i really enjoyed this one. Caleb and Faith were both great characters and the author did a great job helping us get to know them. Caleb has known the spotlight. He's a world famous tennis player who just announced his retirement. Faith has lived in the enormous shadow of her famous father. These two are drawn to each other but the last thing Faith has time for is a man. Sometimes though love finds you when you least expect it.
This is one I highly recommend!
Are you willing to take a chance on happiness? Faith is so busy with the music festival and she was hoping that her brother was going to come home but he has let her down again and now she is without a surprise act but she pulls one out of the bag again. But she is angry and she needs to get away from the office and she knows the place to go. Caleb White has just retired from tennis and he has no idea what happens now so he is surprised when Faith turns up and offers him the one thing that he was hoping for. But Faith knows that this can't last it is just for the festival period and then she knows that Caleb will move off. Caleb just can't seem to let her go he is looking for more but Faith can't do that she won't make the same mistakes that her father did but can Caleb be the one that helps her?
Can Faith make the right choice or will she live alone forever? Will Caleb ever forgive her and wait for her?
A great read of letting go of the past, looking towards the future. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

It's no secret that I love my small island town sexy romances, something St. Martin's Press get right time after time, and when you add a sports star and a holiday romance into the mix, you're already on the right footing with me.
Following surprising the world with his retirement, tennis superstar Caleb White decamps to Cloud Bay for some time out to decide what's next and his what next comes in the form of Faith Harper: daughter of a rockstar, no stranger to celebrity and the woman the helm of arranging the islands version of Glastonbury. And with no inclination for anything long term she's happy to indulge in a summer fling.
"I have it on very good authority that I’m your favorite tennis player."
Faith and Caleb have a pretty instant chemistry and I loved how confident she was in showing him what she wants. And it quickly becomes evident that the spark goes further than the bedroom with feelings running deeper than either envisaged. But it was how Faith reacted that put a bit of a dampener on this for me and had me wondering whether she actually deserved Caleb: I can do independent and stubborn, I can do guarded and fearful but there's a difference between being afraid and coming over as cruel and Faith did show a side to her that fell into the latter, which Caleb simply didn't deserve.
"Play hooky with me, Faith. Just for a little while."
Whilst for me Faith and Caleb's romance falls into the HFN category as opposed to the HEA, I am hopeful that we'll see more of them throughout the series. And, having introduced us the wider population of Cloud Bay and the characters who'll take centre stage, Emma Douglas has done enough to entice me into coming back for more: I'm already looking forward to my next visit for Mina's story.
This was the first book I’ve read by Emma Douglas. It turned out to be a good start to a series about life on a small island off the coast of California. I’m always attracted to these series set in small towns where everyone knows each other and life seems simpler. On the Island of Cloud Bay we meet Faith, whose famous father died from liver cancer, the result of the hard life of a rock star. She takes care of the day to day business of her father’s estate, along with coordinating the annual rock festival, CloudFest. Caleb, a newly retired number one seed on the international tennis circuit, and quite handsome, comes to Cloud Bay to get some much needed rest. He needs to figure out what to do with the rest of his life after his injury has left him unable to stay on top of his game.
Although Faith and Caleb aren’t looking for long term relationships, they are instantly attracted to each other. Can they have a casual fling until the end of the festival, or do they have to admit to themselves that this may be the real thing? Good development of this relationship by the author along with development of secondary characters whose stories should be told in future installments. I’m looking forward to returning to Cloud Bay!
Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
Truly enjoyable read. Faith Harper is the daughter of rock legend Grey Harper, who died 5 years. Ago faith lives in Cloud Bay, where they have Cloud Fest, a huge rock fest, yearly .Faith has run it all these years because, she's the 'responsible' one of the family. She meets Caleb White, #1 Tennis Star for 5 years, who suddenly retired after his last competition and came to Cloud Bay to rest and decide what he wants to do for the rest of his life. Faith and Caleb meet his first day on the island and there is an immediate attraction. Problem is the Faith wants more of a friends with benefits situation, something that Caleb suddenly realizes that he's not too sure he's happy about!
This book is the first one in Ms Douglas’s series titled Cloud Bay. Life on an island is different. Having lived in one, I know it can be isolating, but the people in it is what makes it worth living there. The island is quaint and is unique in that they have a rock festival.
Both characters are interesting, each one with their own agenda and neither wanting a long term relationship. But life has a sense of humor and things don’t go as planned.
On the downside, I felt that Caleb fell a little short and I didn’t feel invested in him. At times I felt it dragged, but rushed at the end. The plot could have been a little more developed.
Still , I would read another book in this promising series.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley and the publisher. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Need You Now is the first in a new series. It shows promise. Love the location. I look forward to see how the series evolves.
Caleb is retiring from tennis and escapes to Cloud Bay to have some peace.
Faith lives in Cloud Bay and has to get this music fest going now her main star has backed out. She is fit to be tied and can use a distraction.
Caleb seems to be a good distraction for her. With her family close and her stress level going up by the day she decides it's time to leave someone else in charge.
She takes a day to do what she wants and man does it turn into so much more.
What happens when the festival is over and Caleb has to leave?
This was a great first in series and I look forward to reading the next one.

I found this a very enjoyable start to a new series, set on the lovely Cloud Bay island and set around a yearly music festival, I suppose reminiscent of Woodstock if you're a UK resident.
Faith is the daughter of a rock star and one of the members of a band who started the yearly festival on the island. Her Dad has since passed away and Faith has been running the festival since. Caleb is a major tennis star and has come to the island for a bit of relaxation, and to get away from the press, after just announcing his retirement.
The story is mainly set around the festival and Faith and Caleb's slowly developing relationship. Faith does seem to be the lynchpin of the whole festival and is always run off her feet whilst it is on and is really looking for more to do with her life. Caleb is now looking at options to do with his life now his career has finished, and eventually they both manage to sort things out with just a little hiccup towards the end.
This was a very easy reading book and most of the side characters were really interesting and likeable. I can see lot of other stories developing for them in this series, which I'm looking forward to reading, especially since the next one is a Christmas themed story about Faith's sister, Mina, and one of the guys who runs the Whiskey Distillery and bar on the island, Will. Can't wait!
Emma Douglas’ debut is definitely a chart-topper.
A rock star’s daughter, a just-retired tennis player, and a music festival on an island make up “Need You Now”, book 1 of the Cloud Bay series.
Both Faith Harper and Caleb White are at a crossroads with their lives. Faith is in charge of the festival Cloudfest and has an idea to do something more than carrying on her father’s legacy. Caleb has to decide what life will be after tennis. They both need a distraction and find it with each other.
“Need You Now” is filled with flirty banter and sexy times along with two people discovering who they want to be after being in the same role for so long.
Ms. Douglas has written a story with relatable characters in lifestyles that we only read about or see on TV. The story flows so smoothly, and is so good, that I read it over a weekend.
“Need You Now” is an outstanding debut and I’m excited to read what Ms. Douglas has in store for us next.
A fabulous summertime start to a new fresh series.
A new way of bringing an island community to the pages with dynamic characters and a great backdrop.
Looking forward to reading the next in the series and getting to know more about the characters and their island.
Need You Now is a nice start to a series that has a lot of promise. The idea around this book is that two slightly famous people (one the daughter of a rock star, the other a retired tennis player), with no intention of really settling down, find love unexpectedly. This concept is a unique one as in most books, there is always one who is looking and the other isn't. So I really enjoyed this aspect. What I also enjoyed was the setting. I love these quaint places where there is a small town feel with charming residents, and that's exactly what we get with this one. If I ever have the opportunity to visit Cloud Bay I will! In fact, I will move there now!!! :D So this setting really made the book something I immensely enjoyed.
The only downfall that I found was that I felt a bit disconnected from the hero. That's not to say that I hated him because I didn't! I liked him, I really did! I just couldn't love him. He simply was not as transparent as Faith. This could be due to the fact that he didn't have a POV in the story- I love to read the inner minds of the two main characters in stories.
Other than this, I liked the story a lot. I loved the build up, the actual story line, and the interactions between the characters. The setting is superb, the writing style is natural and flows, and the ending made me smile.
This is the first book I have read by Emma Douglas, and I have to say I am curious about where she will take the Cloud Bay series. The first in this series centers around Caleb and Faith. These two relatively famous individuals are not looking for any type of relationship when they meet. In fact, Faith has a rule about dating tourists that initially puts Caleb off limits. But rules are meant to be broken!
This was an enjoyable contemporary romance set on a small island rather than a small town. However, the same rules apply, everyone knows everyone and there is very little privacy, especially when you are the daughter of a rock star that put the island on the map. I'm guessing that the next books may feature Faith's other siblings and from the little tidbits we've been given so far, they have quite the story to tell!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Release Date: August 29 2017
Need You Now is a good start to the Cloud Bay series by Emma Douglas.
You meet Faith who is the daughter of rock star and Caleb who is a famous tennis player. Neither of them are looking for a relationship and have no intentions of settling down, but they find love unexpectedly.
Caleb needs some time to get his thoughts together after his retirement from tennis, so one of his friends rents a house on Cloud Bay and they make the journey for the festival. Once Caleb has Faith in his sights, he is attracted to her immediately. As the days pass, their mutual attraction for each other grows and I loved their HEA.
I can’t wait to get the next book in this series and Emma has a good debut on her hand.
Received book from Netgalley for an honest review.
I love the start of a series when the book not only draws you in to that story but makes you anxious for the upcoming books in the series.
Faith Harper is a force to be reckoned with. Taking over a rock and roll empire after the death of her father, Faith knows how to run the show. The only thing is, she is hiding behind the safety of the work rather than getting emotionally involved in life. Caleb White is number one in the world of tennis until he abruptly retires. Hopping a ferry to the island music fest Caleb encounters the sexy Faith. Caleb and Faith give in to their attraction and have a short fling, but when one wants more and the other needs the walls of their heart broke down who will get their way.
I loved the family dynamics just begging for their own story and can't wait to read them.
Need You Now is the story of Faith and Caleb. Caleb is a heart-throb tennis player who has decided to leave tennis and is looking for somewhere to decompress. Faith is the middle child of a one-time rock star, now dead, who has remained with the family business in Cloud Bay, while being a pivotal part of the town’s legendary famous music festival, CloudFest. The pair meet when Caleb and his friend Liam rent a house for the festival duration from one of Faith’s father’s famous band’s members. Neither is really looking for any lasting relationship, but Caleb is smitten by Faith at first sight. As time passes (really, actually, days), their mutual attraction grown into something more. Are they ready for it? This is the story of their relationship and how it grows, set amid the backdrop of this famous music festival in this fantastic setting. Two “lost souls” searching for who knows what, but who find a lot when they really are not even looking.
This is a not so unusual romance. Still, the characters are well done. It was interesting to watch how Faith worked to put the music festival together during the last few days before its start. However, there was no mystery or anticipation, as I easily figured out, from the start, what was going to happen. This is a nice chick-lit romance to read during summer vacation or a trip to the beach. Nothing fantastic. It is the start of a series, which I guess will continue with the saga of Cloud Bay. Good for readers who enjoy a great romance in a gorgeous setting. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
Need You Now is the first book in the new Cloud Bay series revolving around the children of rock star Grey Harper. This book is about the middle child, Faith. She is charge of the yearly music festival on Cloud Bay that celebrates her father’s band.
Faith leads a rather lonely life, concentrating most of her energy on her father’s legacy. At the beginning of this year’s celebration she meets Caleb White, a world class tennis star who has just announced his retirement. Neither are looking for a long term commitment, Faith because she has issues and Caleb because he isn’t ready to settle down. The sparks fly when they meet and I really enjoyed the journey to their HEA.
While this book was about two rather famous people, it still had the small town feel that I really like. I liked Faith’s younger sister and look forward to her book. I’m not sure about the older brother, he didn’t come across as so likable, so I am interested to see how Ms. Douglas handles his story.
Overall I did enjoy this book very much. I loved the writing style, the story line was great and the characters were believable. This is a great beginning to the Cloud Bay series and I look forward to the following books.
This book flows slowly and had a hard time holding my interest. I was disappointed but will try another book by this author later as I believe she shows talent as a writer.
This is the first book, I have read by Emma Douglas. I found it to be a fun book & enjoyable book to read. If you are looking for a fun, easy book to read this summer, then check this book out!
Yes, yes, yes, YES!!!! This book was exactly what I was in the mood to read!!! I love romance novels set in small towns, but it has to have an amazing storyline and Need You Now had that and MORE!!! As I got into this book, I was blown away by the fact that this is Emma Douglas's debut novel because she writes like a seasoned pro. From the beginning the characters were endearing and I'm hoping Emma Douglas makes this a looooong running series because I truly want all of the supporting characters to have their own books.
I enjoyed the way Caleb and Faith's relationship organically developed and I thought there was the prefect amount of sweet, steam and romance in the mix! Being that this is the first book in the series, Emma Douglas does a great job of giving us everyones background without feeling too informative. If you're in the market for a novel that will both hold your attention and make you forget the rest of the world than Need You Know is an absolute must!! Go 1-click this 4.5 star gem now!!!!
