Breaching the Contract (ebook)
by Chantal Fernando
Giving Chantal Fernando kudos for another romance that you want to find out the rest of the story. This short Novella, has all the spice and intrigue of the prologue of a bigger story. Breaching the Contract shows that although you have a plan for your life things do not always follow that plan. Kat has the dream and commitment to be a lawyer, she finds a connection to the law firm that helped her as a child. What she does not expect is the liaison that will define her life. This is a great beginning to a dynamic love affair, with love scenes set to spice up the story. Can’t wait for the release of Seducing the Defendant.
A short, sweet romance about a single dad and an up and coming female lawyer in his office. Insta-attraction, family bonding and a little bit of angst thrown in there. It does have the hot romance scenes and a HEA ending. Not a lot of meat to chew on, but a nice escape for a few hours.
Although I finished reading this fairly quickly, I couldn't really connect to Kat, Tristan, or their story. If anything, I was irked that Tristan treated Kat so dismissively, like an admin or intern, and Kat had endless internal monologues defending or justifying Tristan's self-absorption.
Everything moves quickly in this short novel and that contributes to its lack of depth. Tristan's kids take to Kat right away and it made me uncomfortable to find Tristan treating her like an office slave at work and Mary Poppins at his home. Then, a bizarre eleventh hour plot involving Tristan's late wife just added a completely unnecessary level of soap opera. That odd note was hardly answered by the epilogue, which I also found rushed and superficial.
I enjoyed this author's MC romances in the past and I think I'll stick to those in the future.
ARC given by Netgalley.. I read it during my lunch break. It was a super fast read. I have read quite a few books from Chantal and have loved them all. This was a little different.. but I really liked it. :)
Katerina Dawson (Kat) just landed her dream job and she will be working for Jaxon Bentley.. Unfortunately Jaxon is called away on a personal matter.. leaving Kat with his partner the hot, sexy and brooding Tristan Channing..
I really enjoyed this book. I hope to get more..
Really enjoyed this - who doesn't like a hot brooding law man. Definitely want to read more of this series only disappointment was that it went so quickly
Unfortunately this book did nothing for me. Too short and shallow with little to no character development at all and just so plain and forgettable. I've always enjoyed the author's book but this didn't deliver.
This is the eleventh book I've read by this author so obviously I like her books and her style.
This is different, this is a cute sweet little romance, not what I was expecting but I'm all about the romance and the HEA so I didn't have a problem with that but...
My problem is, as far as I can see the blurb is the book, there's just more of it.
This is what I personally think of as the perfect 3* read.
A quick easy read with no real conflict or drama, nice easy characters, cute kids and you know exactly where it's going when it starts.
There's not much else to say since it's all in the blurb but I liked the characters and I enjoyed this book I just expected a little more.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and the Publisher.
How far would you go? Kat has landed her perfect job, she has worked really hard to get this far and nothing can get in her way. She is working for the top criminal lawyers in town and she is eager to learn lucky for her, her new boss Jaxon is one hell of a lawyer and a great mentor. Unfortunately the other partner, Tristan rubs her up the wrong way. They just don't seem to be able to get on and her worst fear is confirmed when she has to work with him as Jaxon is called away on an family emergency.
Tristan has a lot going on in his life and he has no time for silly games but there is something about Kat that he needs to explore but he can't ever cross that line. Kat has become a part of his family as his kids love her and she is a light in his mad world but that line will become to blurred once they cross it. Can Kat give up everything for this man that drives her insane with passion or will it be best to walk away now? Could they ever make it work? Can Tristan allow another woman in their lives after losing their mother so early in their lives? A great hot read.
Quick, sexy, predictable feel good read. Katerina Dawson has landed her dream job as an associate working for Jaxon Bentley at a top law firm. Unfortunately it comes with an added distraction of Tristan Channing, hot, sexy dad of two adorable children and partner in said law firm. When Kat ends up having to run menial errands for Channing she is not best pleased, but as you can guess one thing leads to another and, yep, you've guessed it! The chemistry is off the charts hot with these two, add into the mix two adorable children and I was hooked. There is however a major twist I did not seeing coming. Enjoyable holiday read.
Received from NetGalley for review.
Either this book was short or I was really into it. I liked the storyline but it ended way too quickly.
Katerina, Kat for short, just graduated at the top of her class and landed her dream job. She is working under Jaxon until he is called away for a family emergency. This is where another partner, Tristan, takes the reigns. He decides to test her, which is his usual MO, to see if they cry. Apparently it happened before Kat came along. He sends her off to pick his kids up at school and be a nanny fill in for a few hours. This is where they start to fall for each other.
Towards the end there is a matter that Tristan pushes Kat away, he needed time alone. He should've left her know, that's my opinion. It wrapped up much too quickly for me. I like more of a longer story but others will like the length. Also more of an ending, 1) Did Kat pass the bar? I'm assuming she did if she "won" those cases. Again, that's just me. Overall it was a good story and this is only my opinion. I hope there is more of Kat and Tristan in the next book because I feel there is more for them.
I love reading Chantal Fernando's books. This is a great story, it keeps you reading. Tristan tries very hard not to fall for Katerina but his children fall for her.
I enjoyed this book. It is the first from Chantal Fernando that I have read. It was a fast paced, quick read. The story was told without it feeling like a wham bam thank you mam finish. hee hee 🙂
In this book Kat comes to work for a top lawyer firm. When she starts she works for one of the partners named Jaxon. He treats her as and equal and she is loving her new job. Then Jaxon has to take a leave of absence from work and Tristen becomes her new boss. He is rude, mean and doesn’t allow her to work as a lawyer, but more as an errand girl. She now hates her job, but good lawd her boss is hot. Can she prove herself to Tristen? Will Tristen see her potential to do the work she was hired to do?
The characters in this book are extremely entertaining. I was laughing my butt off at times. Tristen the main character is smoking….. making this book an incredibly hot read. If you are looking for a quickie, then this is the book for you.
**I received a copy of Breaching the Contract from the publisher and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Breaching the Contract is the start of a new series by Chantal Fernando and having read her Wind Dragon's series I decided to give this a try. But was I pleasantly surprised, I really loved the interaction between the Kat and Laura and Logan (Tristan's two children). Who doesn't want to watch Disney movies and eat snack/fast foods instead of practicing their music and eating healthy snacks? When Logan asked for Kat when he was sick just melted my heart. Even though they were boss and associate at his law firm, they became attracted to each other that was at times very hot, he was always putting the kids first.
My only concern was that it was too short and I wished it was longer. Since Jaxson only made a brief appearance my guess is the next book will be his story? All in I really liked the book and give it a solid 4.8 stars.
Kat has landed a job as an associate in a law firm and finds herself working with a partner in the firm, the hot, single dad, Tristan.
Whilst the attraction is instant, Kat takes a more professional approach. The same cannot be said for Tristan who can't keep Kat far away enough to hide his attraction and sends her on errands well below her paygrade!
This was one of those reads that you can't put down. I found myself reading in the supermarket queue and cooking tea! I loved that there was no angst.
I didn't love this book. The premise was so promising but it all felt very rushed, very predictable and the dialogue felt unnatural at times. I think my biggest issue is that there's way too much of the plot details in the blurb... I don't typically read the synopsis beforehand and this is exactly why. There was nothing about this story i didn't already know.
3.5 stars
Very fast read about Tristan Channing and Katerina Dawson They are both lawyers who have a turbulent relationship from the start. Kat is a new lawyer to the firm and Tristan is not very welcoming. At times he treats her like his assistant. He makes her go and get his kids for him when his nana is sick.
But Kat starts to like the kids and even their dad...
A few twists and turns, but this was an ok read for me
I really liked this romance. I liked their chemistry. I just wished it was a longer story! You are a favorite of mine.
"I choose the worst kind of men--the ones who need to be fixed. The broken ones. The narcissists, or those who are emotionally unavailable. The tortured souls."

What an exciting departure from author Chantal Fernando! Breaching the Contract is the exciting first book in the Conflict of Interest Series. Breaching the Contract might be a quick read, but it certainly hits all the marks. This book is fun and entertaining. It is a great office place/hate to love romance. I had fun connecting and getting to know the characters. I got swept up in the banter and tension between Tristan and Kat. Those turned burned up the pages and kept me coming back for more.
Overall, I thought this book was a great read to spend my afternoon getting lost in. It was quick, sexy and the perfect start to this new series. I can not wait to see what this author is going to bring to us next!
It is a short read. Many will like this as it is well written for it's length. It could be read in an evening. I would of preferred a longer book because I loved the characters and chemistry between the main characters. There could of been more involved in the particular conflict and more banter time in the office that would of e
I enjoyed the work that the characters employed themselves in as the office and cases were intriguing.
I look forward to more in this series.
I was ecstatic to learn Chantal Fernando was writing a new series!! I've been a huge fan of hers for a long time, so I knew I would love Breaching the Contract, and boy was I spot on!!!!
I completely devoured this fast past novel in one sitting- as in I ignored the rest of the world and got totally lost in Kat and Tristian's story!! I enjoyed the storyline and thought the twists and turns were very well timed. Breaching the Contract is a 4.5 star read that is the perfect way to kick off a new series!! I am already looking forward to the next book in The Conflict of Interest series ( hoping Jaxon or Yvonne's book will be next :) )!! If you looking for a quick read that has everything you hope for in a romance novel, than this book is a must!!
