I voluntarily offered to review this book through Netgalley and was pretty excited when I received it as I read the first book in this series and loved it very much. This book was as good as the first one, if not better. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would read books by this author anytime as she is a really good writer. Cant wait for her next read
This is the first book I've read of this series. I should have read the first book because there are many references made to it in this one. It took me awhile to like the characters but the mystery elements of the book kept me going. There are many things going on Kat the main character is still learning what it means to have the power to hear and interact with ghosts, she is also dealing with a mystery of a murder from the past as well as learning about her own family and past while anticipating attack from an enemy called the Dark One. Many things are happening. We learn with Kat what it means to carry her burden.
Because I tried to read the first book in this series and didn't care for it, I will not be reading this second book in the series. If at anytime in the future I reread these books I will change my rating at that time.
I gave this book 4 stars. This sequel was way better than the first book to say the least. I was 100% invested by the end that I really just want to sit down and binge the rest of the series that has yet to be written.
Kat is what I would call a perfect character. She is the perfect amount of flawed, relatable, and compassionate. She’s a character that maybe I don’t love with all my heart, but I can’t think of a single reason to dislike her. She’s a solid character that I don’t mind reading about at all.
Evan has done such a one eighty from when we first met him. He went from the man who was making Kat miserable for no apparent reason to making sure that everything was always going okay for her and that protecting her when she needed it the most.
What I find most grounding about this series in general is the fact that they don’t always win. In most YA novels the protagonist somehow manage to always come out on top, nothing bad ever really sticks to them. In this series, Kat can’t fix everything with the snap of her fingers. She wants so badly to help them and she does to a point, but she can’t fix things 100% and sometimes those small bits and pieces that remained broken are really heartbreaking.
If you’ve read the first book already you can probably sense the slow burning romance coming on. It hasn’t happened yet but the sense is getting a lot stronger, there are many hints and I’m curious to see how it’s going to happen.
I’m happy to report that we also finally get to know what their ages are! I was so confused about how old the characters were in the first book and I’ve finally figured it out. The group of friends are in this special boarding school, their seniors so 17 or 18 years old; Evan is in fact 20 years old doing that teacher assistant thing. I don’t know if it’s for school or if it’s an internship of some sort, it becomes more clear while still remaining pretty vague.
Overall, read it. It’s got something new to add to the YA world. It’s more than just an action packed teen romance, it’s got a whole bunch of titillating subplots mixed in along with intriguing characters.
The story begins by Kat being bombarded by ghosts looking for their reckonings so they can move on and not stay tied to this world. They all seem to be terrified of the Dark One who has made issued a death threat against Kat.
She receives help from an unlikely source, her dad’s family, a man whom she has never met.
She must travel back in time, with her friend Evan, to find a dagger if she has any hope of defeating the Dark One.
This book reminds me of many of my favourite magical TV shows and books like Charmed, Harry Potter, the Worst Witch and even a little hint of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Although I would recommend before you read this book to read the first, The Girl Who Ignored The Ghosts. I didn’t and I feel like I missed a few things as it kept referring to the other book.
There was a lot to take in, magical rings, ghosts and time travel to name a few. There is so much I couldn’t fit it in this review!
I have to love Kat. She wears glasses and is on the curvy side. She’s also brave, strong and tries to do the right thing, even if it almost costs her her life. There’s a bit of chemistry between her and Evan, I can feel a bit of a romance is in the air with those two.
I ended up really enjoying the book even the whole time travel aspect which is a difficult feat to pull off without seeming a little cheesy or forced.
I feel though the story lost a bit of steam near the end. I understand it was rounding off the story and building up to the next but I just kept expecting some action or something which never happened.
I can’t wait to see what KC Tansley does with the next book!
After reading the first book in the series, The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts, I couldn't get enough and jumped right into this story. Kat is yet again thrust into the darkness and she fights for her life, Evans' life, and tries to help the ghost of little Ellie. Kat is trying to come to terms with what it means to be the Langley heir and how much she really needs Evan. Their bond is further solidified by a single act in a moment of panic and terror. The heirs are being hunted down and Kat is not about to let that happen, that is, if she can help it. She finally is let in the the family secret (as much as they will tell her) and faces tough choices. Her family is depending on her, her future is depending on her, and her and Evans' lives are depending on her. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book. She gets to meet other Langleys as she learns more about herself and her destiny. Again, this story did not leave me on a cliff hanger but I cannot wait to read the next installment in Kat's world.
This is the second book in this series. I really like these. Yes there are ghosts involved, but there is time travel. There is action. There is some very low grade romance. This series seemed to be one big puzzle with a chunk added from each book. I will be watching for book so this puzzle will be complete. This book flows well. The characters are likeable. It has a plot the makes you want to read the next book. Great job!
So we carry on from book 1, right where we left off. More ghosts, a little help from the eccentric older ladies, and far more learning underscore the new landscape before our adventurers.
The characters are discovering that the connection between the families that was a mere detail In the first adventure has far more meaning. Not only are they descendants of the ghosts they helped in book 1, they are returning to the past to prepare for entirely new set of dangers ahead.
Is having the ability to change the past also a moral imperative to save lives if they can be saved?
If they CAN -- does it mean they SHOULD? Who is to say which deaths are right or wrong?
Kat has discovered she cannot ignore the ghosts that haunt her and now she will risk her own life to help right a murder that history got all wrong. Her own history will finally be unveiled as she learns more of the family and the father she never knew. What she didn’t count on was learning of the Dark One, a terrifying being that wants only to see her dead. As Kat learns more of the four magical families, she will also learn the value of teamwork and caring as she and Evan journey into the past and certain danger in search of another heirloom that must be protected at all costs.
How far is too far to go to correct the past and save the present? K.C. Tansley tells a ghostly tale of high adventure, dark mystery and danger as one girl and one boy face both the living and the dead head on with little but their gut instincts to guide them. Will Kat’s compassion and need to do the right thing be her downfall? Does she have the right to risk Evan’s life, too?
Travel through time, feel the past come to life and be part of a world where ghosts are real! Kat is the young heroine who sets the bar for other young adult heroines and THE GIRL WHO SAVED GHOSTS has everything to keep readers on the edge of their seats as each scene unfolds into a collage of supernatural intrigue!
Once again, K.C. Tansley’s writing is spot on in creating a must-read tale for any age, filled with twists, unexpected turns and heartwarming moments!

I didn't finish the book, I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story. This is highly subjective and personal though, and in no way reflects the quality of the author's writing.
I would like to thank the author and NetGalley for the opportunity.
If you haven't read the first in the series., stop and go read it before taking this one on. This is a great series that should be read in order. First off, I must give props to the author. I have read many books about ghosts and these are some of my favorites. I love the characters. though I must say Evan and the aunts are my favorite. In some ways, a little like Sabrina the teenage witch, the Girl Who is a wonderful time traveling, ghost helping series that will keep you guessing as to just what is going on. I just love these stories and hope the next one is just as good, if not better.
What a delight to be able to read about my favorite characters, Kat and Evan. This second book had more, new, interesting characters and was full of mystery. There wasn't much of a backstory or story as the book 1 though, but it is not so much that it is off putting. This could be definitely read as a stand alone book if you haven't read book 1.
I'm hooked!! Once again, I found myself transported to a world filled with mundane and magic, ghosts and humans, unbelievables and heirlooms, with love of family and more. The realism of the characters and their development, their compassion and conviction brings this series to life. This is going to be what I recommend to everyone this school year!
This is the second book in the Unbelievables Series and it was even better than the first one. K.C. Tansley has done it again, this time with more surprises and secrets revealed. The connection developing between Evan and Kat is beautiful to watch unfold in the pages of this series. The way the past, present, and future is so interconnected in these stories is an amazing addition to the beautiful development of the characters lives. I am an absolute fan of K.C. Tansley and cannot wait to continue to experience her writing.
Thank you NetGalley and K.C. Tansley for allowing me the pleasure of reading and reviewing this book.
I got this for free for just entering in to win the paperback of this fantastic amazing novel, so I thought I'd give a little love to netgalley for hosting this copy and to the author so this can get another raving review!
I absolutely adored the first one and this one did not disappoint at all! This book was just as mysterious and adventerous and amazing. Once again Kat runs into a ghost - this time a little girl who begs for her help. Kat has to go back to the home she just found and once again travel back in time to defeat the "Dark One" with Evan.
This is amazing, seriously. If you haven't checked out the first book definitely start this series!!
Better than the first, she comes to terms that she an see ghosts and comes to terms with it
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.
Before i even finished the first book i requested and received this book. I was so excited to read it and i bet you are too so as its not released yet i promise no big spoilers.
Following on from the last book we follow Kat and Evan on a journey to the past and into the bodies of another generation of their ancestors. Its filled with adventure mystery and danger. We see Kat and Evans friendship grow (and prey that it becomes more) we learn more about Kats family both past and present and get to meet afew of them who try to help her understand what being the langley heir means.
The book ends leaving you wanting/needing the next book now. And as i read this as an advanced copy i can only hope that K.C. Tansley is well underway on the third book cause the wait is going to kill me!!!
The Girl Who Saved Ghosts was a paranormal story of four mystical families and their legacies. Kat and her friend Evan are the newest heirs and are learning their skills and responsibilities to their friends. As Kat finds our her destiny she also gets answers to her own questions as well as ghosts that seek her out for her help. This YA novel should appeal to those who enjoy paranormal stories. (ARC)
Sjeez, I'm very happy I'm not Kat. After her first adventures in The Girl who Ignored Ghosts, she kind of directly gets sucked into the next story in this second part of the Unbelievables. To fully understand the story I would recommend to start with the first one in the series.
But KC Tansley certainly knows how to keep the pace up. Now it is up to Kat to go back into time to retrieve an ancient dagger for the Kingsley family. But there are forces out there, who are not amused that Kat has altered the past by resolving the murder on Cassie.
In order to help her defend herself, she leaves with Evan to stay with her two eccentric aunts. After several attacks, Kat and Evan are recovered enough to travel into the nineteenth century and they inhabit the bodies of Ellie Langley and Percy Kingsley. But with a twist here...
Of course, the retrieval of the dagger doesn't go to smoothly, so Kat and Evan find themselves in several tricky situations. However, throughout the book the total family history of both the Langley, Kingsley and the Radcliffe family is being revealed. Hopefully there will be more books on the other artefacts of the different families. Another five out of five stars for KC Tansley.
A big shout out to NetGalley and Beckett Publishing for the ARC for my honest review.
I have not read the first book-I actually didn't notice that it was the 2nd in a series. I have now obtained the first book but I am reading them out of order.
It actually reads rather well as a stand alone-I didn't feel like I was missing that much by starting with the second. It certainly didn't detract from the book. I enjoyed this book as I never knew what was going to happen next. She gets to meet her dad and family (finally-sorry their excuses just don't cut it for me). It held my interest and attention which I think is a great thing as it is geared toward a younger audience. Pick this series up and give it a try-I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
