I love children's Christmas books and we have quite a large collection, so I was happy to discover this new gem. It is cute and reads quite easily so my 6 year old can read it to my 3 year old. Love the illustrations too.
This way to Christmas is a charming rhyme about a group of forest animals getting together to celebrate Christmas. As each animal joins the procession children can discover what they are carrying and where they are going. Perfectly illustrated and easy to follow this would be welcome addition to the Christmas reading for very young children.
Forest animals are bringing things that are used for Christmas to a get together at Fox's house. The reader tries to figure out what each animal has and there are pictures on every other page showing the item. A cute holiday book that is great for any youngster.
This book is a sweet Christmas story. It follows animals on a journey as they bring things together for a Christmas gathering. Brightly colorful & super sweet.
This was kind of cute. Nice little stocking stuffer for the little ones with sweet illustrations!
A fun picture book about forest animals celebrating Christmas together.
I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
In this picture book perfect for the Christmas holiday, the forest animals are each carrying something special for the holiday. Someone is carrying the Christmas star, another animal as a glass ornament and another has a plate of cookies. Together they will come together to celebrate Christmas.
This book was translated from Dutch. It is about animals and Christmas. It doesn't read well as a digital book but I bet it would be a great book in hand. Cute illustrations.
A sweet story of Christmas giving with great illustrations. Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ebook for review.
The illustrations in this book are very cute but because I don't believe the formatting is correct I'm not going to review this book on any social media sites. The photos don't match up with the dialogue on the page :( I don't want to do a disservice to the author but I suggest that someone check this ARC for mistakes.
thank you
As my grandson and I read this book, he tried to name the item that the animal was carrying before I read it in the book. He also named the animals so he was quite engaged. Each animal has something to add to the Christmas Celebration in the Fox Den. The illustrations were delightful and the book was happy. I liked that it ended with the owl going to read the Christmas Story. That can lead to discussion about what Christmas means to the reader whether it is the Christian belief or just the cultural aspect of the holiday. A great addition to a family library or a pre-school/kindergarten class.
This is a lovely Christmas-themed story that can be read to small children any time of year. One by one, forest animals add themselves to a group one their way to Fox's home for an annual holiday celebration. Reindeer is pulling a tree, Bear is carrying an ornament, Birds are bringing a string of lights, and Mice are bringing wrapped presents.
The illustrations look almost like paper cutouts, placed on a lavender background. Simple and appealing, they're a series of pictures of the animals trekking through the snow with their treasures, slightly reminiscent of the Kings.. My only complaint was that some of the detail didn't show very well on the brown animals (it could have been because I received an ebook copy for review. There may be much richer detail in the board book).
Originally published in Belgium and the Netherlands in 2016, this is the first English translation.
An unknown narrator asks each animal—one per page—what they’re carrying in their hands or backpacks. Since the title pretty much gives it away, you can guess where this is going.
Each animal gets an adjective before its species name, with Rabbit getting the worst of it with “silly.” Owl gets to be “wise,” of course, and has the easiest job.
The artwork is as rudimentary as any I’ve seen, but that works here with the usually bleak winterscapes. The prose is also simple, fitting the age group this is going for.
This is a very cute book perfect for sharing the Christmas spirit with little ones. The colors are bright and plenty of things used during Christmas are mentioned. Such a sweet little book.
An excellent and concise story that children would love and a teacher's dream.
I read this with my son as i find it's always good to get a child's perspective on a book! His verdict was that its lovely and he wants to visit with all the animals in the story!
The colours and cute pictures in this book make it so special, and the overall message of togetherness makes this a story that i will read to my son this Christmas and perhaps for many Christmases to come!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.
There's a real sense of joyfulness to this book, which combines several things little ones love: forest animals, colorful illustrations, and Christmas! The story is a simple one, as the forest animals are all taking various festive things with them - but where are they on the way to? There's a nice repetition which creates some rhythm, even though there isn't any rhyming etc. I see the book has been translated from its original language, so I wonder how the English-language version compares, in terms of the text (did it rhyme or have a sing-song rhythm in the original Dutch?). No matter - it's a fun story with lovely illustrations, in a simple but effective style, that preschoolers will love. Easy to read, and full of fun and the spirit of Christmas.
A fun story for the holidays that will grace many library shelves. Good for a quick good night on a cold winter’s night.
