The MCs are really secondary to the story. This is my first book in the series. I easily read it as a standalone, but I think reading them in order would have filled in more background.
Lucy Black is a very talented motorcycle mechanic trying to fit into the male dominated world. She had a rough childhood, with a very strange mom, and has a teenage sister she loves dearly and helps support. Lucy is independent, struggling, confident in her mechanic abilities, and takes crap from no one. Her mouth often gets in her trouble, which is how she gets fired from her job.
Jake Slade is a motorcycle stuntman/actor who is taking some time off due to guilt over a tragic on set accident. He is running his recently discovered half sister’s hotel while she’s on her honeymoon.
When Lucy discovers her new boss is the hot guy she fooled around with the night before, she’s horrified. But she needs the job for her sister, so she’ll suck it up and move on. The more time they spend together the harder it is to deny their attraction.
Both Jake and Lucy have healing to do. Lucy had a real chip on her shoulder, which was somewhat understandable. Lucy doesn’t make the best decisions so it was difficult to like her at times, especially near the end.
I loved seeing a woman expert in a non-traditional career.
Loved the new mechanic shop and people Lucy found at the end.
I voluntarily read an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.
Lucy and Jake are both great characters with a lot going on in their lives. Lucy loves working on bikes but can’t keep a job. Jake need to find his way after an accident at work. Now they are both working at Wilde’s and the chemistry between them is steamy. This read has plenty of drama, suspense and emotion. I was hooked from beginning to end, I really liked it.
3.5stars
Ride me right is another nonbiker love story in the series. In this one, a mechanic Lucy involves with Briony's brother Jake. SO this book is full of unpredictable things and two characters with unfortunate past. Lucy is searching her place under the sun and thinks that finding a job will do the trick. Jack has a traumatic experience and is too searching himself again and when they cross the same path chemistry flows in big ways. They are both interesting characters just Lucy is too stubborn and hard headed. I read worse stories.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
Ride Me Right was so much better than the two previous stories Burned by Lust & Burned by Blackmail that were in the book Burning to Ride. In this book neither character is part of the Hellfire MC but they do interact with the club quite a bit.
I liked both Jake and Lucy although I would have liked a bit more character development. I really liked the stunt aspect of Jake's life and found it interesting. Lucy took me a bit longer to like as her I hate the world vibe took a bit to get past. Once I did though, I found her to be likable and enjoyed reading about her. I liked her take charge attitude and the fact that she was trying to be taken seriously in a male oriented career and I loved that she was an amazing mechanic.
There are quite a few misunderstandings and miscommunication for such a short book and I felt like it ended with a HFN.
This was a good quick read. Both Lucy and Jake have their fair share of baggage and they both have such strong personalities that it makes for some great banter. The chemistry is hot. I love that we see a really strong heroine that tells it like it is. I am ready to read the next one!
Lucy Black can't catch a break as once again she finds herself coming out on the short end of the male dominated world she makes her living in as a motorcycle mechanic. When Jake Slade does his newly discovered half sister a favor, overseeing her hotel while she is on her honeymoon, it seems more like she is doing him a favor after a tragic accident has shaken his confidence in his famous stuntman skills. What starts out as an anonymous fling for Lucy and Jake ends up as a whole lotta trouble even while it might just be the whole lotta of love they have both been missing in their lives.
Michele De Winton revs it up strong and wonderful from page one in book two of her Raising Hellfire MC series with Ride Me Right. Lucy Black is the kind of character who when times get tough she gets tougher and readers will eat her up! Vulnerable coupled with gentlemanly all wrapped up in gorgeous Jake Slade's nickname of Iceman so did not apply in the bedroom, pool or any other place he hooked up with Lucy, what a great pairing. The heat between these two was what can only be termed as a spark fest well fed with Ms. De Winton's addictive irreverent humor and fabulous dialog. Torment meets torrid for one hell of a great read in Ride Me Right!

I was a bit skeptical going into this one, since I wasn't that much of a huge fan of the first book. But I was completely proven wrong with this one. I really enjoyed this one a lot more, and it kept me engaged far better than the first one did. The author, to me, felt stronger with this one too and more comfortable in her skill.
One of my fave things about this story line for this series is the fact that the main heroine, Lucy, is holding her own in a man's world as a mechanic. She doesn't play around, and takes no crap and definitely knows what she's doing. She's strong, and isn't afraid to say what she feels or thinks. And I love that! She grew on me way faster than the heroine in the last book. She had me cheering her on from the first page.
Though, to be honest, the hero in this story grated on me a few times, but I pushed on. And I am so glad I did. The story line kept me captivated, and I really liked the plot.
All in all, was a great read, and I am really glad I gave this author another chance.
3.5 Stars in my Sky!
I enjoyed Ride Me Right much more than the two stories Burned by Lust & Burned by Blackmail told in Burning to Ride.
Jake really packs a punch in alpha male terms but it was his rough edges and hidden vulnerabilities which won me over. Without giving anything away, I was pleasantly surprised about Jake's unusual entry into the MC (not the tragedy itself). He's an action man not really a MC biker...
Lucy is kinda mad at the world. Yes, for very good reasons. Where I was expecting to find her really unlikable I actually found her endearing and confused.
Lucy's story is really hard to comprehend. The difficult topics are handled with care and compassion. So much so I was pleasantly surprised at the research and conviction in the story. She's intelligent and strong - I particularly enjoyed seeing Lucy in sassy mechanic mode taking on the guys and showing them how it's done.
For me at least, the story is about healing and partnership. I could have done without so many misunderstandings and interruptions but I liked the story and wanted them to find a HEA together...
Ride Me Right by Michele DeWinton
Raising Hellfire MC #2
Going into this I knew that it would probably not be a typical MC gang type book. They are there in the background but not really the main focus of this or the previous two novellas. In this book there is a down on her luck female mechanic, Lucy Black, that just wants to make motorcycles purr. She is a bit of trouble and in financial trouble when she hits the Wilde bar and asks for a job. She soon meets Jake Slade, running the hotel while his sister is on her honeymoon, and they start a bit of a thing that neither expects to go very far. Quite a bit happens with ups and downs and sharing and a bit of caring before the two end up coming to a meeting of the minds. This story was better than the first but still not a gritty down and dirty MC novel. It was okay but I would have liked to have had more character development and more of the MC element that makes for great MC novels.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
2-3 Stars
DNF
I didn't like the first and the second one took right after it. Sorry couldn't waste my time on it.
Characters were terrible no development stupid ending
After reading the blurb for Ride Me Right I was all in. I wanted to read this book like crazy, so to say I was thrilled to receive an arc would be a complete understatement.
The story line was great and had promise, however the characters were flawed.
I had trouble connecting with the female protagonist Lucy. Lucy is a motorcycle mechanic. That is all she wants in life is to work on motorcycles and earn some money to give her younger sister the things she needs. Lucy is a tomboy and wears her independence like a biker would wear his cut. I loved Lucy's independence however, I found her independence may have been drawn out a bit and caused a little to much drama.
Now onto the character Jake. Jake is the male lead protagonist in this novel. Jake is a mystery (to me) throughout this novel. I never could wrap my head around the type of person he was and wanted to be. He confused the hell out of me. Jake is a stuntman and an actor. after witnessing a stunt gone wrong he decides to step away from the scene for awhile and help his half sister run her hotel. Throughout this novel you can feel the guilt seeping from the pages that floods Jake. Jake's story is told through conversations with bits of detail but its never actually drawn out which honestly I would have liked more.
The relationship between Jake and Lucy is INSTANT. One minute they are nothing the next they are something. Don't blink or you might just miss it.
This novel is book 2 in the Raising Hellfire MC series.....BUT.....neither Jake nor Lucy are a part of an MC. I went into this novel excited as hell to begin a new MC world. It was disappointing when I found out that neither character where part of the mc but just bystanders. I wanted the typical MC alphamale relationship!
I have to admit the sexy time scenes are scorching hot and a few scenes i caught the connection between the two which saved this novel from being a DNF for me.
Ride Me Right was just an Okay read for me.
Blake (Iceman) is temporarily running his half-sister's hotel/MC club while she's on her honeymoon. He's running from the PTSD from a horrific accident that he feels responsible for when he was stunt coordinator/ leading man on his last movie.
Lucy is a whiz motorcycle mechanic who is sick of being let go from every mechanic job she has worked at because she is a woman and, the men she has worked with are all misogynists. They all think women are good only as sex partners and nothing else. Blake has a knight in shining armor complex that goes into overdrive when he meets Lucy, much to her dismay. She doesn't need anyone! Are does she? This book wraps you up in the emotional grief that both characters are having to work through. Can they come out happy on the other side?
This was the third book in the Raising Hellfire MC series and could be read as a standalone. In fact I read this book before reading the others in the series. This book told the story of Lucy and Jake who both had to overcome obstacles from their past in order to love one another to their fullest.
This was a good read and I look forward to reading even more by this author.
Two characters with a lot of baggage - Jake Slade's is predominantly due to more recent events while Lucy Black's stems from a lifetime of issues at home and not being fully accepted into a predominantly male field as a motorcycle mechanic.
Both of these individuals have a long way to go before they can fully trust one another and there are certainly bumps along the way. I felt a disconnect with the characters at several points in the story - when their personalities didn't match their behavior. Maybe in part due to the fact that Lucy seemed to make things harder for herself than she needed to? Hard to say. Both characters faced tough past issues they needed to deal with. This is definitely a different type of story within the MC genre!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
This was a good story that although slow to start soon picked up and became more enjoyable to read as it progressed. It also held my attention throughout, was easy to read and had little in the way of angst.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love MC Romance. Their is something about the gritty characters and their way of life that intrigue me. I absolutely loved this novel and thought that Lucy and Jake were fantastic together. They were both strong characters who learned to let their guards and down and rely on each other. I cold not get enough!
Lucy Black is having a bad day. An exceptional bike mechanic who's talent is only rivaled by her even louder attitude, she has wanted to become the sole mechanic for the Raising Hellfire MC. But as her mouth is always getting her in trouble, she is now fired and out of luck. Now with no prospects to support her family she is forced to take a housekeeping job at Wilde Hotel, the adopted home of the Raising Hellfire MC. But what happens when she has a steamy moonlit encounter with her new boss, Jake "The Iceman" Slade? Will they both be able to melt each other's hearts?
I really enjoyed this story. I felt Jake and Lucy had fiery chemistry and their banter was sassy and sexy. They both had hidden pain within them and looked to each other for comfort and support. I thought this novel was sexy, emotional and so intense. Bravo! 4 Stars! ~Ratula
I would like to thank Netgalley and SMP Swerve for an advanced copy of this ebook for an honest review.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I jumped into this book without having read the first book and had no issues at all following the story. I have a weakness of a well done MC story and that was what attracted me to this title. This story is more MC adjacent than anything but I liked the story of a woman trying to succeed as a bike mechanic and all of the challenges she faces. Lucy is a good character. Even though I often felt she made things harder for herself she was very believable.
Jack was less developed. We know he is running from an accident that happened when he was overseeing stunts on a movie but I never felt that we knew him. The romance between Jack and Lucy never comes across as believable either. It is all very rushed with no real emotional connection that I could feel. And the ending was pretty ridiculous.
I liked that this was not a typical story and I was definitely entertained. I am not planning on reading other books in the series.
Solid 4 stars
I really enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for MC novels and hot Alpha Males with some soul healing needed, so this hit me in the sweet spot.
I loved reading about Jake and what he was going through. I also liked that both he and Luce were more on the fringes of the MC rather than members or groupies. Jake was an interesting read. He wasn't overinflated and he was willing to admit his mistakes relatively quickly SCORE!!
Lucy had a chip on her shoulder and while that usually bothers me it didn't as much with her. She has plenty of reasons to have that chip and she is willing to admit its there and take chances, which with her past is remarkable.
What really sold me however is the actual research into the ending that sealed it for me. I loved that the author showed Lucy healing realistically, so often miraculously people are back to their selves right away and MS. de Winton stayed away from that route. Thank you!
This girl loves her bikes, and I feel that! Hubby and I took the bike out after I finished this (I begged not going to lie)and there is nothing like a finely tuned engine and a good romance!

This is Book 3 in the Raising Hellfire MC series. Lucy Black has just been fired from her mechanic’s job because men are so scared when a woman does a better job than they do. She meets Jake when she decides to take a swim in the pool at Wilde’s hotel/bar. There are some strange things happening to Lucy and Jake has to decide if he can really trust her. He has to make several tough decisions and try to overcome how he was raised before he can fully understand what is happening. This is another good book even though it shows men as really insecure people when a woman has a little bit of a backbone and talent! You won’t go wrong by reading this series if you enjoy love and strong men. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.
All Lucy Black wants is to work on bikes, she is a great mechanic and just when she thinks she will be working for the Hell's Boys, fixing their bikes, fate steps in again and she is looking for another job.
Jake "The Iceman" Slade is a Stunt Rider/Actor, he is one of the best there is but after a tragic accident, he takes a step back and has offered to look after his new found half-sister Brioney's hotel Wilde's while she is on her honeymoon.
A chance encounter with the fiery Lucy and Jake is questioning his decision to give up stunt riding and whether he wants to leave Wilde's and the feelings he has for Lucy.
This is a fast paced enjoyable read, love the characters, they are all pretty strong and keep you guessing what will happen next. Lots of emotions and actions in this book, plenty to keep you interested until the end.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.
