Adam Kincaid is a photo journalist who is known for taking risks, but his biggest risk of all is falling for emergency room nurse, Alexandra. It doesn't take long for these two to fall in love with one another, but their story doesn't end there. Alexandra's manipulative family, Adam's globetrotting career, and a surprise twist leads this stand-alone romance down a path I didn't expect. You'll get your happily ever after with this one, but it takes a bit to get there. I look forward to reading more from Melanie Moreland.

Adam is 33 years old and a pretty famous photographer.
His last shoot landed him in a Toronto hospital, after almost falling down a roof!
Enter Alex. She's the nurse he wakes up to. And it's insta-attraction on both sides.
But Alex has a very difficult life. She pretty much does what her mom and her step-dad tell her to do - because she feels guilty for something that happened over ten years ago - something that wasn't her fault at all. But they still run her life! Alex is trying his best to make her understand that it wasn't her fault, and that she needs to start living her own life again - preferably with him.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH ALEX & ADAM?
WILL THERE BE A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

OY! That was so heartbreakingly beautiful.
I kinda already started crying in the prologue. It all seems so impossible for poor Adam and Alex.
Poor Alex! Ugh, her parents! I wanted to jump into the book and slap the sh*t out of them!

description

The book is told from Adam's POV (Alex gets a few little chapters towards the end). The first part of the book is where they meet and fall for each other. And the second part (well, more like the last 40%) ... well, without spoiling too much for you - the second part is Adam trying to get Alex back and fighting against her idiot parents to get their HEA.

There was a very moving and sad mood throughout the whole book. But the moments Alex and Adam had together were so sweet and romantic and sexy and full of love and hope.

"I only met you a couple days ago, Ally, but I've been waiting for you all my life. Waiting for you to find me."

It was all a tiny bit insta and a bit too mushy here and there, but I really enjoyed reading it.
I couldn't stop reading actually - I had to know that Adam and Alex would win against her parents and get their happily ever after! And it takes us a long while to get to that Happy Ending! But the reader has a great time watching them fight for it!

MY IMAGE OF YOU was such a heartbreakingly moving and adorable love story! Run to your nearest amazon to find out how Alex & Adam will fight for their HEA!!!

This is a meaty romance and such a gratifying one.

The heroine, Ally, is kind, gracious and fun of spunk (until she's around her mom and stepfather). She's a beautiful person who was dealt a pretty crappy hand in the family department. Her aunt and step brother were her only saving grace. When she meets Adam she realizes what love really is and how freeing it is to be loved by someone who acknowledges and cherishes your true self.

The hero, Adam, lost his parents when he was 13. They were world travelers. His uncle loves him and takes him in, but the differences in the lifestyles are night and day. Only when his uncle puts a camera in his hand does he find his passion. He lives for the adrenaline and purpose his aftermath photography brings to his life. So much so they he almost loses the only woman he will ever love.

Superbly written and special even in it’s quieter moments, My Image of You is a rare treat.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The blurb lured me, the story kept me hooked. What a story it is!
Adam is a world renown photographer who places himself in the most dangerous of places, while back at home on a break a mishap leads him to the local ER where he meets Alex, a nurse who he insists on calling Ally. As a patient, he's a nurses worst nightmare, demanding overbearing and bossy. His charm doesn't go very far with Alex. The Dr on duty tells Alex to sew him up and the problem comes in when he needs to be watched for 24 hours because of his concussion. So what we see start as an odd meeting between patient and nurse, blossoms into an all out spectacular relationship. Not without it's problems, which are primarily her mother and step father who control her every breath.
With Adam's help, Ally's confidence grows and so does their relationship. She is persona non grata to her mother, forget the step father and the only one she has is an elderly Aunt who has been there for her. She loves Adam and she knows the two are meant to be together.

Soon enough Adam gets called back to work and travels to major disasters around the globe and of course Ally worries about him while he is away. When the trips increase in frequency and Ally becomes more unnerved by his absence he decides to retire from that aspect of his job, makes an agreement to train his underling and do one more special spread that had been planned. Alley picks a fight the day he's leaving throwing all sorts of crap at him and honestly I had no idea where it came from. These two had been through a lot, now engaged and planned to get married, quietly, the way they both wanted. Yet the mother still yanked her chain but not quite as much.

While Adam is in Africa doing a story on a hospital and dangerous wildfires at the same time, something happens back home. The last text he gets from her when he reaches civilization is she never wants to see him again. He is devastated. Clearly these two were deeply in love and what the hell happened? Gotta read the book for that second half of the story. And yes, Miss Melanie threw in a total curve.

I liked Adam a whole heck of a lot. I had a tough time warming up to Ally. Understanding her backstory which is clearly spelled out, while she let it shape her, she also tried to overcome it. Yet she still got sucked into the cycle. The final thing that iced it for me was her unusual behavior and verbal attack before he left for Africa. She knew it was the last trip, ever. She knew he wanted to honor his obligation yet she just ..... enough said. She sent him off feeling guilty (guiltier and more worried about her than normal when he left town) and not feeling very good and angry as well. When the crap hits the fan Adam is left on his own, and must deal with the fall out. Alone. I felt bad for the man. He's so taken with her her and she with him, what he returns to doesn't make sense. I wasn't really happy with Ally's behavior or the ensuing section which I won't go into detail. While she really does go through hell in her own world, it doesn't negate what Adam went through either. The Mother and step Father you will hate as well as Bradley the make believe boyfriend that her parents shove at her.
I loved her Aunt. Loved that woman and she made the book sparkle, when it needed some pizazz.

All in all, a good read. The epilogue was great. If you're a Melanie Moreland fan, you'll want to read this one.

Adam and Alex had such an intense connection from their first meeting. The two fell in love even though they had many hurdles along the way. This book is broken up into two parts. I though part one was quite long but was an excellent love story and part two was a little rushed. Glad to see the characters were able to get their happy ending.

Great read!

I really ended up loving this book! After a little bit of a slow start, I was all-in, pulling for Adam and Alex in every way possible.

Adam is an "extreme photographer"......daring to take pictures from the highest heights and most dangerous terrains to get that ultimate shot. And this was the main focus of his life. But when he gets hurt and ends up in the hospital, he is surprised by his instant attraction to his nurse, Alex. Their banter and connection had me smiling.

Seriously, this was such a great romance, done in just the right way, and I was so wrapped up in it. Alex has a past and a family that is ridiculous, with their high standards and expectations. But Adam was so carefree and trying to get her to live a little and take some chances. They had a serious chance together as long as Adam didn't give up hope.....

I highly recommend this romantic standalone!

This is a modern day romance with classic twists. A famous photographer falls in love with the nurse that helps him after an accident, but the happy fun-loving woman he knows doesn't exist inside her family. As he struggles to find a way to make her his, her family blocks him in unexpected ways. There is both language and mature intimate scenes in the novel- so it is definitely for adults.

I really enjoyed this book. The romance between Adam and Ally (Alexandra) was perfect. They were made for each other. His work as a photographer took him away from her, which she didn't like, and in circumstances came into play which dragged them even farther apart. This book had humor, romance, a bit of an alpha, angst, horrific family drama/manipulation. I got lots of feels and the writing was superb.

O.M.G. This has to be my most favorite book of 2017 thus far!!!!!! I have no words…..

In 2016, I broke away from my go to authors and discovered a few new gems, authors that just blew me away. Melanie Moreland was a gem that I am so happy to discovered! I read The Contract and it was brilliant so I decided to take a chance on My Image of You. O.M.G. You all have to stop what you are reading and pick this one up!!!

Adam Kincaid is a super successful photographer. He ends up having an accident while on shoot and has to go to the ER where his nurse is Nurse Nightingale (a.k.a Alexandra Roberts, a.k.a Ally). Adam and Ally have an instant connection! Adam convinces Alex to give them a shot. But little does Adam know that Ally has a whole different life per say.

“I only met you a couple days ago, Ally, but I’ve been waiting for you all of my life. Waiting for you to find me.”
~ Melanie Moreland, My Image of You

I feel like if I say anything you all are going to be disappointed so I am talking in circles at this point. Needless to say, Adam and Ally have to fight for their relationship.

“How did you settle into my heart so fast, Ally?”
~ Melanie Moreland, My Image of You

This book broke my heart and yet Melanie Moreland put it back together again in the end.

“I’m going to explore you ---- everywhere. I’ll touch and discover every part of you. I want to know what makes you gasp, what drives you to distraction. I’ll find out what I can do to make you groan and beg me to take you. I’ll know your body better than you do.”
~ Melanie Moreland, My Image of You

Melanie Moreland is brilliant. Again, this is my top book for 2017!

Thank you Melanie for your brilliant words and your characters that have found their way into my heart. You have a fan for life! You have a bright future in this crazy book world.

My Image of You floored me. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I read the blurb and said to myself "Going to be another Instalove romance novel". Yeah, let's sit here while I eat my words. While there was Instalove in it, there was also so much more to the story and that is what got me.

I'm not sure if I would classify Adam as a "bad boy". Yes, he had tattoos. Yes, he rode a motorcycle. Yes, he had a dirty mouth. I didn't get that vibe from him. The vibe that I did get from him was that he was an adrenaline junkie. Which explains his profession....taking pictures of natural disasters. It also explains how he ended up in the ER with a concussion the night he met Alexandra. I loved that he wasn't one to shy away from his feelings and that he went after her, even when she told him that he shouldn't. Also, I like that he fought for her later in the book (you need to read the book to find out what I mean by that).

I loved Alexandra. She was such a strong person. I mean, she dealt with things that would have broken a lesser person and she came out a great person in the end. I did think her reactions to Adam going away were a little over the top. But if I had a boyfriend who did something dangerous like Adam, I would have reacted the same way. I did like her transformation from a cowed girl to a woman was fantastic. The way she dealt with her parents towards the middle of the book was great. Which is why what happened afterward shocked me a lot.

Let's talk about Alexandra's mother and stepfather. I wanted to reach through my Kindle and smack them hard for what they did and what they were doing to Alexandra. I couldn't believe that her mother let her stepfather put Alexandra through the abuse that he did. Not only that, she participated in it!! Which made my heart-break for Alexandra.

The romance between Adam and Alexandra was Instalove but it morphed into so much more. Adam would do anything for his Nightingale and Alexandra would do anything for him. Not only was the romance great but the sex was out of this world. I am not a fan of sex in the outdoors or sex in public but Adam and Alexandra might have turned me on to it.

The last half of the book was a huge surprise to me. I was not expecting the author to go in the direction that she did. But, it added so much more to the book and to Adam and Alexandra's romance. It was the end of the book that sealed the deal for me. I also loved the epilogue. I love it when the characters are shown a few years later.

My Summary of My Image of You: 4 stars

My Image of You is one of those stories that will keep you glued to the book. Full of suspense, romance, and great sex, it is hard to put down.

Will I reread: Yes

Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes

Age range: Adult

Why: Sex, violence, and language. Also see above for my trigger warning

This story didn’t engage me and I never warmed up to the characters.
The predominant POV (the hero’s, Adam) felt mostly bland and asexual, or even leaning towards feminine tones. All that display of feelings and emotions coming from a masculine voice sounded odd sometimes.
I guess having an insta-love relation fueled my loss of interest.
I didn’t like the drama and evilness surrounding the heroine’s family and the heroine’s submissiveness.
The fact that so much information was conveyed through dialogue also annoyed me and felt artificial.
This story was not for me, but others might like it.

Adam is know for his ability to capture disasters through his lens and turn them into beautiful works of arts. He is strong and bold, and willing to fight for what he wants.

Alex is a caring and beautiful soul, who only wants to redeem herself and please her family. However, there's so much more to her than meets the eye. She has a strength within herself that shines through when she needs it most.

Moreland had me spellbound throughout this whole journey. These characters become a part of you as you read about their love, their struggles, and their passion.

My Image of You was just what I needed to get out of my book funk! It was just so good, so well written. The story flowed really great, and the story was just really good! Such a well written book!

My Image of You is a stunning novel by Melanie Moreland. With descriptive, flowing writing and heaps of emotion, Moreland tells the story of Adam and Ally, the kind of couple people call soul mates, if only her parents would allow for it. Adam lives for the thrill of being a daring freelance photographer, he's known across the world for his photos of war zones and natural disasters. When he wakes up in the hospital and meets Ally, the nurse on duty, he finds something new taking up his thoughts. He makes it his mission to know her, finding more happiness in her than he ever found behind the lens of his camera. Her family is part of upper-class society though, only a doctor would be good enough for their Alexandra, and they'll stop at nothing to keep Adam and Ally apart.

Talk about complex characters, even the secondary characters have history and personalities that drive the story line forward. My Image of You has the sort of characters you feel like you've met in real life. Ally is sweet and endearing, a perfect example that you are not a direct reflection of your upbringing, while Alex is alpha, jaded, but more than willing to fight for what he believes is right. I love his career and his dedication to not just photography, but to helping Alex experience a life she'd been so sheltered from. They're from opposite sides of the spectrum, raised completely different, but their chemistry and compassion is so similar. Their relationship is made up of all those cheesy moments readers love, because we want them for ourselves. They're the ideal and though Adam and Ally have to fight to be that way, their relationship is magical...at least for a time.

"'Mine,' I whispered, my breath blowing over her cooling skin.
'Yours,' she replied. Nothing, and no one, was going to change that. Ever."

More than the romance and the chemistry, I really enjoyed that Moreland gave so much weight to the struggles Adam and Ally faced as a couple. Family issues and distance caused by a career is real, this happens in people's lives all the time, and these moments are massively significant to how a relationship works. It would have been so easy to gloss over these moments, consider them a bump in the road, but it was more than that and the reader can feel that in My Image of You. You could feel the character's physical pain as they missed their counterpart so much. Then there was the twist, it was magnificent. The prologue gives a brief glimpse, but it has nothing on the events that takes place over the course of several chapters. It's shocking, a deceitful disintegration of a beautiful romance. The broken pieces of Adam and Ally will make your heart hurt, but Moreland gives readers what they want, characters that fight for what they want.

"All those months summed up in one, beautiful, frightening word. Adam."

I really enjoyed My Image of You and I think romance readers will fall in love with this new Loveswept title. Melanie Moreland gives readers a captivating love story and made me fall in love with Adam. I can have him now that I finished the book, right?

How can a few stitches to a head end up with a soulmate you cannot live without. Adam is a photographer who brings to life the tragedy of natural disasters and war. Ally is a nurse who has had no love and support from her family. When this unlikely duo meet in the ER, Adam finally feels he has someone to come home to, but Ally's family tries to tear them apart. This emotional story had me going from laughter to tears and even had to put the book down. From the angst, lies, deceit and hatred from Ally's parents it was a wonder they both found their true loves. An awesome story that I highly recommend.

Enjoyable easy read with a little angst thrown in. The story follows sexy bachelor and photographer Adam Kincaid (a true gentleman with a hint of alpha) as he meets and falls in love with Alexandra (Ally) Robbins, a nurse who is emotionally abused and blackmailed by her mother and stepfather. After living her life under the complete control of her family she finally finds strength in Adam to distance herself and break free. Unfortunately, life throws them both a curveball and the path to true love is not quite as neatly laid out as they (or me for that matter) would hope. Lovely writing and a great plot told mostly from Adam’s POV, some fantastic supporting characters, lots of sexy time with some emotional moments thrown into the mix. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
