This story was a wonderful blend of troubled soldier turned Duke and headstrong lady with a scandalous secret finding love that I hardly know where to start!

To begin with, it is a rare occurrence that an author captures the nuances of PTSD in such a way that shows how sudden and all consuming an "episode" can be. The fact that Chloe was not only able to recognize what was going on with him, but took it upon herself to find ways of helping him fight his demons says a lot about her character. In fact that is something I can say about all of these characters - they were complex and their parts in the story well executed. I loved watching Micheal and Chloe navigate the complexities not only of their respective pasts, but of the growing attraction between them.

The only thing that I can say about this story that may not appeal to some people is the fact that it does contain scenes of a sexual nature that happen outside of wedlock. These particular scenes are not everyone's cup of tea, but they can be just as easily skipped over without missing anything.

Overall, believe this story will appeal to those who enjoy a well written historical romance. I would read more from this author!

Chloe Somerton has come a long way. She has survived more than her share of scandal and still managed to make it out unscathed. Now all Chloe wants is to find the perfect man and settle down. Only one thing stands in her way of true happiness... Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron.

Michael knows secrets about Chloe that could ruin her in the eyes of the ton. When his charge announces that he plans to wed Chloe, Michael becomes determined to prevent that from happening. What Michael isn't counting on is that the more time he spends with Chloe, the more he begins to like her. Suddenly, Michael finds himself wanting to discover all of Chloe's secrets. Maybe there is more to her than he first thought!

THE DUKE MEETS HIS MATCH is sadly the third and final book in author Tina Gabrielle's INFAMOUS SOMERTONS series. It can be read as a standalone, but I myself am going to pick up books one and two to read as well since I've never read them. If AN ARTFUL SEDUCTION and REAL EARLS BREAK THE RULES are half as good as THE DUKE MEETS HIS MATCH, then I've got a lot of late night reading in store for me. Looking forward to reading more by Ms. Gabrielle.

Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, wants only the best for his best friend’s son, Lord Henry Sefton. When Michael meets the woman who has stolen Henry’s young heart, he recognizes her in an instant. Miss Chloe Somerton is the young woman he saw pickpocketing years before. Although he knows her to be a thief, he cannot deny the attraction that burns inside him.

Michael knew even if he didn’t feel the enormous pull toward Chloe, she wasn’t the right woman for Henry. Chloe has a fire that would be snuffed out by the sweetness and stability Henry would bring her. So what is a man to do but discourage Henry at every turn.

Even with Michael’s attempts to part her and Henry, Chloe can’t stop thinking and wanting the fiery passion the duke fills her with. A glimpse here and there of the real Micheal brings Chloe a deep understanding of him and why she see herself so much in him.

Gabrielle gives us a story of passion, romance, and a thrilling love. The way the two broken pieces of Chloe and Michael fit together in this story if simply marvelous. This is a series I will read over and over again, loving and cherishing it every time.

The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle is Book 3 of The Infamous Somertons Series. While this story is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. This is Michael and Chloe’s story.

Good golly, Ms. Molly....what a read. A beautiful story that just grabs you tight and doesn’t let go. This is one fabulously written historical romance. I loved every minute of it. A must-read!

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

I loved this historical read! Chloe is the last of the Infamous Somertons that has not wed and she is on the hunt for a husband that will give her security. Chloe believe that Henry is the man for her, however Michael, the best friend of Henry’s late father know that she is a fraud and a thief. Can Chloe convince Michael that she is none of those things and what secrets is Michael hiding. This is a fast paced read with lots of drama and emotion, I was hooked from beginning to end. A great read!

Great story about love and compassion. Michael is a war hero who's traumatic nightmares keep him in a state of mind numbing chaos that sometimes overwhelm him even in his waking hours, suspicious and fighting his inner demons caused by the war and the atrocities he witnessed. Chloe a young woman who has been through her own complicated life, a life of poverty and sickness but not without sacrifice.
Chloe and Michael are certainly attracted to each other but Micheal has difficulty accepting this attraction especially since he's trying to expose Chloe as a title grasping young woman.
Well written and with a great understanding of PTSD. No matter what time we live in war has a way of altering a person, that being said this was a sensational story that will pull your heart through the wringer I loved it. Regency fans this one is for you!

I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest unbiased opinion.

Chloe and Michael's story is one not to be missed! The characters in this book are well-developed with depth and substance. The plot is interesting, engaging and had just the right amount of push/pull between Chloe and Michael. Scenery and clothing were described with a richness as to make them easy to picture. I immediately felt for Chloe, who had done some dishonest things in her past to help out her sisters, but is now on the up-and-up and desperately wants to live a simple, peaceful life without having to worry about the trials and tribulations of being poor again. Chloe brings a tranquility to Michael's life that he has been needing and craving, but he stubbornly resists the notion that there could be something true and lasting between them.

Because of this book, I would now like to read the others in this series.

4.5 stars

This is the story of Chloe Somerton, youngest daughter of Jonathan Miller (infamous art forger) and Michael Keswick, Duke of Cameron.

Chloe has secrets, but since her sisters have married and raised their standing, Chloe is determined to marry a man with wealth and title. She has set her cap on young Henry, the new Earl of Sefton, the only impediment to her success is Henry's self imposed guardian, Michael.

Michael recognizes Chloe from years ago and knows part of her shameful secret, there is no way he is going to allow her to get her hooks in Henry. Michael owes Henry's father a debt that he can never repay, he saved Michael's life at Waterloo at the cost of his own. Michael not only suffers from survivors guilt, but he also has "war sickness" (PTSD).

Michael confronts Chloe and warns her away from Henry, but Chloe surprises him when she shows up at his house and tells him that she will not back down. Michael is taken by Chloe and if circumstances were different, he would claim her as his own. He has flashbacks to the war and loses his grasp on reality when he is caught up in one, because of this, he believes he is unfit to be a husband. But he wants Chloe and because of her past, he thinks she would make a perfect mistress.

Events unfold and Michael and Chloe grow closer and eventually embark on an affair. Chloe still wants to marry and Michael is still convinced that he cannot. But when Chloe helps him by getting him to talk about his war experiences, he has hope for the first time that he might be able to have a normal life - with Chloe.

When they are caught in a compromising position by Henry, things spiral out of control and Michael decides that he was right all along, he is unfit.

He breaks things off with Chloe and leaves her broken-hearted. When she decides to leave London, it seems like there will be no HEA for our lovers.

I really liked this story, it is well written, has some steamy love scenes, has some heart breaking moments and a very well done (and hard earned) HEA.

I would be happy to recommend this book, it is third in the Infamous Somertons series, but it could easily be read as a stand alone title.

4.25 stars
Chloe Somerton daughter of an infamous art forger, grew up in poverty when her father fled plus she was also ill so desperate to aid her sisters, she'd picked a pocket to help pay for her medicines. Now circumstances have changed her two older sisters have married into the aristocracy and Chloe is being pursued by Henry the young, wealthy Earl of Sefton. Only his mentor the dark & tortured Duke of Cameron stands in her way. The moment Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, sees Chloe Somerton, he recognizes her as a fraud. In Chloe, Michael finds peace from the memories of war & his ‘episodes’, but he refuses to marry as he thinks he is going mad.
Both Michael & Chloe are suffering & gradually manage to find peace by facing their demons. The attraction between the pair is immediate & sizzles, although they fight it to begin with it eventually combusts. The pace of the book is steady rather than fast but it is still a page turner. The author handles Michael’s affliction really well. Chloe is strong & compassionate as can be seen by her handling of Michael & Emily. This is the third Somerton novel & it could be read as a stand-alone book but the other two books are also very good & would recommend them

I've read the other books in the series and enjoyed them. This is third in a series, but stands well alone. Chloe is the third sister in a family of daughters of a famous art forger. She has plans to marry a lord, then is recognized by his mentor, a Duke, as a girl he'd seen picking pockets. He confronts her, she confronts him, passion ensues delightfully. Not sure it's true to the time period, but it makes for wonderful storytelling! The H and h are well suited and matched. They have chemistry from the get go. A great read,, lots of passion.

Description
The daughter of an infamous art forger, Chloe Somerton grew up poor. Desperate to aid her sisters, she’d picked a pocket…or two. Now circumstances have changed, and Chloe has a chance to marry a young, wealthy lord. Only his mentor—a dark, dangerous duke—stands in her way. The duke knows about her past, and she’ll do anything to keep him from telling.

The moment Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, sees Chloe Somerton, he recognizes her as a fraud. The stunning beauty with sapphire eyes and golden hair now appears to be a proper lady, but he knows better.
What begins as a battle of wills soon escalates into a fierce attraction. In Chloe, Michael finds peace from the memories of war, but he refuses to marry and she won’t settle for anything less.

My Thoughts:
I wish I had read this entire series. If books one and two are as well written as this one they are indeed not to be missed.
Chloe has a secret past that not even her sisters are privy to. While growing up she picked pockets to offset the expense of medicine needed by her. She knew the expense to be draining on her family even though her sisters never said so.
Michael has episodes caused by his devastating memories of war. He refuses to marry because of this.
He knows Chloe's secret and she soon discovers his devastating problem.
Will their mutual attraction be enough to overcome the issues from their pasts?
This well written and engaging story is not to be missed.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames.
The attraction and subsequent reaction to it is an essential element in this story.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Chloe wants to live her dream. Her sister's fund lvd and it should now be her turn, however her secret can come back to haunt her. Desperate as a child she did things that she was not proud of. She has an opportunity to have everything she wants but at what cost.
Duke Michael Keswick recognizes Chloe right away and knows her secret. He will not allow the man he is mentoring marry her. He will do everything in his power to stop it, however when he realizes things about her his feelings change and he wants her for himself. He has his own secrets though.
This was a book about honesty and showing your true feelings. I felt it read a little slow and it lagged a little.

My love of historical romance is a longstanding one. It began with authors like Judith McNaught and Julia Quinn, but has expanded to include authors such as Darcy Burke and Vanessa Kelly among others. Tina Gabrielle sends me back to that time when I first discovered the awe of this magical genre. The battle of wills, the blending of hearts. Women of strength, times of desperation and domineering yet captivating men of means. The Duke Meets His Match is all that I expect and want romance to be. The place where hearts meet and wishes come true.

I loved this story and read it in one sitting it was so captivating. I thought it showed the mental effects of war really well and how there is not a quick fix. Both Michael and Chloe are well-written characters that conveyed their sacrifice, compassion and passion. A beautiful love story.

A beautiful, romantic story of two wounded hearts that become mended as their love blooms. Loved how the author handled the elements of how war affects the lives of soldiers with unseen wounds. It really gives the reader a peak into what soldiers give up in the name of peace.

Absolutely love Michael, Duke, after his father, and brother are killed in a wreck. While he was fighting at Waterloo, which left him with what we now know as, PTSD. He is left in charge of Henry, Earl, because his father died saving Michael. Henry is a young man in need of guidance, how to manage his estates, and everything that goes with the Earldom, this is what the Duke had promised Henry's father. Then Henry meets beautiful Chole, the youngest of the three Summerton sisters. Their father became an art forger after their Mother died. Just as he was about to be caught, he flees, leaving his teenage daughters, all alone to take care of themselves. Chole, at that age, was desperately ill, in dire need of expensive medicine, they were all desperate for each other.
Now, the oldest two sisters are married, Chole is determined to marry young Henry, she will never be left alone, desperate for money, and food again. However, the Duke doesn't think she is good enough for Henry! Who is she good enough for? I highly recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!

I promised an honest and fair review in exchange for this ARC. Nice story about the things that we think define us and hold us back and how love and sharing can set us free from our nightmares. Shorter story but worth your time.
