Another fantastic read! Kept me flipping pages for more while I sat and relaxed by the pool!

This was a YA contemporary romance story about a baseball player and a needlepoint enthusiast. I love an opposite attracts romance and this author didn't disappoint!

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the author via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

I've been blitzing through this series again when I realised I hadn't finished the last book, and I've rediscovered my love of contemporary, especially the ones that Entangled publish.

This time around, we have the story of Dylan, who we saw in the previous book, Swinging at Love. Last time we saw him, he was coming to terms with the fact that the girl he had had a crush on was Alyssa, who his best friend, Tristan, is now dating. He's decided that dating just isn't for him, not right now when he needs to focus on his future, and get himself in the best shape to impress scouts and hopefully get signed with a baseball team. Over the summer, he's leading a summer camp, coaching youngsters in pitching, both to keep him occupied and in shape, and also to look good to anyone who might be looking, whether that be other teams, or colleges like his parents want.

Lucy is the polar opposite to Dylan. She's more carefree in her life, tries not to take everything serious, and likes to find the fun in life. Working in her mam's craft store, creating her own pieces that aren't conventional, help her pass the time over the summer, and forget how sad she's feeling that her dad is stationed abroad, and has been the past few months. When her mam ropes her into taking her younger brother, Otis, to and from summer baseball camp, she finds herself getting closer to Dylan, and opposites attract.

Obviously, not everything can be perfect, and there's stormy weather ahead. Being different might work, but it might also be the very thing that will cause them to fall apart. And how about Otis' hero worship of Dylan? Will that cause them to have issues in their behaviour.

I still think that the first book in this series was my favourite, but I definitely enjoyed this one. Both Dylan and Lucy were good and reliable narrators, with funny sides, and serious sides, and they felt like real people. I could definitely relate to both of them at times: with Dylan about being so serious about the future, and with Lucy having a dad in the military. I could see the chemistry between them from the first time they met, which wasn't quite the perfect first meeting, but I was rooting for them. Having the angst done in the way that it was, was the perfect way that Kendra could've written this story, and now that I've read all three books in the Suttonville Sentinels series, I'm looking forward to more from her in future.

The high school baseball coach is making his players coach the elementary school kids. Otis is one of the kids on Dylan’s team and pretty much Dylan is his hero. Dylan wants to fast his way to the pros by starting in the minors and not going to college. His parents are against this plan but he thinks it is for the best. He has it all laid out. Lucy is Otis’ big sister, she teaches needlepointing and wants to help her bestie save her chicken farm. Neither have time for the other and yet time and time again they are paired together.

If you love stories where opposites attract this is the story for you. Dylan and Lucy could not have been more different. Him a Type A personality, her Type B. Both of them have stress on them, yet it is how they handle things differ vastly. Dylan straight-laced and no nonsense, Lucy feisty and a bit of a pistol. She is not however flakey as she does have a lot of responsibility on her plate.

My favorite thing about this story is that the parents were not absent. They were very much involved in both of their children’s lives. Dylan’s parents hoping for a plan B, as they understand that being a major league baseball player may not work out for him. Lucy’s parents being supportive of her, even with her dad being deployed. Regardless of their parents involvements they were still able to make their own decisions.

It takes a while for the chemistry to build between these two, although there were sparks right away. I like that they spare Otis the heartache of his coach dating his sister. I like even more when they decided to give it a go. There is some heart ached mixed in when the these two have communication issues.

Cute, fast read that will leave you sighing and thinking that love just may be real after all.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third book in the Suttonville Sentinels series by Kendra C. Highley. As far as I can tell, the series follows different characters set in the same world that Highley has created for these Suttonville Sentinels.

This book follows the Suttonville High's star pitcher, Dylan as he meets and falls in love with one of his baseball camp members sisters, Lucy. Lucy and Dylan are not supposed to see each other but sometimes, the right person comes along and they fit so perfectly in your life that you guys find a way to be together.

Dylan Dennings has plans for his future. He's going to work hard in high school, go to the minors and then work his way up into the Majors. He's got no time for girls or distractions. His baseball team is holding a camp at his school and he's coaching young pitchers. He's got a soft spot for one of his campers and is not at all happy that young Owen's sister Lucy is always around him. For some reason, Dylan is drawn to Lucy and her quirky personality and even though Owen has requested that Dylan not date his sister, Dylan and Lucy can't stand away from each other.

Lucy is busy. Her father is in the Army and is stationed overseas. Her mother is busy working at her sewing shop and in between school and work, Lucy is teaching classes at her Mom's shop and fitting in her own orders. She's a great seamstress whose work has great detail and she's gaining a small client list of her own. She also watches after her younger brother Owen who is missing his father something fierce. He misses having a man around so when he meets Dylan, he calls dibs on him. Dylan is his friend so when Dylan and Lucy start getting close, Owen is understandably territorial. He doesn't want to lose his new friend to his sister.

Dylan tries to respect Owen's wishes but it's hard when Lucy is driving him to distraction. The chemistry between them is hard to ignore and their romance was on one hand cute but on the other hand? It was frustrating. They bickered in the beginning and I wasn't here for that. The dialogue was pure cheese when they were fighting and when they were being school-kids but things certainly picked up as soon as they stopped fighting and began kissing.

Overall, this was a fast read with characters that grew on me. In the beginning, I wanted to throttle everyone but over the course of the story, I softened in my attitude toward everyone. Kendra C. Highley has done a great job with this series and I finished this book, wanting to read the books in this series that came before this one. It's a good one.

This is such a sweet little story. This book is about Lucy, a senior in high school, who is a free spririt of sorts. She works hard helping her mom in her sewing store, takes care of her little brother Otis, and saving chickens. She has a special talent for hand stitching embroidery and hopes to start her own shop straight after college. One problem Lucy is a little stressed and lonely. She has taken on extra work helping her mom and filling in her dads shoes, while he is deployed. Dylan is a senior in high school with a strict plan to join the minors in baseball as soon as he graduates. He is living his life on a very straight plan. Special diet, study hard, practice hard, and especially no girl friends. Then he bumps into Lucy and his whole world is turned upside down.

This book is a sweet story of two teens who are struggling to with life. The characters are wonderful. Lucy is sweet, funny and a little different from the cheerleader type. Her and her friend Serena are fee spirited girls who get into mischief with their causes. Dylan is a wonderful cute teen who has a hard time deviating from his goal as a baseball player and is real serious. So serious his friends and team mates call him “Iceman”. This book is a YA read, but does have some innuendos. I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it.

The “opposites attract” trope has been around probably as long as there have been stories, but in the hands of a lot of writers, it lends itself toward more of a shake of the head and a big ole “nope” as the reader wonders what drew these two together much less how could they have a future together. In Kendra C. Highley’s The Perfectly Imperfect Match I never once wondered. While Dylan and Lucy are opposites, they are both also good, caring people and that made the difference for me.

The thing with writing novels with tropes is that the plot can sometimes be unoriginal, but again Highley has injected a lot of originality, which you can see from the blurb. Lucy is direction-challenged, but she’s disciplined. She has her sewing in which she loses herself. She has strong beliefs that she stands behind. But she’s also the kind of girl who gives her heart and gives it in a big way. In that way, Dylan is the same as he is entirely lost in baseball.

There were no huge angsty moments, of which I was personally glad. Any drama seemed realistic and never fell to the “melo” part of the spectrum.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match ran the gamut of emotions until with the epilogue, although I kind of suspected what was going to happen, I shared tears of joy with Lucy. It’s a wonderful book that can do that.

After last year’s Defying Gravity, which I review here, I don’t know why I didn’t keep Kendra C. Highley on my radar, except for the excuse so many books…. I plan to do better in the future!

A summer beach read? Yep. I’d say so. Add it to your list if you like baseball, protective little brothers, creative heroines, and chickens. Oh, yeah, and skinny dipping.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Swoon worthy and adorable, that’s how I can best describe this book.

This is my second Suttonville Sentinels books, luckily they can all be read alone. It was so very sweet to watch these two characters develop and grow with each other throughout the book. We meet Lucy who is very out there and unique in her own right, she likes to sew which is not something common in young kids these days but it was great to watch and visualize. We also dive into Dylan’s life and his dream for becoming the next hot baseball star. These two are very determined people but in different ways. Where one is very low key and leaned back the other is very strict and regime in the things that they do.

It was fun to experience the full on attraction of this ying and yang couple. Sure there were some hiccups in the road, but it’s how they overcame them that mattered. I loved all the secondary characters like Tristen and Otis as well as Lucy’s mother. I really felt for her and her family when they would talk about their father and how they wish he was home from the military but it’s hard sometimes.

There were moments in this book where my heart would sink and soar and I would connect with the characters so much. Life is hard sometimes. Achieving your goals can be even harder, but it’s that determination and that strength that will always get you there, sometimes you just have to get sidetracked to get on the right path.

I thought this book was overall adorable and sweet. Very realistic it wasn’t insta love but there was definitely an instant connection between these two characters. I really believe that they needed each other in so many ways to show each other that there are other things out there sometimes it’s good to be free and sometimes it’s good to have order. Very quick and easy fun read. Loved the baseball facts throughout the book and the insight into previous characters as well.

Review: 3 out of 5 stars

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the first book that I have read in this series, it was cute, fluffy and light-hearted without the unnecessary angst which was a welcomed relief for me to read at this time.

Our MC’s are Lucy Foster who has dreams of pursuing a career in fashion and needlepoint and Dylan Dennings who dreams of making it to the minor league straight out of high school; two complete opposites who met when Lucy’s younger brother was being coached in baseball by Dylan.

Lucy was an interesting character, full of fun and full of life; she was quirky, disorganised, a bit of a rebel and loyal to a tee. I didn’t completely fall for pitcher Dylan instantly, he was way too structured and too rigid; I loved that he had dedication and was focused on his goal but he seemed to be putting everything including life on hold with his strict rules; he did eventually loosen up but it took a while. I enjoyed the interactions between these characters and their chemistry despite the many hot/cold and indecisive moments, their relationship wasn’t without a small amount of drama but nothing was dragged on. Both are struggling with responsibility, particularly with family and I felt the author dealt with this in a realistic way.

Little Otis was a great side character and I did enjoy the banter between him and Lucy in particular, I also liked Tristan, Alyssa and Serena; the friendships were written well.

I enjoyed Kendra’s writing style, it was engaging, humorous as times and entertaining – her characters were interesting. I would have loved a little more depth in the plot but otherwise this was a light and enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for giving me the chance to read this book.

I want to be best friends with Lori Foster! I loved how open she is, daring, and different. She doesn't worry too much about what others think. She challenges Dylan in every way possible. They were the perfect match! I loved the way their relationship played out. Great read!

The Perfectly Imperfect Match by Kendra C. Highly.....Another fantastic book that kept me flipping pages. I loved seeing the story play out for Lucy and Dylan. The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third book in the young adult contemporary romance series, called the Suttonville Senitels by Kendra C. Highley. I love that this series centers around the baseball team. It is a series formula that works so well with me, but before the Suttonville Sentiels I had only seen it done in the adult sports romance world, so I love that there is a young adult series that is doing something similar. I read and LOVED The Bad Boy Bargain and Swinging at Love, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. This series is a welcome smash hit for me! And The Perfectly Imperfect Match is a great addition to the series.

Just like all of the previous books in this series, The Perfectly Imperfect Match is chock full of cuteness. That is the best way to describe it. It is like a smile in a box. All of the books in this series are actually. Perfectly Imperfect Match is the story of Dylan and Luck. I liked this couple a lot, but I still think Faith and Kyle were my favorite couple but I adored them so much that it is hard to come close. Dylan is super rigid with everything in his life. Watching him with Lucy was tons of fun for me. They were both so different. Their story had a bit of a slower start for me, character wise, than the previous two books in the series, but once I got to know them a little better I really enjoyed them.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is a quick, light and fluffy read. There is not too much in the way of drama or roadblocks. It was perfect for a pool read. I finished it in one quick afternoon. If you are looking for a book that has a little drama and more meat (in that direction) to its’ bones, this might not be the book for you, but if you are looking for a quick young adult romance that is super cute check out The Perfectly Imperfect Match and the Suttonville Sentinels series. I loved the mature, yet still age appropriate, characters featured in this extra cute romance.

Awww, another wonderful Suttenville Sentiners book!!

Dylan was sweet and driven, and I really loved how Lucy was able to bring out more of his spontaneous side while he brought out a bit more of her "normal." The way they both were with Otis was pretty adorable and Otis himself a really cute addition to the whole story.

There is the perfect amount of sexy, sentimental and fun to this series and I love the baseball angle (I am not a baseball person, per se, but can appreciate the love of the game... and most definitely the body of a ball player!)

Really nice arcs too.

The story centers around two very unlike individuals: Dylan, the baseball player and Lucy, the needlepoint enthusiast. Their paths cross and everything in their lives changes. Typically, I relate the the female characters. But I have to say, in this case, Dylan was definitely way more me than I’d like to admit. His laser point focus is very much me and I can understand his struggle to keep focused and not let anything get in the way of his dreams.

Lucy is the opposite. I mean, she has dreams and aspirations, but she’s a lot more free and allows herself to enjoy life. When these two come together, it’s a tug and pull situation and it’s a sweet story. I liked the dynamic between the two and how they both needed each other for different reasons. Kendra has a special way of writing characters who are real and relatable and I love that about her books. I also really enjoyed the family aspect of the story and how personable it was.

If you’re looking for a cute summer read, this book is definitely for you!

This book was just so freaking cute and adorable!!! I loved it so much, this book was a quick read and it was the perfect mixture of everything I loved!

After Dylan’s initial heartbreak, all he wanted to do was focus on his baseball career. But when Lucy Foster enters his life, a lot of things start to happen differently. And after their first meeting, he doesn’t want anything to do with her, despite everything the chemistry between them is undeniable. Both of them are complete opposites, would a relationship between them be ever possible?

The plot of this book was fun and engaging. We first got a glimpse of Dylan in book 2 of this series where he fell for the same girl as his best friend. But now, he’s over that fact and he only wants to focus on his baseball. Dylan and Lucy come face to face for the first time when Lucy comes to drop off her brother for baseball coaching under him. And that’s when their face off starts! This book is not exactly enemies to lovers but quite close to that and I enjoyed every moment of it. The tension between them was quite palpable and I looved the angst! Both Dylan and Lucy were completely different from each other, whereas Dylan was the uptight and career oriented, Lucy was living in the moment kind of girl and hence, they balanced each other perfectly.

Underneath everything, Lucy had another side other than the carefree attitude. She took care of her mother, did stitches and embroidery in their shop and also took care of her little brother while her father served in te army. I enjoyed the family aspect of this book too. Especially Otis, Lucy’s little brother. He was just so damn adorable! And he reminded me a little of my kiddie brother. His insecurity was understandable when he voiced his opinion why he didn’t want them to date. But when he saw his sister hurt and crying, the way he defended Lucy’s honour in front of Dylan was just damn, too adorable!!! That scene was one of my absolute favourite in the entire book.

Despite all the differences, Dylan and Lucy both wanted to give them a chance. The chemistry between them was the off the charts and even they saw that. Their relationship escalated quickly and I have no complaints in that matter. I freaking loved the romance between them so much! Albeit, Dylan did mess up and to make up for his wrongdoing, the things he did was the sweetest ever and it melted my heart.

Overall, The Perfectly Imperfect Match was a fantastic read! The plot was executed neatly and I fell in love with each and every character! I loved the chemistry between our two main leads, Lucy and Dylan. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book. I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Lucy is a free spirited girl who has always marched to her own beat but would do anything for her family. Dylan is a very strict, dedicated guy getting over his recent crush gone bad, not interested in dating for fear it would get in the way of his goals. When Dylan ends up being the summer baseball camp coach to Lucy's beloved little brother Otto, sparks fly between Lucy and Dylan, but are they sparks of lust or hatred? The two could not be more different from each other, yet there is a pull, and they both find themselves having a hard time staying away...are such opposites really a good choice for a relationship?

Yet again, Kendra hits it out of the park (ha, like what I did there??) with book 3 in the Suttonville Sentinels series. All the books are about different characters and their challenges in finding love, but the one common factor is that the guys in each book play baseball on the Suttonville Sentinels High School team. They can be read as independent stories no problem, but it has been the best for me reading them in order. Each book will have a reference to the previous book, which fills me with happiness because I love the tie ins. That being said, this was an incredibly engaging, fast read that I sped through in one day because I did not want to put it down.

The plot was fun, with a few twists and dilemmas thrown in, but for the most part this was a character driven story, which I feel works the best for a romance story- you care about the characters so therefore you care about their relationship. I was a little uncertain about Lucy at the beginning, with her hot temper and take what you want personality, but I really liked her. She was willing to take chances, stand up for what she wanted and felt was right, yet she refused to be a doormat to anyone which I think I appreciated the most (and where can I get a chocolate amaretto cupcake??). Dylan was a little harder to crack though with his stiff demeanor and awkward personality, the few moments where he relaxed I was waiting for the shoe to drop and him to go crazy without structure. I think they worked so well as a couple since they both understood hard work, had goals and were not demanding of the other. Without them even realizing it, they complemented the other with their strengths and weaknesses balancing and learning from the other what they need. Yin and Yang at it's finest.

The ending of this book was absolutely perfect. This book overall was so sweet, making me feel all warm and fuzzy in my heart, and I wish it was a physical book in my hands so I could hug it to me. Can I just say how much I loved that this was not an angsty teen problem book: no gossip, no misunderstandings, no love triangles, but instead it was more about self discovery and learning how to pick the important battles and be a well rounded person.

I would have loved to see or at least hear about Kyle and Faith, but it was nice to see how well Tristan and Alyssa are together and how they interact with Dylan. It is 100 confirmed that I will read any book in the Suttonville Sentinels series and now I need to find Kendra's other books because I absolutely love the people she creates and how she puts her stories together so full of heart.

I received this title in return for my honest review.

Lucy was adorable and quirky and responsible and the kind of heroine we need in YA novels. Dylan was oddly focused and narrow minded, but sure was great with the kids at the baseball camp. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and the Suttonville Sentinels have a special place in my heart.

sigh
So honestly, I've been thinking what I should write in this review for days and days.
Because frankly my response to the book, is a big sigh. A good one mind you, the kind of sigh that is full of contentment and swoony cute & fluffy feels.
Yeah, so basically Highley killed any logical response I am trying to come up with. It is that cute.
The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third book in the Suttonville Sentinels series and I am pretty sure it's my favorite. I love that we get to revisit the previous books characters. It was an added bonus. But I should mention that this works as a stand-alone as well.. The support cast in this made me love the book even more, I love the different family dynamics. I adore the siblings relationships the most, though not really smooth sailing, it feels authentic and real. Having 3 sisters, being a middle child, meant I could relate to each situation. How ever while we at this, I found the brother's claims a bit annoying. I mean who owns anyone? Why even accept it? Because let's face it each person has his own place with everyone else and I think it's best one gets taught that really early in life, it saves a lot of dramas. I was very glad when that issue was settled.
Lucy and Dylan are both likeable, relatable and I adore them. I am not into baseball at all. But I understand them both a little. I was more of a rebel but I also was always driven. I think most people will be able to relate, because we all a bit of Lucy and Dylan, but more we all search for our way and try to hold to ideas of ourselves when we grow up.

The storyline is sweet and it has most of your typical cute & fluffy elements. But Highley has thrown in some cute twists and made it quite unique with some wonderful details. While I adore the story and I really enjoyed the book, my biggest issue lies in the romance. It is the reason why this is not 5stars for me as well. It was a bit, actually let's just say it as it is: It was a lot too insta for me. I completly got over it by the end but the first half, felt way too insta.

The writing style is just as expected insightful and contemporary. There is some great humor in here. But there are also some amazing, beautiful and moving descriptions. Those are my favorite part of the book and the main reason for my sighing.
I am hoping there is another book in the series, simply because they are the perfect cute and fluffy kind of read. Alas I have no clue what Highley plans to publish next, but I know I will read it.

A great book to take to the lake (or beach) with during a warm day!

Received in exchange of a honest review.

So I like that Dylan and Lucy both have a journey and both see the other wrongly at first. I like how Lucy is out to help Dylan lighten up while Lucy is learning to be a little more serious but not serious ie she has a lot on her plate but doesn’t always balance it well.

Lucy has taken a lot on her plate while her dad is away and sometimes she is scatterbrained. Of everything her love for her brother above everything else so her and Dylan have a hard time coming together at first.

Dylan is so focused on one way and feeling that his parents don’t believe in him that he misses the bigger picture. meeting Lucy has him change his ways. He starts to loosen up and question things. But he also has such respect for Lucy and all she is doing that it warms your heart. His way with her brother is heartmelting as well. He is an overall great guy I didn’t like his stupidity when things didn’t go as he liked but he learned and rectified that awfully fast. Watching his journey and how he and his family worked on things was great as was seeing him fall for Lucy.

Lucy learned things about herself as well. She also saw that not everyone is to be fit in a box. Her attraction for Dylan overrode this and she got to see that he isn’t just a jock. He is thoughtful, kind and honest. He works hard and is focused. Watching her get him out of his shell and try things was great. I loved how well they meshed together and helped one another. Both were supportive and respectful of each other.

the story was sweet and fun. Seeing Dylan loosen up and Lucy learn that not everyone fits in a box while they fell in love was equally adorable and entertaining..
