Ryan's story has been a breath of fresh air. I'm enjoying the comedic relief of his banter with Ruby Lee and a more lighthearted personality than the other two Steel brothers. Ryan's trilogy began and ended with a heck of a cliffhanger. I'm really hoping I can finally get the answers and closure I need in this saga. This series, though it is going quickly, is just never ending. Too many books.
This is the 7th book in the series and reading them in order if recommended.
This book featured Ruby and Ryan and has a storyline that will keep you flipping pages from beginning to end! With secrets and plenty of twists, it’s a fun and exciting read as the story continues with the Steele brothers. The author does leave the read with a cliff hanger at the end and I can’t wait to read the next book!
I didn't realize this book wasnt a standalone so I had to go read the rest in the series.
I love this author she never disappoints
Shattered is not a standalone! I did not read all of the other books in the series to understand what is going on :( Unfortunately, this is book 7 and have not had the time to go back.
Has to pick the star - Rating based on the intriguing descriptions and the cover which is beautiful!
This is book 7 of this series and my first read with this author. There is enough info to read this as a standalone though you want to know of the surrounding circumstances to get a full feel
A thrilling read which keeps you drawn in. Ryan is the youngest and most handsome Steel brother.
Past events, deeds of parents, clubs formed display deceit and paranoia.
HOT, scorching love scenes filled with passion.
Great read - can't wait for book 8 but meanwhile I have 6 other books to read
Such a sexy and wonderful read. Such a great series. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one!
Again, this one is hard to review. As many have said, the book ends on a cliffhanger. I have never been a fan of that. A series of books can be good with a HFN ending while continuing on with a storyline in a series. Unfortunately a book becomes forgettable when too much time happens between books with nothing resolved. That being said, "Shattered" was a good book and I enjoyed Ryan and Ruby's story, but I am not sure if I will remember what has taken place by the time of the next book. Please authors, take care of your readers and we will take care of you. I would like to thank NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for gifting me with "Shattered". I also own a copy of it. My opinion is my own. This is mine. 3 Stars!
Excellent book. A definite must read! I recommend this book.
I enjoyed this book, but I'm starting to feel like they are all the same. This book is the story of the 3rd Steele brother. I would like a little more suspense in this book, like in the previous ones.
wow and wow i know most people save the best for last but ryan might be the one for me and i love this series and dont want it to end
'Shattered' by Helen Hardt is Book Seven in "The Steel Brothers Saga". Ryan and Ruby's story will leave you breathless and panting for more. This can be a standalone book and since I have only read this book, I think I would have done better if I had read the previous books in this series to have a firmer understanding who all the players are but still, you can read this and be ok . This is slightly a dark toned romance with a few trigger issues in this book. Detective Ruby doesn’t know what love is since she was a teenager. She is friendly with the Steele family thanks to her investigation on their case but being near Ryan is still somewhat uneasy and at times scary. Ruby has a past that is full of ghosts and of fears but something about Ryan calls to her ..could be because of their pasts being connected.
Ryan is the youngest Steele brother . He is funny and light hearted and quite sexy. Ruby is a detective who has been helping Melanie with Gina’s parents. Her current goal is to put her abusive father behind bars seeing as he’s one of Talon’s abductors. Ryan would totally have every reason to want Ruby dead or even hate her for who her father is…but it seems that is not the case. Ryan makes it clear he knows she is not her father and doesn’t hold her responsible. I do not , in this book, find where they talked about Talon’s abduction but it could be in a previous book BUT there are so many twists and turns that take place and when one thing is resolved there are more things that popped up And this looked like it was being wrapped up all in a neat and beautiful bow but suddenly a epic cliffhanger took place and now this storyline is moving to the next book which I will most definitely read. I am dying to know what happens next. I enjoyed reading Ryan and Ruby’s emotional and beautiful story. There was passion and angst but it was such a wonderful story to read.
My Rating: 4.7 stars *****
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
Another Sizzling Steel romance from Helen Hardt. It's Ryan's turn to find his future by exploring his past and enjoying his present. But will the beautiful Ruby Lee be part of his future?
I liked the book! It makes me want to read the rest of the series.
Ryan Steel is known in Snow Creek as the handsomest Steel brother with the most jovial personality. Now that his busy grape harvest and winemaking season is over, he's happy to spend time with his family and help his brothers, Talon and Jonah, celebrate their impending nuptials. The Steels are taking a well-deserved break from the conspiracy surrounding them...until an unlikely woman and a long-buried secret shatter Ryan's world.
Detective Ruby Lee has been on her own since she was fifteen. When her past collides with the Steel family's mysteries, she's determined to find the truth. She has her own issues, and she's not looking for a relationship, despite her all-consuming attraction to Ryan Steel. The gorgeous dark-haired man gets under her skin anyway...and he needs her.
Together they explore both of their histories, but those pasts could cost them a future.
I really love this series. In fact, I got the signed version during an author meet and greet and didn't know it until I got home and looked in my bag. To say that I was totally excited was an understatement. I loved it!!! This book to me...was the bomb diggity! LOL!! My favorite Steel brother yet and talk about making chocolate melt...Lawd Jesus - that's an understatement. Read the series and y'all will see what I'm talking about!
I was given an ARC copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.
This book is a wild ride that's completely worth the price of admission! I am convinced that Hardt is an evil genius. Just when I think I have everything figured out, she drops another bomb and you are back to square one. There are so many turns, you will have whiplash by the end of this ride. The audiobook is also worth the money. I can't wait to see what Hardt dreams up next!
I couldn't resist jumping into this series because I keep seeing it on my Facebook feed. I really wanted to see what the hype is about. Luckily the author does a pretty good job of doing enough of a recap in the beginning that I had no problems jumping in and following along.
I was hooked on the plot immediately. This has a secret society aspect to the overall series that will keep you guessing with each chapter. You do get previous couples in this book and this series is a lot darker than I was expecting so it may have some triggers for some readers. Overall, I enjoyed it and want to go back to book one and get everyone's story. ARC provided by NetGalley.
A great book in an amazing series. Ryan Steele isn't just the fun, extremely handsome Steele brother. He's just finished up a very busy wine making season and he's looking for nothing more than to be able to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Fate, however, has other plans.
Just as the family thinks all the controversy surrounding them is over and they can celebrate upcoming weddings things take a dark and somewhat twisted turn. Like the other books in the series, this one will leave you on the edge of your seat at every turn of the page.
The writing is spectacular! Although this is book seven it can be read as a stand alone. However, if you don't read the previous books, you miss out on all the other Steele brothers and that is something you don't want to miss!
When Ruby Lee walks back into Ryan Steel's life all of the sedate life he was trying to cultivate in his vineyard is quickly turned into chaos.
My customers can't wait until the next one is out. I pre order at least 10, and we are a small, independent bookstore that mainly deals with used books and some new.
I like Shattered much more than I liked Craving, which is the only other book in this long series that I've read. This time it starts off Ryan Steele's journey to love. Ruby Lee is a detective apparently featured in some of the previous books of this series. She's an interesting character - smart, tough and with some inner scars thanks to her evil father (one of Talon's kidnappers/abusers/torturers). When Ryan sees her on the plane when they're flying to Jamaica for Talon and Joe's weddings, he upgrades her to first class and a tentative bond is made between the two. But, it's when they're in Jamaica and he finally sees beneath the drab clothing she normally wears, that Ryan first notices her as a beautiful woman.
There's a little bit of suspense and intrigue and more focus on the investigation into Talon's kidnappers. And then the crazy cliffhanger. Yes, I said cliffhanger. Of course there's a cliffhanger. It seems as if this entire series is based on cliffhangers, which drives me nuts. I probably won't bother reading more about Ryan, even though I like him more than I like Talon in Craving, because I have a feeling this is one of those never ending series that's a time and money suck. But, I do like Shattered and Ryan and Ruby make an interesting, sexy, entertaining couple. If you're a fan of this series, you'll most likely enjoy Shattered, even though it's apparently lighter in tone than any of Talon and Joe's books.
