This was a fast paced story with interesting characters and a great story.I have not read others in this series but I didn't have problem with this one, but I'm planning to read the next books since I loved the writing and the set up.I liked both hero and heroine and I wish there was more.A Talent for Temptation is a romantic and sweet story.

This is a quick story. Very sweet and cute though. I enjoyed it, I just thought it was way too short. Meriel Vyse is a widow who spies for her brother in law. She doesn't think she can quit and move on with her life because she feels she owes him too much. Even though she truly does love Quinn Raines. Quinn thinks that she can't love him because he isn't heroic like her husband was. He wants to marry her and have a life with her and doesn't know or understand why they can't do that. So he comes up with a plan to prove he is heroic to her. And then the laughter begins. It was really good, like I said I just wish it had been longer as I was enjoying their story.

So this was just a short novella. Meriel has been flirting and seeing Quinn for months. Not daring to tell her brother in law, and not daring to wish for more. Quinn's mum is a count's daughter. Meriel is nothing. Better not go there. Then she gets kidnapped ..well almost Quinn to the rescue, of course he planned the whole thing cos he really wants her. Aye, one of those he wants, she is afraid ones. I may not approve of the way he wanted to show that he is the one for her, but it all worked out. Conclusion: A nice little romance, that gives us a a look at a 3rd person. The hero in the next book ;)

A Talent for Temptation is a short novella from the “Sinful Suitor” series; a pretty quick read of sweet, passionate and obstinate love of a pair of headstrong characters. This novella offers what transpired with the Spymaster sister-in-law and one of his suspects from previous book.

Having glimpsed Quinn Raines on The Pleasures of Passion, his portrayal in this novella is way better than I expected. Muriel Vyse though, not really - she sounds rather too temperate to me. Not at all what I picture her from previous book.

As it’s a short novella, the overall story appear too rush. I get that there’s previous off-page liaison going between the MCs. It’s just to me there’s not enough FEELS that get me emotionally connected to the characters. It’s fun and everything, but it’s lack that “wow” feeling.

Not that it’d stop me from anticipating the next full novel of the series, especially as it would star the Spymaster himself. I guess I’ll just put this as nice addition to series.

A nice interlude into our Sinful Sinners world. Even though this was a very short read, Jeffries did not leave me wanting more.

This gets me even more excited for the next book in the series!

A Talent For Temptation

Sinful Suitors Series - Book 4.5

By Sabrina Jeffries

Pocket - October 2017

Historical Romance

Meriel Vyse had a beau. One surrounded in secrecy. Or rather she hadn't told her brother-in-law Gregory, Baron Fulkham about Quinn Raines. Neither could she explain to Quinn why she had to cancel on him and acted so unusual. Gregory had rescued her during a low point in her life, and she had married his brother. She and her husband had spied for him, and she had continued after her husband had died. She knew he would always be a friend, family even, to her, but she was tired of going on operations for him. She was having romantic feelings for Quinn Raines, and she regretted having to lie about why she couldn't see him, which had happened one more time. As she left for another mission for Gregory, she managed to foil a kidnapping attempt, of herself.

Quinn should have known it was a bad idea when he originally thought it. It shouldn't have taken him until after his servant had attempted the "fake" kidnapping, and he had arrived for an even more "fake" rescue. Especially considering Meriel had managed to rescue herself, while stabbing him in the process. Nothing more than he deserved. Meriel had cancelled on him once again, and he had been desperate, definitely not smart. But a man in love sometimes didn't do the smart thing.

A Talent for Temptation was an entertaining quick romance that had been hinted at previously in the Sinful Suitors series. We had seen Quinn's despair, and worry that perhaps Meriel was more interested in her brother-in-law than in a familial way. I had wondered how Quinn would relate as a hero considering his less than heroic feat of staging the abduction, but Quinn's regret was obvious. Equally enjoyable was watching Meriel and Gregory navigate to a new relationship, regardless if he is technically a "former" bother-in-law.

A Talent For Temptation is a delightful novella that captures one hesitant couple’s plunge into commitment. I have loved all of the stories, either full length or novella, in the Sinful Suitors series. As a long time reader of Sabrina Jeffries’ work I have to say she shines in this series.

Meriel and Quinn are friends, each may want more but Meriel has secrets that she cannot allow to touch Quinn or his family. So, she holds back on anything more serious, even if her heart is already engaged. Quinn wants marriage and is confounded by Meriel’s reluctance to take their relationship any further… perhaps there is another man in the picture. When Quinn has one of those “only a man would understand why he did it” moments and stages an abduction so he can sweep in and be her hero… well, all does not go exactly as planned.

Secrets have destroyed more relationships than saved, and when Meriel and Quinn actually start talking to each other, putting their truth out there they finally have a chance at real happiness. I enjoyed A Talent For Temptation very much. It doesn’t take long to read but does give a powerful reading punch.

I would recommend this story and the entire series to any Historical Romance reader who loves a good story, lively characters and a very satisfying ending.

Widow Meriel Vyse is working for her brother-in-law Baron Fulkham, the spymaster when she’s almost abducted. She’s saved by her secret beau Quinn Raines. Meriel is a young widow with secrets who’s afraid to open her heart. Meriel and Quinn have been dancing around one another for quite some time and Quinn decided to take things into his own hands and stages her abduction and become her dashing hero to force her to see him in a new light. His plans fail miserable, but can he still convince her he is the right man for her. A short novella with an abduction gone awry between a young widow and her secret beau. I can’t wait for the next story.

A pleasant but predictable short story

I liked this short story, but was a little too cliche and predictable for me to love it. I really like the "Sinful Suitors" series as a whole, and I am glad that Sabrina Jeffries wrote this story about Quinn Raines and his sweetheart Meriel. Quinn had a lot of page time in the previous book, "The Pleasures of Passion", and I wanted to know how his unrequited love situation worked out. The short story length worked well for this cute story of secrets, misunderstandings, true love, and a bumbling attempted abduction. Quinn and Meriel are both likable people. Quinn sure does some stupid things in this story, but he was a good-hearted person who deserved a happily ever after with Meriel. I could relate to Meriel with her responsibilities and frustrations, along with her practical side. This is a pleasant little story that is a good addition to the Sinful Suitors series.

Ok book. Took a lot for me to get into this one. Just couldn't connect with the characters.

I'm not sure what the difference is between a short story and a novella, but this is the shortest book that I have ever read of this author. I'm not even sure who is the "sinful suitor". Quinn Raines, director of Raines Bank, is secretly courting widow Meriel Vyse. To convince her to marry him, he stages a fake abduction, to play the hero, so she will realize he can protect her. However, she ends up protecting herself and stabbing him with the knife she keeps in her reticule. Can he convince her that the debt she owes her brother-in-law, has already be paid? Her brother-in-law is a spy master. Because the book is so short, it does not have the character development found in the author's other books. Still the witty repartee, romance and interesting plot found in all of Jeffries' books is there. A must read for Sabrina Jeffries fans.

'A Talent for Temptation' by Sabrina Jeffries is Book 4.5 in The "Sinful Suitors" series. This is the story of Meriel Vyse and Quinn Raines. I have read the other books in this series (and Loved Them!) but feel this is easily a standalone book. Also be warned this is a Novella with around 82 pages long.
Meriel is a widow after her husband who was also a friend to her was killed. Quinn is smitten with Meriel but she seems to just try to avoid him when ever he tries to meet with her. Quinn makes plans to finally get her attention but things don't go as they should. Meriel has her secrets and does try to avoid Quinn thinking she isn't good enough for him to marry.
This was sweet easy read!

This novella is cute and i liked the characters a lot. I havent read the other books in this series so I am now interested in going back and catching up on this series to see if these characters are mentioned in the previous books. It is fast paced and gets right to the point, which Jeffries is great at doing. I recived a free copy of this novella from Netgalley in exchange for a review.

For readers who enjoy romance novellas, I would highly recommend this one. Entertaining and romantic, it was a sweet snapshot of a pivotal moment in a relationship.

Meriel and Quinn have been meeting secretly for a few months. However, she is repeatedly canceling their rendezvous in order to do as her brother-in-law requests. Quinn has finally had enough and he instigates an outrageous plan to prove to her that he is more than a boring, staid banker. In doing so, he learns that Meriel is more than what she seems as well.

This is a very quick read that I really enjoyed. It has all the quirky dialogue and interesting characters this author is known for in a small amount of space as well as a super steamy scene that had me searching for a fan.

It doesn’t get any better than Sabrina Jeffries when it comes to romance and this one is not to be missed!

Sexy little novella that packs a punch. A perfect quick and easy read for when you're in between longer novels.

NOOOOOO! When I picked this e-book off the e-shelf, I was so excited to read a new Sabrina Jeffries. What a disappointment to realize that it is only a novella, and that I won’t get to spend more time with Meriel and Quinn.

A very enjoyable read! Short and sweet. I loved Quinn and Meriel. Secrets and misunderstandings occur when you are thinking with your heart instead of your head. Meriel is reluctant to give up Quinn but doesn't want to lie to him. Quinn knows Meriel has feelings for him but doesn't understand why they can't be together. A botched abduction and a knife wound will bring them to the truth and they can have their HAE. Sabrina told a complete and lovely story in just four chapters. Loved it.

I feel a bit like I have whiplash because the story was so short but I enjoyed it regardless. I liked both main characters even if I didn't get to know them well. There's a pretty quick resolution to the problems but with only around 100 pages (according to Goodreads) it's not surprising.

Looking forward to seeing the stubborn and secretive Baron Fulkham meet his match in the next title!!

Widow Meriel Vyse is a woman with secrets. She feels indebted to her spymaster brother-in-law, Gregory Vyse, and therefore continues to carry out missions for him. She keeps this activity a secret from Quinn Raines, the man with whom she is falling in love. She is keeping Quinn a secret from Gregory. She just doesn’t know how he will react if she tells him she wants to quit spying and that she has a beau. An attempt to kidnap Meriel and a heart-to-heart talk with Gregory help bring about a solution to the situation.

A Talent for Temptation is a quick read with charming characters, a little suspense, a little steam, Sabrina Jeffries’s signature wit and humor, and a happy ending. It is a charming addition to the Sinful Suitors series and a good segue to the next story.
