Another exciting book in the Nikki Boyd Files series! This one overlaps the previous books with the backstory of Nikki's sister's abduction, the event that brought Nikki into the police force. The team of officers working the case returns, with the focus on special agents Garrett Addison and his friend, FBI agent Jordan Lambert.

This author is skilled at pulling the reader into the police drama, with all the danger, uncertainty, and frustration in solving a complicated case like the long running serial abduction and murders. There was more of a personal side to this story it seemed, including family relationships, and friendships teetering on romance. The issues of grief and loss, anger, and questions of faith were woven into the story in a natural, genuine way. Pertinent questions applicable to everyday life--such as, where is God when evil takes place--added interesting discussions, and made the characters feel more real.
Recommend to readers who enjoy suspenseful police dramas, with some romance and faith. 4.5 stars
