This is a very topical thriller that focuses a spotlight on the struggle of returning vets. Charlie Henry can't seem to get away from trouble (this is the latest in a well done series). This time, there's a sniper on the loose in Albuquerque and he takes aim at Charlie and his buddy Nathan, who works with troubled veterans. Charlie, of course, along with his buddy Gordon, heads off into investigating what's going on- mostly without the help of law enforcement. IT's hard to write a review without spoilers, but trust me- Charlie is a man you don't want chasing you. He's determined to find the bad guy. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. You can read this without having read the earlier books. It's well written and thoughtful about the issues.
I have always enjoyed the Ella Clah series but for some reason I just can't get interested in this one. I can't quite put my finger on it whether it's the characters or writing, but thank you for the opportunity to try it
As an avid fan of the military and law enforcement, I always enjoy novels about them. And, as a former subcontractor for both the military and intel communities, it's often easier for me to spot realistic (as well as unrealistic) themes, plots and dialogue than for others without a like background. I enthusiastically recommend this book for its spot-on characterizations and believable story line. Great read!
