When a fire rips through her theatre, Sophia Birch needs help to get it back up and running. Luckily, the police officer that discovered her rummaging through drawers and unprepared to leave until she's found what she's looking for the night of the fire has friends that are willing to lend a hand. However, once things are back to normal, as the saying goes 'the show must go on' and what a better way for that to happen than to put together a performance using the irreplaceable script she was determined to save from the fire. Will Finn be able to feed Sophia's passion in and out of the theatre, or will they lose their chance at happy ever after because they're too different?

Ms. Nicholas has exceptional talent for writing the opposites attract trope, which is proven by the stories she's penned for this series so far, and this third book of her opposites attract series is another perfect paradigm. Really, the way this story started drew me in immediately, as Sophie knows what she wants and there's no way she's not going to do everything in her power to save the script she wants to be the theatre's next play. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that had me smiling, as Finn will do anything to save someone, even if it's from their own stupidity. Will Sophia get what she wants or will she find herself under arrest?

As for the dialogue, it was well-written, enthralling and I loved the interactions between Sophia and Finn, as the heroine is feisty and isn't afraid to fight her own battles, which is proven by the way she stands up to her father. No way will she allow him to continue to get away with the way he cons people. Will Sophia finally be able to put a stop to her father's schemes? How far is she willing to go to see her father can no longer use her as an excuse for what he does? Furthermore, there were some really good light-hearted moments between Sophia and Finn as well as between the main and secondary characters that had me reading this story quickly, determined to discover how long it would take the hero and heroine to give into their intense chemistry.

Both the main characters were well-developed and their back stories definitely made this hero and heroine fascinating and compelling. Sophia's back story certainly makes it understandable why she feels the way she does about relationships. Yet, I liked that she gave Finn a chance, as he's good for her. Sophia is also resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she is to save her theatre, as it's palpable she sees it as her family legacy. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her determination to stand up to her father; a man that's put her through so much in her life. While Finn, he's confident, has a tight bond with his family, and I liked how protective he is of Sophia, especially when it comes to doing everything he can to help her with his father. Can Finn find a way to help Sophia's father, so the man can be a better father to his daughter; or is the heroine's father a lost cause that will only ever care more about himself than his daughter?

Overall, Ms. Nicholas has delivered another remarkable read for this series where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was full of exquisite heat and passion that did justice to this couple's chemistry; and the ending left me completely satisfied because of what the heroine did to make her father understand that she will no longer allow him to freeload of her her hard work. I also liked Sophia's determination to make things right with Finn. No way will she continue to hold herself back from the love and happiness she so deserves. I would recommend Totally His by Erin Nicholas, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Melanie Shawn, Mari Carr, Samantha Chase and Erin McCarthy.

Erin Nicholas writes enjoyable small town romances, including the Sapphire Falls series that first attracted me to her writing. Now she’s moved on to the bigger city of Boston, but by focusing on a local theater and its community players she successfully retains that close knit feel while being able to expand her cast of characters. Totally His takes a look at some complicated family dynamics while providing the reader with a fun and sexy story.

When Sophie Birch’s small independent theater catches fire, her desperation to save a one of a kind, completed manuscript leads her to some not too smart decisions – like sneaking back in to rescue it. Caught in the act by police officer Finn Kelly, it’s not her best moment. Nor does it bode well when Finn turns out to be the son of one of her favorite people, Angie, a widow who has become a key member of Sophie’s theater community.

Sophie’s rocky relationship with her con man father, Frank, keeps her from getting close to people so he can’t use those relationships against her. But since he’s half owner of the theater, she can’t stop him from coming around, or taking half the insurance money. This leaves her short on funds to rebuild, and when she shares this with Angie, the news gets around to Finn who brings some of his friends and family by to help.

Sophie can’t afford to turn down Finn’s offer, and after seeing all that man-candy in action in their construction gear, her friends convince her to include them in the next play she puts on. All that hot stuff on stage will draw an enthusiastic crowd, give the guys a chance to show their community spirit, and ensure some great ticket sales to help pay for the repairs. When Finn offers to play the lead romantic role opposite Sophie, it ensures that they’ll get to know each other better. But Sophie has learned the hard way that getting close to someone is a sure way to get hurt. Can the happy ever after ending they get on stage become a real life one too?

I confess to being a bit worried about whether I’d like the heroine based on her actions early on, but the author manages to give enough explanation and justification for them that my doubts didn’t linger. From that point on, Sophie comes across as a passionate and articulate woman, with a realistic if sometimes cynical perspective on life. Her relationship with her father, Frank, is complex. She’s had several stepmothers, all women Frank had conned into marrying him, using Sophie as a pawn. When those relationships ended, she lost a mom all over again. Yet, he’s still her father, and he still kept every promise he made to her as a child and loves her in his own misbegotten way. Her main reason for avoiding Angie’s family is to keep Frank away from them, something she can no longer do when Frank shows up again to cause his usual trouble. Only this time, she’s got backup.

Finn is a pretty straightforward, ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of guy. He’s single, he’s a good cop, and his dating life at the moment is pretty non-existent. He comes from a big extended family where everyone knows everyone else’s business and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Once Finn meets Sophie, he feels very strongly that he should be the guy to jump in and ‘save’ her. But she doesn’t want saving, which takes him a while to understand. Plus, despite Sophie’s warnings, he can’t resist giving Frank a helping hand. At times this is really frustrating for Sophie (and me as a reader). I really liked that the author doesn’t sugar-coat Frank’s behavior, or rehabilitate him just because he’s exposed to the ‘nice’ Kelly family. I also really appreciated that Finn and Sophie have to compromise to make their relationship work and yet neither loses their sense of self in the process.

Despite their different views of family and long term relationships, the attraction between them doesn’t let up. Playing the part of the romantic couple in the play gives them the excuse to practice their kissing scenes, and things soon get pretty steamy. The author writes great sex scenes, with heat and humor. As the story progresses there are some plot points that I thought might get glossed over but Ms. Nicholas wraps everything up in a neat way with a thoroughly satisfactory ending. Totally His delivers an engaging and sexy romance.

Have you ever gotten so into a book to where you really want to skip to the end just to know the happy ending and then go back to enjoy the full story? Ok, so I didn't. I resisted the temptation. I absolutely adored Finn in this book. First, his name alone is beautiful. He is a fixer and caretaker. He is a big time family man. He is a protector. And he is a lover. Love him! Sophie was a female character that you could really like and care for. She yearned to belong to.someone or somewhere, but was always afraid to connect with anyone. I loved her spunk and her feistiness. She protected those important to her, even if from afar. Their story was very sweet and had that immediate connection. And all the supporting characters makes me want more of these people.

Sophie Birch has learned from experience that she can only rely on herself. She had a heck of an upbringing by her father, someone who wreaks havoc in his wake, and she holds herself back from fully investing in life and love. But there’s just something about sexy, steady Finn Kelly. Something she doesn’t quite understand, but she sure wants to get to know.

And Finn. He’s the solid, reliable one in his crazy family. They’re large, loud and into everyone’s business. But he’s ridiculously attracted to Sophie on sight. Sure, the pink lingerie helps, but he sees the beautiful, smart, sexy woman underneath and wants to make her his.

But first they need to work through some issues—Sophie’s disaster of a father and his shenanigans for one and Sophie’s hesitancy to grow roots and a relationship for the other. Can Finn convince Sophie to take a chance on him and the love and life he offers and convince her she’s not alone anymore?

Totally His had me from the start. I could easily visualize the crazy meet-cute between Finn and Sophie and their relationship just got better from there. I loved watching their friendship and relationship blossom, and couldn’t help but root for the two of them to realize that they were perfect for each other. And don’t even get me started on how awesome their friends and Finn’s family were. I come from a large family where everyone knows everything. And their meddling was on point. And while I really didn’t like Sophie’s father, that was the point—he was completely unlikeable and a perfect villain for this sweet, sexy story. I’m really hoping we will get Colin’s story too!

I enjoy Erin Nicholas. If she writes it, I will read it, because I know when I open one of her books, I am going to enjoy it. I am going to like the characters, and I am going to be able to believe in the relationship that she creates between them.

Finn and Sophie meet when he catches her rushing into a burning building and has to carry her out because she is resisting arrest and refusing to leave quietly. And, not only do you see in this scene that Sophie is feisty, you also get a good look at who Finn is...and that he really, at the end of the day, just wants everything to work out for everyone so they can all just go on about the things they need to do.

This carries through the book and both is the reason Sophie falls in love with him, and the reason she believes they are not able to be together.

By the end, there is a resolution that works and it is a real world resolution. And, this is the other thing I love about Erin Nicholas. Her characters live in the real world, the fixes to the situation are real world. They feel like a conversation, and a resolution, that could have happened in my own life last week. I love this about her books.

I recommend this title.

WOW!!! I loved, loved, loved reading Totally His by Erin Nicholas, the third book in her Opposites Attract series. Ms. Nicholas knows how to create a wonderful story with two people who are totally opposite one another find a connection and a way to bridge those differences. I’m not sure how she does it but Ms. Nicholas keeps writing books that are better than the last, though I’m not sure how that is possible. It’s why she has become a go-to, auto-read author.
Sophie Birch’s theater was on fire, fire fighters and police surrounded the building making it difficult for her to sneak back in to save a script. Policeman Finn Kelly saw someone entering the blazing building. Finn saved people, fixed them, & helped them heal, so of course he had to get that person out. Thus begins the amazing love story between Sophie and Finn. Sophie grew up moving with her dad from con job to con job, scamming some woman into falling for them and marrying Frank, her dad. She never knew what is what like to grow up within a large family; at least, other than her theater family. Frank was not father material, guilting Sophie that she owed him for providing a home for her, and not caring to use his fifty percent ownership in the theater to benefit anyone but himself. Finn was a Kelly, a loud and large family that loved everyone. Was it possible for these two to realize that their love could outlast their fears? Could someone out-con con guy Frank?
Nicholas is an excellent storyteller, keeping me interested in this story so that I had trouble putting it down. I highly recommend this outstanding book to other readers and look forward to her next book.

Totally His by Erin Nicholas was such a lovely read.
I enjoyed the storyline, it was sweet, fun, emotional, well written and I found it hard to put down.

Sophie and Finn were wonderful, entertaining characters that I easily connected with. I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold. They made me laugh, they made me swoon and they touched my heart with their love.
They had a strong connection from the first meeting and their chemistry was off the charts!
These two might have been opposites in a lot of ways but together they balanced each other and totally belonged together.

Totally His is a sweet, enjoyable read that will entertain you from start to end and I highly recommend it.

Well written book with great storyline and plot. I like the main characters and their banter. It has chemistry and passion as well as twists that makes it a surprising read. The main characters Sophie and Finn are well described and develops nicely through the story. They have both a lot to deal with but can they get through it and have their HEA. I like the story and the supporting characters. They give the story an edge. It is a very emotional story. There is drama and humor.
I can only recommend this book if you like to read romance books.

There is a reason that Erin Nicholas has quickly become one of my go-to authors. I’m crazy in love with her writing. She has a way of making me feel just enough of each emotion during her stories that I end satisfied but not overwhelmed.

Sophie and Finn had a great chemistry from their very first meeting which made for a pretty amazing ride into their HEA.

Finn is the epitome of the perfect guy whose perfection might actually be his most fatal flaw. He’s a fixer, which seems like a great thing...until there is something he just can’t fix. This is what frustrated me with this story the most. I was not a fan of how he let his need to fix everything affect his relationship with Sophie. That’s not to say that I loved how Sophie dealt with her dad, but I also understand that she was put in a very bad situation and was dealing with it the best way she could.

Overall this story was a perfect, sexy & sweet addition to the Opposites Attract series and a great example why I love this series and the author.

Finn Kelly is the officer who comes to the rescue of Sophie Birch when her beloved playhouse catches on fire. She's feisty and stubborn, but meets her match in the Irishman. The dynamic between the main characters is refreshing and wildly entertaining. I love the Opposites Attract series so far, and this is the best one in the series so far!

Another book by Erin Nicholas that you won't be able to put down. The characters will just pull you into their story. I loved the dialogue between Finn and Sophie and they make a perfect couple. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a fun sweet read.

Sophie isn't going to let a little fire at her theater stop her. Finn goes to save the women who snuck back in. Neither is expecting chemistry and sparks to fly between two different people but they do. Slowly Sophie and Finn fall in love. There are some other surprises but you have to read the book to find out.

I loved everything about this book by Erin Nicholas! I have been anticipating Sophie and Finn’s journey to falling in love for awhile and I am glad the words are out in the world. It is full of sass, love, romance, friends. Exactly what readers have come to expect from this author. This book grabs you from the very beginning with Sophie and Finn’s first interaction. If you enjoy a great story that lets you escape from the real world for awhile, this book is definitely one of them!

Good gravy.

Every time I finish an Erin Nicholas story, I am wowed all over again, and Totally His is no exception. This latest (the third in the Opposites Attract series) brings us more of what Ms Nicholas writes best--a remarkable couple with incendiary chemistry, some very real frailties, more challenges to their happiness, the ability to use their words, and ultimately an incredibly satisfying resolution. Throw in warm and wonderful supporting characters, and I'm always going to want to move to whatever fictional universe Ms Nicholas has created. As always, Ms Nicholas's storytelling is well paced, and her characters are three-dimensional and nuanced. I cheer them on, I loathe some of them (okay, really, just one of them...), feel sorry for them, want to hang out with them... they all feel real!

Totally His features Sophie Birch and Finn Kelly. Sophie is an actress and co-owns a local theater with her father, a conniving conman who's left behind a string of ex-wives once he'd finished bilking them of a home for Sophie and whatever other material goodies they could provide him. Finn Kelly is a police officer, part of a huge, welcoming family, who is called on scene to the theater the night of a suspicious fire.

Sophie and Finn definitely recognize they have chemistry, and also recognize reasons they might not want to act on that. I'm sure you can imagine how well they're able to avoid each other ;) Ms Nicholas lets their story unfold beautifully, and along the way, reminds us of the deep joys and bittersweet sorrows of family and committing our hearts. And yes, love is solid and real and worth it. Totally!

Loved this book of Opposites Attract. Sophie, an actress is strong, feisty and use to doing her own thing. Finn has come to rescue her when the theater catches fire, what a first meeting. Finn is smitten immediately. Great family involvement from both sides, loved it. Sophie's dad is a mess, Frank. Frank, has always only thought of himself and will use people to gets what is best for him. Sophie continues to give, even if it puts her in harms way. Then you have Finn's mom, loved this lady, family is everything. The trivia game was so much fun too.

I could on and on about this book of finding love when you least expect it, but fun sexy laugh out loud book that I highly recommend. This is the third book in the series but is a stand alone read.

This book is the third in the Opposites Attract series by Erin Nicholas and is a captivating romantic story of two people who even though they seem to be completely wrong for each other find a connection.

Sophie loves the old playhouse she has inherited from her grandmother and she also cares deeply for the crazy nerdy group of friends who have helped her keep it operational. A fire breaks out and threatens to destroy the theater and Sophie’s first concern is salvaging the play written by one of her friends and fellow theater supporter. She runs into the burning building and is followed by Finn who is a police officer on site at the fire. Finn cannot believe what he is seeing… a beautiful woman scantily clad in her underwear is trying to get back into the building!

Thus begins the story…. Finn comes from a large loud Irish family who watch out for and who care for each other. Sophie on the other hand is an only child of a charming con-man and who has never really had a place to call her own. Her father, Frank, is part owner of the playhouse and shows up only when he needs money or a place to stay. As Sophie works to rebuild the theater, Finn, his mother and his band of police and fireman “brothers” come to her rescue... refurbishing the theater and in the process, a relationship blooms in spite of the obstacles of Sophie's past and Finn's over-protective personality.

The book is well-written and the characters are believable. By the end of the book, I had grown to love Finn and Sophie and to definitely dislike Frank! I have read the previous two books in the series and I enjoyed seeing the characters from those books included in cameo parts in this book. As the old adage says....Opposites truly do attract.

“It’s just a little weird that I’m even crazier about you because your family bar has a stuffed teddy bear glued to the wall.”

An actress and a cop meet in this third book in Erin Nicholas’ Opposites Attract series and, like the books that came before it, it was an enjoyable, charming read that had a small-town vibe despite its big city setting.

I loved the premise of this book—and I found myself hooked and invested almost immediately. In fact, I was loathe to put this one down in the early stages, loving as I was the getting to know you parts, where Sophie and Finn recognize, explore and fight their attraction.

And it was an attraction that was palpable. I do wish it had been expanded on a little towards the later stages of the book, but with memorable scenes—especially at the family pub—it was so easy to root for this couple. Because it really wasn’t JUST this couple you were rooting for. Though the secondary characters didn’t have much of an individual presence (with the exception of Colin), together the Kelly Clan we’re capable of stealing each and every scene they were in.

And speaking of stealing . . . Sophie’s dad, Frank was just the kind of antagonist that a book like Totally His needed—a counter-balance to the sweet romance and the warmth of family. Do I wish things had maybe gone differently at times? Sure. But in the end, the result was another likable, readable, and engaging book that gave me all the things I love about small-town romance, but with a big city BANG and a few good laughs.

“I think there’s such a thing as too nice of a guy.”
“Well, I have to be nice. My girlfriend burns shit down when she gets mad.”
“Sounds like a problem.”

I'm surprised to find out Totally His is the third book in The Opposites Attract series by Erin Nicholas because, how have I managed to miss the other books (so far)?

Sophie Birch has spent her entire life trying to get people to love her, so as an adult, she doesn't always keep up the façade. When a fire begins at the theatre she inherited from her namesake grandmother, she's desperate to get back into the burning building to retrieve something that means a lot to a person she's become close to. Only an arrogant police officer hauls her out...rescues her leaving a lasting impression on her.

When Finn Kelly sees a scantily clad woman in pink underwear running back into the burning theatre rather than to escape it, he rushes over to locate and evacuate her from danger. Only carrying the reluctant, half-naked woman stirs up far more emotions than merely doing his job to protect her from harm way.

Finn is an archetypal gruff cop but underneath that testosterone-fuelled exterior is a caring and compassionate man. He's met his match when he encounters Sophie Birch, who he recognises as a feisty woman and more than a handful-pun intended. Their attraction is instant, but it's external influences that affect their chances of even having a relationship. Yet, once everything is out in the open, their path to a happy ever after is inevitable.

I read this as a standalone and it works perfectly. The protagonists from the previous books are secondary characters in Totally His and their presence adds depth to the narrative rather leaving the reader feeling they are missing something. The author's writing kept my attention always even when scenes that made me feel uncomfortable. There's nothing wrong with that as her narrative is doing exactly as I expect from a writer...eliciting an emotional reaction from a reader.

Overall, an entertaining novel from a new to me author; one I'll be reading again soon because of her other books in this series.
