I wasn't able to read this book in time to give a proper review.
This is sixth and final book in the Gargoyles series and it doesn't disappoint. Baen & Ivy are the heroes of the book, but you still get the ensemble from the previous books. Ivy can hear voices and while she feels like it is a curse she is willing to use her gift to help Baen fight the Order and keep them from taking over the world and sending it into darkness. A great ending to the series and a perfect couple to end it I really enjoyed their romance.
Action-filled, filled with humour, ending…
All that came before it, led up to this moment of reckoning. Ivy and Baen, with the help of all the Wardens and Guardians, united at last for the final battle. And what a battle it was! The evil were even more slimy and putrid than I could have imagined but, in the end, the energy and magic, the strength, of the warriors and their loves proved even deadlier…
I started this series late and struggled to find its groove. Though this book had a slow start for me, the why’s and wherefores were repeated in different ways over and over at the beginning, the tone soon changed. Ivy and Baen together were pure magic, love magic even more real than the magic Ivy surprisingly could wield. I couldn’t imagine finding love when you’re trying to save the world but as Ivy discovered her talents, Baen discovered her…
Filled with witty dialogue and a relentless, entertaining, march to the inevitable final scenes, their courtship was filled with the humour I love from this author and an otherworld charm that proved irresistible…
I've been a fan of Christine Warren since I first discovered PNR books years ago. She didn't disappoint with Hard Breaker. Love the characters and the chemistry. Can't wait to read more in this series!
Ivy Beckett 's gift feels more like a curse. She can hear things happening in distant locations, which is how she knows the very instant her family is killed by servants of the Darkness. Furious, she joins the fight to save the world – but the losses are mounting up. She thinks only a miracle can save them—but she doesn't expect the miracle to come in the form of a handsome gargoyle. Baen is a fearsome Guardian, but when he awakes, even his surprised by war that is going on. But what’s even more distracting is beautiful Ivy. Driven by passion, she’s ready to charge head-first into battle. But Baen’s primal instincts to protect what’s his rise within him, and Ivy is dangerously attracted to him. Can she and her gargoyle warrior save the world…and fall in love?
The book was good. I liked both main characters as they went through the story. Both characters were well written. I enjoyed the plot. I recommend.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Hard Breaker is an incredible masterpiece! This story made my heart soar as I tumbled into its danger and passion. What an adrenaline rush of epic proportions! I loved the complex and brilliant storyline. This book actually finished her guardian series, and it ended with a huge success! I loved every second I was able to spend with these amazing characters. Paranormal romance/romantic suspense is the best of the romance genre since you aren’t contained by anyone imagination but your own. The sky is the limit, and that is truly liberating especially when you have to step back into your own life when the words stop.
Ivy’s life changed in a blink of an eye. She never asked for it, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is fighting for something she believes in, and that works for her. When Baen collides with Ivy, both of their lives explode with chaos raining down everywhere. Nothing is as it seems and Ivy is left to pick up the pieces of a life that no longer fits in its small boundaries any longer. Baen knows that he is ready to do what he was made for, and he finds himself fascinated with Ivy. She is unlike anyone he has ever met, and he will fight for her protection and her love for as long as it takes. When the unthinkable happens and then the extraordinary takes its place, the heart must fight on a whole new level with unknown weapons against an overwhelming fear that demands its very existence.
This book ends this marvelous series, and it really went out with an epic bang. This is a stunning series that will touch your heart and challenge your thinking. I enjoy having my boundaries pushed to an epic scale by a wonderful storyline that brings such marvelous characters to life. I consider this a decadent treat that I savored every step of the way. If you enjoy trying new things, then I encourage you to dive into this imaginative series that will make you feel and yearn along with the brilliant characters.
Christine Warren has created a phenomenal series that is sure to entertain and delight fantasy and romance readers alike. She is a wonderfully creative and highly imaginative author who draws from an endless supply of hope and passion. This is a series that will stay with me for a very long time. Its amazing touch and quiet power has left its mark on my heart.
The sixth book in the Gargoyle series features Baen and Ivy. When her family is killed by the servants of Darkness, Ivy knows she must align herself with a Guardian. I didn’t feel like the attraction between the characters was as compelling as in her other books, but overall it was a good story.
Hard Breaker by Christine Warren is part of the Beauty and Beast series and the sixth book in the Gargoyles series. I will admit starting with the sixth book will make you a tad lost, I know I was. But having said that I could catch on fairly easily. So, it is a good book and I felt I really got the idea of the storyline and the characters.
Ivy she feels cursed by her gift. She can hear things from a different location even really far one from her. She hears her parents being killed by the forces of Darkness.
This motivates her to become a fighter. She wants revenge. She doesn’t care how she wants them to pay and pay dearly for what they took from her.
She is a strong yet vulnerable character. She is capable of taking care of herself yet oddly emotional too.
Baen he is a guardian. His job is to protect Ivy. She doesn’t make it an easy job. He never planned on falling for her though.
He is strong, protective, and a hero I loved. He is perfect. I want more of heroes like him.
Overall a great book and I need to go back and see what I have missed cause this one really made me want more!!
Five Shooting Stars
I haven't read the rest of the series in order, I think I've read maybe 3 of the books. But it was easy to continue following the plot without the whole backstory. Like most of Christine Warren's books, I enjoyed this one and can't wait to see what she has next for us. That being said, I am looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the series.

Wow did I do this wrong! This is the sixth book in the “Gargoyles” series by author Christine Warren and my first time reading this author. Yes, I know see told you I did this all wrong. But it’s ok because I absolutely loved this story. I guess by this reaction you know this could be read as a standalone, the story was so well written that it made it easy to follow. I do look forward to reading the other books in this series, I’m sure their stories are just as amazing. As heroines go, I felt Ivy was strong, quick thinking, and if you love sassy sarcastic heroines she’s your gal. I felt this story did not have a slow moment; it was fast paced action and the sexy scene is just that, sexy. For me this was a different type of shifter story and I did very much enjoy it. This was a page turner and I had several hours of just one more chapter. I felt the hero and the heroine was a great match. I did enjoy the other gargoyles and there wardens, as I said before I look forward to reading the others stories.
***I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for an honest review via NetGalley, this is my honest opinion and has not been influenced by the author, Publishers or NetGalley in anyway.*** Thank you!
I really enjoyed this book, it started out a little slow, but finally picked up and was a great conclusion
I always enjoy a Christine Warren book and this was no exception. It is apparently the last in this gargoyle series so I need to retrace myself as I somehow missed the last one. No matter in the sense of understanding the events of this installment but I do get to enjoy another go. Warren has a sense of humour inherent in her writing which I particularly appreciate. Saving the world is a fearsome task but Ivy (the beauty) and Baen (the gargoyle beast) are up to the task. There is danger, betrayal and lots of action combined with heart-stopping romance. The secondary characters are interesting in their own right. All in all, Warren has written a stupendously exciting finish to a great series.
Hard Breaker is the sixth book in the Gargoyles series by Christine Warren. I have read most, of not all of this series, and I recommend having read at least a few of the previous books before picking this one up otherwise you might get lost in the larger story line.

Furious, she joins the fight to save the world – but the losses are mounting up. She thinks only a miracle can save them—but she doesn't expect the miracle to come in the form of a handsome gargoyle. Hard Breaker is the heart of the action and everything comes to its final resolution. I liked that ll of our Gaurdians and Wardens step in and work together, and the support and teasing they offer each other is the best part of the story. I liked Ivy and Baen, but felt like some of the relationship was just glossed over and lost in the larger story. I did enjoy their coming together, and Baen's challenge to understand where her reluctance came from. However, I will admit to the action getting a little drawn out- and I skimmed some of the story just to see how it all came together. I still enjoyed the read, but I just never got lost in the story like I hoped I would.
Hard Breaker is a satisfying conclusion to the series, but I felt like it was somehow a little rushed in some ways but drawn out in others. I still enjoyed the characters and think that those that have stuck through the series need to read it.
WOW! That doesn’t sum up much but what it does show is just how much of a great author Christine Warren truly is. There was everything that a great book needs. Romance, hero, heroine, tragedy, most of all a happy ever after. So where does all this get someone thinking about reading any of Christine Warren’s book? Well, you get pulled into the book within the first few pages, you get suspense, you get nail biting, you get a few times where you think about putting the book down because your favourite character is not doing what you think he/she should be doing.
Ivy, might not believe that she has any real magic but she does know that there is a greater good that needs to have the backing of the people that do have real magic. She knows that the darkness is trying to take over the world and that they have succeeded in wiping out half of the people that could possibly help the ones that are strong enough to save the world. So, she acts as a middle man helping wardens to get to Paris where other wardens have already been placed into safe houses to try and get the Guardians to help save the world. So, what happens when one of the Guardians saves her life and tells her that she is his saviour? Can she believe him? Can she risk her heart if it turns out to not be the case?
Bren has lived a life that only a few others can truly know the pain of, only awakening from years of sleep to fight for a world that they don’t know just to be put right back into a sleep till the next war. There is a way to keep Bren from being put back into a sleep-like state but that all depends on Ivy. Bren knows that she is the reason that he is awake but can he convince her that they belong together? Bren knows that he is from a different time whereas Ivy is from a much more modern time where women have independence as well as a need to feel like they are more than just someone to keep your bed warm at night.
If you are looking for a great paranormal read I recommend Hard Breaker!

Great twist on a classic beauty and the beast tale. Good read. It was good to read the individual take on an over done tale.
Great paranormal romance with a twist. Very action packed and fast paced. This is part of a series, but they can all be read as standalones. This was hard to put down and kept me wanting to come back over and over again. 4/5
I didn't read this series in order, but I wish I had waited and done so! I really enjoyed this story, but because I hadn't read the previous titles I felt I was missing something. That said, I still really enjoyed it!
I was giveb a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.
Another great novel from Christine Warren! Baen and Ivy are a great couple! They must all band together and defeat the Darkness, before they can bring Ghrem out of the between. The Guardians must not let this happen. Ivy and Baen are HOT together. The chemistry is off the charts. They complement each other. I love the writing style of Christine Warren. The storyline and characters are always well-developed. I recommend this series and her Others series. I give Hard Breaker: A Beauty and Beast Novel (Gargoyles Series) 5/5 stars.
