Dasha asked where she wa sand the domovaya said she was in the forest. Dasha had gotten angry with her companions which included her father for killing the deer especially since the deer had helped Dasha. But the domovaya said she was going to set them on fire or curse them or both and she shouldn’t do that as if in a temper tantrum. Dasha asked what was the use of her visions if she couldn’t stop things from happening. The domovaya said she couldn’t see everything and to calm down. Then Dasha sad all she does is have fits and hurt people. Then Dasha was told true knowledge and wisdom only came from silence. The domovaya led her deeper into the forest until they came to a rise where the other side had a stream and she was told to sit. The Domovayas are to teach Dasha how to use and control her magic. But Dasha leaves the Domavaya’s realm. In the forest Dasha is aided by people and spirits. She also runs into times where she has to use her wit and magic to survive. She had made it hard on herself by not staying with the Domovayas to learn.
Once again I had mixed feelings. More of Dasha’s immaturity. But I will say I was glad I did read the second book. But Dasha needed to mature. I did like how the author put Russian mythology and fantasy were woven together. I did not like the animal abuse in this book or the past rape or child abuse but it does happen so just kept reading. I did feel bad for the pressure being put on Dasha. As I said though I did have mixed feelings.
