The Playboy Prince and the Nanny is a sweet romance that almost has a fairy tale feel to it. I would definitely call this an “escape novel”. The writing, the location, and romance all allow the reader to step away from their real life for a short period of time.
Prince Diego is always making the headlines and stealing the spotlight for his family. He has been labeled as a playboy but underneath that facade is a man who will do anything for his family. This is shown to be true when his sister-in-law and the family nanny is killed in a car accident and he rushes home to be with the family. Once there, he helps hire the new nanny for his niece and nephew, a young woman named Rose.
Rose has worked for a nanny agency for several years and enjoys teaching and taking care of children. She has a light energy about her and starts bringing laughter and joy back to the children and their family. She also finds herself attracted to their uncle. She learns that Prince Diego is not the man in the headlines but, she is conflicted on if they can make an actual relationship work with her employment status and his status as a royal. There is some sneaking around in The Playboy Prince and the Nanny which bring some sweet scenes to the fold.
As I said, this is what I would call an “escape novel”. The reader is taken to a different location with sweet romance, heart-felt characters, and a little bit scandal to keep you guessing. There is a second book in this series called The Crown Prince’s Bride. It follows Diego’s brother Raoul, and I’m hoping that Rose and Diego make a few appearances as well.
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
THE PLAYBOY PRINCE AND THE NANNY by Donna Alward. This tale is a quick read that was enjoyable and a true escape. There is emotions throughout - sadness and grief, along with newfound love and happiness. Ms. Alward has a way of making the reader feel these emotions and for that reader to keep turning the pages hoping to feel more, which they do. Rose and Diego are ideal together - they balance each other perfectly. The children are an added bonus that bring that little bit of extra that warms the heart. This is what I have heard as a behind the doors romance, as there is little "action" but I didn't feel I needed it. Ms. Alward made me believe in their attraction without having to witness it. For a story that is quick but fulfilling, that will make you smile and shed a tear, check this one out. (received ARC from NetGalley for honest review)
Prince Diego Navarro is known as a playboy, fun, partying prince who doesn't care about anything. But behind closed doors he is not that person at all. His older brother is first in line, and loses his wife in a car accident. Diego steps up and takes the initiative to help out for his niece and nephew.
Rose Walters, is a nanny come to help. She is used to being a nanny to rich and famous and Prince Diego doesn't phase her one bit. But as she gets to know him she slowly starts falling for him, but she doesn't like his life in the public. She is a private person and he's royalty and she's the help. Could they be together?
I read this book some time ago and do not remember too much about it. But I did enjoy the fact that it was a chance for someone to change his life and show that he could be more responsible. It was very sad the way that he had to step up and get his niece and nephew past everything but it was great to see him step up. It was also sweet to see him fall in love with the nanny.
Here is a book that I have been looking forward to for a long time! Can't wait to read more by this author!

My Review:
I almost passed this one by for fear it might be a cheesy princess tale, but my admiration for the author had me take a second look. Lucky me, it was not cheesy at all and was a rather sweet and heart-squeezing read with endearing and lovable characters. It was a quick, entertaining, and satisfying read. I enjoyed it so much I’m ready to dive into the next book, pronto.
THE PLAYBOY PRINCE AND THE NANNY - Donna Alward
#1 in the Royal Duology romance series
SWEET ROMANCE - 3.5 stars
Plot - 4 stars - After the death of the crown prince's wife, Rose is hired to be nanny to their two young children. She does a great job bringing life and laughter back to the castle, and she also starts to have feelings for the heir's brother, dubbed by the media the Playboy Prince. They couldn't be any more different in station, but they seem to have lots in common in their private lives.
Writing - 3.5 stars - I've found Alward's writing to be pleasant and very easy to read. She creates characters who have strong feelings but who are also very relatable.
Characters - 3 stars - Diego is not the typical playboy as he appears in public. He's a very strong family man who loves his brother, niece, and nephew, and who tries to do the right thing no matter how he is perceived by the media. Rose is the typical Mary Poppins sort of nanny, with a good reputation and high scruples. But when she starts to fall for Diego, she is concerned about everyone, trying to do the right thing and not get herself hurt in the process. Diego is a nice guy hero, but I don't feel that we get to know him all that well. He's used to getting his own way, of course, but he's not overly alpha about it. Pretty ordinary, actually. Rose is a little difficult to like because of all her doubts, fears, and worries. They do indeed seem like a mismatched couple, but somehow they seem to work well together.
Title - 3 stars - Pretty self-explanatory. Not a lot of imagination, but it gets the point across.
Cover - 3 stars - Attractive, nice bright colors, nothing to complain about.
Overall - 3.5 stars - This is basically a very pleasant romance, feeling a little old school, meaning there's just a hint of sex and lots of dreamy romance. There's not a lot of emotion, this is not a dramatic love for the ages. It's just nice and warm and sweet. I can't really find anything to rave about, but I also find nothing to complain about. There is a scandal at the end that raised the excitement level and helped to round out the story nicely.
Such a sweet read. I love that they focus so much on family in this book. The children were adorable. That the prince falling for the nanny could potentially cause a scandal doesn't keep his father and brother from supporting their relationship. That the royal family doesn't accept a relationship due to social status seems to be the main conflict found in these sorts of stories I like that this took a different route.
This was a quintessential summer read and a pleasant surprise for this reader. Thank you, Donna!
I've been on a big royal type romance kick - maybe it's because I think prince harry is super hot but I've been really enjoying royalty themed romances and this one was really good. Very sweet with a lot of character development. I look forward to more by this author.
This was a light romance that touched my heart several times.
I read all sorts of books and every now and then I want to read something that lets me escape and I'm not trying to solve a murder (mysteries) or being roped in with a suspense novel. This book let me escape to a small country and gave me a peek into Royal life and that they are human just like you and me. Sadly Rose comes into the palace due to a tragedy - two children have lost their mother and nanny and Rose is hired to be the new nanny. She has a special connection with them and is able to help fill a void and also bring smiles and laughter back to the palace.
Interestingly enough, Diego is the one that hires Rose vs the children's father. And of course upon first meeting her he falls head over heels in love, he just doesn't recognize it at first.
Their relationship has ups and downs during that time but true love always wins.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book about the older brother but I have a feeling I know who he will end up with as a love interest!
The Playboy Prince and the Nanny is out today! This is the first novel in Donna Alward's royal duology and not to be missed!
The Playboy Prince and the Nanny was such a lovely surprise. I was expecting something boring, but this wasn't that at all. Rosalie is the new nanny for Prince Raoul Navarro, the Crown Prince of Marazur. His wife and nanny died in a horrible car accident, and the Prince is floundering. So his brother, Prince Diego, the "spare heir" has vetted the interviewees and they've picked Rose.
Rose comes into the position with a lot of trepidation. She's from a working class family and knows she will not fit into the royal world. And yet, she came highly recommended from her nanny agency, and she's worked with posh families her entire career, so she knows she'll be able to do a good job. And when she meets Max and Emilia, she knows for certain this is a job she's meant to have. But, it's Diego, the Playboy Prince, who will upset her calm, orderly world and make her fall in love.
I really enjoyed The Playboy Prince and the Nanny. Normally I don't like romances with fade to black love scenes, but here the emotions are so heightened and it's so well written that the lack of steam isn't noticeable or even missed. Rose and Diego are such wonderful, layered characters and they share such a special connection. Rose is just a regular girl, and she knows it, she's STAFF, the help, and Diego's the Prince, ROYALTY. "I'm staff, you're royalty, and never the twain shall meet." She's so aware of the disparity of their stations in life, and it makes her fight her feelings vehemently. But Diego, accustomed to having his way, absolutely bowls her over with his sweetness, his charm, and his love for Max and Emilia, the children she's fallen in love with, too. I was expecting the typical manwhore, arrogant royal prince, but Diego is far from that. On the contrary, he's sweet, and compassionate, and is trying his hardest to make his father and his brother to see him for the man he really is - a smart, hardworking man who loves his family.
The swoon factor is high here The Playboy Prince and the Nanny and I'm glad for it. Rose and Diego are such a great couple, with a strong connection. And then there are the adorable kids, Raoul and their father, Alexander, Stephani (Raoul's assistant), Señora Ortiz (the chef), so many excellent, entertaining characters, that The Playboy Prince and the Nanny didn't lack for a well rounded support crew. I'm really looking forward to Raoul's story next (The Crown Prince's Bride), he deserves a happy ending, that's for sure!
The Palace had come to a stop with the sudden death of Crown Prince Raoul wife Princess Cecilia and the long time nanny. Rose had worked hard to get the reputation of a highly thought of and wanted nanny. But Rose had never worked with royalty before. Rose has been hired to be the nanny now by Prince Diego and can bring stability, joy, and hope back into the kid's life that had also been in the car accident but were not seriously hurt physically anyway after losing their mother and nanny Prince Diego was he spare prince and is a fun loving playboy when his sister in law dies. Prince Diego finds out about his sister in law’s death he feels he must return to the palace immediately to step up and help his older brother and father. Also make sure his four year old nephew Max and his six year old niece Emilia have what they need and also be there for them and do what he could to help them. Rose likes her privacy especially after she starts to develop feelings for Diego Diego has a big heart and rose sees that and draws her to him. The family also treats Rose like family than the hired help. Diego was conscious of his duty to his country and his family no matter what his reputation was But deep down Diego did want to see the kingdom prosper. Diego wanted more responsibility but his father nor his brother would give it to him. Diego soon finds he is also developing feeling for Rose. Diego.s brother wasn’t really stepping up for the kids in his grief so Diego does so why Diego hires Rose. Rose and Diego are keeping their feelings a secret from the king. And that bothers Rose as it could hurt her professionally and personally. Then a picture is taken of Rose and Diego and Rose has to decide if to leave or stay. But if rose left the kids would be hurt again.
This was an excellent story. I loved the plot and the pace and everything about it. I am not sure why Diego wanted to keep his and Rose’s relationship from the king. I was glad the king didn’t care what the people thought and supported Diego and Rose. I loved how Diego wanted to do more and really cared about the kingdom. And wasn’t just another rich playboy royal . I also loved how Diego steps up for the kids. I loved Rose and Diego together. This was a fun read after got through the beginning and the tragic deaths. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend. I wish I could rate this 4.5.
I enjoyed this book very much, Alward adds layers and dimensions to her characters and settings that up the enjoyment factor of her books, even her clean books
Prince Diego Navarro has come home to Marazur to aid his brother, the Crown Prince, cope with the loss of his wife in an auto accident. He's, also, determined to help his niece and nephew overcome their sadness and loss. He's hoping that the new nanny that he's hired can make them smile again. I loved this sweet story. Diego is called the Playboy Prince but he's really a responsible hard worker who is kept out of the family business. I wanted his father and brother to see that he's up to the task. It was touching to see him with the children. Who wouldn't fall for him? Rosalie is the new nanny. She makes her charges smile again. I liked that she has a strong bond with the children. What really pulled me into the story is the chemistry between Diego and Rosalie. Their interactions are both tender and romantic. I wanted these two to find their HEA inspite of the gossip and innuendos, Donna Alward has written characters that I cared about as well as a story that made me feel good and has some unexpected twists. I enjoyed this royal romance. I'm looking forward to Prince Raoul's story.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
Loved this sweet story. Rose is the new nanny after tradegy hit the royal family. Diego is the playboy prince there's an instant attraction between the two when they meet. Rose is hesitant to pursue a relationship due their status. Rose's uncertainty and someone trying to create a royal scandal puts Rose and Diego's relationship in jeopardy. Hope Raoul gets his story.
Yes, I totally wanted to read this story for the title. I mean who doesn't want to read about playboy prince who falls for a nanny. I mean it's a fairytale in the making. So, we have Diego Navarro who is the a prince to an island I believe. Anyway, he's the spare, which he gets to live his life the way he wants. However, he needed home after tragedy hits, and he decides take responsibility. Basically, he hires a young lady to become the new nanny after his sister-in-law and the children's nanny tragically die. Rosalie Walters (Rose) is hired and she falls in love with the children and also Diego. But she needs to remember her place, she's the hire help. However, Diego makes her forget that from time to time.
Okay, The Playboy Prince and the Nanny is a very sweet story about you guess it a nanny and a prince. It's a fairly easy story to get into. We have both Diego and Rose trying to do their duties when lines get a little muddy. Yes, Diego is trying to reform his playboy image, because he wants to prove to his brother he's more than a spare. Rose is trying to upstanding nanny that she is. Of course their is something fishy going on in the background, but you don't notice until Diego does something to save the families reputation. Overall, a very sweet read with close door romance scenes. So, if you are looking for a sweet romance that will warm your heart, The Playboy Prince and the Nanny is call your name.
