3.5 - "This is the most alive I've felt in centuries." Stars!

Book five in the Last True Vampire series, brings us newly turned vampire, Saeed Almasi’s story. This is a character whose POV has been present in previous books so, it was nice to finally get fully into the guy’s head.

IMAGE.

Sayeed’s story has been a long time coming, it you have read the previous books in the series, you will know that the recently turned Dhampir and now Coven leader has been struggling to control his dropping out conscious reality and into The Collective since being turned. The Collective is essentially the memories of all Vampires, which as a Vampire he now has access too, only problem being he keeps seeing woman he believes to be his mate, in other Vampires memories, each and every glance of her through the years just makes him yearn to spend longer locked in his mind to find out more about her.

He would find her. Because he had to. His soul, his very sanity depended on it…

That it until a certain little girl, who also has the ability to see into the future gives him a hint as to where she might be and who she may be with. Saeed promptly hands the control over of his Coven over to his two seconds-in-command and heads of to Seattle to find her.

"Yours is the only blood I thirst for. I will pierce no others flesh but yours…"

Cery’s Bain’s life for the last couple of thousand years, as essentially a soul-stealing enforcer for Mage Rin, has been less than pleasant, each and every time she is forced to take a soul for a debt unpaid to the Mage, she loses a little more of herself in the process. Problem is Rin also has her soul and until she finds out where he has it stashed she has no option but to follow his orders. That is until Saeed turns up, a Vampire in her city is rare enough, but one professing to be her mate… completely inconceivable.

"You offered…"

"I didn’t think you’d actually take me up on it!"

"You absolutely did. You simply hadn’t counted on enjoying it."

I loved the verbal sparring between these two, Saeed was a bit stiff and staid, while Cerys was more Twenty-first century, and I will be honest it was these interactions that kept me reading the book for the most part. Again Kate put together a well-crafted story, with multiple POVs (Siobhan, Christopher & Ian Gregor to name but a few) but the story contained in within the pages I personally think could have played out just as well if it had had a good hundred pages of unnecessary rambling taken out.

"Not that I’ve found you, I don’t plan to ever leave your side."

I think the other thing is that this is the first story in the series that felt like it didn’t really add much to the bigger picture overall, apart from Ian Gregor and the rest of the Berserkers appearance towards the end, and the unusual deal he struck with Saeed, nothing of real note has changed or moved on since the last book. The Whole Siobhan/Christopher situation is still being dragged out, and the story arc itself seems to have moved off of Mikhail and away the original Vampires completely, particularly if you take into account the next book; The Wicked Vampire being about Sasha Ivanov, who is one of the newly turned Vampires that Saeed left in charge of his Coven.

So many fates intertwined.

So many lives disrupted…

You are given her POV in this book, and having gone completely off the rails towards the end of it I am interested in seeing how the author ties her story into the bigger picture of everything going on, bearing in mind who her potential mate is I think The Wicked Vampre has the potential to be one helluva read! December cannot come soon enough.

I met Saeed in the previous book and he was heading out leaving his coven to two trusted friends.
Saeed knows his mate is out there and needs his help. And he needs to find his soul?
Cerys is a soul stealer and has been held captive for way to many years. However someone also has hers but who?
Well I can't tell you. You gotta read the book.

This one gives us a lot of action, mystery, and what I really enjoyed is this was not a insta-love between mates. I love berserker books and the author gives us those also which is a plus for me. I really hope to read the first 3 books in this series so I can learn everyone in more detail.

Overall: I enjoyed this book it was well written, and it gives that oomph of suspense and danger. The hot factor is ok. And there is a wide variety of paranormal creatures.

My first experience with Kate Baxter and I am glad that this is the one to start. Kate has created a world where Vampires are almost extinct and the drive to find their mate is known instantly when their "soul" is "tethered". But what happens when the mate doesn't have her soul? How will that affect the binding? Saeed and Cerys are both in need of help but it's the acceptance and determination that really drives their motives. It definitely did not go the way I was expecting, and so the surprise was amazing. I am so looking forward to now catching up on the others in this series.

I was hooked from beginning to end on this paranormal read. Saeed and Cerys are great characters and the chemistry they share is hot. The drama and suspense is fast paced as Saeed tries to save his mate from the mage that is holding her hostage and forcing her to steal the souls of other. Very entertaining read.

Saeed is a newly-turned vampire, after being a dhampir for centuries. He's struggling with the changes and is convinced he's not gonna survive...unless he finds the one person who is destined to tether his soul. Cerys is a fae with problems of her own....she's being controlled by a ruthless mage who is forcing her to do his bidding (taking the souls of people who have "wronged" him). Saeed knows Cerys is for him but she takes some convincing...plus the whole "she belongs to an evil mage" thing. Can Saeed save Cerys...while hoping that at the same time she'll save him? Read and see.
This is the 5th book in the series. It's considered a standalone but I do think you need to read the other books in the series to know who all the characters are and how they fit it this world (I haven't read them all and felt a little lost at times). Overall, I did enjoy this book and loved Saeed and Cerys as a couple.
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley. My opinions are honest and my own*

This is a great book; this is the fifth book in the Last True Vampire series and is written by Kate Baxter. Once one of the oldest dhampirs in existence, Saeed now faces a treacherously uncertain future as a vampire. He believes that the only thing that can restore his position within his coven and tether his lost soul is the flame-haired fae who is destined to be his mate. Cerys Bain is a soul thief. She is feared by those who dwell in the supernatural realm--and hopelessly bound to the ruthless mage Rinieri de Rege. The raw, sensual vampire who enters her world is both a threat and an intoxicating temptation: No one has ever made Cerys feel the way Saeed does. But to claim their fate as soulmates, Saeed must first find a way to free Cerys from Rin. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Oh how I revel in new vampire romance! Has anyone noticed that vampire romance has petered out a bit? Well Kate Baxter brings to life a new world with her Last True Vampire series. An interesting new take on a world were vampires have almost gone extinct and those that remain must regain their race's footing.

In "The Lost Vampire" we meet Saeed, a newly created vampire, who's on a mission to find the woman who's plagued his mind for years. Through a vampire collective memory (aptly named The Collective) he's seen memories of his true mate over and over throughout time. He's been entranced by her and finally, now mere cities away from her, he thinks he can find and tether her soul to regain his.

Unfortunately his one true mate, Cerys, is a soul stealer and through a tragic past has lost her own soul; leaving her unable to tether herself to Saeed in a way that convinces her of their true bond. Saeed and Cerys end up joining forces to stop not only the mage who has control of Cerys but of a deeper and more dangerous threat that has come after the entire vampire race. While fighting side by side, Cerys seems to fall more and more in love with Saeed. Where he knows she is his mate, he must convince her that despite her lack of soul (for the time-being) he knows in his heart that they are meant to be together.

I loved the whole world that Baxter created and I already had book 1 on my TBR shelf so I've wanted to dig in to this series before. And I am so glad that I did. Baxter's vampire world is reminiscent of Lynsay Sands Argeneau series in that she has created a new outlook on the history of supernatural races that isn't too convoluted nor is it too far out there to be unbelievable. I'll definitely be reading the first few books in this series but this was a wonderful start! I do recommend reading from the beginning. It can be read as a standalone but I felt lost at times when their were secondary character views that I didn't understand their significance.

This is the first book by this author I have read. It really didn’t grab my attention and took much longer to read than normal.

I felt lost while reading this book. I did not realize it was a series until after I requested it. I feel it cannot be read as a stand alone because at times I felt lost. Overall a good plot line, I just wished that I knew more about the characters before reading.

The Lost Vampire is the fifth book in the Last True Vampire series by Kate Baxter. This was a fabulous paranormal romance that easily kept me entertained until the end.

I really love this paranormal series and the intriguing world the author has created. I have loved every book so far and this one was no exception. Saeed was definitely struggling in the last book. He was right on the edge of insanity, but as this story opened, we find the beleagured vampire taking a soul searching journey to find his mate. Cerys is the one who can tether his soul but the powerful Fae is in big trouble herself. She is a soul reaper, hated and feared by all, and a hostage to an evil Mage.

I really loved Saeed and Cerys and worried they could never find a way to be together. The situation seemed fairly hopeless even before the author threw in some twists to complicate the plot. The writing was perfect and set up some future stories for other characters, as well. I always love it when that happens cause then I have something to look forward to later. I really liked how the author deviated on a few aspects and kept me guessing about the HEA for a while.

I loved everthing about this book / series and can't wait for the next book.

This is the fifth book in the Last True Vampire series and this can be read as a standalone with no problem at all.

Saeed is a powerful vampire that is on the hunt for the one destined to tether his soul. Cerys is a soul thief that's been enslaved by the ruthless mage Rin and forced to do his bidding for far too long. I loved how even though these two have all the odds stacked against them, they don't plan on giving up without a fight.

This is an amazing paranormal romance series that I highly recommend reading to everyone.

I think this is the best one yet. It surprised me because I honestly wasn't that interested in Saeed's story from what little pieces we got of him in previous books.

As much as I love the soul tethering these vamps experience when they find their mate, I really liked this one more since it didn't happen right away. Saeed's determination and loyalty despite not tethering showed his love for Cery to be stronger. I really liked how Saeed had to earn her love and trust first.

There is a lot going on in this series with so many characters and so many of them having their own agenda. It keeps readers on their toes and prevents boredom in the story line. But if you don't start at the beginning, it can be hard to get invested. I highly recommend starting with the first book.

I'm really looking forward to the next one. I believe it's Sasha and Liam's story next and the fact that the author paired a Vampire with their enemy, a Beserker, I can't wait to see how this is gonna play out and what it is going to do to affect the overall plot. ARC provided by NetGalley.

'The Lost Vampire' by Kate Baxter is the Fifth book in The "Last True Vampire" series. This is the story of Cerys and Saeed. I have read most of the of the other books in this series and I do feel that it helps if you have done so too. Although this can be a standalone, I just think you will understand the story better if you have read the previous stories.
Saeed is without his sole and he thinks if he finds his soulmate he will regain his sole.
Cerys is being held hostage by the mage Rin who uses her to steal souls.
But can Saeed rescue Cerys and will see actually be able to heal them both... exciting read for sure!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Really enjoyed reading this book!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I am really enjoying this series for the most part. At the end of the last book, I was pretty ticked off with Saeed so I was happy when he got a lot better here. When he takes his head out of the collective, he's actually quite a good guy. I especially liked the way he talked and acted. I thought him and Cerys made a good pair. She had basically given up on having a better life than the slavery that she was betrayed into having. When Saeed shows up, he shows her a lot in such a sort time and she quickly loses her heart to him. What I really liked was that this wasn't an insta-love here because Cerys doesn't tether Saeed right away. He spends weeks getting closer to her and getting to know more about her while slowly chipping away at her resistance.

When Gregor and some of his men come to that city, things picked up quite a bit. Some things that happened were predictable, but others definitely were not. In the end, I liked how it all went down.

Unfortunately, I hate what Sasha's character has become by the end here. I guess I can only hope that I'll end up liking her more with her own book like I did Saeed.

"The Last Vampire" series by Kate Baxter has become one of my favorite paranormal romance series. The enchanting world that Baxter has created, along with its unique characters and mesmerizing storyline- not to mention the steamy love scenes, has become truly addictive. A paranormal series with vampires is great, but when you add dhampires, werewolves, mages and fae to the mix, you have a series that you won't want to put down. In the last book we saw the newly turned vampire Saeed loose himself in the collective trying to find his mate. In this book we finally meet the fae with hair of flame and discover how truly one of a kind she is.

Saeed has been a warrior his whole life. He is a fighter and protector. He is also the leader of his coven. However, after he is turned into a vampire he keeps on seeing a red haired woman whom he believes to be his mate. He tries to find out everything that he can about her and in the process looses his mind. He finds himself lost in the vampire collective. So when Vanessa, whom we discovered is an oracle tells him to search for her in Seattle, Saeed leaves his coven in the care of two of his most trusted friends and newly turned vampires and leaves to find his destined mate. However, like every coupling in this series, there are many obstacles in their way, but Saeed is determined to fight them all in order to be tethered to his mate.

Cerys Bain is a fae with a very special talent. A talent that has made her a very valuable asset to Rinieri de Rege, a ruthless mage who has enslaved Cerys for centuries. Cerys is a soul stealer and is feared among the supernaturals for her special gift. Rin has stolen her soul with the help of another fae like Cerys. Cerys has accepted her fate and keeps on living not expecting anything more from life. That is until a dark and mesmerizing vampire enters Rin's nightclub and she feels that things are about to drastically change. Even though she finds it hard to believe that she can be anyone's destined mate, let alone a vampire's, she finds herself being drawn into him. But with a powerful and paranoid mage as a master and countless enemies that she has made along the way, will Saeed and Cerys be able to find peace?

Another wonderful addition to this beautiful series. Can't wait to see who the next couple in the series will be. I really hope that Siobhan and Christian's story will come soon as the sexual tension between those two has been simmering for a long time. Another possible pairing that I think is possible is Sasha and Lucas. I guess we just have to wait and see. I really hope that we won't have to wait too long!

Interesting book, that has a lot of tentacles spreading outward. A lot of references to things in the past, making me think this is part of a series. If so, it is the only one I read and I was not lost. This is the story of Saeed, a vampire from L.A. He goes to Seattle, searching for Cerys, his mate. She is bound as a slave to Rin, a mage, and so the games begin. Cerys' power is that she is a thief of souls, but each time she takes one she is closer to death. Saeed to the rescue. Good story for the most part, and kept my interest throughout. Some of the side stories threw me a bit, and cost a star, but basically enjoyed it and highly recommend this book.

Saeed is a Vampire who has lived centuries but now, due to the Coalition's memories streaming through his brain, he heads out on what may very well be his last conquest, to find his true mate.
Cerys is a Fae who has the dubious ability to collect souls. Unfortunately, because of that, she has had her soul stolen from her and become the servant of a vicious mage who has forced her, for centuries, to collect souls from people who owe him favors. Cerys knows that this is slowly killing her and fears that the next time may very well be her last. Saeed has found Cerys and insinuated himself in with the mage in order to protect his mate, whether she agrees to it or not. This is a heart pounding, sizzling HOT, non-stop read that I never wanted to end! I can't wait for the next one!!!
