What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten.
ARC received from Hachette Australia for an honest review
This book is just stunning. From the first word to the last, I was enthralled with Brax and Jem's story.
Right from the get go this is a very emotional story. I think my heart fell to the floor at about the 10% mark and it took the whole story to bring it back to my chest.
We are put through the wringer right along with our lovelies in this story.
Brax is just all kinds of wonderful, and my heart broke over and over for him, however, every chapter, every letter let me hope just a little bit more - just like him. I just wanted to give this beautiful, devoted man a hug and tell him it would all work out.
I really couldn't put this book down (although I did, just to sleep!).
It was beautiful, heartbreaking yet heartwarming being taken on the journey as these soul mates found their way back together through Brax's 19 letters.
This has become one of my favourite reads of 2017, and wish I could read it again for the first time.
Can't wait to see what Ms Perry brings us next.
5 TOO BEAUTIFUL TO BE FORGOTTEN STARS!
I wish I could give this book NINETEEN STARS. I hope readers will do like I did--put aside/forget any other book or movie that you think has already done this topic and read this book. I read the description of the book and thought "isn't that like a movie I saw"? Then I went to the book trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCzZqk67jTg and thought OH MY I HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK.
Nineteen Letters is one of the most gripping books I have ever read. I seriously got mad when someone would speak to me and interrupt my reading. I didn't want anything to take me away from Jemma and Braxton and what quite possibly was the most romantic, heartbreaking and loving couple I have ever read. I don't really know how to go on from here reading wise.
Jodi Perry's writing is superb and not anytime during the book did I feel this was a 'story' as it felt real, raw and so emotional. My tears were plentiful during the entire book. We get a real sense of the love Jemma and Braxton shared at the very start as they are home from their honeymoon, gloriously in love and lust and relishing in the boughs of seclusion as they begin their marriage. One the 19th day after their marriage the world feels like it just stopped and my heart broke. What began as a fun, flirtatious and fabulous morning soon turned to despair, disaster and doom when Jemma is in a tragic accident.
During this time we see the depths of Braxton's love and devotion to his wife and his sincerity of his vows in loving during sickness and health. My heart broke for Braxton, the entire family really, and for Jemma who was stuck inside a shell and didn't know what was supposed to fill her up anymore. The journey of healing leads to a trying of patience yet Braxton remains steadfast in his love and belief that Jemma will remember what their love consisted of. Braxton and Jemma both were surrounded by a great support system that help guide them along the journey yet in some ways those people grew and healed in their own lives from Jemma's parents, Christine and Stephen, family friends, Rachel and Lucas, to Braxton's Pop.
Braxton's letters to Jemma were so beautifully written and so heartfelt and heart wrenching at the same time. I was in awe of the Jodi Perry's writing and ability to transport me back to the exact moment Braxton is writing about and making me feel everything in that moment. With each letter I rooted more and more for Jemma to remember Braxton, their love or just about anything to give me hope these two would be one again. I was drawn in to the story I felt I would be devastated if these two didn't find their love again.
Nineteen letters of pure devotion and loved outlined in writing doesn't feel like enough to showcase such a beautiful love story but it was actually the perfect, the exact right amount.
NINETEEN LETTERS is about a love too beautiful to be forgotten.
This book pulls at your heart strings....it's definitely a grand love story!! Looking forward to more from Jodi Perry.
True first love is what Jemma & Braxton experience. They define childhood sweethearts. They grow up next door to each other & became best friends from the start. The number 19 is very special to them for many reasons. Shortly after they marry, Jemma gets into a car accident & loses her memory-of everything & everyone. Braxton is determined to have Jemma love him as she once did. He decides to write her 19 letters, hoping they revive her memory. Although tragic, this is such a sweet love story.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!
I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Wow, what a beautiful love story, told in such a lovely way. Reading this was like embarking on a journey with the characters. There were moments of sadness and helplessness and then moments of hope and joy. I loved the character of Braxton who was loving, romantic and caring and did not give up.
Reminiscent of a Nicholas Sparks novel, this would be perfect to be made into a film.
"What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten". The words of Braxton Spencer, he writes them in his 19 letters to his beloved Jemma hoping she will remember the wonderful life they have had together since they were children.
After a tragic accident, Braxton is doing everything in his power to help Jemma remember the beauty that was them.
Nineteen is their number, the significance in every important date in their life so far and it is Braxton's hope that by the Nineteenth Letter, Jemma will regain her memory and they can continue to live their happily ever after.
This is a must read book, you may even "ugly cry" in some parts. The emotions this book invokes will really tug at your heart strings. I have to say that I think this is one of the best books Jodi Perry has written to date, all of her others are excellent, but this one just stands out to me. One I am sure to read again. If only we all could have a Braxton Spencer in our lives, he is the epitome of what we would all love our young men to grow up and aspire to be, a beautiful man who gives his all for those he loves.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book and give an honest review.
I loved this one. It was sweet and I loved the build up and excitement of what was next. The way Braxton showed his love and support to Gemma was swoon worthy.
The flash backs and the present were a great touch and I really enjoyed learning their background, it made both main characters more real. I loved the emotion in this book, the author was able to make you feel the pain and uncertainty that Braxton felt.
Will definitely be reading more from this author!
**Netgalley Review**
What Braxton and Jemma shared was an unbreakable bond; they were true childhood sweethearts that went through an almost unbearable tragedy. While Jemma was confused and slowly rediscovering her life I, as the reader, got to completely fall in love with be perfect Braxton. He was so caring, forgiving, incredibly romantic and completely devastated that my heart broke and healed again and again through the emotional letters he wrote detailing their past. I loved that Jemma got to fall in love with him all over again!
A very well written and beautiful love story. This is the best I've read from this author so far, looking forward to what she comes up with next! 4.5 stars
An beautiful, emotional and romantic love story of childhood sweethearts who have to find each other again after one of them loses their memory following a car accident.
Both main characters are wonderful but it's Braxton that really shines with how supportive, patient and loyal he is, and his determination to win back the love of his life. He does this in so many thoughtful ways but mainly by writing 19 letters of their past together. The memories are so full of love that they just melt your heart.
They are supported by some great secondary characters which fleshes out this story to be more than just a romance with great stories about friendship and family. Braxton's relationship with his Dad a particular highlight.
