This is book 4 in the Nikki Boyd Files and it does a great job describing more of Nikk's story. This tells about a criminal investigator that is tracking a killer, not just any killer the same serial killer that murdered Nikki's sister. This was book four, but it seemed to be more like a filler book that explains the other books in the series. I enjoyed the characters and the suspense and I was able to finish it it only a few hours. Thank you for allowing me to read this and write honestly about it.
Vanishing Point by Lisa Harris is a mystery suspense with a little romance. It is spread throughout over a decade which is unusual for most books I read. It states that it is part of the Nikki Boyd series but she plays a secondary character that shows up a couple times in the story. It is based on the Angel Abductor investigation which is a subplot to the Nikki Boyd series. Her sister was killed by this serial killer. .
The main characters are Garrett and Jordan who had met in the police academy. Her path led her to the FBI which resulted in the end of their relationship due to the distance and their jobs. Garrett tried working for his father in their law firm. As the book opens he has left and is working for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.
Jordan deals with a lot in the book regarding her family and her relationship with Garrett. Garrett struggles with family issues and the guilt of not solving the case as other girls are killed.
I really liked the book but I couldn’t help but regret all the years they lost that they could have been together.
It is an intriguing mystery.
This book four in the Nikki Boyd Files series. It works well as a standalone and does a very nice job of filling in more of the details about what happened with Nikki’s sister. There were a few moments when I felt like I was in some kind of time warp and had actually picked up the first book in the series, but that wasn’t actually so.
I liked getting to know Garrett and Jordan. Their long distance relationship that has been rekindled again and again by the disappearances of young girls, definitely was a nice touch. I really felt I got to know them through their actions, thoughts and family life. One complaint I had was how Garrett was upset that Jordan moved away to take a job with the FBI. Why oh why couldn’t he have found a job and went with her? I’m not a huge feminist, but it seemed to me that he had no pressing ties to stay in the area he was in, while she had a wonderful opportunity to join the FBI. It was unnecessary for them both to feel bad about the separation, and too much of the book focused on them being upset by it.
Overall, it was one of those books where everything comes together beautifully, and I highly recommend it.
The newest installment in the Nikki Boyd series is by far my favorite. Lisa Harris has written one of her best and one of my top picks for the year!
Garrett Addison has left his father’s law firm to be a member of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He hasn’t ever felt like he belonged in that lifestyle and wants to make a difference with what he is doing in his life more than his father would have with their practice. When his team is called out to the scene of a murder of a young girl left with a Polaroid of her scared face just before being killed, they are able to tie her to a string of unsolved murders. The FBI is called in to help, leading Garrett to work with Special agent Jordan Lambert. Garrett and Jordan have a past. Before she went off to the academy they were in love and could have married each other if distance and careers hadn’t gotten in the way. After years of murders and unsolved cases, Garrett decides he can’t take it and leaves the task force. As time goes by, another dead girl brings the team back together. Garrett vows that this time will be different, he won’t fail this time. He is more determined than ever to get justice for the murdered girls and keep everyone else safe, including Jordan, who is quickly winning his heart again.
I have been a fan of the Nikki Boyd series since Lisa Harris started writing them and her latest installment doesn’t disappoint. While this is a Nikki Boyd novel, Nikki isn’t the main character. She is in the book, but more as a secondary character this time. The time line starts in 2004 and leads up to the present giving lots of information that wasn’t in the previous books, but adds to the story of Nikki and how she got to the point we see her at starting the series. With Garrett and Jordan as the main characters, we see more than one side to things. Garrett starts with the task force and then leaves to help others in a different way while Jordan is with the FBI. While she is not consistently on the Angel Abductor case, she can’t help but think about it at all times. Their being brought together is a natural occurrence of events and goes along with what the characters would naturally do. And while it is obvious they both have feelings for each other they don’t act on the feelings at inappropriate times that wouldn’t make sense for the story and take away from the suspense, a fact I appreciate greatly. I liked how everything wasn’t wrapped up in a time frame that wasn’t realistic as real life cases sometimes take years to solve and it can be messy.
I have found some authors and books are enjoyable, but forgettable. I am happy to say Vanishing Point by Lisa Harris is not one of those. I recommend this book to those that love a good suspenseful novel with twists and turns throughout and just the right mix of romance to bring the characters together.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.
I selected Vanishing Point to review because it was a Nikki Boyd novel, and I’ve previously read Lisa Harris’s three earlier novels featuring Nikki Boyd, and I thought this was part of the same series. It isn’t, but it is.
The Nikki Boyd Files are contemporary Christian suspense novels, each following Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent Nikki Boyd through a case. The subplot is her search for her sister, who was abducted outside her school more than ten years ago and hasn’t been seen since. Vanishing Point starts before that, with the investigation into an abduction and murder of a teenage girl. The investigators work out it’s actually the third murder by a previously unrecognised serial killer, dubbed the Angel Abductor by the press.
The book then leaps forward to 2005 and the disappearance of another girl—Sarah Boyd. We are introduced to Nikki a teacher, and the older sister of the victim. Despite being the character this new series is named for, Nikki Boyd doesn’t appear again until the halfway point, in 2006, when another girl disappears.
I’ve read Vendetta, Missing, and Pursued, so I know the TBI still hasn’t caught the Angel Abductor in 2016. So at the halfway point, I’m wondering what’s going to happen in Vanishing Point? Is it going to skip ten years in the future and solve the case (in which case the entire first half of the book is backstory)? Or is it going to stay in 2006 and leave the central crime unsolved, a cold case?
It’s probably no secret what happens, because the book description gives it away. (Not that I read the book description before I started reading the book—I requested my review copy based on the fact it was about Nikki Boyd, and by Lisa Harris.) Anyway, it all felt a bit awkward.
Having said that, it was a good read—plenty of suspense, a little romance, and a solid underlying Christian theme. Recommended for fans of Christian suspense.

I thought this book was good, it is a continuation of the Nikki Boyd files. I was a little confused because I thought the case had already been solved in a previous book but it was all explained by the end. This is part of the Angel Abductor series. Garrett Anderson and Jordan Lambert work together to catch this killer. Garrett and Jordan had met at the police academy and then they went different directions in law enforcement and are brought back together by this case. Neither of them has forgotten the other and hope to pick up where they left off.
This is a fantastic edition to the Nikki Boyd Files series. This takes us back in time to learn more about how Nikki’s sister died and why Nikki became a cop. This shows the policeman and the FBI agent that work on the serial killer case that includes Nikki’s sister. I love the romance and the suspense. There is a great balance of both. I did not want to put the book down. I received a copy of this book from the author and Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
I've read all of the Nikki Boyd Files books and have to say that while I've enjoyed all of them this one has been my favorite! It was so neat to go back in time to see the story behind the series. I also really enjoyed getting to know Jordan and Garrett.
I think I knew this book was going to be five stars at the end of the prologue. I was already hooked and it wasn't even a long prologue. Vanishing Point has such a great mix of danger, suspense, and romance. I also really liked that none of the characters had perfect lives. They all actually had quite realistic lives where they worked too many hours, didn't always make perfect decisions, and had a fair amount of pain and family drama. I really appreciate that. It is nice to see people in novels that I can really relate to.
The romance in this book was not the main story. But it was weaved in perfectly so that I was able to really enjoy it but it didn't overpower the suspense.
Harris is a superb suspense writer. She keeps you on your toes the entire book. She had me hooked so fast and kept enough twists and turns throughout the book that even at the end I wasn't entirely sure who played what role in the crimes.
I don't know what Harris will come up with next - but I know I can't wait to read it!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review.
This was my first Lisa Harris novel and I was immediately drawn in! In this story, you follow Garrett Addison as he works for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and seeks to solve a harrowing case. In trying to solve this case, the TBI calls in the FBI, and Addison is brought face to face with his biggest regret in life - not following after his girlfriend, Jordan Lambert. Throughout the story, Addison and Lambert struggle to not only solve this tragic tale of a serial killer and at the same time navigate what is going to happen in their relationship. I was completely drawn into the story, I loved the development of the characters and feeling like I could really identify with the emotions and questions that they asked on their journey. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!
*thank you to Netgalley and Revell for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
3 stars.
While I enjoyed this, I didnt love it. The style of the story from beginning to end, being spread out over 10+ years was....different and Im not sure if I prefered it or not. It was just different and something I wasnt use to. Still, the story was good enough to keep me engaged and I did like the characters. While you dont need to have read the other books in the series before this, it would have been nice to, just to have gone deeper into the background history. I really dont have much to say about this. I am glad I read it.
This was one of the best suspense books I’ve read in a long time! It’s technically part of the Nikki Boyd series, which I’ve never read, but this book can definitely be read as a stand-alone novel. It’s written as part of Nikki’s backstory, but she isn't a main character, which I thought was a really cool way to tell the story from a different perspective.
The story starts out in 2003 with the murder of a teenage girl whose death is believed to be linked to a serial killer, and it follows the main characters through the years as more girls go missing. The way it jumped from case to case kept things interesting, but still easy to follow. It’s a really unique plot, and definitely keeps you guessing all the way through! The mystery was believable and suspenseful, the characters were relatable, and the writing really drew me in. I couldn't wait to see what happened next!
This was the first book I’ve read by Lisa Harris, but it won’t be the last! The other three books in the Nikki Boyd series are now on my Amazon wishlist :) If you are a fan of the mystery/suspense genre, I definitely recommend this book!
Love this series! Lots of action with the mystery of a serial killer will hold the attention of the reader. This book will give the background of Nikki's sister kidnapping. Anyone that reads FBI stories will enjoy this novel. Highly recommended!
I've enjoyed watching this series unfold as it takes part from previous books, but has a story of its own as well. This book will keep you reading and have you read the previous books if you have not done so as well. Garrett does not feel that he has done all he can in the case he is working on and gets discouraged. He pairs with Jordan, an FBI agent and together they find themselves working together to find out what happens before there is another victim.
I received a copy from the publisher, the review is my own.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was thrilling, captivating, and filled with action. I was hooked from the first page and didn’t want to put it down. I finished the book in two sittings and was disappointed when it was over.
This is the first book in this series that I have read and I thought it worked very well as a stand alone, though I do think fans of this series would definitely enjoy finding out what happened to Nikki’s sister. After finishing this book I looked up the descriptions of the previous books in this series and I think I will go back and read the rest now. Nikki doesn’t play a big part of this book so it would be interesting to see more of her and her story.
This case was very interesting to me and I was unable to pinpoint who the killer was. This book was really well written and I enjoyed delving into this case. I look forward to the next book in this series!
*I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.*
Vanishing Point is a spine tingling, heart pounding me right out of the chest, heart racing so you could hardly breathe., goose bumps raising –what a book and all that happened in the Prologue and first Chapter. That poor girl it should never have happened – this truly happens to girls like her. Poor Detective having to see what he has to see so he can go after monsters ike that . Thank goodness for faith-based detectives like Nashville Bureau of investigation detective Garrett and his faith in God and now FBI agent Lambert who is helping him now – will they find him ? Will they see more girls ? Will they fall for each other? this book is definitely worth the read.
This book is very different from other books I've read in this genre. I really enjoyed it! The story is filled with twists and turns, the characters are interesting and relatable. Can't wait to read the others in this series! Received this book from the publisher for my honest review.

I am reviewing a copy of Vanishing Point through Revell and Netgalley:
On Garrett Addison's first week on the job as a criminal investigator for the Tennessee Bureau Of Investigation his team is called to the murder scene of a young girl, the third victim in a string of disappearances with a common thread, a Polaroid Of each victim left at the scene.
The FBI is brought in on the case and Garett finds himself working with Special Agent Jordan Lambert, the very woman he had once been in love with. When the sixth girl dies Garett cannot help but blame himself and starts feeling as if he does not have what it takes to be an agent.
In this book well loved, and Best selling author Lisa Harris brings to light a case that haunted authorities and the public for over a decade.
Five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
Vanishing Point by award-winning author Lisa Harris, is a romantic suspense book that is hard to put down. It is a gritty tale of a serial murder case that remains an open case for a number of years. Following the characters through to the end was quite suspenseful, as the twists and turns to the case just kept on coming. Although the story line has several time lapses, the author fills in enough information that the reader doesn't wonder what has happened during the time gap. For readers who have read the previous three Nikki Boyd Files, Harris fills in the story of what has happened to Nikki and her sister, Sarah. For those who have not read the others, no worries, the book has enough backstory that it can be read as a stand alone book. There is definitely a lot of romantic tension between the two main characters, Garrett and Jordan and the reader keeps hoping they will finally resolve their issues and get their act together. The book with its edge-of-the-seat, breath-holding scenes gets the adrenaline flowing and yet there are poignant situations that touch the heart as well.
Through all the action and drama, a thread of faith in a God who cares is woven into the story, reminding readers that God can be relied on for strength and wisdom in times of stress. I can't wait to read more of this author's books.
