would like to thank the publishers for allowing me to read and review this amazing book

where has this author been all my life...
the skill with how this book was written and kept it reader on the edge of their seat is amazing to witness and that reader being myself i couldnt even put the book down..

the characterisations were done in such a way that you would see these people in the street and not recognise them that is how good this book was written...the storyline was believeable and kept you on your toes with so many twists and turns, you honestly couldnt predict what was going to happen next

this is one author i am going to be following from now on

Three stories intertwined each one keeping us guessing. Gritty heroine with interesting people in her life.

Ten years ago, Jessie Cole's sister Sophie disappeared. Jessie has spent those years chasing fruitless leads and caring for Sophie's daughter Olivia. Ben Morrison also experienced a tragedy ten years ago when he was in a horrific accident that left him unable to remember his life prior to that event. Ben suddenly experiences a flash of memory when he sees a picture of Sophie and believes he knew her. He and Jessie team up to try to piece together what happened on Sophie's last day.

This book was surprisingly good! I had never read anything by this author before, and I really enjoyed the book. I would be interested in reading some of her other works.

I received this ARC from NetGalley. This book was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! I really liked it and I couldn't wait to finish it and see what happened at the end because through most of it, I had no idea how it would actually end. I have never read a book by TR Ragan before and I was pleasantly surprised. From page 1, the book was suspenseful and interesting. The characters were great and the story, a little crazy, but not so that it was unbelievable. Jessie is a PI. Her sister had disappeared 10 years prior basically without a trace and she has been looking for her all that time while raising her niece. The other main character, Ben, is a crime reporter for the paper who was in a car accident and suffered amnesia so terrible that he can't remember his whole life before the accident. Bouncing back between the two of them and several other characters ranging from the serial killer who is so deranged yet fits into the story very well, and his victims who suffer unbelievably. The plot is complex but the author does a wonderful job weaving the storylines together leading to an ending that I did not expect. Definitely worth reading! I will look for more from this author!!!

Her Last Day by T. R. Ragan is the first in the Jessie Cole series. Jessie Cole is a private detective raising her young niece after the disappearance of her sister. This book held me captive from the first page. She really knocked it out of the park with this one! I've read all of T.R Ragan's series and this is my favorite (so far). Excellent cast of characters and a creepy serial killer. And a storyline that kept me reading late into the night. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves an excellent thriller.

*ARC provided by NetGalley for an honest review.

T.R. Ragan always has strong female characters and this doesn't disappoint. I'm normally partial to books set in the South, but I also enjoy these thrillers, especially stories told by a female author with a female protagonist. I like that there was more than one question in the story so that the reader has more than one thing to focus on. It's full of action and was a pretty quick read for me, which I like. I read during downtime at work (911 dispatcher) and it was a story that wasn't hard to keep up with when I had to go back and forth. I'd recommend it for anyone who enjoys the books written by T.R. Ragan. She has yet to disappoint me, as I also loved the Faith McMann and Lizzy Gardner series.

This book was fantastic I really enjoyed it. I am a fan of T.R. Ragan so I was excited to read this and it didn't disappoint. I hope that this is the start of a new series because the characters were great I would love to see more of them. This book had it all, it was emotional and tense and full of twists and turns. Excellent read!

*I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review*

I have always enjoyed T.R. Ragan's books. Her flawed heroines have always been complex and interesting. Jessie Cole is no exception. I was hesitant about picking up another PI book after loving the Lizzy Gardner series, but this one did not disappoint. At times it felt like perhaps there were too many different side stories but it eventually all came together. I've always respected the fact that Ragan doesn't insist on wrapping everything up in a perfect bow and a happily ever after. I can't wait to enjoy more of the addictive Jessie Cole series. Solid 4 star start.

Consider me hooked! I loved this book! I have read many of T. R. Ragan's other books including the Faith McCann series and some of the Lizzy Gardner which are all great! She is fantastic with character development, I instantly liked Jessie, Olivia, Zee, Ben, etc in this book. There are 3 different subjects going on during the course of this book, each just as interesting as the others so I was constantly entertained. You have Jessie who was asked to investigate the disappearance of Zee, a mentally unstable teen girl. I loved Zee! Next you have Ben. Ben, a crime reporter who is covering the Heartless Killer. Starts off with a scene in which he is in a horrible accident and survives but with amnesia and doesn't remember his past, how intriguing! Then you have Erin who has been abducted by the Heartless Killer, she was strong and feisty and I loved it. This book also centers on Jessie's sister Sophie who disappeared 10 years earlier, what happened to her? Will Jessie ever find out?. This book had me from the beginning scene until the end. I didn't want to finish reading. I hope there are many more to come with these characters. Very well written, suspenseful, fantastic character development. 5+ stars! Cannot wait for the next one. A big thank you to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for allowing me an early copy of this book, so very appreciated!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an advance copy of Her Last Day which introduces Sacramento PI Jessie Cole.

Jessie's sister, Sophia, has been missing for 10 years and while she hasn't given up totally she has scaled back her obsessive hunt until Ben Morrison, a journalist who lost his memory 10 years previously in a serious car crash, thinks he recognises Sophia's face when he sees a cold case documentary. He wants Jessie's help to re-examine Sophia's case but she doesn't have the time as she has been charged with murder in what she says is a self defence shooting and has to build a defence and has a missing schizophrenic to find. In the background the police are hunting a serial killer nicknamed the Heartless Killer.

This synopsis only covers the first few chapters of the novel. It takes off at breakneck speed and doesn't really let go throughout. It is very readable and extremely hard to put down. I say this in spite of my normal antipathy to multiple point of view novels (the first 5 chapters all have a different point of view). The style is inviting and there are plenty of unexpected events which aroused my curiosity rather than ire at the shifting perspective - I just wanted to know more and how it fits together. I had to wait for that, till about 40% in but it's worth it.

Jessie is a good protagonist. Her hunt for Sophia and having to look after Sophia's daughter, Olivia, meant that she put her own life plans on hold and became a PI. She is dedicated and very likeable with no obvious hangups., in fact an ordinary woman doing her best with the hand she has been dealt.

Her Last Day is not a particularly profound novel and it all slots together a bit too easily at the end but it's a good read with a twisting plot which held my interest throughout. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

I love T..R. Ragan's books for their brutal look at a society that has lost its moral compass. Her latest offering in a new series has PI Jessie Cole looking for her sister Sophie who disappeared years ago while also taking on the responsibility of raising Sophie's now teen-aged daughter Olivia. Entering the scene is reporter Ben Morrison who somehow knows what happened to Sophie but who has amnesia because of a car accident on the night she disappeared. Jessie is called on to investigate the disappearance of a schizophrenic teen named Zee who may have just fallen into the hands of the latest serial killer, known as the Heartless Killer. Ragan's latest book HER LAST DAY has so much action and so many things happening in it at much that it is like three Disney thrill rides at one time and you don't know whether you want to get off or buckle in. It really is a great read that you won't want to put down until you finish reading it and it is difficult to write a review without including spoilers because there is so much action that happens so quickly. You will not be sorry that you have picked up this book to read, but you will be sorry that it ended and you will want to read another adventure that stars Jessie Cole. I hope that this is the first of many of her investigations because this was a great read with just the right kind of punch at the end of each chapter to keep you reading until the end of the book. What a great ride!

I would like to thank Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Her Last Day’ by T R Ragan in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Jessie Cole is a private investigator whose strength is finding missing persons, yet she can’t discover what happened to her younger sister Sophie who’s been missing for ten years. Ben Morrison is a crime reporter for a Sacramento newspaper and he wants to know who or what he’d been before the horrific car accident ten years previously which caused his amnesia. But for some reason he remembers Sophie and hopes that with Jessie’s help he’ll find out what happened.
Meanwhile, a serial killer nicknamed the ‘Heartless Killer’ who enjoys torturing and mutilating his victims sets his sights on Jessie.
After reading every novel in the Lizzy Gardner series and the Faith McMann trilogy I didn’t think they could be improved on, but T R Ragan has done it again. ‘Her Last Day’ is a compelling thriller, absorbing, dramatic and full of action, with a gripping finale. I can wholeheartedly recommend this brilliant novel and look forward to the next one

Ragan begins a new series featuring PI Jessie Cole and investigative reporter Ben Morrison. The two are united by a tragedy that literally destroyed their worlds a decade earlier. Jessie, who finds missing persons for a living, has never forgiven herself for not being able to find her own sister, Sophie. Ben was in a terrible auto accident that nearly took his life and his sanity, and that did cost his a good part of his memory. Strangely, the one thing he remembers is Sophie, but where and how she fir in his life, he can’t remember. Now, a dormant serial killer has risen from under the rocks where he’s been hiding and he has a very specific target in mind. Ragan creates the best heroines – believable, strong and take no prisoners, kick ass women

A brand new series by the author of the Lizzy Gardner series, as well as the Faith McMann Trilogy. As I have read all of her books, I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. Her books are well-written with terrific characters, even if they are riddled with issues and scars ...inside and out.

What you get with HER LAST DAY :

PI Jessie Cole, who's raising her niece, after her sister disappeared 10 years ago

Ben Morrison, Crime Reporter, who was in a car crash 10 years earlier, and has no memory of anything before that time.

A psychopathic killer, dubbed the Heartless Killer, who was cruelly abused as a child

A girl in a box

A man named Dog

A house of torture

A schizophrenic captive

A knife

Blood .. lots of blood

The suspense starts on the very first page and doesn't let up until the very last. There are multiple players in this thriller, making it hard to guess how it all ends. I really look forward to the next book in this series.

Many thanks to the author / Thomas & Mercer / Netgalley for the advance digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
