An awesome quick read that really peaked my interest for the series to come. This is a well done story and I really liked all the characters. Very little angst, office romance, single dad with some very cute kids are all the things that made this a great story. New associate Katerina Dawson literally runs into one of the most attractive men she's ever met. There was a spark of attraction that would have been fun to pursue if he hadn't walked into her new boss's office just minutes later. Yes, Tristan Channing is a partner in the firm she's just starting with. Just her luck. Yet that spark just won't go out.
Definitely a book I recommend to everyone.
This was such a breath of fresh air to read and the perfect book to spend a Saturday afternoon reading.
Quick, light-hearted with great characters, "Breaching TheContract" is a book that everyone will love.
Tristan was a moody arsehole, but once you got through his hard exterior you find out he is actually a really loving guy who's trying to juggle the life of top criminal lawyer and single father to 2 kids.
Kat is just starting out her career as a lawyer and is ready to make her mark and climb the ladder.
What she wasn't expecting was Tristan...
If you love drama free, office romances then you will love this book.
I can't wait to read more from this author and from this series.
Chantal Fernando's newest series does not disappoint! And even features some of your favorite Wind Dragons!
3 1/2 stars, Kat has worked hard to get to were she is and now she was just hired at the law firm of her dreams. her boss is amazing and trusts her with cases and things that should take years. Her co-workers are great, and Kat couldn't be happier. While on break one day Kat see's a man who dropped his wallet. Stopping him to give him his wallet should be easy but the handsome man can't seem to just be gracious and say thank you.
While at work a few days later Kat can't believe her eyes when she finally meets the other partner of the law firm and it's none other than the man she met on the street. Now Kat purposely avoids Tristan. Sure he's nicer than when they first met but he's also someone she can't get out of her mind. The more time they spend together the harder it is for Kat to deny her feelings till neither Kat or Tristan want to, though things seem to be going better than they could have ever dreamed a devastating secret is revealed turing everyones world around and maybe changing everything.
I like this one, it's a fast fun read that was written really well. I flew through this one. I have always loved Chantal Fernando's writing style and this one wasn't any different. I got right into the grove with this book from page one. I also really like the story of this book and Tristan was a good guy, he seems like a jerk(and was at the beginning) but he really isn't. Kat is hard working(maybe more than anyone else at the law firm) and she is the definition of a go getter.
I will say I wish Tristan had pursued Kat more, yes he wants her and yes We know he has wanted her but when it comes down to it Kat is the one who works for it and I feel like she was the glue that held their relationship together and I wish that hadn't been the case. I also wish we had gotten less of the hero, Triton's former wife. this is hard for me because I need solid undeniable truth that the heroine is number one and will always be number one when it comes to any other woman, and yes I know it can not be that cut in dry in real life with a case like this but in book world I need it to be. Was it that cut and dry mmm for me I needed more and having said that I am really really picky with that so this may not even be an issue with others.
I also wish going into this I had known this was a short story, I think it would have helped my mindset because all I kept thinking was why is this book moving so fast and I need more Tristan and Kat. Don't get me wrong this is a romance but I wish more time was spent with them together and falling in love. Had I paid attention(and yes I admit this is completely on me) to this book more closely I would have seen this was a short book and it would have made more sense. But Really I wish a few more pages had been added to this book so we could have had a less sped up romance.
I did really like this book like I said I blew through it and really got transported into this world right away. It was a fun fast steamy read. I do wish there was an epilogue though. For two reasons; 1 for the simple fact that I am a little bit(yeah ok a lot) of an epilogue nut. I can never get enough of epilogues I love them and I always will. And 2 in any case I want an epilogue but especially in short books. I think an epilogue give us that solid final happy ending in a book that because it's shorter we don't get enough time with the hero and heroine. But all in all I liked this one.
*Thank you NetGallery and Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books for this ARC.
I really love Chantal Fernando's books! The writing is simple yet a real pleasure to read and so is the story and the characters! I like how Kat has a good head on her shoulder and knows what she wants! But I have to admit Callie became my spirit animal the minute she came into the story!
All in all it was a good romantic comedy, though it was too short!
I can't wait for the rest to come out!
I've not read a book like this in a while. I seem to be reading quite a few dark reads lately and I found this to be a refreshing change for me.
If you enjoy sweet romances then this is the book for you. An office romance with a single dad. Perfect.
I'm really looking forward to reading more in the Conflict of Interest series.
If you're looking for a quick sweet read that is low on the angst, then Breaching the Contract is the book for you. Although I really enjoyed this book there was room for a lot more than there was. I feel like it's more of a novella or prequel to the series. I feel like it laid ground work for the series, and it had a great romance to get things started, even thought that romance was rushed along.
I felt the tension between, Katerina and Tristan. I loved that Tristan was a devoted single father, and I am a sucker and fall for that trope every single time. Is there anything hotter than a man that loves and adores his kids and will do anything for them? The way that Katerina fell in love with his kids as well really made my heart happy. She went above and beyond for them from the first time she met them, even if it wasn't a role she was wanting to fulfill.
I am really hoping that we get more from Katerina and Tristan in the next installment, Seducing the Defendant.
Wow, I seriously didn't expect to devour this book as quickly as I did. I had just come off a semi dark read and this was just absolutely wanted I needed to cleanse by pallet. I've read all of Fernando's Wind Dragon books so I wasn't really sure how Breaching the contract was going to go. I'm so happy to say that I really enjoyed it.
Kat has worked hard to get where she is so when she lands an associate lawyer job at one of the most prestigious law firms there is, she couldn't be more determined to one day make partner. As she starts her job, she's on cloud nine. Her boss is amazing and she loves his teaching style. But then a family emergency leaves Kat with a new boss. A sexy, brooding boss who gives her the most mundane tasks that have absolutely nothing to do with the law. She wants to hate him but she's drawn to him.
Tristan's reputation precedes him. Everyone thinks he's tough as nails, which he is. But not many get to see what a great guy he actually is. In an attempt to keep Kat away from him, he gives her all those tasks and really pisses her off. Of course, she's irresistible and once they start spending more and more time together, he can't deny his attraction to her.
What I liked the most about this story was watching Kat discover what a great guy Tristan really is. I'm pretty sure woman's ovaries are going to explode when they see what an amazing Dad he is. Ovaries exploded, heart melted and mind blow. That's what Tristan will do to you.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Breaching the Contract is the perfect escape to warm your heart and cleanse your soul. Give it a try, you'll be happy that you did.
As with most of the books I have read by this author, it is extremely short. There is no real character development, and very little drama. In fact there is very little to the story. They meet, they fall in love, they live happily ever after. With the length of the book there really isn't room for anything else. Not my cup of tea.
I thoroughly enjoyed this quick lawyer read. It had some sizzling tension, some funny moments but all around an enjoyable read.
I really liked the characters, the whole story had me hooked and I loved how it ended! Short but sweet and sometimes that's all we need in.a good book.
when katerina dawson starts her job as an associate for jaxon bentley in breaching the contract she's hit the jackpot. he's encouraging and gives her more opportunities than most first-year associates ever get. when he is called away for a family emergemcy she gets stuck with tristan channing, who is jaxon's complete opposite on the manager level.
he has her running errands, picking up and babysitting his kids, getting his coffee; and she's furious but she doesn't—can't—say anything. he's her boss. she's a first-year associate. but soon she starts to see the stress he is under. and a part of her can't help wanting to help him.
because as much as she keeps reminding herself of the boss-employee thing, as much as she tries to focus on how he treats her like a secretary instead of a colleague, as much as they both try to keep their distance, the attraction between them sparked from the first moment they laid eyes on each other in a coffee shop without knowing who the other person was.
and soon enough there is no way to deny it. they make sense together. and even when tristan tries to put some distance between them as he deals with some personal problems, there is no turning back. this is a novella so the time scale feels pretty compressed, although in truth i think more time elapses in the story than you feel as a reader. but this is fine.
i thought maybe things were resolved pretty quickly, and i'm still not sure why the paternity issue was thrown into the story since i don't think it added anything to the romance. it wasn't really an obstacle for tristan and kat, and felt like some manufactured drama that came out of left field and given the short format there wasn't enough time to fully deal with the issue.
This was a great mid to low angst novella. Very fast pace featuring an office romance that starts out as enemies to lovers.
Kat is fresh out of law school and was hired by Tristan's partner for their firm. Tristan is a single dad with kids and treats Kat like personal assistant instead of an associate. His admiration for her grows and things change quickly between them.
This is a very safe read with no cheating between MC's or violence in the story. I loved the storyline but did feel it ended abruptly. I'm looking forward to more in the series. We got to see enough of Jaxon and Hunter to be intrigued for their own books.
ARC provided by NetGalley.
Cheesy story that is short and sweet.
I really did t feel that the two main characters had that outstanding attraction that they seemed to feel. They just didn't do it for me. I would have liked to have Tristen's POV. the story just glossed over his troubles. We didn't get to see how he delt with the issues or how his kids did. Tristen was very one dimensional. All juicy things that needed explanation got left out and I think if they were added it would have been a better story.

Breaching The Contract
The Conflict of Interest Series Volume 1
By: Chantal Fernando
“Katerina Dawson knows exactly what she wants from life. And as the new associate at the top law firm in the city, she’s ready to live out her dreams of becoming a criminal lawyer. But going on coffee runs and babysitting kids during the day was definitely not what she had in mind. She knows that anyone else would kill to be in her shoes, but she has to draw the line somewhere. That’s easier said than done, though, when Kat has to confront her handsome boss…
Tristan Channing and Jaxon Bentley run a successful law firm together and the two partners couldn’t be busier right now. When Jaxon suddenly takes a leave of absence, Tristan begrudgingly assumes responsibility of the new associate, the hot new associate, who has curves for days. Needing to keep his distance from her, Tristan sends Kat on needless errands and has her doing work even an intern wouldn’t touch, like picking up his kids. But his plan backfires when he sees his children grow attached to Kat and sees her getting comfortable in his home. It triggers something deep within him, and it feels right to have her there. Will Tristan be able to keep his work and personal lives separate, or will he find that his heart holds the final verdict?” (GoodReads)
Hi my Book loves! So this weekend I had the pleasure of reading some work from one of my most favorite authors. Chantal Fernando. I am a HUGE fan of her Wind Dragons MC Series. I have some of her other books as well. She is just really talented. Anyways, I requested this from NetGalley and got it! I was super excited because I was also able to get the nest one from this series Seducing the Defendant (which I am currently reading!). So stay tuned for that review because so far it’s AMAZING and I am obsessed.
“I have everything to gain, and everything to prove. It’s my actions that define me, not where I came from, or who birthed me. My past only fuels my hunger, my desire to succeed. “
In Breaching The Contract we follow Kat who has just received a job at Bentley & Channing fresh from law school. She is an aspiring lawyer looking to do her best at the best firm possible. She is a study under Jaxon, who unfortunately has a family emergency he has to attend to..which means she then becomes a lawyer under Tristian. Long story short:
She had just previously met Tristian outside in a right place/right time mishap. She had no clue he was the other lawyer for this firm. When she becomes his understudy he practically starts treating her as he would a secretary. She picks his kids up from school (his nanny was sick) and they like her. Tristian is a single dad who is trying to do it all. Trying to prove himself as a successful lawyer and doting father. Kat gets a little too attached to his children who end up loving her. Tristian starts to get feelings for her but knows he shouldn’t since they work for the same firm. He is essentially her boss. Their relationship is wrong. So does Kat decide her lifelong dream of becoming the best lawyer? Or does she take a chance and get in a relationship with her boss?
“Power has a sound. And to me, that sound is the click of heels on the tile as I step into the office each morning.
Click, click, click.”
I loved this novella! Really quick paced but it opened up the series for us with the characters and law firm. It’s almost as if you become a fly on the wall with these characters. I truly loved it. I can’t wait to dive into the next one!
“It’s weird how when you first meet someone you judge them by that one interaction when you really have no idea what’s going on in their lives.”
Happy reading!
Breaching the Contract is my first Chantal Fernando book and I really enjoyed it! Its a short novella that you can read in about an hour; lately, I have been LOVING novellas. They are helping me break out of my reading funk for sure.
Kat is a recent law school grad who has taken a job at a prestigious law firm. Her boss, Jaxon, really treats her like an equal and she is able to really learn a lot. Then he has to leave town for a bit and his partner, Tristan, has to take over the cases. He treats Kat like a lackey-getting him coffee, picking up his kids, etc. Jokes on him because Kat ends up charming his kids and they love her! Kat and Tristan dance around their attraction and the sexual tension is high.
Logan and Laura bring some cuteness to the story, and I loved Kat's tenacity and drive. I understood Tristan's behavior-his wife died a few years ago, he is trying to raise his kids alone, he is Kat's boss-but when he pushed her away I was kind of pissed.
Breaching the Contract is super short so obviously I wished there was more. The end felt a bit rushed to me, but overall, I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to get Jaxon, Callum, and Hunter's stories. And I am kind of curious about Yvonne too!
Breaching the Contract is part boss/employee love, with a dash of single dad romance to create a charming story!

A very quick and fun read. Unfortunately a little too short for me to fully connect to the characters, but overall engaging and a unique plot. Definitely curious enough to read the next book on the series.
2.5 stars
I've only ever read one other book by this author and like that book, I unfortunately didn't really love this one. I liked the sound of the synopsis and working in the legal field it's always fun to read a story with a bit of familiarity. Breaching the Contract felt rushed. Had it been a full length book versus novella it may have felt more developed and been more engaging. I wish Tristan's POV had been incorporated. There were things happening where I felt like it was hard to root for Katerina and Tristan or even just them on their own because I was only getting her POV. There were a number of things that weren't believable either. Katerina is supposed to be an Associate. I've worked in the legal field for almost thirteen years and I've never seen an Associate treated like a personal assistant where they were required to babysit and run errands that were not case related. That's what assistants are for. The other big thing was that later on in the story we find out that Katerina hadn't even taken the bar yet when she was hired. You can't practice law without passing the bar or be an Associate. Some firms will hire someone who is getting ready to take the bar as a Law Clerk with the understanding that once they pass they become an Associate. There was more I had issue with on this one than not and those things made it distracting to get behind Tristan and Katerina's very rushed almost insta relationship. Take away all that stuff and they were fairly likeable characters that in the end I was happy to see together. I'm actually a little more intrigued by the secondary, Jaxson, who wasn't even around that much.
I picked up Breaching the Contract because I’d enjoyed the earlier Wind Dragons books by this author. This was a sweet little legal interlude but not exactly the hard hitting legal story I was expecting. Now if you are looking for a short, easy to read and angst free story Breaching The Contract is perfect.
I was expecting a story of a forbidden type affair between a partner and a new associate with lots of push and pull. I also thought Tristan would be a huge jerk but instead, he ended up being a little bit broken and a whole lot overwhelmed with his situation.
The early on relationship issues were dealt with surprisingly quickly. The true plot twist was unexpected which I love, but the resolution to it was mainly off the page and we are told about it instead of shown which I felt was a huge missed opportunity. I felt cheated by not being along for that ride.
I did like both Tristan and Kat and their chemistry was palpable but I wanted more insight and emotion from them. In the end, I found Breaching The Contract to be an enjoyable and easy to read story but maybe just a bit too easy.
Rating: 3 More, More, More Stars
Ms Fernando's Wind Dragons series is one of my favourite series out there, so the chance to get into her new series early was a no brainer.
Breaching The Contract has a bit of everything. Office romance? Check! Single dad? Check! Adorable kids? Check, check!
Add in an angst free, sweet and sexy relationship and Ms Fernando is on a winner.
I adore Kat. She is smart and sexy and full of sass.
Tristan - he is gruff and downright unlikable at times, however you can't help but fall for him, and hope that he and Kat get their HEA.
This is a sweet, cute, sexy little story and a great start to the Conflict of Interest series. Now off to read part 2

The Conflict of Interest series begins with a novella which introduces interesting characters who work at a law firm. There are winning attorneys, a capable intern, one take-charge secretary, and the new associate. Katerina Dawson is all set to prove she can be a worthy asset to the firm, but getting the chance to show off her skills will be difficult when she must be out of the office and is not working on actual cases. Then lines are crossed and feelings become involved, and a lawyer plus the new employee will have to make some tough choices when it comes to their futures. I quickly became connected to the many appealing characters in the story, as BREACHING THE CONTRACT is delightfully enjoyable because of captivating developments. Chantal Fernando creates emotional dilemmas for her very likable characters to face, where lasting happiness could be won or lost with one wrong decision.
Since Katerina Dawson only recently got her degree, she was shocked to have been picked as an associate for a prestigious criminal law firm. At first, it seems there will be challenges that will showcase whether she can be a competent lawyer one day. Kat likes working with Jaxon Bentley, and is glad the other partner, Tristan Channing, is not the one over her. All goes well until her boss has to take some time off, which will have her working with the lawyer who is very reserved.
Now Kat is doing various tasks that have nothing to do with the office, and she is starting to feel more like a personal assistant. She does not realize Tristan is secretly attracted to her, and there is even a little desire for him felt by her, too. But neither plans on anything ever happening because of work ethics.
BREACHING THE CONTRACT sets the stage for more compelling situations featuring lawyers and those with whom they interact. Cases are researched and hopefully will have good outcomes. Then there are moments where unspoken wishes are finally declared, and heartfelt emotions are conveyed with much candor. Kat is a very outgoing woman, and I really became caught up in how her new career and possible relationship would turn out. She wants others to comprehend her capabilities, and gives it her all regardless of what job she must perform. Tristan is a little aloof when first met, but insight into his life let me understand this complex man more fully. With the book’s shorter length, the relationship of Tristan and Kat moves along rather quickly, but I still got the sense of genuine feelings between them. There are also some steamy sex scenes where only dreamed about fantasies come true. I thought the story was entertaining, and I am definitely eager for the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed the book from the publisher via NetGalley, and all comments are my honest opinion
