This was my first book from Chantal Fernando. I'm a sucker for single dads and office romances so when I saw this blurb I definitely wanted to read this book. This was a quick, light read for me.

The setting of this book is very familiar to me-the legal aspect in particular. However, there's no legal jargon that would make this book difficult to follow. I loved that these two were attorneys and that Tristan absolutely did treat Kat how most associate attorneys are treated. Having her watch his kids might have been a bit over the top-since he barely knew her-but it wasn't completely implausible.

There's a spark between these two that they both try and deny once they realize they'll be working together. Their initial meeting made me smile for sure and I did enjoy watching them interact with one another overall. I enjoyed their times together. There wasn't a ton of angst or drama, which for me is usually a good thing, but I think one of the dramatic moments kind of got swept under the rug.

I will say I wanted a little bit more from these characters. I don't feel I ever really got inside Tristan's head enough to fully understand him and his motives. The writing was fine, it had me laughing in spots and shaking my head in others. This is the start of a series for this author so perhaps some of my unanswered questions will be answered in the next book. Overall, I did enjoy this light, fast read and would recommend it.

I loved this book. It took off for me right from the very first page and never slowed down! I absolutely loved Tristan and Kay's interactions with each other. Their quick little banter they had with each other just build to their ever growing attraction they had and were trying to hide from one another.

I loved how strong Kat was in this book. She knew what she wanted and worked hard to have it. She had goals... she wanted to prove to herself that anything was possible if you work hard enough for it.

Tristian was a hard man to like in the beginning. He was just so rude and impersonal to Kat. He was the kind of man you have to prove yourself to him in order for him to let his guard down. He needs to see that you're willing to go the whole nine yards. And Kat did that. She hated jumping through Tristan's hurdles. But, she gained major respect from him by doing them.

I loved how this book build up to them getting together. It wasn't just wham... I love you. No, they went back and forth with their little jabs.... They talked.

I loved this book. I wish it was a little longer. Especially with the little twist that was thrown in at the end of the book. I felt it could've played a bigger part in this book.
But, overall.... it was a good start to this series! I can't wait to read the next book!

Breaching the Contract by Chantal Fernando is a book that appealed to me because I like books about lawyers. Since it is the first in a series, I’m assuming we will have more stories from the lawyers involved. Breaching the Contract is a quick and easy read . . . not too much angst and features an ambitious brand new lawyer, Katerina Dawson, who has to “make her bones” by running errands and babysitting for Tristan Channing who isn’t the partner she signed on to work for. Being a glorified errand girl definitely isn’t going to meet her career goals. This leads not only to a change in plans for Kat, but she falls in love, as we would expect, with the moody, but sexy, Mr. Channing and his adorable kids.

If I had to assign one word to Breaching the Contract, it would be “abrupt.” Everything just happened too fast and there was really not much build up to any of the story elements. It is a very sweet story and even though it was a bit formulaic, I think it will appeal to most readers who like the New Adult genre. Next in the series is Seducing the Defendant . . . definitely a promising sounding title!

As a reader I'm always excited to start a new series, so when I'm given an ARC for an author that I'm familiar with its even better. Unfortunately Breaching the Contract didn't work for me at all. I found it very boring and I didn't feel any connection between Tristan and Kat. So with nothing happening in the entire book I was annoyed with the conflict that was thrown in at the end. I found it unnecessary and I really dislike when a memory of a dead lover is tarnished.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a really fast read and it was interesting in a way, but I didn’t connect with the characters or feel invested in what was going to happen.

At first I really didn’t like Tristan, and things happened so fast in the book and without a whole lot of back story or emotion behind things, that I was in a way just reading it for the sake of reading it.

The kids were probably my favourite part of the storyline to be honest.

If you’re after a fast read and in need of something that won’t make you too emotional, then this is the read for you.

I wouldn’t say I disliked it, but I didn’t love it either.

Short and sweet and low on angst, Breaching the Contract is a great start to the new Conflict of Interest series. I've never read Chantal Fernando before, but I love office romances (not to mention single dads!), so I feel like this was a fantastic place to start.

Katerina is on top of the world, having graduated from law school and winning a coveted internship with a top law firm. Under attorney Jaxon Bentley's direction, she's working cases instead of making coffee and doing the filing. When Jaxon has to take a leave of absence, Kat is forced to pick up the slack, which includes dealing with the grumpy partner, Tristan Channing.

Tristan is a hard-nosed attorney who doesn't connect with many people on a personal level. After bumping into Kat at a coffee shop, he feels an attraction—but that's before he discovers they work together. While it isn't forbidden, relationships at the office are highly discouraged. A hate-ish-to-love- relationship ensues with a few hiccups along the way.

I found Kat to be a refreshing heroine. She's strong, independent, hardworking, and caring, but she's also determined to succeed on her terms. She gives as good as she gets when it comes to Tristan's attitude, which provides some great banter.

Tristan turns out to be just as hardworking, loyal, and caring, and his relationship with his kids is commendable. Seeing them fall in love with Kat right along with their dad gave me all the feels. Tristan hasn't had the easiest life in the past several years, so it was nice to see him happy and enjoying life with Kat.

As I said, this is a great start to the series. At 130 pages, Breaching the Contract seemed just right—not too short and not too long, all while introducing the characters for the follow-up books. Fans of light, quick, and just the right amount of steamy will enjoy this one for sure!

Okay, so I don’t read a lot of lawyer books. Well, I read Emma Chase’s books but I digress. A couple of things before we really get into the review. One, the book isn’t long. It’s novella in length so some of the plot moves pretty fast. There is NO instalove at all. That’s the one thing that was slow building and I appreciated that. Second, the book is written in the first person. It’s mainly in Kat’s viewpoint. Normally, I don’t mind this but I really wanted to get to know Tristan. Third, this book sets up the other 3 lawyers that we will read about in the coming months.
Again, lawyer books just aren’t on my radar but I really enjoyed reading this one and I can’t wait for Hunter, Callum’s and Jaxson’s books when they release. Jaxson’s is next and my review will be up on the blog. Tristan and Jaxson are partners in a law firm and Kat is hired to be Jaxson’s new associate. I loved their interaction in the beginning and was sad when he left. When she is regulated to work with Tristan, she didn’t sign up to be a nanny or even a coffee runner. She has her law degree and doesn’t seem to think that Tristan thought much of her in that way. That’s where the book really takes off.
I loved how they slowly began to trust each other and how they danced around each other. It really wasn’t until the scene with his son that I really felt the connection between them. Trust me, Tristan son plays a HUGE part in their relationship. I loved how Kat was there for not only his children but for Tristan himself. Tristan is more of a loner and I can see why. No spoilers but it’s sorta sad in a way. Tristan is a good guy and the major conflict is that there is NO major conflict. Kat and Tristan are adults, who act like adults. There is no big misunderstanding, no communication between them.
Overall, Ms. Fernando sets up a great series with Kat and Tristan. I can’t wait to read the others in the series. Plus, look at the covers. OH MY!!! And on a side note, this is my first book from the author. I’m hooked.

This was a wonderful fast paced story from start to finish!

You will fall head over heels in love with Kat, Tristan and Jaxon as well as the other amazing secondary characters that are also in this story!!

The leading men are amazing. You will swoon and be laughing at the appalling things Kat has to do in order to keep her job. And the adorable little distractions and then the shocking event.... kept me glued to the pages until the very end!

And that end.... I loved it so much! I am eagerly awaiting the next story. I can't wait to find out what will happen next!

Cute novella. I wish it had been a bit longer, I really liked both Tristan and Kat and would have loved to see more of their relationship explored.

Kat’s dream job came through when she’s hired as an associate in a prestigious law firm, but when her primary boss takes a leave, Tristan takes his place. He’s sexy for sure, and there’s immediate attraction between them, but he comes off as a rude jerk their first meeting. Also, Tristan has no problem sending Kat for personal errands, including picking up his children from school. Kat doesn’t relish those chores, but knowing she’s the newbie she doesn’t balk. Surprisingly Kat ends up forming a fast bond with Tristan’s kids, and in turn, Tristan. As they work together the attraction they’ve felt from the beginning becomes irresistible. Will their professional lives suffer if they give in?

At only 130 pages, Breaching the Contract was a fast, sexy little story you could easily read through in one sitting. Yes, things happen pretty quickly, but sometimes I like a quick fix of romance without long, drawn out drama, and this is exactly what I got with Breaching the Contract.

I’m looking forward to Jaxon’s story next in Seducing the Defendant.

I have been a huge fan of Chantal Fernando for years, and with Breaching the Contract, she brings you something fun, hot and one of a kind! A chance encounter leads to finding out you work together leads to some sizzling moments between Tristan and Kat. I really loved the flow of this story as well. You get a unique storyline with some hilarious moments as well as some emotional ones. I love the banter between Kat and Tristan as well. She keeps him on his toes!
Overall, this novella really packs a punch and leads you up to the next in the series! It is a fun read and gives you everything you need to keep you on your toes! So excited for this new series!

Breaching the Contract, the first book in Chantal Fernando’s new series Conflict of Interest, introduces readers with her new world of criminal defense attorneys, and while it’s a brief look into the partners of the firm and its associate, it’s clear that this new group of characters are driven to succeed, both professionally and personally, and while one setting seems easier to traverse than the other, it doesn’t prevent them from fighting for what they want be it in the courtroom or in the bedroom.

Katerina Dawson is definitely a go-getter, so being hired as an associate for one of the top law firms is exactly where she wants to be, but what she didn’t agree to was chauffeuring a partner’s kids around and fetching coffee for a man who’s hot and cold demeanor gives her whiplash and infuriates her so much so that she’s plotting his demise as much as she fantasies about him, which makes their working relationship ten times worse.

The whole dynamics and progression of Kat and Tristan’s relationship is central to Breaching the Contract’s story line, and while they start out as more cranky boss and over-worked and under-used employee, once Tristan allows himself to feel breach the line of an office romance, Kat and readers see a much different man and also are able to understand exactly why Tristan treated Kat the way he did and why he’s so much more than his rude and dominating personality indicates.

Kat and Tristan’s story is a quick and steamy read – one that proves just how intense and demanding a lawyer’s job is and just how easy it is to allow a person’s private life to interfere in the professional realm, especially when the reason for the personal strife works for the same firm.

I enjoyed Breaching the Contract, but I would have liked the ending to expand on the circumstances that Tristan finds himself in at the conclusion of the story and while some of the situation is mentioned, I would have loved to see how Kat and Tristan worked together to get the results they wanted and what that did for them as a couple as well as how much stronger it made Tristan as a father and as a lawyer.

The brief introduction readers had to who Jaxon Bentley is allows them to head into Seducing the Defendant with a bit of background knowledge, but it will be interesting to see if he’s actually the man he’s been portrayed as and if the reasons for this act of seduction is for personal or professional reasons.

Kat Dawson is a recent law school graduate who has been chosen by Jaxon Bentley to become his new associate. Kat loves her job, loves all that she's learning. Until Jaxon takes a sudden leave of absence and Tristan Channing, Jaxon's partner, takes over. Now Kat finds herself running personal errands and even picking up Tristan's children when he's running late. This is not what Kat signed up for when she accepted the position. And she certainly never expected to be so damn attracted to Tristan either. She's fighting a personal and professional battle at this point. And it's one she's determined to win.

Tristan is struggling to balance his personal and professional lives. Personally, Tristan has always struggled to manage his children's needs against his work responsibilities. Professionally, Tristan is busier than ever and now with Jaxon out of the office, his work life is in a tailspin. Adding in the responsibility of taking over as Kat's boss, when he'd much rather be taking her to bed, Tristan has reached his limit.

Breaching the Contract is the first book in what is a promising new series by Chantal Fernando. At times, I really struggled to connect with both Kat and Tristan. Their quick move from "boss to lovers" seemed out of sorts, that it could have been built up a bit more, a bit more romance and foreplay. I did like them both individually, understood their struggles, but together, while smokin' hot, there was just something missing in their relationship for me. But there is so much to like about this start of the series, and I am looking forward to Jaxon and Scarlett's story in Seducing the Defendant. 3.5 stars

3.5 stars--BREACHING THE CONTRACT is the first installment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult CONFLICT OF INTEREST erotic, romance series of novellas. This is attorney Tristan Channing, and attorney Katerina Dawson’s story line.

Told from first person point of view (Katerina) BREACHING THE CONTRACT focuses on the building relationship between lawyers Katerina Dawson and Tristan Channing. Kat is a recent grad, and the new associate at one of the top law firms in the city. Hired by Jaxon Bentley, Kat finds herself thrust into the legal world of research and litigation but an emergency pulled Jaxon home leaving Kat under the mentorship of Tristan Channing- a man with a reputation hard as steel for making the newbies quit and cry. What ensues is the building romance between our leading couple, and the potential fall out when someone else’s past transgression could potentially destroy Tristan’s well –ordered world.

BREACHING THE CONTRACT is a quick read: a fast paced story line about two people thrown together in both their personal and professional lives. The story line conflict is limited to Tristan’s attraction to Kat, and the upheaval in his personal life at home. The premise is sexy; the characters are colorful and passionate although I would have liked more details about their individual history and background; the romance is seductive and intense. BREACHING THE CONTRACT is an energetic and hopeful story of romance, second chances, and a happily ever after.

In Breaching the Contract by Chantal Fernando, we meet Kat and Tristan who find themselves in an inappropriate office romance and I was here for every tense second of it! I do love a good secret relationship, and Kat and Tristan are pretty hot.

Kat is a hard-working new associate in Tristan’s law firm. His partner, Jaxon, was acting as her mentor until he had to take a sudden leave of absence and left Tristan to take over some of his cases...and the mentoring of Kat. Their mutual attraction makes the transition awkward, and add that the fact that Jaxon and Tristan have much different styles in mentorship, Kat is initially nervous about working under Tristan. Her fears are confirmed when he has her going on coffee runs and babysitting his two kids as opposed to directly helping with cases like she did with Jaxon. Despite all of this, there is some dynamic chemistry sizzling between these two and as Kat spends more time with Tristan and his family, she sees a vulnerable side to him. Likewise, Tristan sees the sharp wit and intelligence that will make Kat a great lawyer one day.

I love a good meet-cute and this one was great but I won’t give it away. I have to mention it, however, because it is a perfect example of how Chantal Fernando has written a couple with an attraction that can’t be denied. The interaction is also very typical of the characters, and as we get to know them the moments surrounding their introductions make the reader smile even more because we are in on something that nobody else at the office is privy to. Sure, they find each other attractive, but Kat and Tristan’s connection goes deeper than that. They are both loners that have suffered loss; Kat’s single father raised her and was killed in a store robbery just before she went to law school, and Tristan’s wife passed away, leaving him a single father of an adolescent girl and a young boy. It’s easy to see how they could find kinship with one another and that was due to a perfect set up by Fernando.

Kat has a dry wit and is sharp and funny; Tristan has a wry sense of humor he lets slip when he isn’t being so serious. Despite the power dynamics that are in play here, Chantal Fernando did a great job of creating characters who actually balance well with each other. Tristan and Jaxon aren’t ancient old men trolling after ingenue interns, they are younger guys with a successful practice and Kat isn’t the aforementioned ingenue, but a grown woman who is ready to make her way in the world. Some twists and turns bump their road, completely unexpected to be frank, but I rolled with the punches. So did Kat and Tristan.

I’m ready to roll my way to the next book in this series! Jaxon’s sudden disappearance has my antennae up, but in the meantime, Kat and Tristan have quite the love story to tell. I hope you enjoy this read as much as I did!

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Court is in session with Chantel Fernado's newest book, Breaching The Contract. As always with her books the sexual tension is high and when they give in, its explosive. Tristian and Kat will have some obstacles to get through, but together they will be able to lean on each other, that is if they will allow themselves to.

Kat is excited to start her first job out of law school and can't wait to dig her heels in. She has been hired as an associate at Bentley and Channing who are know as the top criminal lawyers in the country. While she discovers that working with Bentley has been great, she has yet to meet Channing but has heard that he is difficult to work with. When she goes on her break she sees a man who drops his wallet, and when she tries to give it back to him, he ignores her. Thinking about just walking away she tries one more time and when he turns around she notices how handsome he is and has no idea she has just met her other boss.

Tristian's day is not going well and when he finds out he almost lost his wallet, he knows he needs to apologize to the woman who found it for him after how rude he was. And when she says she will take a rain check he can't help but notice how attractive she is. But when he goes back to work and finds out she is the new associate that was hired, he immediately gives her the cold shoulder.

After weeks of ignoring each other, they are forced to work with one another when Jaxon has a personal emergency. At first Tristian's behavior to Kat is horrible, he makes her do tasks that she shouldn't be doing and even has her pick up his kids. But Kat doesn't cave, she does what she needs to and still proves to Tristian that she knows what she is doing. And soon Kat has not only made a place for herself at the firm but in his family also.

But when they are faced with some horrible news, will Tristian push her away? Or will they figure it out together?

Katerina Dawson is fresh out of Law school and has managed to land an associate position with a top criminal firm, working for the man who inspired her to become a lawyer.
Tristan Channing is a partner at the firm Katerina works for. He was attracted to her when he first saw her outside the office, but was rather upset to discover this woman was completely off limits.
Kat will try everything in her power to show she’s an asset to the firm, but Tristan will have nothing of it. He’ll ask her to babysit his children and go on coffee runs while behaving like the ogre he’s believed to be before he gives in to her charms.
This story is a quick read office romance with a side of complications. It was my first read by this author and I found it to be a little below my expectations.
I was very invested in the early stages of the story both with the premise and the characters, but as Tristan and Kat start getting closer, the whole story became a little farfetched for my taste and I was just eager to finish it.

One thing I love to see in a story is humor. Jokes and one-liners always serve to enhance a story, in my opinion.
Kat is absolutely hilarious. She always knows what to say to bring humor to a tense situation. And, trust me, there's plenty tension in her office.
Kat lands her dream job right out of law school with the perfect boss. But when her great boss has to take emergency leave, she's stuck learning from the other partner of the firm.
Tristan is obviously attracted to Kat but he knows an office romance is the last thing that should happen.
There's plenty of steam, lots of humor and even a little twist that you won't see coming.
Definitely 5 stars!
