Loved this book! And so did my boys, ages 9 and 6. It was very colorful and engaging for them. Highly recommend it and I am buying a copy for my church library too!
This is a fantastic ABC Bible book for the little ones. They pictures are great and the words chosen help facilitate biblical conversations. Unfortunately, I can't say much else, since they copy provided to reviewers did not include the words for each letter. I guessed what they were from the pictures, but that was a difficult formatting problem to overcome.
I love how this book is set up! My children have enjoyed this book immensely!
This is a beautifully simple, theologically sound ABC storybook. The overall story of the Bible is all there and flows smoothly even with the alphabetical constraints. Though geared for children ages 1-3, I think a slightly older child could memorize this book and have a good basic understanding of God’s story. It’s written well and has interesting though somewhat abstract pictures to go with each page.
This is the board book version of “The Biggest Story: How the Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden.”
Thank you to Crossway for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I was not required to leave a review. All opinions are my own.
I think it was a little above children’s heads. It looked like it was intended to be a baby book. Regardless of it being a baby or picture book, the words were too big with no explanation. I think they could have used pictures to tell some of the story and just used one word, like N for Nativity and S for Savior or something.
A few years ago Kevin DeYoung, senior pastor at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, North Carolina, patterned with illustrater Don Clark to bring the Bible to color in The Biggest Story. It is a telling of the Bible in one big story, From Adam and Eve to the Resurrection to the End of the Story.
The duo has come together again to release a new board book for children ages 1 to 3. The Biggest Story ABC connects to great, big story of the Bible with learning the letters. Each page introduces a new letter of the alphabet with engaging and whimsical illustrations from Clark. The Biblical narrative is retold as one continuous story, much like The Biggest Story.
What I Liked
The illustrations are a plus, as they were in The Biggest Story. And they are not just copies of Clark's art from The Biggest Story. Many of them are new. Some of them should be sold as posters.
But what I really like is the movement of the narrative. The Biggest Story ABC does not just make the alphabet fit into its agenda. The story is told, highlighting the letters along the way. Each page has a simple sentence or part of a sentence as it communicates our faith story.
This is a great way to introduce letters to your small child as well as a broad look at the Biblical narrative.
Jesus Wins.
The Christian message told by the ABC's - starting in the Garden with Adam and ending and ending in Zion. The gospel with who God is and what he has done brings your child and you to the Good news. Each letter is given to the gospel and in doing so, your child is learning their ABC's by sight and sound.
With colorful illustrations, it engages a family devotion of redemption.
Will be purchasing these for my grandchildren!
A Special Thank You to Crossway Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
This is a neat children's book that marches through the Bible, from Creation to Resurrection, with the guidance of the ABCs. There are colorful illustrations that help engage the young reader in the story of the Gospel. I would recommend this book to parents who desire to teach their young children about the Bible in a fun and exciting way. It would be an excellent addition to church libraries and Sunday school classrooms.
I received this as a free ARC from Crossway on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the most beautiful Bible alphabet board book I have ever seen. Not your typical "B is for Bible", this book has a message of salvation from creation to Christ, with beautifully colored illustrations that are both classic and modern at the same time. This reads in a very normal and natural way to the child on your lap or in your cradle roll or Bible class. Wonderfully done! This book is a must for church collections, libraries of all kinds - public and book mobiles, and is perfect for gift giving for new babies, and toddlers. Stunning!
