can't say that I like Penelope any more than I like Tyler, in fact, I like her even less. She was so wishy washy with Steve, I really felt his pain when she jerked him around so much. Of course, she was going something even more emotionally significant than what Tyler went through, but still, it doesn't excuse her obnoxious behavior. I am honestly surprised he put up with her bs as long as he did.

I wish Steve had an epilogue, but I would guess that what was revealed about Penelope does not really lend itself to an epilogue far into the future so I guess I can understand why Steve ended the way it did, even if it was so abrupt. The only reason I didn't rate Steve even lower is because I really like Steve. I liked him in Tyler, and was really excited to read his story. I'm glad he got his love, but just wish it would have been with someone more worth him than Penelope.
