Fire & Ice

My love for MC Romance led me to take a chance on a new author. I read Ride Me Right as a standalone. While I enjoyed the story, it kinda bugged me that though the series is labeled MC, the bikers were referred to as gangs in the story. Having heard so many times in the past that it was offensive to motorcycle clubs, reading that description was distracting to me.

Lucy Black is badass. She's a motorcycle mechanic who is passionate about working on bikes. Unfortunately, being a female in a male dominated profession makes it very hard to find work in her chosen career. The men tend to disrespect her by only seeing her curves, or feeling threatened by her skills. Her dream is to run her own bike shop, but that's not looking good so far. After losing her latest job, she's forced to accept a position in housekeeping at Wilde Hotel owned by her friend Briony. After drowning her sorrows, she decides to take a dip in the hotel pool. Too bad that she appeared to be drowning herself instead. Or maybe it wasn't bad, her unnecessary rescuer was hot.

Jake saw someone floating in the pool and instinctively jumped in fully clothed to rescue them. Nobody was dying on his watch. He was left in charge of his stepsister's hotel while she was on her honeymoon and he took his responsibility seriously. What he wasn't expecting was seeing sexy Lucy in her white cotton panties made invisible once soaked. Nor was he expecting to get yelled at for trying to save her life. How was he to know she wasn't really drowning?

As Jake & Lucy went toe-to-toe in more ways than one, their chemistry kept getting in the way of their determination to resist each other. Having painful pasts and frustrating job situations in common they found themselves drawn to each other. Jake was unable to resist wanting to help her out. Rescuing damsels in distress was just part of his DNA. However; Lucy was used to having to survive on her own, fighting every step of the way to be taken seriously. So they kept butting heads... and uglies. They couldn't resist each other, until the next time they fought. They were fire and ice, but every time he put out the fire it blazed again. And every time she hardened her heart against him, Iceman melted her into a puddle... again.

With biker 'gangs' getting involved and danger hot on her trail the couple kept getting their wires crossed. Would they be able to get to the bottom of the situation and find the truth? Once they did, would they accept it? What does Raising Hellfire MC have to do with it? Does she belong to them? I'm not telling, you'll have to read it for yourself.

You can't hide forever. Lucy just wants to be taken seriously she loves working on bikes and so what if she is a woman she deserves a chance just like any man. But she has no job, not much money and she still needs to get her tools back so where to from here? Jake just wants to lick his wounds in peace, he needs to time to think about the accident and what is next for him. And this is just the place to be looking after his sister's bar & hotel but Lucy is about to turn his world upside down. They have their night but they realize that she will be working with Jake everyday, can they really work that close together without burning up the sheets? Can Jake really trust Lucy especially after her going to get her tools back even after she said that she won't? Can Lucy really get away from the other biker gang before it is too late and she lands in even more trouble?
Will Jake believe her when she tells him that she has a new job and that she has nothing to do with the gang or will he throw everything away? Has Jake lost her for good, he needs her so much and now he could lose the one shining light in his life? Will Lucy ever wake up and forgive him or is it just too late?
A great read full of action, friendship and new beginnings.

Lucy is a great mechanic but when she loses another job because she's too distracting she is forced to take a housekeeping job at a place the Raising Hellfire MC hangs out. Lucy meets Jake "The Iceman" Slade and the instant attraction is electric literally. But he is her boss and they both have family and work baggage so they try to keep it platonic. Great story of two people overcoming obstacles to be together.

Being a tomboy myself, loved this story of an independent, feisty mechanic... who just happens to be female. Lucy does her damn best to succeed in a male-oriented profession in between screw ups and circumstances. Jake trying to get over the death of a coworker is in serious need of someone who tells it like it is. And boy does Lucy give it to him with both barrels!!

Lucy is a Goddess when it comes to repairing motorcycles. If only she wasn't a woman. Then she might be taken seriously. Jake is a hotshot stunt man and actor. Well at least he used to be one. Meeting Lucy might be just what he needed to get his mojo back. Lucy just needs to have someone believe in her. Jake needs to work through his demons in order to be that man.

Ride Me Right is book two in the Raising Hellfire MC series. The story was fast paced and exciting with rival MC gangs. The characters are Briony half brother, stunt double Jake “The Iceman” Slade and bike mechanic, sassy mouth Lucy Black. They had good chemistry from the get go. Great Read!
