Book was good, but it wasn't something that I would want to read again.

Sometimes the line between blogger and fan gets blurred. I started reading Rising Star as a blogger to clear my reading list. But my reading quickly became that of a fan, as I was quickly reminded why I was one of Terri Osburn's first fans. She drew me into the story with likable, relatable, everyday characters. Dylan Monroe may be an up and coming country singer but he's real. He's just a guy from Louisiana with manners galore. He doesn't want to be famous. He just wants to make music. Charley Layton is an up and coming DJ. She is probably one of the best people at doing her job, but she doesn't know it. She doesn't want Dylan for fame or fortune. She just wants him for him.

Rising Star is one of those stories that surprised me. I wasn’t expecting to immediately start laughing. I wasn’t expecting to have happy endorphins filling my body throughout the entire book. Not only were Charley and Dylan great characters but so were the secondary characters. Many of whose stories I definitely would love to read. I really liked that Rising Star was a story about Dylan and Charley coming together without having baggage from the past weighing them down.

I simply loved everything about Rising Star. I highly recommend reading it. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for the stars of Shooting Stars Records.

I liked this start to a new series. The main characters, Charley and Dylan, were both very likable. i enjoyed watching then get to know one another and develop feelings for each other. The backdrop of the country music scene added to the story, and the storyline kept me interested. This was a tender romance that made for a really good book. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Charley is a radio DJ for Eagle 101.5. She is out celebrating her birthday and she meets Dylan. They end up going to his apartment, they start talking and he plays one of the songs he wrote to her.
A few days later he and his band come to her radio station for an interview. She is surprised because she didn't know he was in a band or ready to start a tour and promote their new album.
Dylan's manager is somewhat of a jerk and throws roadblocks in their path of love at every turn. I really enjoyed this book. I am waiting patiently for the next one in the series.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is a very enjoyable book – and I am looking forward to more installments. Ms. Osburn does a great job of introducing us to a new set of interesting people and the Nashville scene. There were plenty of side stories which could develop in the future, and a very satisfying core too.

This book does a really good job of getting us right into the music world, and unusually also brings in radio – which is of course an excellent complement and gives Charley a good career to fit with Dylan's; win win. The fact that it is country music also tones down the expectations of crazy; although fans will be fans!

I don't know where Ms. Osburn got her inspiration for Elvis, and especially his full name, but it was unexpectedly funny and throws naming rules out of the window! I am looking forward to finding out more about his little entanglement too.

Really a well-crafted, sexy, fun, and entertaining read, roll on book #2!

Can two career driven individuals meet and not expect to fall in love? That’s what happens when singer/songwriter Dylan Monroe meets radio DJ Charley Clayton. Charley is finally doing her dream job being a DJ at the hottest country station in Nashville. Dylan is getting a second chance at getting his singing career started again and is counting on Shooting Stars agency getting him there. When they meet at a bar and they spend the evening together they never would have thought that they would find that special one to fall in love with. Both would say that the timing was bad but maybe this was meant to be. With each new day they realize they might have a chance at making this work if they have a little faith and trust in each other.

Rising Star is a fun and enjoyable story that I finished in no time. The characters were well developed and the witty dialogue was smart and funny. Charley is a strong and independent woman who wasn’t going to let anyone sidetrack her from her job. Relationships came second and she tried to stay away from Dylan but his charm kept her seeing him again and again. Dylan was the perfect hero and I fell in love with him. He didn’t come on too strong and got to know her and what she liked and really cared for her. All the characters were interesting and added more to the developing romance. The romance that developed between Dylan and Charley developed fast but had its sweet moments and some very sexy times.

I’m so glad I fell in love with the cover for Rising Star because it introduced me to a new author and her wonderful writing style. The story was engaging and the characters very likeable. The secondary characters that were introduced were just as dynamic as the main characters and I hope to see them later. I can’t wait to read more from Terri Osburn and the next book of the Shooting Stars series.

When Dylan and Charley meet at a bar, sparks immediately fly and fate is set into motion.

I loved the aspect of this novel. Up and coming country music singer meets a young and fresh DJay. I have yet to read something like this when it comes to novels with a music aspect. I was intrigued and curious to see how this would go.

A brilliant start to a new series. This story centres around Dylan Monroe, an aspiring country singer, and Charlie Layton, a Nashville radio DJ. They meet at a bar and insane chemistry sees them going home together, though Charlie sneaks away in the middle of the night. They meet again a few days later when Dylan comes to be interviewed on her show and their relationship starts from there. This was just about perfect! It wasn't wildly original , but honestly I don't expect that from a romance novel, but it was extremely well written. Osburn created characters who were immensely likeable and sympathetic. There was maybe a touch of too good to be true, but that was fine. Dylan made me swoon😍 Enough hints were dropped about other characters from Shooting Stars Records that I can't wait to read the next in the series when it comes out next year.
Highly recommended.

Charley Layton is a woman focused on her career. So, starting something with Dylan Monroe is out of the question, but spending one night with him would definitely be worth it. However, Charley didn't expect to see Dylan again, and when she discovers he's the guest act on her radio show there's no way she can ignore him. Yet, when Dylan's dream starts to become a reality and he finds himself a star loved by thousands of fans, will he and Charley's relationship survive or will Dylan lose the woman that he wants forever after with?

Ms. Osburn is a wonderful author and her books are a real treat to read, and this story starts off her Shooting Stars series brilliantly. Because it's a story about how a one-night stand can lead to so much more, encompasses two compelling main characters that I loved from start to finish, and riveting dialogue that had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether the heroine will be able to handle the lifestyle of an up and coming country star. The way this story started drew me in immediately, as the opening line was totally amusing and I wanted to know whether a certain secondary character would get her wish in seeing a certain male body.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and I loved every moment the hero and heroine conversed. Both are determined to focus on their careers with Dylan becoming more and more popular as a country music artist and Charley becoming more and more popular as a radio host. Will their relationship survive when Dylan's popularity skyrockets to the point where he doesn't have much time to spend with the heroine? Will Charley be able to handle the women that throw themselves at the hero? Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave, independent, hard-working and I liked how determined she was when it came to her career. I also liked how Charley stood up to her friend -- the man-hater -- when the woman was so determined to write Dylan off like all the men that have ever disappointed her, even though Dylan is a good guy that would do anything for Charley. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is her friendship with Elvis, one of the secondary characters, and that he would do anything to protect her from getting hurt. In other words, Dylan better watch out.

While the hero, he's been through a lot already when it comes to his music career, but hopefully now things are finally starting to come right for him. Furthermore, he's confident, hard-working and very determined when it comes to winning the heroine's heart and doing everything he can to succeed in his music career now that he's been given the opportunity of a lifetime. I also liked that he wasn't afraid to go head-to-head with the secondary characters that were determined to protect the heroine when it came to their relationship. Will he win Elvis and Charley's roommate over? Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is the decision he made towards the end that would be most beneficial for him as well as the heroine, especially since someone was determined to make trouble for this couple's relationship.

Overall, Ms. Osburn has delivered a remarkable and smoking hot read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was instant and intense from the moment they met; the romance was delightful and had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after; and the ending had me loving how far the hero was willing to go to win back the heroine. Certainly, a face-off with one of the heroine's friends wouldn't be easy, especially considering the person's past career. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, because of how far Dylan has come in his career, which is proven by the surprise announcement when it comes to his talent. I would recommend Rising Star by Terri Osburn, if you enjoy the surprise pregnancy trope or books by authors Jaci Burton, Melissa Foster, Marina Adair and Catherine Bybee.

Rising Star by Terri Osburn
A Shooting Stars Novel, Book 1

I love books that make me want to step into and become part of them. This book made me wonder what it would be like to be a DJ on the radio as well as think about what being a star really means. Who is behind the person who makes it to stardom? Who assists and who doesn’t? What does it take to be the significant other of a star? What qualities are required to make it to the top? This book made me think and that is always a good thing. It also made me feel and care and kept me entertained.

Great characters in Dylan Monroe and Charley Layton – their chemistry sizzled though their communication missed a few beats from time to time. In addition to the H/h that kept me tuned in with more than conversation there were other worthy characters that intrigued me that I would love to see in future books. I have a feeling Chase and Naomi may show up in book two of the series but before the series ends I do hope that Clay and his ex-partner Tony can be friends again AND that Clay finds professional success AND a romance that will provide him with a HEA.

I have a feeling that Dylan and his band, Charley’s friends Matty and Elvis and some others may keep making appearances as the series progresses and I look forward to following this series as each book comes out.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC – This is my honest review.

5 Stars

Dylan Monroe is a country singer/songwriter getting a second chance at making it in his chosen profession. He has just signed a contract with Shooting Stars, a new record label in the industry. Dylan has lived the single life but is now looking for more. He is a Southern boy, charming and well mannered.

Charley Layton is a DJ with a local radio station. After being burned, her career comes first and she doesn’t do relationships. She prefers being behind the scenes and not in the spotlight.

Dylan and Charlie meet at a bar and go home together. Dylan loves Charley’s intelligence, sass, the way she speaks her mind and down to earth personality. When he wakes up alone, he’s determined to go after her.

I liked Dylan’s character. He’s a good guy. He seems to just know when to push Charley and when to back away. Charley annoyed me at times. For all her I don’t do relationships attitude, she caved to Dylan’s request to see where things could go pretty easily.

There is some music industry info but the story doesn’t get bogged down in those details. Good cast of supporting characters. Many opportunities for future books. You know by the end of the book which pair is up next. This is not a heavy, involved read. It’s a day at the beach, quick, easy read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.

A great start to a new series, with the glitz and glamour of Nashville and plenty of romance makes for the perfect read. I have never been to Nashville but now I so want to go.

Dylan is an upcoming singer, songwriter and has no time for relationships until he meets Charley. Charley is the new DJ on the country radio station, her career is first and foremost and relationships are the last thing on her mind. But after a one night fling, Dylan knew what he wanted, Charley!! Now only to convince Charley of the same.

Loved the chemistry between Dylan and Charley, they will have you smiling and laughing. Plus they are hot in the bedroom!!

I highly recommend this book. Can't wait to read more in the series!!

Rising Star is the first in a new series by Terri Osborn and as a fan of her writing, I was looking forward to this new book. I was not disappointed!

Dylan Monroe is a singer/song writer who has just had his first single released and is trying to find his way in the Nashville music scene. He is easy on the eyes and has quite a following of young women who are just hoping for a chance with him.

Charley Layton is a d.j. with the local country music radio station and is fully focused on her career. She is used to handling her life on her own and has no time for a relationship. A chance encounter with Dylan at a local hangout on her birthday leads to a romantic tryst…. Charley claims it is a one -night stand but cannot seem to get Dylan out of her mind (or her heart!) Their chemistry is electric and you know in your heart they belong together.

Both Dylan and Charley have visions of what they want in life and neither wants to give up on those dreams. Can they have a relationship and still pursue those dreams or will an unexpected surprise derail their dreams and their futures? Dylan wants more than a no strings attached relationship but can he convince Charley to give him her heart? No spoilers here so you will have to read it on your own to find out.

The book is well written and I look forward to reading more in the series. There is a cast of characters from this book who are just waiting to have their stories told!

I love that there seems to be a trend in that is moving away from "alpha" bossy jerks who have the word "smirk" constantly used for their arrogant expressions.

This is a book that follows this trend admirably. With this story you get a hero who is a man with good character. We need more of those!

The story is a good one, especially if you like country music and the Nashville scene. Even though that isn't my strong point, I still enjoyed the book.

Fun book. The story is full of delightful characters, conflict, and developing relationships. I really liked the characters of Charley and Dylan, and enjoyed their path to HEA. A good read!

When I first requested a copy of Rising Star, I have to admit, It was simply a cover request. Sexy man in a cowboy hat, I could not resist! And I'm glad that I have no control over my brain when it comes to sexy men in cowboy hats!

Rising Star is the story of a struggling musician/songwriter Dylan Monroe and a new radio D Jay Charley Layton.

A few years back Dylan had it all by the tips of his fingers until his all wasn't good enough. He was let go from his label and tossed aside. But no matter what Dylan kept fighting and a new label (Shooting Stars) eventually caught wind of him.

Charley Layton has always wanted to be a part of the country music world, but not being able to play an instrument or carry a tune in a bucket has made that dream difficult for her. At a young age she decided she would be a radio D Jay. Now she is the D Jay for one of the hottest country radio stations in Nashville TN.

When Dylan and Charley meet at a bar, sparks immediately fly and fate is set into motion. But fear sets in when feelings start to get real.

I loved the aspect of this novel. Up and coming country music singer meets a young and fresh DJay. I have yet to read something like this when it comes to novels with a music aspect. I was intrigued and curious to see how this would go.

Rising Star was a cute as hell novel. I literally was over here swooning over Dylan Monroe. He's a man with a kind heart and a set of manners to go along with. He's sweet and endearing. He knows how to treat a woman. There is not a single asshole bone in this mans body, but don't let that deter you from reading. Dylan Monroe is also cocky but in a hilariously charming sense.

He and Charley vibe just right.

I really enjoyed this novel and I can't wait to read more from Terri Osburn and the Shooting Stars series!
