This is book 3 in the Alpha Security series and I admit that I have not read the previous 2 books but these books can be read as standalone.
I very much enjoyed this book. I liked the chemistry between Charlie and Vance. This book has everything I was hoping for. It is sexy and it has romance, mystery and humour. It kept me wanting to read more and I now want to read the previous books very soon.
I am giving it 5 out of 5.

I was very excited to start Hard Justice as the blurb sounded so action packed and exciting! And that is exactly what we got in this novel! Vince and Charlie were sexy, fiery, had hot banter for days and had light your sheets on fire chemistry. I absolutely could not get enough!

While Hard Justice is a standalone, it is the third book in the series that follow a select group of elite operatives and the security firm they work for (Alpha Security). Charlotte "Charlie" Sparx is the first female operative at Alpha Security. While constantly battling her need to prove herself amidst a bevy of men and all their testosterone, along comes Ex-SEAL commander Vince Franklin, a distraction in the form of six-and-a-half feet of cocky, confident, Alpha-trained muscle. So what happens when they are forced to team up and partner as an undercover assignment as an engaged couple? FIREWORKS, folks. Pure fireworks!

I was so hooked on this novel. I loved that Charlie and Vince had an oil and water connection at first but something kept drawing them both towards each other and getting under their skin. It was so addicting. I also loved that they both had their respective vulnerabilities and painful pasts but were able to deal with their issues and become stronger people for it. All in all this was a fantastic novel and I can't wait to catch up on the first two books in the series. Bravo 4 stars! ~Ratula

I would like to thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review!

This would be my first title that I read by April Hunt. And going by what I read from Hard Justice that was a lack on my part. Hard Justice the third title in the “An Alpha Security Novel” was great. The synopsis didn’t really do this book justice to the way this book was written.
Hard Justice has a place for all readers to enjoy; sexy characters, a strong will woman capable of taking care of herself, but a strong alpha male standing by her side…. just in case. We can’t forget the action & adventure with a load of romantic suspense thrown in for good measure.
Not knowing how Alpha Security come about was the only think troublesome. But again, that was my error and not the Authors. This book read like a stand-alone, but I had to order the others in the series because this story was too good just to read only this one.

3.5 Stars

Charlie and Vince were an interesting couple. I liked that Charlie could hold her own, not only with Vince but also with the others in the Alpha Security Team.

And, this is where my review gets a little tough. As, the woman in me loves that she is strong, and capable and that she is as strong as the guys, and that she gives as good as she gets. I loved that...but, this sort of overshadows the romance.

Let me explain. I don;t need the woman to be simpering, I don;t need her to "need" rescuing, or to be nothing without the man...but I do need to believe that she does need him. Because, for me, you can be whole without the relationship...but there has to be something about that relationship that compels you to be willing to share your life with the other person. For me, this was lost a little in the story-line that was about how capable they each were.

Now, that isn't to say that the book was ruined. It wasn't. I did enjoy it overall, and I liked both Vince and Charlie as characters, and I believed them as a couple, even if I wasn't as engaged with them as I would have liked.

Overall, I do recommend this title.

I have read the previous books in this series and was overjoyed to see the one and only Charlie Sparks finally get her story told!

Charlie has made her own life after wild child past which almost ended in tragedy. She is asked to take the lead in an investigation die to her connection to the man under investigation. It finally comes to light that she has links to the Miami underworld, which she will once again subject herself to, all in the name of stopping a human trafficking ring.

Vince may be alpha to the core, but he can see Charlie for the kickass operative that she is, and her computer skills are scarily good. But once he sees her treading the shark infested waters of her family once more, all he wants to do is protect her, knowing full well she can and WILL kick his ass!
But the sparks between these two cant be denied and when they come together there will be fireworks!

Charlie is prickly and a hard character to love for some but I got over the frosty, take no prisoners attitude as her past came to the fore and you realise why she has defences up the wazoo when it comes to her heart. With a truly horrible family life she did well to get out when she did.

I loved figuring out who the "bad guy" was and as usual I got it wrong! But I loved the outfits Charlie and Vince had to wear during their little outings in Miami! I can't wait to read more!

I’ve been enjoying April Hunt’s Alpha Security series. She’s got a cast full of characters that don’t overlap and dominate the current storyline, and she’s got a great storytelling flow. Her heroes are self-possessed and sexy, and her heroines are confident and interesting.

Alpha Security isn’t an organization you can Google when your bike is stolen, rather “they were the men who got shit done when the government’s hands were metaphorically—or logistically—tied.” Charlie Sparks is the only female operative at Alpha Security, and is normally relegated to her comfort zone of computer genius. But when the DHS seeks her out specifically for a case they’re working on human-trafficking with a possible link to agency corruption, she finally gets a primary position on a case. The only caveat is that she’s got to work with Ex-SEAL commander Vince Franklin, the newest member of Alpha Security and the only colleague that sets her blood to boiling.

Thanks to growing up with one of the East Coast’s most notorious crime lords, Arturo Franconi, Charlie handles herself well in the field and is a fighter. She had to develop enough street smarts and self-defense mechanisms to survive growing up in the middle of a crime cartel led by her uncle. Her childhood experiences and connections make her the perfect operative to get on the inside and figure out why young women are being kidnapped from nightclubs in Miami.

Not all elements of Charlie’s early life were bad, though. Her uncle’s right-hand man and head of security, Anthony Torres, was a vicious son of a bitch—but his son, Brock, looked out for her. He hated the cartel life as much as she did, but while Charlie set up an exit clause for herself, Brock had stayed behind, working as a deep-cover agent for the government. It was a shock to see that, a dozen years later, Brock was not only still in Miami, but all evidence pointed to him being involved with the cartel.

At times, Charlie was hard for me to connect with. I get she had to develop a crunchy shell to survive violent odds, and I get she’s the only woman working with a stable full of testosterone-filled men, but her steady need to prove herself an independent badass didn’t always jive with the importance of team dynamics. It was a little distracting, even though she was a badass. Once she got her head out of her ass and started working with Vince instead of against (or, really, in spite of) him, they proved to have a formidable partnership. I thought Hard Justice was just as much about Charlie’s struggle of introspection as much as her struggle to bring her uncle to justice. Learning to trust her partner and lover, Vince, was a hard-fought victory for her psyche.

This was a pretty good book. Charlie has had to prove herself throughout her life. Working at Alpha Security, she can take on any of the guys. At least that was the case until Vince joined the team. She had never had problems focusing before simply because of a guy, but Vince is distracting her beyond all reason. When they are paired up, the attraction is palpable and the acting like an engaged couple is easier than it should be. Even when their lives are in danger, the heat between them is obvious.
I really liked Charlie. Her back story and that she kept it from her team was understandable.
It was a 4/5 for me. I truly enjoyed this book and the way the characters interact. The team is like a family and Charlie has a bunch of annoying big brothers at times. Vincent is a man's man and has the mentality of 'I'm going to take care of my woman', which I love. Even when he knows she can take care of herself, he wants to protect her. There is a balance that the two of them have to reach with that and I enjoyed the ride to get there. I really do want to read more about these characters and can't wait to see who the next book is about.
It was a 4/5 for me. I'm going to go back and read any others I missed in the series.

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book (via netgalley). I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

I like the premise of this book - Charlie is a woman in a man's man world. It was refreshing to see a strong, badass woman kicking a$$ and taking names.

Add in uber-alpha Vince and things will start to heat up. They have been circling each other for a while now and I just needed them to get their act together. He is also ultra-protective of Charlie, and at times I could understand her frustration, but boy, what I wouldn't give for a man who treats me like he treats her.

Charlie, now her I had some trouble with. She frustrated me no end at times. Don't get me wrong, I love her badassness and fierceness, but then some of the things she said and did just gave me the irrits and I found myself rolling my eyes at her.

But this could just be me.

Now, I am not going to lie, I did nearly give up on this book. I am not sure what it was about it, but I had to keep forcing myself to pick it up and read it, and it took me 4 days to read when I read a book this length every night. However once it got to about 65% I found myself fully involved and read the rest in one sitting and was glad I pushed through.

The drama and suspense had me guessing right until the end.

I have not read the first 2 books in this series, however this did not affect my reading of Hard Justice.

I will read this author again in the future.

Just gotta love a book where the feisty female is the protagonist! She's strong, she's tough, and she's my idol. Great adventure the reader goes along with an Alpha team.

In HARD JUSTICE, Computer whiz Charlie has been sent to live with her mob boss uncle after the death of her mother. After leaving him eight years later, she gets caught skimming money out of someone's bank account. She is given a choice, go to school and then work for a shadow group who go places where cops and the government can't….or go to jail. She chooses school and the job, and her future course in life seems set.

Vince is a former SEAL and the newest member to the Alpha team. He and Charlie are always verbally and physically sparring. He recently lost one of his best friends and has nightmares, so he never gets close to women. He's a one night only man.

After a string of kidnappings occur from nightclubs Charlie's uncle owns, she and Vince are sent as a couple to check it out. Secrets are revealed and they must work fast to save the girls and put a stop to the human trafficking ring they have discovered.

HARD JUSTICE is the intriguing third book in the “Alpha Justice” RS series by April Hunt. This book and series contain action, suspense, the mob, sex, and a group of people determined to help keep the world a better place. Although this is the third book of the series, HARD JUSTICE can easily be read standalone.

I had never heard of this author but I was invited to read it from netgalley. I'll be honest I almost didn't because I didn't know her. I read the blurb and decided to give it a try. BOY am I glad I did! Lots of action, suspense, the mob, sex, and a group of people determined to help keep the world a better place. They go into places cops and government can't.
