This is a rather fascinating book that will actually take many readers by surprise. The title does actually give the story away to some extent, but not in the way that you think.
Although the basic premise is about a young teenager that can suddenly teleport himself, he can only do it under some very unique circumstances.

Turnabout is less a story about teleportation and more a unique dystopian. The first few chapters had me a bit concerned, but once the story landed in the alternate world, Makoro, it really took off.

I liked reading a story from the teenage guy’s POV. Since the majority of the book focuses on Makoro, I wish more time had been spent on building this new world and a little less time spent on Jason’s realization that having all the “free sex” he wants actually comes at a price.

Overall, the story was well written. If a reader enjoys portal stories and dystopian alternate worlds, this would be the book for you.
