A really good first book for the new Shifter Rogues series and I can not wait to read the next one . It was a book that kept me wanting to know what was coming next, I plan on curling up this weekend and re-reading it .The story is Cougar shifter Abby Carter and wolf shifter Declan Reed the interaction between these two is very good. With bad people out to get her I needed to know what was going to happen ?

First book in Celia Kyle's new series Shifter Rogues, Wolf's Mate is a paranormal romantic suspense. I really liked the premise of the book but I did have some issues with it. It kind of just threw you into the story, the guys a have been a team for a while and you can tell, with how it just throws you in it almost feels like you're missing something in the story. I wasn't as emotionally involved with the characters as I normally like, and it took a while for me to really get a feel for the secondary characters. But by the end of the book enough had happened that I really do want to find out what happens next.

Declan Reed knows his wolf has a dark side, a dangerous side he's given into it and as a way to channel it he joined the Shifter Operation Command, SHOC, a clandestine group that does the dirty work for the shifter's council. The mission they are on now it purely information seeking only to find out if the company, FosCo, has any link to the anti-shifter group, Unified Humanity. Declan gets sidetracked when an accountant doing audits finds something she's not suppose to.

Abby Carter's accountant company was hired to do the audits for a big corporation, while she was there she dug where she wasn't suppose to and found evidence that FosCo is financially supporting the anti-shifter organization that she suspects murdered her family. Working quickly she manages to copy everything onto her tablet before the FosCo president and his UH armed thugs find her and try to kill her, luckily before they can do any real damage another guy shows up and rescues her. Abby in a panic of not knowing who she can trust runs for it but not before getting shot. Declan catches up with her finally but not before she hides the tablet.

Abby is in a shit load of trouble now not only because the UH is after her but now the head of SHOC wants her in his custody to question her about what she knows and if she's involved. Declan knows what than means and it's nothing good so he goes AWOL and takes her with him. Everything about Abby calls to Declan, he needs to protect her at all costs even if it means doing it alone, lucky for him his team agrees with him that the director of SHOC doesn't need Abby just her tablet. But nothing is what it seems and sometimes you shouldn't trust the person closest to you.

Overall, by the end the book really had me into it, aside from one or two slow parts and it being a little predictable it was an exciting book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Declan and Abby. Abby is a simple accountant, ok maybe not simple but an accountant none the less. So when she finds a discrepency she first takes it to the manager. When she finds out what a large sum it is she makes sure to back-up all her work and try and get out of there. To bad for her the person who is using the money wants to make sure that no one escapes knowing about this money that includes her. What is a girl to do hope that someone will save her or try and make it on her own? This is the question Abby finds herself asking and she better find and answer quick.

Declan is part of an elite group that is suppose to observe and report. There is something about Abby though that simple observation is becoming harder and harder to do. So when someone is coming to kill Abby he does the only thing he can think of he goes in to save her. However things don't exactly go as plan and now he has to find her and save her again. What is a wolf to do when everything in him cries out for her? Can he really leave her out there on her own or in the hands of a mad man?

This book has it ups and downs that will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. There is so much I want to tell you about this book but don't want to ruin any of the surprise that are in this book. I would however highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I wanted to like this. By God, I did! I’ve been basically starving for good ol’ paranormal romance and I was so excited that I saw a couple of new series pop up on my radar these months. But as soon as I opened up this book I got this feeling it wasn’t going to go my way.

It really is nothing against the storyline because it wasn’t half bad. It wasn’t the writing in itself either. But first, the characters and their approach rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning and it never let up. I would find myself rolling my eyes at some of the things that happened or they said. It wasn’t one in particular, I just didn’t end up liking any of them. The heroine should’ve been smart and then she would do something stereotypical and dumb, the hero was pushy at times and I would’ve loved to see more layers to his character. And then the side characters would annoy me as well. I can’t pin this on one particular thing they did, I just didn’t like being in their head too much or listen to their banter.

That being said, and although I was interested in the plot, the pacing was killing me. There’s a lot of what felt like filler to me and maybe this goes back to my previous point because if I had been more interested in the characters then maybe I would feel different about this. But reading this book felt like it dragged for me and I honestly thought several times to just DNF it but I wanted to give it a shot and see if by the end I would change my mind.

Honestly, I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t like it. I should’ve, I wanted to. I tried. In the end, this just wasn’t the book for me. And while there are some good points about this (I did manage to finish it after all!) it wasn’t enough to make me want to continue reading the series.

Declan was done with his shift but still watched Abby . Declan’s partner was was a shifter called Cole. Declan was a wolf shifter. Declan and Cole were with SHOC Team One and their target was Fos Co the multinational company headquarters across the street. Abby had walked into FosCo’s lobby four days ago. Abby was a cougar shifter. Even if Abby wasn’t a Fos Co employee According to SHOC’s files Abby is employed by the accounting firm of Ogilive, Piers, and Patterson for six years. Abby still worked on her Master's degree as she studies for her C P A exam. DeClan liked looking at Abby. SHOC Team One’s members shared a few traits: they were all loners, reveled in making people mad, and had a penchant for breaking the law{s}. DeClan’s team was the best of the bad. DeClan went to the roof of the building to watch Abby. Eric was FOSCO's president and he told Abby to ignore a certain account as they hadn’t had time to close the account. But in Abby’s world two and two equaled four not five million dollars - poof-gone. When money shuffled through accounts with no mention anyway there was a big problem. Abby entered the accounting firm’s server and dug deep and looked for her predecessor- Martha’s notes. Then she found Martha’s notes with every password Eric used - personal and professional. Then Abby Found out where the five million plus more went. Also Abby saw where other large amounts come in and went out. FOSCO was a supporter of Unified Humanity which was the organization that was famous for it’s hate of shifters. They killed pups and cubs without hesitation, entire families gone with a single bomb. Death and destruction to shifters were their whole reason for being. When the smoke cleared shifters couldn’t go to to human authorities as shifters were still a secret from most humans. Abby would leave as soon as she dug deeper and had copies of everything she had unearthed. Unified Humanity had destroyed Abby’s life twenty years ago. Now she would take all the data she could so that the shifter council could destroy Unified Humanity. Something was wrong with Abby, Declan noticed the tension Abby now had. Also Abby had a determined expression on her face and panic in her eyes. Something had gone sideways in her world. His wolf hated how Abby was feeling now. Grant told his boss Eric was headed back to the office with four other men. Something that wasn’t at all normal for Eric to leave his home once he got there from work. Abby stumbled onto something and Eric had been alerted. Grant also said the four had weapons. Declan ignored his boss and was determined to save Abby and not let her be killed and that is what he did but even though Abby had been shot she got away from Declan. Abby escaped by by the sea and DeClan couldn’t understand why a cat would do that. Abby had been an orphan and at eight to eighteen a family of seals had raised Abby. That was why Abby was comfortable in the sea even as a cat. A bby also had her tablet and Birch who was the team one’s leader said they wanted the tablet especially since Abby had risked her life for it. Abby hid the the tablet in an underwater cave near Palm Island. Abby made it to her home but then DeClan and the team put a blanket over her head and put her in a van. Abby felt a warmth that cut through her coldness from one of the people in the van. Then the council wanted Abby and DeClan knew they would hurt Abby if they didn’t find out what they wanted to know. So DeClan ignored the alpha of the team-Birch and escaped with Abby. Abby and DeClan made it to his home and they were safe for the night. DeClan saw Abby’s back and it was terribly scarred from when she was eight and United Humanity had bombed her home and her mom had been pregnant. Abby had hid as she had been taught for two days after that she had been sent to the seal shifter family as the woman was her godmother. DeClan had to turn rogue and SHOC would now have hunters after both Abby and DeClan. But DeClan would do anything to keep Abby alive and safe.
I loved this story, the plot, the pace and how it was written. I also loved how this big bad assassin type men were brought together and worked hard and put their lives on the line to try to all shifters safe. I loved DeClan, he was such a bad butt but from the minute he saw Abby he was done. DeClan could not let Abby be hurt and broke the rules where he was now to be hunted from the team who was suppose to be like family but hand Abby over to the director. I liked how Birch and the team came around and took DeClan’s side and helped him and Abby. This was a good read. I had no problem keeping my attention on this. I didn’t want to put the book down. I really couldn’t find anything I didn’t like/love about this story which was great. I loved Abby and DeClan together. I loved how gradually Abby got used to being marked and DeClan’s mate forever. I also chuckled at times while reading this. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

It is no secret that I am a huge paranormal romance fan and that I love reading them no matter if it is vampires, shifters, demons or well whatever an author can dream up. When I started Wolf’s Mate I was hoping that this would be yet another book I would love and want to read again and again.

Unfortunately, the strong start it had quickly went downhill. I don’t know if it suffered from first book in a new series syndrome, meaning a lot of buildup, things being dragged out and so much going on I started to lose interest. The suspense and action was good and the storyline overall was interesting but it was not holding my interest like I had hoped.

I was annoyed more than once with Abby, I just never fully connected with her character. Pretty quickly into the book I knew I would have issues with her and sadly I did. Declan was hot, sexy, protective, all the things I usually love in a shifter male but even he at times rubbed me the wrong way and made me want to scream.

Now with all that being said, I do want to read the next book, there have been plenty of times that I didn’t love the first book in a series to only fall in love with the rest. I want to give it more of a chance before I completely close the door on this series. Read Wolf’s Mate for yourself and maybe you will love it more than I did.

WOLF'S MATE had a great cast of characters that I know will be great getting to know more about in future books.

I honestly don't have a lot to say about the two main characters that you can't guess from the blurb. It was clear from the opening chapters that Abby and Declan had a strong attraction to each other. Abby has had a really rough life and it was nice watching her find her place with people that cared about her. Declan was a little brutish, but he was like putty when it came to Abby.

As for the storyline. I didn't feel like enough happened outside of the couples bubble and what happened inside the bubble was really slow going. Don't get me wrong, I liked that Abby and Declan didn't immediately start pawing each other, making out and professing their love, but not much happened either. Half of the book felt more like filler material.

The characters were by far my favorite part of WOLF'S MATE. I loved the way that Declan's Shifter Operations Command team worked together. They all had each others back at every turn and I loved each and every one of them.

4.25 Hearts I knew I was going to enjoy this book from the first couple of pages. Why? Because of the bro-mance the book has with the guys on the team. The humor and sarcasm the guys have is so fun and entertaining. It had me smiling and chuckling from the start. And when the guys were together it didn’t stop.

And then there is the romance of Abby and Declan. Maybe romance is the wrong word. There is no romance with these two. There is full on danger and excitement but the two work so well together. Declan is total alpha. He is overly protective and dangerous but when he falls for Abby it is with everything in him. Especially his wolf.

I enjoyed the fact that the wolf, cougar and other animals have their own personalities in this story.

I can’t wait until the next story comes out. Cole’s story should be a doozie!!

Love Declan. I love how even though his co-workers were like family he went against them for Abby at first. He listened to his inner wolf and protected her. He at first denied that she was his mate thinking it was just an insane attraction but as the wolf reached out to him he found more and more that she was the one for him.

Abby is a cougar that is smart and a survivor. She was working and got into a dangerous situation. One she was determined to expose so that she could get revenge and stop others from going through what she had in the past. Only there were alot of double stabbing and moles hanging around. So when she is in trouble it is Declan that helps her. She is feisty and distrusting of him at first. Over time though she gives into her inner cougar and begins to feel safe around him. He protects her. And even though he doesn’t think he is good for her she believes he is. At first she is scared of his past deeds but she sees beyond them and finds him to be a caring and kind guy albeit one that does mercenary work.

Declan is smart and rough around the edges. He goes on instinct and his past weighs on him. It is through Abby that he learns he is more than the actions he potrays. He hides his caring persona except to Abby. With her he is protective and real. Loving and tender. She calms him. And with the danger she is in he lets his alpha side come out.

He goes against everything to protect her and they are put through a lot. There is revelations, danger, anger, betrayal and hope. Hope that love and family will rule out. Loyalty prevails and we see Abby and Declan protected and come out in one piece and together.

A well written, fast paced story with characters to fall for, danger, intrigue and mystery that carries into the next book in the series as you hope this gang will find love and discover the mole and expose the danger to protect everyone not only themselves.

Wolf's Mate is one of the best Paranormal Romances I've read in a long long while. I loved the characters and their personalities, how they interacted with each other and to the situations they found themselves in. The writing is excellent with vivid descriptions and a plot that was enthralling. It killed me to set this book aside to attend to my real life and leave this world behind for even a few minutes. I wanted to keep reading and living this one until the very end.

The fantastic twists, loads of suspense and humor to keep it fun. Then there is the Grand Canyon sized sexual tension. Just WOW, it's seriously hot. I look forward to this new series more than I have any other in a very long time and I can NOT wait for the next book in this one. Celia Kyle, though new to me just earned herself a spot up there with my favorite PNR authors with this book, the plot and amazing cast of characters. I very highly recommend it.

This started out pretty interesting and had lots of action and sexy shifters, but the it started lagging. It took FOREVER to get the couple together. Yes there was lots of action, drama, twist and turns; but I got to the point where I was like PLEASE get to the point!

I just couldn't love it. It was ok.

Danger shouldn't be this sexy...

Cougar shifter Abby Carter always plays it safe. That's why she's an accountant--no excitement, no danger, and no cocky alpha males. She loves her quiet life, but fate has other plans. When Abby uncovers the shady dealings of an anti-shifter organization, she'll have to trust the too-sexy-for-her-peace-of-mind werewolf Declan Reed... or end up six feet under.

Declan Reed is starting over. After two years with Shifter Operations Command, it's time to put his past behind him. Now Declan is the only thing standing between the gorgeous Abby and an early grave, and if he's going to have any chance of keeping her alive, he'll have to embrace the darkness he's fought to keep at bay. But first he has to convince Abby that there's no safer place in the world than the arms of a big bad werewolf.

Declan Reed is part of Shifter Operations Command. He was once a killer for hire but put his past behind him and was trying to be a better person. SHOC consisted of the most dangerous men who were trying to do good things, so he was in good company. Declan’s SHOC team is on a job trying to get info to see if a company, FosCo, is involved in feeding money into the shifter hate group, Unified Humanity. While observing the building, Declan sees Abby Carter. She’s an accountant that is doing an audit for FosCo, and Declan can’t seem to keep his eyes off of her. When she digs into an account she was told to stay away from and sees that they are indeed filtering money into UH the owner of FosCo is alerted and Abby’s life seems to be in danger. Declan doesn’t wait around but goes to save her. He ends up taking her and hiding her from everyone – including his team and this makes him a rogue.

Abby isn’t sure what’s going on. She knows that what she found at FosCo is horrible and that people are after her to get the info – she just doesn’t know who to trust. She’s pretty sure that Declan is a good guy but she’s not positive. Despite not knowing about him, she’s still attracted to Declan and doesn’t let a little thing like her life being in danger stop her from showing that attraction. Of course she’s not sure either of them will live to do anything about it in the future.

This was a cute paranormal story. I liked both Abby, Declan and his entire SHOC team. I read this in one sitting as it was a fast read.

Abby was a great character. She was strong – she’d had to be her entire life – and wasn’t about to let Declan boss her around. I loved the fact that she didn’t let anyone push her around. Yes, she was scared at times but she still showed her strength throughout her trials.

Declan was alpha male all the way. He wanted what he wanted and no one was going to stand in his way. He was rough and tough and had been a been a killer for hire – not an ideal background – but he was gentle with Abby and wasn’t afraid to show her his softer side.

Overall the book was a good one and I enjoyed the beginning of this new series.

This story started with a little espionage and a curvy cougar woman being watched by a handsome badass wolf. And it only gets better from there. Declan now uses his skills to protect he shifter race and Abby is still trying to make a place for herself. These two collide when Abby discovers something during an audit as her job as an accountant. They're being chased with a few twists and turns, some friends and foes and are the "mates" after all? I really enjoy this story. I look forward to learning more about the rest of Declan's team.

REVIEW:
WOLF’S MATE was so much fun and I’m so excited about this new series! This is the first book in a new paranormal series by Celia Kyle and features a group of special ops shifters that go up against a group of humans that hunt shifters. If you’re familiar with Celia Kyle’s books they’re usually quick, funny and erotic. WOLF’S MATE is a full length novel and has more of a storyline. It’s not as erotic as her quick reads, but the romance is still steamy. The story kicks off with some action and danger and doesn’t let up until the end. I loved this group of shifters! Celia Kyle created a great group of guys and really made me want a book for each of them. Declan is a wolf shifter in this special ops group and comes to the rescue of Abby, a cougar shifter. I loved Declan and I was cheering for Abby. There were some funny antics, emotional moments, a lot of danger and plenty of hot romance. I couldn’t put this one down and can’t wait for the next book. The Tiger shifter is next! Yum! I recommend this book for readers looking for a steamy paranormal romance series with some action and suspense.

I really liked this shifter book and it had all the elements I enjoy in paranormal romance. If honest I actually enjoyed it much more than I expected because I normally associate this author with fun, quirky, sexy, fluff which quite often often is relatively short. So I'm delighted by this pairing of Declan and Abby and yes it's the first in a series so lots to set up and a team of shifters to meet . Yet it didn't suffer for that and rather it told a credible story that made sure these shifters feel very 'other '.
So essentially the basic premise is that Abby is a cougar working as an accountant and keeping her head down when one night she discovers a link implicating that there's strong links to an organisation set on taking down any furry friends out there! It just so happens that a crack team of shifters are investigating the company which puts wolf Declan on the spot when Abby's findings come back to bite her hard! Getting Abby away safely should mean she's out of danger but soon Declan questions whether she's really secure at his base!
I loved that this pair listen and communicate with their inner beasts as it made for interesting and indeed comical moments. Plus these are the sort of shifters I like , as in they have enhanced senses meaning they hear and smell for example much better than humans . Really interesting plot as surprises keep on coming plus of course the romance that is central to the story .
So the romance and what did I think? Right from the start Declan and his wolf are incredibly drawn to the woman who shakes her stuff and shimmies when she thinks no one is looking. Abby isn't quite ready to follow her cougars instincts but it's so obvious that she really would like a taste of the sexy, domineering wolf. Declan is such fun ( when he's not killing people! ) and constantly challenges Abby but no he never forces the issue no matter how hard it is, ahem!
I really liked this and I'm beyond excited to find out what a certain tiger will get up to next but for now I'm happy that this solitary cougar has found her place with the very seductive Declan. If you want to read something a little different to the standard pack type stories out there then I'd happily recommend this book
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts are honest and I believe fair

I tried to battle through the book but I didn't like the heroine. It's a shame because I love the author. The story line was interesting but I just couldn't get past the heroine and her character.

I do think this book has an audience, it just wasn't for me.

I had a blast reading this, it was so freaking fun! A lighter paranormal romance with really likable characters. It was fast paced, kept me on my toes, and left me excited for the next book.

Declan and Abby were so fantastic. They've got the light hearted animosity and chemistry down. I loved the playfulness between Declan and Abby, their fun conversations and flirting. Since they're shifters, there's an added element of their animals liking each other as well while their humans selves fight it that attracion. I smiled so many times because I loved that fight. I loved the shifter aspect too. I really enjoyed the descriptions of their animals and how everything worked, I thought it was a great world that was created. I loved the push and pull between Abby and Declan while they came together.

It started out great so I was pulled in right away. It's fast paced with really awesome details, good character development and back stories. Not overly in depth, just the prefect amount to keep things moving along. I loved the alternating POVs a lot, it kept things moving along at a good pace and had me excited for what would happen next.

This was definitely a lighter read, it had a bouncy, fun vibe happening but it was also pretty action packed. I loved the drama that was mixed in as well. There's a nice mystery happening as well and I'm thinking that's going to carry out through the series. While there is an HEA for the couple, there are still on going questions facing the team and what's happening in their world. I loved the other shifters on Declan’s team as well. Everyone seemed to have a really distinct personality. I enjoyed their bickering and challenging each other.

In short, this was just super entertaining to read and left me with a smile on my face. This was my first time reading this author and I will definitely be reading her again. This was the prefect PNR summer read.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Abby was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
It was supposed to be a simple audit.
How was she to know that this company supported that anti-shifter group "UH" ?
Have no fear!
Declan + his team have been monitoring the company as well.
When the sh%t hits the fan, he is there to rescue Abby.
Now they are on the run trying to avoid being killed.
Once you find you mate, you do anything to keep her safe.
This series started w/ a bang.
I can't wait to read the next book.
I feel so bad for Birch " Papa Bear."! Is his book coming soon ?

Wolf's Mate, by Celia Kyle is an intriguing paranormal shifter action-suspense romance, and the first book in the Shifter Rogues series.

Team One of the Shifter Operations Command is complied of a close group of alpha shifters, including Declan Reed, a werewolf shifter. During a recognizance mission, Declan observes Abby Carter--cougar shifter--and interferes to save her when she's suddenly attacked.

While literately running for their lives, Declan and Abby deal with their instant romantic attraction, as well as some unfortunate surprises. The interactions and conversations between Declan and the team members are often quite entertaining. And I'm looking forward to reading future books in this series!

Wolf's Mate is geared towards those who enjoy reading paranormal action-suspense romances, particularly involving military-style shifters.
