I have a sweet spot for the Disney Fairies, and every story that fleshes out the world of Pixie Hollow makes me smile. I can easily admit that Tinkerbell is not my favorite, I find myself drawn to the other characters... especially Vidia. So that being said, Vidia and The Fairy Crown was a story that I was really excited to read. I've always enjoyed manga and the art style of this volume is really fun. Haruhi Kato did a great job, creating a story that can be enjoyed by adult fans as well as very accessible for young audiences. The world is vivid and well built, the characters have a lot of attitude and this was a very fun piece to read. Easily devoured in one sitting, it's a fun read if you're a fan of the Disney Fairies.

You've just gotta love Tinkerbell and the Disney Fairies. If you like this, I also recommend the Tinkerbell (Disney Fairies) Scholastic GNs as well..

Really loving this line of Disney Manga. Ok, the stories are simple and in line with manga the line work is frenzied, but while the black and white may put some children off this is an excellent way to get children involved with other media that they may overlook.
Recommended for children aged 8+

Unfortunately the book was unreadable as it wouldn't open no matter what I tried. I'm a little bummed out but I'll be sure to check this book out when it comes out. The cover is very pretty and the synopsis is very interesting as it was what got me to try this book in the first place. Tokyo Pop always makes awesome manga so I'll trust in them that this will be a great manga and give them 5 stars

Disney Fairies, Vidia and the Fairy Crown by Haruhi Kato. Children's Fiction, Comics & Graphic Novels. Fantastic fairy land illustrations with a mystery among the fairies at Pixie Hollow. A new Disney favorite for preteens and young teens. Thanks to NetGalley, Diamond Book Distributors and Tokyopop for providing this ebook for review.

A cute story set in pixie hollow, I love the background information you get on Neverland. I also liked that Vidia was a bit more of a realist then the rest of the fairies.

I've been a big fan of Vidia since my girls first started watching the Tinkerbell movies a few years back. This story really was great at showing her volatile nature and her hidden heart.

ARC copy...I admit it felt weird to read the manga ver. after being familiar with the western art ver. of the tale but it works. Vidia seem to work out as the moody anime anti-hero archetype and Tinkerbell seems just made to adapt to the manga world. So as a manga pick for Disney fans I would say yes.

Vidia and the Fairy Crown by Haruhiko Kato is a great Disney book. My daughter and I both enjoyed it and will be reading more of them.

A successful marriage of Disney and manga. What Disney was known for doing very, very well was infusing non-human characters with very human traits to make them, if not lovable, always relatable. Manga is known for gorgeous illustration. And of course, both are known for their storytelling. Tokyopop, as always, does a great job of imbuing characters with enough differences to tell them apart easily. Vidia has a bit of an Evil Goth vibe happening, visually.

This edition includes a 10 page Sneak Peek of Magical Dance: 13-year-old Rin joins a troupe and realizes that she has two left feet. She’s discouraged by her lack of practice results and almost gives up on her dream. Tinkerbell appears to encourage her with a little Disney magic!

Because of the fairies, this is more likely to appeal to girls than boys, although it does star a cranky fairy with attitude so you never know. Pick this one up and have fun.

Note: This is an English translation of a Tokyopop publication from 2008. The covers are identical, and if you own the original you may not want this unless you want the translation.

I Love Vidia. She's stubborn and independent, but her attitude kind of sucks. This story is a mystery. It covers assuming without fact, falsely accusing others, patience, not giving up, doing the right thing, and giving credit to those who deserve it. I would for sure suggest this story. It was cute, and besides... who doesn't love the Disney fairies. This was my first Manga. It was a little awkward getting the hang of it in the beginning but in the end I was able to flow through it easily. I let my nine year old read this after I did and he hasn't shut up about it since, so it's totally kid approved!

I really enjoyed this manga. It delved into a suspenseful mystery plot, while also challenging us to interrogate our assumptions about individuals, with strong character development.

I loved every Disney Manga I read so far.
I mean, there are two off my favorite things combined: Mangas and Disney. How could I not love them?
I am not that into the Disney Fairies, but still loved this Manga and recommend it to everyone who loves DMangas and Disney.

I liked a lot the comic! I love to watch all the fairies movies so when I saw that the comic was about Vidia, I was willing to read it.
I really liked the storie, Vidia as the main character is great!!! But I don't really know why Tinker Bell is on the cover!!!
The illustrations are great also!!

Disney Fairies is a Manga style graphic novel aimed toward young preteen girls. The characters and topics are age appropriate.. The fairies look for the queen's missing crown and is full of fairy mishap and adventure. It is awesome to see a Manga graphic novel targeting this demographic. There are no hints at romance, just dress up, parties, and fairy girl friendship. Who will be banished when the crown goes missing? This is a good introduction for reluctant readers to this style of book, and due to Japanese Disneyland, will be popular with preteens, and some teens who love Disney Fairies.

Oh boy, oh boy, this was just too good. I am so glad that I went with my gut instinct and clicked on the read now button. I was at first not sure, I wavered a bit. Why? Because this is about Neverland, about the fairies, and I was worried one particular little bitchy fairy may make an appearance or even have a big appearance. Namely Tinker Hell.

Thankfully Tinker Hell apparently doesn't have a lot of appearances in this one, though I was definitely not liking her actions when we did spot her. Bleh. Terrible girl.

This book is all about Vidia. A pretty deredere fairy who lives alone from the main tree. I just adored her from the first time we see her. She is a bit grumpy, but I just adore that. Everyone else is so cheery and glittery and happy happy. Vidia at least shows her feelings, she isn't afraid to be different. And yes, she may have to stop being so angry at everyone, and maybe scaring fairies isn't nice (unless it is Tinker Hell, then I am all agreeing), but I could also see that she is just acting. Actually she cares. She cares a lot about her fellow fairies. Why else would she care so much about that crown. I mean, if she really wanted to leave she would have accepted the false accusations and just left. Instead she went on a mission with one of her friends and went to find that crown.
I also loved that she looked so cool and then used endearments like: sweetheart, love, dear. :P
Yep, Vidia is my favourite fairy of Neverland!

The mystery of the crown, and their journey to find it was definitely fun. It also showed us various other fairies and swallow men, and showed where they worked and what they did. Boy, I am kind of glad I am not a fairy with laundry talent, dear lord, I don't want to think of doing laundry all day every day. And not just my own, but everyone's laundry. Eurgh.

I didn't quite like the other fairies and how quickly they were accusing Vidia. I know she is a bit of grump, but come on, this is just rude. :| But I was glad that there were a few who knew Vidia better and knew she was just acting tough.

The art is fabulous, I so love the style. OK, the eyes were a bit yandere and thus creepy, but that is the only thing I didn't entirely like. The rest was just perfect. I loved that Vidia was drawn all cool and tough, unlike most of the other fairies who were drawn bubbly and cute.

Extra points to the Diary of Cute Little Fairies at the end. I really loved those.

All in all, I want more Vidia manga! Give me!
