This was a delightful story about two friends going on their own adventures. I definitely think sloths are having a moment and that this title would be appealing to children.
Cute premise with Peter, being content to cloud picture from the treetop forever, and Ernesto the adventurous sloth, wanting to see the skies in different environs. Will be enjoyed by the "Frog and Toad" set.
This adorable junior graphic novel is a sweet addition to any collection.
Peter & Ernesto: A Tale of Two Sloths follows friends Peter and Ernesto. Both are sloths; Peter is content to sit in the treetops and watch the clouds roll by, but Ernesto wants to see all the different types of sky. When his friend leaves, Peter fears the different things that could happen to him, so he braves the world to follow. Enchantingly sweet and full of wonderfully expressive outline-and-basic-shading drawings, this story will make readers laugh and fall in love with both main characters.
This graphic novel would be a great next step for fans of Willems’ Elephant and Piggy. Peter & Ernesto manage to live up to this pair, a mighty feat indeed.
This story is about two best friends that are sloths. All their life they have lived in a tree when one day, one friend wants to see the world while the other is too scared to leave his home. The friends, Peter and Ernesto separate. Ernesto goes on an adventure from sea to land and back again. Peter misses his friend and finally leaves his tree to go find him. Both friends learn a little about the world on their adventures, but both return home to each other illustrating that there is no place like home.
This is a cute children's graphic novel with a simple storyline and even simpler illustrations. Would be of interest to younger elementary school children. I would recommend this to any young child who enjoys graphic novels, but may be too young for something like the Bone series.
I love to find graphic novels that are appropriate for my 1st grade reader, she often sees me reading graphic novels but more often than not the content isn't fit for a youngster. Luckily I keep discovering great graphic novels for kids, Peter and Ernesto was something that was fun for us to read together and it was something that she enjoyed looking through on her own. The illustrations are adorable and the subtle humor and silliness captivated both my kids (6 and 4 yo). Peter and Ernesto both learn and grow as they embark on separate journeys, my kids could easily relate to their experiences.
Peter and Ernesto live in the tree together and one day Ernesto decides he needs to see more of the sky and takes of on an adventure. Peter worries about him and soon follows to make sure he is ok. They both end up meeting new animals and making friends. Cute graphic novel for kids. A very quick read.
I was super excited to read this story, as it was written by nearby Sheridan College grad, however I couldn't get into this title. I wanted to enjoy it because the illustrations and sloths were so darling, but the story simply didn't engage well enough. The comic frame format was very choppy in e-book format, so perhaps it is better to view in full book format. The dialog was not enough to hold my son's attention. This one was a miss, but I will check out Annable's other titles because of the illustrations!
3.7 stars. I thought the sloths should be slower in motion and the supporting characters didn't have much personality.
Ernesto is a very unusual sloth, he is not at all slow or lazy like the other animals think he is. In fact he decides he wants to see all of the sky so he goes off on an adventure, leaving poor Peter behind.
Adorable children's comic about two sloths, Peter and Ernesto, and their very un-sloth-like adventure. Ernesto decides he must go off to see the whole sky. His friend Peter gets worried about him and goes off after him. I'd hand this to any patron who likes slightly silly stories and has either just started or is almost ready for chapter books.
I absolutely loved it! Very nice graphic novel for kids about two sloths and the most unlikely adventure they had. Ernesto wanted to see the whole sky and leaves the comfort of his tree to search for new places. Peter is afraid to join his friend, but soon follows Ernesto to try to protect him from danger. Super cute friendship story, overcoming fears and having a great time. Looking forward to more!
Peter an Ernesto are two best-sloth-friends who live together in a tree. They've never left before, until one day, Ernesto gets curious and decides that he's going to go off and see all the different bits of sky there is to see. Peter is much more cautious and nervous than Ernesto - he'd rather stay home in their familiar tree. But, fearing for Ernesto, Peter sets out to follow him, and together they have some grand and absolutely adorable adventures. A lovely graphic novel for middle-grade level readers and anyone who may be fond of sloths. Because how can you not love two sloths called Peter and Ernesto?
Peter and Ernesto are best friends who are usually content to hang around their tree and cloud picture. Ernesto, though, decides he'd like to see a little more of the great big sky, so he sets off on an adventure -- an adventure that leads Peter to worry about him and set off after him! Both sloths have their own sorts of adventure in this delightful graphic novel, which is rife with deadpan, dry humor. Pretty delightful.
So, so cute and it had me laughing at many a turn! Ernesto is itching for adventure and decides to go off exploring! Peter is much more content to stay at home in their treetop, but reluctantly follows after to make sure Ernesto stays safe (read: doesn't get eaten by a bear). Ernesto goes on epic adventures across ocean and desert and tundra and meets many a friend along the way to share in his journeys. Peter makes it partway, nervously traversing the wilds and making friends too - the sort that help him to find his friend. I loved the illustrations with the gangling sloth arms and adorable facial expressions. And in the end, I just wanted to hang out in the treetops with Peter & Ernesto looking at the clouds and the stars <3
This was a lot of fun and subtly showed the changes in character made by two best friends, one who is fearful but loyal, and another who is ready to see the world beyond the canopy of the Rain Forest. I'd recommend this to any child. It's short and fun and moves quickly.
Super cute story about two sloths. Ernesto wants to go on an adventure while his friend Peter is scared. Ernesto leaves their home to see the sky. Ernesto sees all the fun things in the sky. I found this book to be very cute and entertaining. I would recommend this to everyone with children.
Young fans of graphic novels will appreciate the humorous illustrations as Ernesto the sloth leaves his friend Peter to go on a life-changing adventure. In a style reminiscent of the Elephant and Piggie books, this author has created an engaging story of friendship and the courage to follow your dreams. I would recommend this book for grades K-3.
A tale of sloth friendship and adventure begins when no longer content with the sky above, Ernesto sets off to see more pieces of the sky. Not a lazy sloth in the mix!
A friendship for the ages. Peter and Ernesto will steal your heart. A truly sweet, fun tale of adventure that will make you smile as you discover how differences between friends can make a relationship stronger.
