Daisy Mason has gone missing and the police suspect that her family had something to do with it. As they investigate, they learn sordid details about both parents and brother, which lead to a shockingly unexpected conclusion.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. I would classify it as part police procedural, part psychological suspense. I found it to be a fast-paced page-turner which held my interest throughout, right up until the surprising ending.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Penguin Books and Cara Hunter for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I had previously read the author’s In the Dark, the 2nd book in this D.I. Adam Fawley series, and thought it was great. This one was good but something about the ending bothered me. For the story to have ended on the emphasis of the name Sabrina was odd as I didn’t get the reference or meaning of it. Other than that, it had lots of interesting twists and turns. I did not see the ending coming at all. I liked the Fawley character and learned a bit more of his background but believe there is more of a story to tell. These books are well written, solid, enticing police procedurals with likable characters. They don’t need to be read in order.

DI Adam Fawley is assigned to look into the disappearance of eight year old Daisy Mason, who vanished from her family home during a party. He begins by looking at those closest to her and he has plenty to be suspicious of, her father distant, and a brother who lives in his own world. Fawley has too little and too much to work with at the same time, but time is running out for Daisy . A twisty thriller that I couldn’t put down
