I was so thrilled when I saw that Celia Kyle was picked up by one of my favorite publishers. I've really enjoyed the books of hers that I've read. She writes the type of books that I enjoy, I always finding myself laughing at something her characters have done.

So I was so happy to see that she had a new series for me to enjoy. And what a series it is. I can tell by just the first book that I'm going to be loving it!

Wolf's Mate is a great start to her new Shifter Rouges series. You are going to just love them! Like with her other series you will find wonderful writing, great characters and a ton of humor.

One of the best parts of the story is the interaction between Declan and his team. They cracked me up more then once. Funny as hell!

You are going to love Declan. He comes off all tough and a loner but you soon learn there is more to him then that. Abby will crack you up too. She is such a great heroine, you'll find her to be loving and caring. You feel bad for the position she's in but happy that she's not in it alone.

Kyle does a wonderful job of setting up the plot that is going to run through the series. She gave you enough to understand what's going on but not enough that you won't care what comes next because you know already. You'll want, no need more!

This is a sexy new paranormal romance in the Shifter Rogues series and I loved this!

Declan is a wolf shifter and he's the weapons specialist for the SHOC team. They are the ones sent in to do the jobs considered too dangerous for anyone else to do. His latest mission involves keeping an eye on the company Abby works for and he's immediately drawn to the cougar in ways he doesn't want to understand.

I loved the chemistry between these two and how they can't keep their hands off of each other. Speaking of great chemistry, I fell in love with the hilarious banter going on between his entire SHOC team and hope to see much more of each of these mischievous characters in the future! I highly recommend reading this great paranormal story to anyone.

A classic tale of species racism and fated mates, Wolf's Mate by Celia Kyle kicks off her new Shifters Rogues series with a bang. Abby, a cougar shifter with a tragic past, finds herself embroiled in a battle she wasn't prepared for. She is just an accountant after all. Declan is all about death and destruction, so he was fully prepared for the battle. He was NOT expecting to meet his mate.

The plot had potential. I liked the racist angle about the United Humanity group attempting to kill all shifters. It kind of reminded me of the old school PNR books and TV shows with hunters who killed the vampires, shifters, and demons. Abby's job as an accountant was a plus as well because I love heroines who have math or science related jobs. It shows women as smart and capable. The danger is certainly ever present once Abby realizes she caught her boss in a big accounting lie since he was funneling money to United Humanity. Now they want her and SHOC, the group Declan works for, also want her. No one seems to care if they get her alive though. Well, no one but Declan.

I like the idea of SHOC. These are not good guys out to save the world. The men and women of SHOC were 'encouraged' to use their talents for hunting and killing to help the shifter community, less they be put in shifter prison for their crimes. None of them are bleeding hearts who are standing up for shifters because they want to help. It was refreshing to have a group of bad boys doing good for bad reasons. Of course, Declan's reasons change when his wolf falls for Abby.

"A little creepy, a hint psychotic, but beneath it all was an instinctual need to simply have. All of her."

One thing I love about shifter stories is the fated mates trope. I just have always loved the idea. Declan and Abby both resist the idea for a time, which I appreciate because it shows that they are at least partially human!

You have lots of supporting characters and quite frankly, you are never quite sure who you can trust. I really enjoyed that aspect because it adds even more tension to the plot. You have the obvious danger from the United Humanity group, but then there is the hidden possible dangers from other characters. Pike and Cole both gave me a untrustworthy vibe that had me questioning their motives!

I think what bothered me the most was the constant bickering with their shifter half. Both Abby and Declan spend a LOT of time arguing and fighting with their animal and it just made the book drag for me. I understand the need to show that the human and the animal are 2 separate entities in a body, but the constant 'talk' between human and beast was disruptive to the flow of the plot in my opinion. However, this is me being very nit-picky. I am not sure it would have bothered me so much if I wasn't feeling a bit cranky. And honestly, that was really the only thing I didn't love about the story.

I think the Shifters Rogue series has potential. While there was a thing or two I didn't like with Wolf's Mate, I do think I will continue with the series because I am interested in how Kyle will play out all the characters. Cole's story is next and I am very interested in who will catch this tiger!

Declan Reed is a wolf shifter with Shifter Operations Command (SHOC) team one. At the moment they are trying to trace who is funding Unified Humanity who are enemies to all shifters.
Abby Carter is a cougar shifter. Working long hours for an accounting firm isn't easy for her cat. She spots a lot of money disappear from an account that she was told to stay away from . As she follows the money trail she realizes just who she is working for. This will start her on a very dangerous journey.
This is a wonderful shifter, romantic suspense, with a paramilitary feel. There are exciting chases, fur and bullets flying and tormented characters. Our heros are all misfits that somehow work as a tight and loyal team. It is the start of a new series that I'm already addicted to. I can't wait to read the next one.
I loved every page.

Wolf's Mate (Shifter Rogues #1) by Celia Kyle is a fun new start to a sexy new series. Forget your bikers these bad boys make them look tame. These sexy shifters have been given a second chance by doing what they do best for Shifter Operations Command; protecting shifters from all dangers foreign and domestic.
I loved that though the sexual attraction for Abby was there from the very beginning that they didn’t consummate until later in the book. I loved that the guys picked on each other but wouldn’t allow anyone else do the same.
These sexy bad boy shifters deserve love as much as anyone if not more. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced, exciting romp.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love my PNR romance hot and sexy with a side order of addicting! That is absolutely what we received in Celia Kyle's new Shifter Rogues series. I loved Declan and Abby's chemistry and passion and fell in love with the rest of the team. They were all dangerous mercenaries but there is a common thread of brotherhood that unites them. I loved their passion, funny banter and dedication and can't wait for each of their stories!

When shy cougar shifter Abby Carter inadvertantly uncovers the shady dealings of an anti-shifter organization (Unified Humanity), she'll have to trust the too-sexy-for-her-peace-of-mind werewolf Declan Reed and his group of mercenary Shifter brothers for protection.

I loved this novel. I loved getting lost in the excitement and chase between the good and bad guys and the back and forth pull between Declan and Abby. There was something about the dark and dangerous wolf that Abby could not get enough of despite his warnings for her to stay away. Their chemistry was HOT and they sizzled off the pages!!

All in all, I can't wait to learn about the other dangerous and deadly members of this team and see how the Unified Humanity storyline will play out! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I would like to thank Forever and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review.

So much danger and suspense in this story there was hardly any time for romance. This introductory book in a new series gives us a glimpse into a secret group of varying shapeshifters to protect against group of anti-shapeshifters. At times, I felt the story lagged, often tedious, ... especially at the end when you knew Abby and Declan would finally, finally get together. Overall good, easy read.

SCHMEXY! Celia Kyle once again brings us the romance of a hunky and very alpha male with a strongly independent woman. Wolf's Mate has suspense, intrigue and twists that you won't expect. And don't forget about the hawt shifters that she is soooo good at writing.

Abby wants safety and normalcy in her life. Declan wants no one to get close to him, especially if it is Abby. And the bad guys want Abby in order to keep their secret. No one is going to get what they want, but they definitely get what they need. The other characters were yummy too – can't wait for them to get their own books.

If you like your romance spicy, with some suspense and outmaneuvering the bad guys, then you will love this book.

An excellent and thrilling read! Celia Kyle has created a wonderful world full of shifters that has many different aspects of it. Having read some of her other novels I was thrilled to discover that this one takes place in the same world. Declan is a wonderful alpha male that has a screwed up opinion of himself due to the pack he grew up in but he is a magnificent character. He was both aggressive to an extreme and super protective of Abby.

Abby is a very relatable cougar shifter that has a sad past herself that she has overcome to become a boring, normal accountant. She thinks her life is happy. But she gets herself into trouble during what should be a routine audit; uncovering accounts funding a shifter hate group. She's immediately thrown into incredible danger and doesn't know what to do, except run. In steps Declan, who's current mission has him staking out the company Abby's auditing. His inexplicable attraction to Abby has been ignorable until she's in danger.

Together they must overcome a crazy situation and possible help uncover a spy in their ranks all the while battling an attraction and impossible situation. A quick read, but extremely enjoyable story!

MAN, I love half-crazed shifters who skate the thin line of morality. I love it even more when they fall for someone and can use all that pent up aggression to keep their special someone safe.

Declan and Abby certainly fit that bill. She has a very nasty group after her after stumbling over something she shouldn't have and he's 100% committed to keeping everyone as far from her as possible. Including the rest of his team. Heck, including HIMSELF. Which doesn't end up working out all that well, but what can a wolf do, right?

I seriously enjoyed the borderline chaotic team dynamics. I imagine it's going to be a glorious mess as the other members start finding their own lady friend. Cole, I'm looking at you, buddy.

Fast-paced, more than a little dangerous, and steamy enough to keep two shifters warm on a cold night. Or something. You know what? Ignore that last part. Just imagine it being sexy and move along. Bottom line: I got the type of crazy shifter dynamics I love and I'm looking forward to more of them!

The Good, The Bad, and Everything In Between
-Good start to new shifter series. Ms. Kyle is one of those authors that I know can bring it when it comes to shifter romances, a special weakness of mine. Some are hits and others, well not so much, but this series definitely has the makings of hit. It has all the elements that I enjoy, good smutty romance mixed with humor and action, so let’s discuss.

- The sitch is right up my alley. Abby Carter is an accountant who likes to dance in the office when no one’s watching (my kind of gal). She also stumbles upon a big ole conspiracy to eradicate “furries” by a human-run hate group and before she knows it, she’s on the run for her life with a big ole protective wolf shifter right by her side. Declan, who’s been assigned to watch said hate group and has narrowed his focus on the company that Abby is auditing. Plus, he can’t keep his eyes off her booty shaking ways and is more than willing to put his life on the line to keep her safe and along the way, you guessed it, romance happens.

-Good action. A good portion of the story is Abby and Declain on the run, and I have to say I was drawn in with the first few chapters. The characters were set up nicely through their inner monologues and dialogue with others and their actions made sense considering the danger they were in. It managed to keep me turning that page to find out what would happen next and I liked that tension.

-Humor worked for me. I know it’s subjective but Ms. Kyle’s humor usually makes me giggle at least a little, so I like the banter between the characters and that humor really helped to establish those relationships that gave some balance to the action.

-Transition at the end was slightly off. I think the transition from the wrap up of this romance and the next happened sooner than I would have liked and made the pacing at the very end of the book slow down more than it needed to. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s a small quibble I can live with because I am very curious about the next hero and his heroine, so all’s well that ends (fairly) well.

The Bottom Line 4 stars
I really enjoyed myself. Ms. Kyle’s books have been hit or miss for me, but I’m happy to say that this series is a definite hit. I’m looking forward to the next book because I am ready to catch that tiger by his tail.

I'm a big fan of Celia Kyle. She has a fantastic ability to make you laugh out loud while you're reading. Many of her stories are quick reads. "Wolf's Mate" is a little different from her previous books. This one is a little more serious in nature and a little longer than some of her others.

In Wolf's Mate the two lead characters are a little more complicated. The hero, Declan, knows that he isn't a good person and can't possibly be good enough for innocent Abby.

Abby witnessed her parents being killed by a group that kills shifters when she was a child. When she grew up she decides to live a quiet life as an accountant. Two couldn't be more different.

I also think she spent a little more time world building on her subject, which leaves the reader a chance to get into the characters and the story behind the characters relationship.

This book took your typical shifter mate story and threw in buckets of danger, deception, and the introduction of a shadowy organization. Essentially, it threw you in the deep end of the pool, with shooting and running and general chaos.

Abby is a mild mannered accountant who has been tasked with auditing at her recent company. While looking through their transactions, she discovers that they are linked to a fanatical anti-shifter organization. She does the right thing and tries to squirrel away as much information on her private drive as possible… until the guys with guns show up. Declan has been tasked with watching Abby while she works. As part of a sort-of suicide squad type group, he has a history of bad deeds and training that he puts to use for the “good guys” now. He’s also obsessed with Abby. When the bad guys start showing up, Declan does the only thing a guy who is her mate (but in denial) could do – he charges over there and gets her to safety (eventually).

These two fight to stay in denial for way too long! Sure, there’s lots of danger and time spent on the run, but it took a little bit too long to get to the sexy times. This story also sticks a toe into darker waters in some of the kidnapping scenes that kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. We do, thankfully, end up with a HEA after much drama. This was clearly the set up for future books and all the ones we’ve me definitely deserve to meet their match.

Never thought danger could be so fresh, hot and humorous in a world where alpha shifters get all the tough jobs and one woman becomes job one for the heart! Celia Kyle’s WOLF’S MATE is a great take on paranormal romance that sizzles with passion, blazes with action and bursts off the pages with fabulous dialogue.

Abby has always played it low key and safe after the horrors she experienced as a young shifter, so when she finds herself in the middle of a game of dirty money and danger, she found a whole new side of herself, thanks to the tough werewolf who is determined to be her mate. DeClan has been given a do-over in life, a chance to put his "skills" to good use and right now, he will use anything and anyone at his disposal to keep Abby safe.

I love my alphas and my heroines with some backbone and this time out, I got it all from Celia Kyle! It’s always a plus to have supporting characters that feel like they really know and care about those around them, too, and humor? Loved it! Loved the banter, the high energy and even the “bad” times when I was sitting on the edge of my seat! When a heroine who needs someone in her corner finds it in an Super-hot, Black Ops, bad boy shifter, really was isn’t to love?
Fast paced action, nail-biting moments, attitude, it’s all in here!

Once again we get a great start to a new series by one of my favourite authors. Ms Kyle has managed to give us a new group to fall in love with and I cannot wait to learn all about them in their individual stories.
I was worried when I saw how many chapters there was but as I was getting closer to the end I kept thinking NO, I want more.
This book has so much going on and I do not plan to give too much away except to say we have goodies who are hot bad boys, baddies who need killing and lots of excitement and twists. Who is really bad and who is really good?
Abby is one hell of an understated heroine; she is a cougar shifter who has had a traumatised childhood due to a shifter hating organisation. Her strength shines through as this story progresses.
Declan seems bad to the bone, a natural killer, but when you hear why and how he started on his path you can do nothing but sympathise with him.
I loved this mad motley bunch of shifters who are closer than real family no matter how much they fight between themselves and cannot wait to read all their stories. Cole seems to be up next and that is wonderful as he really wanted what Declan and Abby have found.
This is my honest review of this book.

"You. Are. Mine. You run, I'll chase you. You hide, I'll find you. You even think about another man, I'll kill him." "Everything that's happened since I met you has been for you."

Wow! Wow! Wow! Talk about a book that hits the ground running and doesn't let let up!!! Wolf's Mate is fast paced, action packed with some seriously steamy moments and a few twists along the way.

Told from multiple points of view, Wolf's Mate follows the story of Declan and Abby. From the moment we meet Declan and Abby, you can just feel the chemistry and tension rolling off them. Their connection is instant and their romance, one of insta-love, but I gotta tell you, this is one of those books where the insta love just works. Abby was a total game changer for Declan. The moment he laid eyes on her, he knew he had to claim her as his. But, things won't be easy for these two. No, fate is going to make them fight hard; not just for their lives, but for their love as well. With danger around every corner and not knowing who to trust, there certainly is never a dull moment for these two shifters.

Wolf's Mate is my first book by this author and I know it won't be my last. I easily devoured this book and couldn't wait to see how it all was going to play out. I enjoyed every moment. From the danger, to the romance. To the sexier than hell alpha shifter and the shifters' inner dialogue. Wolf's Mate was a ton of fun and I can not wait to see where this series is going to go next!
