Breaching the Contract is the story of new attorney, Kat, and a partner of the law firm, Tristan.
Tristan is a sexy, stoic, single dad. Kat is an intelligent, sharp woman. The two ooze chemistry from their first meet, and it grows from there.
I really enjoyed Breaching the Contract. The story was engaging, and I couldn't put it down. It was very evenly paced until the final chapters, when it felt very rushed and it felt more like the book just stopped than had an actual ending. The storyline was fabulous, the characters were well developed.
Up until the final chapters, this book was a 5 star read. The ending felt too rushed and the conflict felt more like drama than actual conflict. The conflict would have made for great dialogue and insight into both main characters. It left me a bit unsatisfied, as I wanted to see the characters work through it, rather than be told of the outcome.

Let me start by saying I tried really hard to enjoy this book with the whiny heroine and a** of a hero. Usually, I enjoy domineering, but he was just too much for my taste. Maybe next time, but this was a hard fail.
I absolutely love everything Chantal Fernando writes, mostly because of her characters and the RANGE. Her MC books is what had me hooked at first but I also enjoy when she branches out to different genres/subgenres. And in Breaching the Contract, she still achieves to create these characters that you resonate with and root for, and with more witty banter and the heat turned up. I can't wait to read more like this from Chantal.
Hardly any room for anything other than praise and enjoyment...
Fernando has written what I consider to be there most sucking love story ever. It has every major key point, just enough narrative to keep you invested and the right amount of description to keep you floating in the blissful romance that is Tristan and Kat. I think that's how they're spelled. Forgive me, I read the arc long ago and just recently listen to the audiobook.
If you are in the mood for a quick, well-rounded romance with a flare of legal bindings (oops, sorry, not BDSM) then I suggest checking out this bad body for size.
I love this author and this book was a highly enjoyable read for me ! These characters had amazing chemistry and the plot kept me on my toes!! Loved it!
Chantal Fernando is one of my favorite authors, her wind dragons series is one of my favorites, so I was excited to see this book and couldn't wait to dig in. I really loved the story and highly recommend!
Breaching the Contract is a sweet story about two people who start out not liking one another but end up falling head over heels in love. Honestly it’s one of my favorite romance troupes. But this story is a little different because Tristan is a single dad which is something that is becoming quite popular in the romance book world. But I like it because it’s different and honestly brings something new to a couple’s story I think.
Kat is a bad ass heroine! She’s smart, independent and honestly I adore her. Anyone who is a twenty something or someone who isn’t used to child could relate to her. I really enjoyed Breaching The Contract however I wish it was a longer story because I really loved Tristan and Katerina.
Jaxon Bentley is one of the top criminal lawyers in the country and he had hired Katerina /Kat is an associate at his firm. Getting an associate position at Bentley and Chenning - one of the best law firms around in a highly coveted job. They had never hired and associate right out of law school before Jaxon said he hoped Kat was ready as the job would test all her limits and everything she had studied over the last few years. Then Jaxon handed her a file and said it was the Curtis case and he told Kat he wanted her to learn everything about it, top to bottom because the case would be her baby, and she was going to help him win it. Then Kat thought how how she had just passed the passed the bar and she had a case handed to her. But she was both excited and scared. This was everything Kat had been preparing for. This was not something Kat was going to fail at. Jaxon warned Kat that they did things a little different there. Kat won’t have a secretary so she will be responsible for drafting her own briefs and correspondence.Yvonne was the office secretary can help you with that are urgent. They also had an intern Callin who can help with any legal research she may need done. He added this may seem like a lot of work but now she was working his cases with him and at the moment Jaxon only had a few clients since they were high profile, Then when she was in the office she asked Jaxon if there was anything else he wanted her to do besides study the case and he said yes research he needed her to do and by some he meant a lot. Kat’s past only fueled Kat’s hunger to succeed. This was where Kat was meant to be and she gets right to work. When Kat was walking back from grabbing a quick sandwich she sees a man’s wallet drop on the floor and Kat picks it up and he is on the phone and she waits till he is done.with his call and taps him . But he ignores her the first time but she taps him a second time with more force and she then she says “ excuse me Sir. and he says yes but not in a friendly way and then Kat says you lost your wallet . He checked his pocket as if he can’t believe his wallet fell out of his pocket and then says thank you and Kat turns to leave and he says “wait - thank you”. Then he explains today was not his day and then he holds out his hand says his name is Tristan . Kat is doing well with Jaxon’s guidance but then he goes on emergence leave as there is a family emergency. Tristan is a widower and has two kids so also a single dad. Kat is left to fend for herself without Jaxon but then Tristan lets her know he us Jaxon’s partner and she is under him until Jaxon returns. Kat is attracted to Tristan and he to her. But he doesn’t want to do anything about the attraction. Tristan doesn’t work with Kat like Jaxon did, He treated her more like an intern than an associate. Having her do coffee runs and even pick his kids up at school and babysit them. Tristan is trying to avoid Kat.
I had mixed feelings on this book .If it were still summer I would say this was a drama and angst free short read.- about 120 pages. This was a fast paced read. I loved that Kat was sweet to Tristan’s kids. But I do think it was above and beyond Kat’s job description to have to pick up Tristan’s children and babysit them but that is just my opinion and he is a partner. But she did remain professional when given a interns errands. Jaxon actually used her as an associate. It annoyed me that there was drama at the end instead of throughout the book. This was a pretty good read but not a great read so as you can see I had mixed feelings.

Breaching The Contract is the story of Kat, a driven, determined law school graduate who wants to be the most kick-ass criminal lawyer ever. She starts working at an up and coming law firm headed by two lawyers – Jaxon and Tristan which is famous for it’s repertoire in criminal law. Jaxon mentors her and she forms a very good working relationship with him. But, for personal reasons, Jaxon takes time off of work and she’s forced to work with Tristan during the time being. Tristan is the opposite of Jaxon in his ways and the two butt heads a lot. He micromanages Kat and doesn’t give her space to breathe. He’s rude and cold. He makes her do stuff beneath her pay grade. At first, Kat is annoyed with him at every turn, but as she spends more time with him and his kids, who he’s got her baby-sitting, things change and they start falling for each other. But, of course, things are far from dandy because he’s her boss.
What I like most about this book is Logan. He’s Tristan’s son and he’s the cutest kid ever. I adore him so much. All his interaction with both Kat & Tristan is so endearing. I just wanted to squish him with so many hugs! 😍
Kat is a very good character. She’s smart and driven and she doesn’t take shit from anyone. She’s super friendly and easy going. She’s had a tough life so far, but she makes the best of it and she doesn’t complain about her shitty hand. She doesn’t give much stock to love and is content with her friendships and her job. She’s so nice with kids even though she’s never been around one. It was really nice to see how she grew to like Tristan’s kids. So cute.
Then, there’s Tristan. Most of the book, I was so freaking annoyed at him. I mean, I understood why he had to ask Kat to babysit – he had client meetings and his nanny was sick. His best friend was caught up in his own problems and his family was half-way across the country. So, yes, I understand why he leaned on Kat. But, what I don’t like is how he seemed so ungrateful for all she was doing for him. He didn’t request her, he ordered. And he never thanked her the first time. Then, when she had to stay back so late that she actually fell asleep on his couch was when he had the decency to thank her and apologize for the issues. However, he was an amazing father and I loved that about him. He wasn’t able to spend a lot of time with his kids because of his demanding job, but he made the most of the time he did get. It was really nice to see him that way. And, once he started dating Kat, he was attentive and he made sure to look after her too. I really like that.
Overall, the story was good enough, but it wasn’t WOW like I was expecting it to be after reading the blurb. What I like was that it wasn’t unnecessarily dragged and the book was over in a short while. I think I read it in about 45 minutes. So, I love how the author didn’t create unrequired drama and it was just a short and sweet read. All in all, a nice, light read. 🙂
Breaching the Contract by Chantal Fernando is a slow burn of a story. The frustrations are realistic and the love story builds slowly. Great characters and good plot development. Highly recommended!!
This is the first book in this series by this author. This is a short sweet story which is fun and enjoyable. This is an office romance story, this book can be read in one sitting. The story is fast paced and will suck you in from the start. Fantastic characters with amazing chemistry. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
I really tried to get into this story, giving the authors writing style another chance. I was really unable to stay in the story. The pace was really slow at times and I kept getting distracted.
Great book drew me in from start to finish. Will recommend to my friends.
I really have enjoyed Chantal Fernando and her MC series in the past and was super excited to jump on this new series. I absolutely love office/forbidden romances and loved this story. Add to it the fact that Tristan is a surly single father and I was sold!!
While this novel was almost novella length, I found Kat and Tristan and this book to have a solid story and a great connection. It was sexy and fast-paced an an all around win!
I would ike to thank Netgalley and The publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! Ratula
2.5 star rating.
I found it hard to get myself to keep reading. At times I found it slow and hard to read.
I really enjoyed Kat and Tristan's story. It was sweet, a little bit sexy, and just a really good, short read!
Here is a review by wendy: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2122867023
This book was a quick paced and a quick read. I was able to read it in just a few hours. This is the first book I have read by this author. I am now on the second book in this series and am looking forward to reading the other two! The first book is all about Kat and Tristan. The other main and supporting characters are introduced as well but this book quickly become about their relationship and development. As much as I enjoyed the story line and the two big twists I didn't see coming (I won't share as they are spoilers), I wasn't a fan of how quickly their relationship turned sexual. For me, there wasn't really a chance for the reader to feel the sexual tension build before they got together. There were definite sweet moments that brought a tenderness to the story. All in all, a sweet, spicy, and quick read that I enjoyed very much. Like I said, I am on the second book, but I am taking my time with it (no easy task!) as I don't have the other two books yet!
Chantal Fernando is a force to be reckoned with. Her books are all sexy and but still have the capability to make you feel like you are part of the story.
