I really enjoyed this book. Looking forward to reading more books from Rosemary Foy.

Wylde at Heart was a decent read. It was easy to see that the author, Rosemary Foy, put a lot of thought into the plot.

It was just difficult for me to fall in love with the characters and I thought there were a lot of missed opportunities to develop the characters a little more. I especially wanted to hear more dialogue from the daughter. That really would have added a new dimension to the story.

While I appreciated receiving this book it just wasn't for me. The story line was interesting, but I didn't much like the characters. It felt rather forced at times and while I didn't enjoy it I still appreciate getting to read it!

May 1789, near the village of Fernsby, Kent, Lady Anne Dankworth sits in her bedchamber in fear. Her husband Howard, a nationally acclaimed military hero, has just threatened to have her deported. There is only one man in the whole of England she can trust with her secret. Wylde by name and by nature, disgruntled rogue and sea-merchant John, Earl of Rochester needs only to gaze into her dark fathomless depths to know he is still affected by her. But after 20 years, Anne is a changed woman. Gone is the hotheaded temptress from their youth, replaced instead by a cool, serious, good-wife.
Anne is back in Fernsby for her daughter’s wedding & also because Howard has business in Margate. Anne finds an intriguing note that refers to Howard’s demise & so she seeks a visit to John Wylde, things progress quickly & their findings leave them dumbfounded, nothing is what it seems &
all the while, the enemy prepares to strike.
A fast paced book that was enjoyable, the plot held my attention throughout. The characters were well portrayed, John & Anne were likeable & their attraction obvious, I found Howard a little two-dimensional. I found the whole book to be quite dark & intense so a little hard going at times, there were no lighter moments, even John & Anne’s time spent in the cottage didn’t have any humour or light heartedness. I also didn’t get a feel for the Georgian era & if the date hadn’t been stated I would have thought the setting was much earlier & to me felt like a novel set in Stuart times. I also felt the ending was rushed & the villain’s fate dealt with in less than a paragraph. So in conclusion an enjoyable book that could have delivered so much more

In exchange for this ARC, I am giving an honest review. What a Wylde book! Really complicated characters and story. I started and finished it in one day (and it isn't a short story). The characters are not the normally younger crowd and so this story is really quite different. A love story that spans time and against all odds and evil. Put this on your TBR list.
