Sometimes it takes meeting a complete stranger who sees us in a different light to change our perception of life. That's what happened for Alexandra. Alex, as her friends call her, isn't living her best life. She allows her life to be largely dictated by her parents. Alex couldn't be more different from her parents. They are controlling, insensitive, blind to her wants and needs and emotionally abusive.
Adam is a free bird. He lives a life that flirts with danger and he absolutely loves it. He loves it even more when that danger lands him in the ER under the care of a sassy nurse that he just can't get enough of. The connection between the Alex and Adam is immediate and intense.
Alex finds strength she never knew with Adam in her life and the two change together. Their goals in life change, their needs and wants change, and most importantly their priorities change to focus on each other.
However they underestimated the people in Alex's life that stand to lose something if they lose her. They go to great lengths and test their bond immensely to try to get their way. Will they succeed, or can adam's love help his nightingale find her way back to him?
I really liked Alex and Adam together. I thought that Alex was a likable character despite her situation being one that would indicated her being weak and vulnerable. She finds strength in having Adam by her side. I did feel like he could have taken a backseat a bit more and let her shine in her own. I always root for women to be their own saviors and wished that for Alex. Adam and Alex's connection was intense and sometimes the intensity of it seemed a bit over the top. I loved the photography aspect of the story and the really interesting little bits we got to hear about of Adam's assignments. Overall I really enjoyed the story, even got lost in it a time or two. I will definitely read more by this author in the future.
My Image of You is a sweet, heartfelt romance. Adam is a photographer always on the lookout for the best shot, regardless of where or when that shot may be found. When he's injured while trying to get a photo, he wakes up to his savior in the form of Alexandra, his nurse and promptly falls for her then and there. The two have a whirlwind relationship and fall hard. But, when they're separated for reasons we're not in on at first, my heart was breaking, as was Adam's.
It's when Adam comes home to get his Nightingale (his nickname for her) back that things amp up in intensity. What will he do when it soon becomes obvious that she doesn't know him, doesn't recognize him? How can he make her remember him, remember the love they share? Can he get her to fall in love with him all over again? Or will her ridiculous parents have their way and keep Adam and Ally apart?
I really like My Image of You. It's sweet, it's got heart, and watching the two remember who they are to each other is a really beautiful. If you like your romances heavy on the heart, My Image of You should be on your TBR list!
This was the first book I've read from this author and I was instantly enraptured by her fluid storytelling and intense emotional characters. This book stays with you for hours after you've read the last page.
I look forward to reading more from her.
Review copy provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book so much, with all of it's cute, quotable moments! Go read this now if you need something to make your heart swoon!
I was an emotional wreck after reading this story! We all remember our first true love. How we work at making the relationship work. The give and take - the good and the bad. But what if the person you fell in love with doesn't remember you? Could your love be strong enough for them to fall in love again? This book is more than a second chance romance....it's a story of love, true love. It's a story of resilience and faith, a story of hope and love, a story of an emotional reunion of souls that are destined to be together. Loved it!!❤️❤️
I volunteered to read this story for an honest review and loved it. The characters draw you in and its one of those books that are hard to put down.
Oh My Heart! I loved this book so much. Even just the blurb was enough to grab me, I wanted everything from this story- and I got it. There was so much love and passion, so many scenes took my breath away. I often found myself just staring ahead thinking about a scene that I just read. there is so much hope and light right when you think there is nothing but dark, and seeing the character go through this is as if you're experiencing it yourself. Ugh, all the feels I tell you. This book has a little bit of everything. It is perfect for any mood, and I loved it!
Oh my gosh I absolutely loved this book. I related to this book in so many different ways about love and soulmates
"My Image of You", the latest novel by Melanie Moreland, may arguably be her most romantic.
We meet the main characters, Adam Kincaid and Alexandra Robbins, after Adam hurts himself while on the job. He is a photographer, the kind that likes the perfect shot and will do what he needs to to make sure he gets it. He has tattoos, he is stubborn, and he goes after what he needs and damn the consequences. After he injures himself, he finds himself in the hospital, where he is instantly drawn to his nurse, an alternately sassy and practical Alexandra Robbins, whom Adam quickly calls Ally, despite her telling him repeatedly her friends call her Alex. The above tenacity will serve him well, almost from the moment that he lays eyes on his beautiful nurse.
Adam's immediate connection to Ally skirts almost to love at first sight, but Ms. Moreland infuses Adam with a mischievous//cocky streak, that it keeps him from becoming stereotypically saccharine or sappy.
Alex, on the other hand, is tragically caught between two worlds, caught between what *she* wants versus what her mother and stepfather demand. This stems from a family tragedy involving her stepbrother when Alex was a teenager, a tragedy which Alex's parents constantly remind her of and expect her to atone for to their liking, including trying to choose her friends, her job, etc. (The story of how Alex manages to do the job she loves, nursing, is a nice tidbit involving a relative of her stepfather's, an actual rare ally.)
Despite Alex's warnings, Adam is not put off and is determined to explore their mutual strong feelings, something Alex accepts and is obviously happy about, even as the threat/shadow of the power her parents still hold over her looms.
I won't go into more specific details, but what follows is Adam and Alex fighting for their happy ending, even as the debt from that long-ago tragedy comes close to wrecking everything. The real victory and growth is for Alex by the story's conclusion, and I think Adam's love, confidence, and faith in Alex - and in them - makes a dent in Alex believing in the constant falsehoods she has drilled into her head by her parents. I do think Alex's own mother was a heinous woman. Choosing her wealthy husband over her own child and her welfare, and a part of me does think she is almost a stereotypical villain, but some are blinded by wealth, so I can hand wave her in an otherwise wonderful truly romantic story of two "opposites attract" and how, sometimes, "opposites attracting" can lead to unimaginable but coveted happiness.
And wow, these two go through the ringer for that proverbial happy ending. But the story pulled me in from the first chapter, which is often the case for me with Ms. Moreland, as I have read many of her other works. This one is very bittersweet, but the "sweet" does overcome the "bitter"! You just need to be patient1 And that's what makes for a great romance.
This review comes from an advance copy of this novel I received from Netgalley for an honest review, which, in this particular case, I was happy to provide.
Unfortunately the book was not for me, no review was publicly posted on Amazon, B&N, Goodreads or Twitter etc, so no ratings were affected in relation to it.
Not the best book I have (tried to) read by this author, it all felt a little too sickly sweet for my tastes, and I struggled to feel any connection between the H/h.
I still like the author's writing style though, just didn't enjoy this story as much as other books I have read by her.
Melanie Moreland has quickly become an author I know I can depend on for a great read and the Image of You is no exception!
I adore the male lead Adam. He was so well……. I don’t even know what the word is... but Adam knows what he wants and he wants Alexandra.
For the moment Adam and Alexander meet, the banter is captivating. Adam’s nicknames for Alexandra were beyond adorable. They also stood for something in my mind—Adam’s desire to allow “Ally” to be her own person. Why Ally needs to break free and become her own person is heartbreaking. The unraveling of the backstory here put my heart in my throat.
Adam’s desire to get to know Alexandra made my heart swell! As it is so clear, he is attracted to more than just her looks.
This book is mostly told in Adam’s POV and is really well done! When you do hear from the heroine, it fit perfectly into the story!
In the end, the how and why Adam had to and does fight for Ally kept me gripping my kindle hoping Ally could find her way back to Adam.
The love Adam and Ally share was heartwarming and beautiful. The right person shines a light into your life making everything brighter—these two do that for each other in spades.
I want to make sure to say the 4 star rating is likely more about me than the author or the story as with a few prior books I have read, the prologue has me rushing, reading fast because I am basically an impatient person lol.
I think I'm in the minority on this one. The book's receiving great reviews but perhaps it just wasn't for me. I liked Adam. He's a strong character. He's possessive, determined and a heartthrob. But Ally, the heroine, ugh. She's such a martyr--at least I think so. I just couldn't get past the reasons she used to explain why she always did what her parents told her to do. The fake fiancé was a tad too much for me. I DNFd this at 30%. I figured if I wasn't enjoying it, I might as well move on to my next book.
4.5 Stars
I have to say this before I go any further… I LOVED THIS BOOK! This book was a great escape! I found myself getting lost in the story for hours and never wanting it to end.
Adam is a caring, sweet, protective and hands down good guy. I just adored him! Then there is Ally whom is amazing as well but she isn’t as strong as she should be. She is an amazing person yet doesn’t see herself the same way. I blame her mother for her lack of self-esteem….her mom was a *itch! But of course Adam will make Ally the strong woman she is met to be!
Next thing I loved about this book was the EPILOGUE!!!I love me a good epilogue and Melanie delivered! I cannot wait to read more from Melanie Moreland!!!
Oh, did I ever love this book!! This was a book that as soon as I finished the last page I wanted to go right back to the start and read it all over again!!
Adam is a photographer who is constantly traveling all over the world looking for the best shot. During a trip to the Emergency Room he falls hard for his own bright and spunky Florence Nightingale.
“I only met you a couple days ago, Ally, but I’ve been waiting for you all my life. Waiting for you to find me.”
Melanie Moreland's writing flows effortlessly and I didn't even realize how deeply I was being drawn into this story. It wasn't long before I had completely fallen in love with some of the characters. (Plus there were a few characters that I can't even think about without a bit of hate bubbling up.)
"Thank you for staying beside me.”
“There isn’t anywhere else I want to be.” He paused. “Are you up for this? We’ll leave soon.”
I drew in a deep breath. “I have to be. With you there I can be brave and do this.”
“You are brave. You always have been.”
My Image Of You is a beautifully sweet, steamy and emotional romance. It has some twists that caught me by surprise and kept me guessing and really rooting for Adam and Alex to get their Happily Ever After.
Review by Amber for Love Romance Books Blog
Adam and Alex have had an tumultuous relationship from the time they meet at the hospital. Adam, a photographer, travels to remote places, always chasing the perfect photo. His job is what lands him in the hospital with a head injury after slipping and falling off of an icy roof. Alex, his nurse, is used to dealing with stubborn patients, but Adam is different. She can’t seem to stay away... until she disappears without a trace. Adam is left heartbroken and confused. He is left searching for the woman he loves.
I would give this book 3.5 stars. It was a good story, but the first half a bit confusing at times. The story really came together in part 2, though. I was asked by the author for an honest review.
Oh my goodness, talk about feels! This book will give them to you. Ally and Adam have that all consuming, forever type of true love. The way this book is written makes you feel it so intensely in your heart. I seriously loved this story and couldn't get enough of this couple. They fall in love hard and quick but it was so real and believable. Their chemistry was off the charts insane! My heart broke for them but was also put back together by the beauty in this book. Such a unique and beautiful story that will stay with me for a long time.
This story was divided in two halves. The prologue was great, my curiosity was piqued and I could not out the book down from there. The first half was a solid four stars. It begins with the initial meet with Adam and Ally. Adam is a photojournalist whose profession has many risks. While on assignment, he is injured and is rushed to the hospital. He meets Alexandria (Ally), his nurse, and the two are attracted to one another. He is arrogant and she is bossy and yet they connect immediately.
There feelings soon become intense and they can't be away from each other, however, there are forces that keep them apart, beginning with a mother who is very cold and is more concerned about her place in the upper class society. Her husband, who is also Ally's stepfather, plays an adversarial role in her life. They have an ideal husband for Ally and will stop at nothing to get their way. Adam and Ally have fallen in love and have plans to marry and they are planning the rest of their happy life. Adam informs his employer that he wants to resign because he now believes his job is too risky and he wants to marry Ally. He is asked to do one more job, and he agrees assuming he will get the support from Ally. She is not happy with this and worries that given the risks, may not return. He does return and that is when the second half of the story begins.
An unexpected turn of events occur that changes their lives. Outside forces are in full swing which yield surprising results. I'm not going to give away the second half but I can say that the first half was good, the characters were engaging, lots of feels but the second half was not as strong and at times felt too ambitious of a plot twist. The story does manage to evolve to an ending that mirrors the first half, where you're reminded why you want Adam and Ally to find their HEA.
From the first page to the last, I was riveted by My Image of You and didn’t want it to end. Adam Kincaid is a renowned photographer, who travels the world to some of the most dangerous places, and he’s never been tempted to be emotionally or physically tied down. He meets Alex Robbins when he lands in the emergency room with a head injury, and she’s his nurse. He feels a heart-stopping connection with the sassy and intriguing woman, and he’s never felt anything like this before and desperately wants to get to know her.
Alex is just as fascinated by Adam, but she’s hesitant to get involved, because her life is complicated due to her domineering and powerful family. He is persuasive and downright swoony as he convinces her to take a chance on him, and they come together in an explosion of sparks that feels like destiny. They fall hard and fast for each other, but Alex’s family and Adam’s perilous and unpredictable lifestyle threaten their flourishing relationship. Melanie Moreland writes a vivid, deeply emotional love story with punches of searing heat and a few unexpected twist and turns, and you will feel absolutely everything when reading this breathtaking romance.

This was a good read. I loved the flow of the book. The way the book was written. There were some things that got to be about this book but overall I liked the main characters. The story was different.
I was feeling this book so hard! I mean I was really loving it!
The way they met... Their instant attraction to each other! I was really feeling all the new feels of meeting someone you really like in the beginning.
But out of the blue 54% in. Ally's voice changed. I mean it was night at day. It threw me with how she was acting and talking to Adam. I mean he's been her number one supporter with everything. So, I just couldn't wrap my head around why she would be acting so irrational.
Yes, I understand Adam's job was getting to her. And yes, I understand she was scared. But, Adam had proved to her from day one that he loved and wanted her.. He made it his mission to see to her happiness.
So, once I got to part 2 of the book... it was super frustrating. All the miscommunications were hard to read. I kept rolling my eyes as things were getting revealed. I just hated how it was all being played out! That dropped major points off for me in this book.
Once I got to the epilogue. I thought it was the perfect ending. I just wish the second half was a little different. Maybe I fee this way because the last amnesia book I read was Nineteen Letters By Jodi Perry. I fully expecting the same thing as the other book. But maybe a little more along the lines as part one in this book. The getting to know each other again. The falling for each other again.
This is my first book by this author. I'll definitely be checking out her other books.
