I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
I wasn't able to finish this novel. I started and stopped several times. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into the story. This is a DNF for me.
Not bad,
Action packed, romance good MC book. I enjoyed it more than the first book in the series. Thanks Netgalley
3.5 stars. This has been my favorite so far in the series. While it doesn't necessarily follow people in the actual biker gang Hell's it does follow people who are closely involved with them. While I didn't feel like the characters really developed much as the story went, it is what it is. I didn't love Lucy as much as I'd have liked but I did enjoy Jake.
I love a book you can finish in a few hours.
What a fun and enjoyable read this is. It was a sexy, action packed, and full of romance. The storyline was intriguing, and held your attention. Ride Me Right was well written, and is a book anyone would enjoy on a rainy day, or while tanning down at the beach.
I have chosen not to review this title or feature it on the blog.
Thanks
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
I am a sucker for an MC romance, mostly because bikes are hot and bikers (at least in media and my head) and even sexier. Ride Me Right did not disappoint. The beginning of the book did have a bit of humor when the two main characters, Jake and Lucy, meet. Lucy is an overall independent bad ass chick just trying to do what she loves in a male dominated field. Jake is a lost soul of sorts, looking to find his way back from tragedy. Both characters are lost in different ways, and their meeting each other helps to steer them in a more positive direction, in which they do need each other in more way than one.
The chemistry between Lucy and Jake is red hot, and they find that together they can really accomplish anything and work towards resolving their demons and issues. This was the first book I had read from this author, I am happy to say that I would read her books again.
ARC received for review
I like it better than the first one, but the "spark" between Lucy and Jake seemed forced at times. The end was better than the beginning.
I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book
This book was pretty good. It was an emotional roller coaster of all of the ups and downs of life and love. Neither character was perfect but somehow they were perfect for each other.
Lucy and Jack both had so many walls up. She was always trying to prove that she was as good of a mechanic as any man and he had this martyr complex and wanted to protect everyone he cared about.
The real question is will her need to either be the best and his need to never make a mistake again would keep them apart.... read and find out!
Loved Jake and Lucy! This was a really good MC book - not heavy on the MC aspect and more a focus on the romance and developing feelings between these characters. I really enjoyed this book!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Chemistry between these two characters fell flat, not as described in synopsis. I like the other book written in this series better.
I always enjoy a strong female character, now add in that she has to fight for her place in a male dominated occupation it ups the appeal level for me. It helps to understand the hard surface that is presented along with attitude that can be a big turn off. Lucy has a lot on her plate and Jake is willing to help ease the burden. He is a protector even more so since the accident. The healing process is a big part of this book.
This book is more about two characters than an actual MC story. By only pet peeve is that the author gives reference more to a gang not an MC. If you read MC books you would understand the difference. Other than that I enjoyed the read and would read more from the author.
3.5 stars
I liked this much better than the first book. Jake and Lucy were much easier to like. However, I didn't love Lucy. She was a bit sassy for me lol she did get better as the book went on.
*thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy of this with me*
This was much better than the prior novel. It didn't focus so heavy on the Hellfire MC. While this was a bit of a short story for my liking, it was overall readable and likable. Some more character development would have improved the rating for me. I do feel, for the length, that a bit too much went on in this one that wasn't fully resolved. 3.25 stars.
Lucy couldn’t afford to replace the wrench that someone had taken. Not now that she doesn’t have a job or a place to live. Lucy knew this day was coming but kept hoping Gav would change his mind or something would come up but no such luck. Gav said no hard feelings it just wasn’t working out with her working there. Gav added he couldn’t stop bailing Lucy out. Lucy added that she didn’t expect Gav to. Lucy’s confidence turned to stone: no job, no apartment, no money for rent, and the promise she had made to her younger sister Katie that she would have the money for Katie’s glasses at the end of the week. Lucy was not going to let her fifteen year old sister miss out on being able to see because of their whacked out mother. Lucy might not have been the bot her father wanted but she also wasn’t the placid doormat her mom wanted either. Lucy was a great mechanic. The resident biker club was the Raising Hellfire MC. Lucy had been riding with the Hell’s Boys since she hit LA . Lucy had slept with a couple of the bikers and and got a rep so she stopped having sex which was a de stress mechanism for her. What Lucy wanted was the gig of fixing the Hell’s Boys bikes permanently. Lucy wanted to fix bikes the way she knew they wanted to be fixed. She wanted enough regular income that she could make sure her younger sister Katie was okay. Lucy knew Briony- who was the owner of Wilde’s- was the only friend she could rely on not to roll her eyes at the news Lucy had lost another job. Lucy was hoping someone needed some work on a bike since since the Hell Boys didn’t have an official mechanic or maybe Briony might have something she could do for cash until Lucy could find other work to tide her over. Jake has a newly discovered sister in Briony and he was overseeing her hotel while Briony was on her honeymoon. Jake had lost his confidence after a tragic accident in his famous stuntman skills. Jake’s nickname had been Iceman and he had been in action movies. Jake is tormented with guilt as he made an error in judgement that ended with an accident and a stuntwomen's death and decided to take some time off and reflect on his haunted past. Jake wonders after the accident if the stunt business is really for him. While at the hotel Lucy asked about a job and then ended up drunk and decides to take a dip in the pool. Luke sees her floating in the pool and thinks Lucy is drowning and rescues her. Lucy decides to have a one night stand. When she wakes the next day she finds out Jake is her boss as she had got a job in Housekeeping at least until Briony gets back. Lucy’s dream was to have her own bike shop. Jake and Lucy try to resist each other but when Lucy tries to harden herself toward Jake he melts her. Jake wants to help Lucy but Lucy is used to surviving on her own. Luke is protective of Lucy and wants to keep her safe no matter what he has to do.
I liked this book a lot. I liked how Lucy is trying to make it with something she does even if it’s a male dominated field. This is a great read and has a good plot and pace. But I didn’t like how the author referred to the MC as a gang. I like Jake and Lucy together. I also felt that Katie added to this story even if she didn’t have a large part. At time it was a little hard to like Lucy. I did like the action in the book. I also enjoyed watching Lucy grow. There a bit too much misunderstanding and miscommunication in this book. I loved the twists. This story does pull you in and doesn’t let go. I loved the characters and the twists and turns and I recommend.
Really enjoyed this story, this was my first time reading Michele De Winton but it won't be my last. I appreciated the fact that while this is set around a MC, neither Jake nor Lucy are fully immersed in the MC life, but more so on the fringes of it. I really appreciate how each character was presented: Jake isn't some blowhard who thinks he's God's gift to people everywhere, and he even admits when he's wrong without being an d-bag about it. Lucy does have an attitude, but for good reason. I do wish we'd gotten more about Lucy's background though.
Ride Me Right by Michele de Winton is the second in the Raising Hellfire MC series. I really enjoyed this book. This book is a hot sexy MC romance. Look forward to reading more.
Ride Me Right was just ok for me. It's definitely a decent, entertaining read but it just lacked something for me. Jake and Lucy had chemistry but I didn't feel it like it was described in the book. The initial situation actually seemed unrealistic. The book was sexy but it lacked any real depth. If your looking for a predictable, mindless read you'd enjoy this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This is a MC read without the actual MC being the main focus. For anyone who reads a lot of MC books you know that they hate to be called a gang and that is exactly what this author does which makes this feel a little off. Like I said though the main focus is on two people associated with the Raising Hellfire MC. This story revolves around The Wilde Hotel/Bar where we find Jake “Iceman” Slade filling in as manger while his half-sister is gone and Lucy Black a female bike mechanic desperately looking for a job.
Jake was a stunt man in Hollywood until a terrible accident had him needing a break which is how he ended up at the Wilde Hotel. Lucy Black was one h*lll of a lady mechanic and bikes were her specialty. After losing her job because the guys around her couldn’t take coming in second to a woman she desperately needed a job so she could send money back home for her sister. She took a housekeeping job at the hotel until she could land another mechanic job. She was hoping for a job with the Raising Hellfire MC but they haven’t come through with this plan as of yet.
Jake and Lucy were a great couple to get lost in. Jake was the hot hunk who started to fall for someone he wasn’t looking for and Lucy was a very strong, sexy female who was trying to look out for her sister and wanted a chance to make it in this male dominant world.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
Lucy Black has the worse luck, no job, no money to pay her rent and a promise to take care of her little sister. When she feels all hope is lost she finds a job at Raising Hellfire MC. She's strong and her perseverance can be seen through the book. There she meets Jake"Iceman" Slade. He is still coming to grips with an accident that drowns him with feelings of guilt everyday. Both of them are struggling but with each other they can finally calm the storms that threaten to consume them.
