DNF. I did try, and went back to it a half dozen times before I gave up - I LOVE Ms Baxters other books in the series so I really wanted to give this a fair chance... but I could not get behind Sasha. She had great reasons to be the way she was, and I'm sure with a little more perseverance we'd get to the point that she lets down her guard and becomes likable - but I found it to be way too much work. I read for fun, to escape and to be entertained.

From the way The Wicked Vampire was pitched, it sounded like a standalone read. In some ways it was; however, it is set within a world already used in several other titles, and at times I felt that I was missing something in the background, with references to past events and characters. I liked the story premise of enemies to lovers. Nonetheless, the characters fell a little flat for me. I never came to care about them, and I think some of the trouble there was the irritating use of epithets, especially 'the male'. It got to the point where I could feel myself glowering every time it appeared. We know the character's name. Use it! There's a lot of description sex in this story. That doesn't worry me, but it did get a bit repetitive after the fourth or fifth time. Overall, although enjoyable to an extent, this story didn't grip me as much as I would have liked since the characters never leapt off the page for me. I could take it or leave it; however, if you are deeply into the sexier end of paranormal romance, and constant epithets don't worry you, you'll probably find something to love here.

The Wicked Vampire is certainly a good way to describe Sasha Ivanov.

Sasha is a very independent, wild, and strong vampire. She seeks excitement and danger. I love Sasha's wit and determination. She's willing to fight to protect what is hers, even if that person keeps pushing her away. Things can get pretty crazy when your mate is your enemy.

Ewan Brún is a deadly warrior. His kind has gone to war and nearly killed off every vampire. He feels more like a slave than a warrior. He fights in the underground arenas to save up money for his own freedom. What he finds in those arenas is completely unexpected. He frustrated me for awhile with how he treated Sasha, but given that they are naturally enemies, it's understandable.

Overall, the book is very good. It's the first book I read in the A Last True Vampire series, which made it confusing at times. It does make me want to go read from the start of the series.

The Wicked Vampire is a great story, this series just gets better and better. Here we have Sasha a vampire who has lost her soul so parties hard looking for thrills and excitement, when suddenly when attending a fight club becomes tethered (mated)to Ewan a ferocious fighter and berserker from a race that has been bred to kill vampires.
So begins a wonderful descriptive tale, full of action, thrills, sex and excitement. It romps along at great pace, no one will be disappointed with this book.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book.

I would give this 4.5 stars. Overall a great story, and kept my interest throughout. A little slow to start though, and took me a bit to get into the flow of the story. Once I did I enjoyed it though, and I have read the previous story, which I believe helped. Not needed, but recommend to keep you more informed of the surrounding story-line. This one has the vampire Sasha and the berserker Ewan as the odd coupling. Natural enemies naturally make for strange bedfellows, but it works here. I liked them together, and liked that the reader is able to see clearly what is in their minds. Too bad they have trouble communicating with each other, but that is part of the charm. Good story, and hope to see more with these characters in future books. Hope to see Drew get a break too, as I liked his character, as well as Lucas. Highly recommend this book and series.

Enjoyed reading The Wicked Vampire. Has well written and defined characters. Through I read this book as a stand alone. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I'd read the previous five books in the series, as the characters often mention pervious meetings mattings and conflict that was unknown to me. Would recommend to any one who enjoys paranormal romance.

This read is packed with action from the beginning to the end. The characters definitely don’t have a dull moment. The sexual sizzle between Sasha and Ewan is great. I would have liked to see their instant physical connection built up just a little more. I think I’d recommend reading the books in order. However, this is a stand-alone read. I don’t think not reading the previous stories takes away from the story, but I feel like a little more history may have been provided in previous books would have been great. This one was a great introduction to this author and I’m looking forward to reading the others in the series. The Wicked Vampire releases December 5th, 2017. Enjoy!

The Wicked Vampire by Kate Baxter is Book 6 of the Last True Vampire Series. While this book is part of a series, I have only read this one and had no issues in keeping up or understanding what was taking place. Ms. Baxter has a wonderful way with words and does a fine job of putting together an original storyline, building a defined world, and using engaging characters that we become whole heartedly invested. A must-read and definitely time for me to go back and get the previous books read!

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

It was an ok book and story. I think maybe I should have read some others in the series. I did enjoy it very much but it wouldn't be among my all time favorites.

I really enjoyed this book despite not being familiar with the author or the series. The world Kate Baxter created is complex and fascinating. Couple that with really strong and vibrant characters and it's near impossible to put the book down. I really want to read the series from the start to fully appreciate the one I just read. If this was a taste of the rest of the series then I'm going to be one happy camper by the end of this next week. I can't wait to get started.

I didn't know this was part of a series when I requested it and thankfully that was OK. This book stood alone though there were a couple of references to things that had happened in this universe's past but they were not integral to the story. While Sasha and Brun had great chemistry the story just did not grab me. I'm sorry to say that I did not finish the book, stopping at about 45%. Thank you for allowing me to preview this title.

This is the first book I've read but the sixth book in this series. I had no problem following along with the story, but I truly wished I had started with the first book. There were things mentioned in this book that I missed from not reading the previous books in the series. I enjoyed the characters, the storyline and the flow of the story a lot. There was never a dull moment in this story between the characters. The action started from the very beginning and lasted until the very last page. It left me wanting the next book in this series because there will definitely be more; there's still a lot of unresolved issues and problems between the characters within this story. I loved every moment between Sasha (a vampire) and Ewan (a berserker). Their sexual chemistry was off the charts and they had no problem with their sexual desires for each other. I will say that this was one hot read! As forbidden as their love was, they were so right for each other, they just had to realize that in their own time. I enjoyed this book a lot, and I plan on going back and staring this series from the very beginning because it was a great paranormal read. I want to know what happened in the previous books between some of the characters in this book, because this story and this series has a lot more going on than the characters just finding their mates. I recommend everyone giving this series a try but I would also recommend starting this series from the beginning.
