I am voluntarily reviewing this arc of this book. They have known each other for years. Her sister n him runs a business together. They hike and do whatever adventure is set up. She is a book store owner. They have this chemistry together and they try their best to not act upon it. After a tragedy he goes away she is left to deal with it. He makes her finally go do the last wish. It is a great book
This was a pretty hardcore tear jerker. Not my usual preference but good for what it was.
The second I read in the synopsis that the heroine was a bookstore owner, I immediately knew that I had to read this book. What an absolute dream job for a bookworm! I found Jane to be quite relatable. She was funny, intelligent, and a little sassy. Caleb was a sweetheart. His needling of Jane to spend more time outdoors was quite amusing. I love a good friends to lovers story, and this one fit the bill nicely.
Jane - living in the shadow of the vibrant, athletic, outgoing and beautiful sister Samantha.
Jane- plain, owner of a bookstore, smart, funny, sarcastic, compassionate, loyal, a beautiful sister.
While Jane's sister is out globetrotting with her business partner Caleb on expeditions and living life to the fullest, Jane runs her own successful business enjoys her friends- she's content. When Caleb and Sam breeze back into town we get a glimpse of the sweet bond between sisters and how much they love one another despite their differences. Caleb and Jane always banter back and forth with sarcasm and wit. They have always acted like siblings until well they just didn't! Why- well they each start seeing the other in a different light which is nothing brother/sister. Of course they don't tell each other.
Unfortunately Caleb is the one who must deliver the devastating blow to Jane about her sister's death. He knows he will always be remembered by her as the one to ruin her world. Sam's request of Jane in her will leads Caleb and Jane on an emotional journey to honor Sam's memory. With them each completely aware of their attraction they each doubt where they stand with one another. Thinking they are complete opposites, the journey reveals they have a lot more in common than at first glance. These two are stubborn, that's for sure. Working out their differences, their fears and their future was a journey in itself. Sam may have led them on the journey to honor her last wishes but she actually led them on a journey of forever dreams.
This book was not what I was expecting. I didn't really care for Caleb.
The only thing I l did love was the ANNE OF GREEN GABLES part of the book. It has been a favorite of mine since I was little.
This book was amazing. Jane and Caleb have known each other for years, both not realizing what is right in from of them. When the person that ties them together is lost to them, it will take soul searching, forgiveness, and acceptance before they both realize what it is to be happy. This book makes the reader go on a rollercoaster ride of so many different emotions, crying one minute then yelling the next. I look forward to reading more books from this author. Thank you NetGalley and Abigail Storm for allowing me to read this ARC and write a honest review.
Jane and Caleb both carry a great deal of pain with them. In fact, they've been in love for years, but that love was blocked by pain and fear. As time passes after the death of Jane's sister, they start to heal and realize that maybe, with some compromises, things between them will work out.
This author is one of my favorites and this story is a big departure from what I am used too. But it totally works and I enjoyed this story. It is very well written and I loved the characters. That said it is a HUGE tearjerker. HUGE.
I don't really go for tear jerkers but if you do then you will LOVE this story. In this book we get to know two very different sisters, Sam and Jane. Jane is the less adventurous sister in everything from dating to life while Sam is not afraid of anything and has an extreme adventure company with her bestie, Caleb.
Caleb has been Sam's bestie forever. They were always like brother sister and Caleb wishes thats what he felt for Jane was brotherly. He LUSTS for Jane and before anything happens with themsomething happens to Sam. And thats when the tears start falling and even typing this brings back the tears.
Can Jane and Caleb move on? Together or apart? That is the question and one that is not easy to come by. As I bring a box of tissues for this book. It is extremely well done and my heart broke for Jane and Caleb.
4.5 STARS
"Tell Me" by Abigail Strom. Wow! What a heartwarming and heartbreaking story all in one. Jane and Caleb - two souls that believe they are only in each other's universe because of Jane's sister Sam. But oh, how wrong can two people be? I really liked each character - their positives and their negatives. Ms. Strom certainly takes the reader on an emotional journey. My heart hurt for both of them and at other times, rejoiced for them too. I could not put this one down as I found I was emotionally invested in the tale and needed to know what would happen next. This is my second story but Ms. Strom and I can say without a doubt, it won't be my last. (received ARC for honest review)
