OH MY GODS, WHAT A THRILL. This was filled with twists that I never saw coming and it was absolutely brilliant. It wholly stands on its own, without the need to be compared to anything else.
This book really pulled me in, compelled me to read to the end as fast as I could. I thought the twists were well done and unexpected. Though I did think something at the end was too coincidental for me, and I would have preferred the story didn't use it.
It is typical to think of these types of thrillers as "beach reads", so I was happy to find myself with some time on vacation to soak this one up. I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery (no spoilers), and did find myself surprised by some twists and turns. For a thriller, it hit the marks. But my only complaint was that at the end I couldn't help but feel that it was a little unnecessarily complicated and there were some threads not tied up that nagged me. But I would much rather have a more complex book than a simplistic one. Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.
I was happy I think, but I wonder now if my memory is playing tricks on me. If it is giving me the gift of an illusion. We all layer them over our remembrances, the filters through which we want to see our lives.
I cannot give anything away but just this...there is a twist. Nothing is what it seems. It is calculated emotional baggage. A marriage that is an illusion of bliss but is actually controlled. A woman who does not know the trap she is in until she takes control. Is she insane or does she lose herself in the deceit.
A husband who has it all. Who is attentive, generous, but to what gain.
The narrative is engaging because you know enough until you know it all.
Marriage is never what it seems.
A Special Thank You to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Wow! What a wild ride. This is a well written, absorbing psychological thriller that keeps you reading and wondering. The twists are astounding. The one at the end of part 1 left me puzzled until finally there was a light bulb moment. The plot cannot be revealed in much detail without spoiling the story. Just heed the warning and don't assume anything.
I don't want to say too much in my review because I don't want to give anything away - but I will say this story was fantastic! Suspenseful, intelligent, well-written - a total must read!!!
Wowza what totally twisty goodness!! This one started out a slow burn then once it took off I couldn't stop listening! Twist after twist reveal after reveal, some I saw coming many I did not!
I will admit to being very confused for the 1st half of this book then the second half was a lot of
Wait What??!!?? What??!!?? OMG What??!!?? Ha this is a really hard book to review because I don't want to give anything away so I will just say hype is well deserved!
Julia Whelan's narration was as always amazing she really brought the emotion to these women and her voice never gave things away which is a talent in and of itself!
This one will definitely be on many lists for this year. I recommend this one!
Do you like twisty books where you can't tell who, if anyone, is telling you the truth? If so, GET THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY.
The story is told between Vanessa and Nellie. Vanessa's husband Richard just left her and she's trying to put the pieces of her shattered life together. She is depressed, on the verge of being an alcoholic, staying with her aunt and trying to not to get fired from her new job. Nellie, on the other hand, just fell in love with Richard and preparing to get married. Two women are linked by Richard- but is everything as it seems?
This was a very fun read. My mouth actually fell open at a few of the reveals. I couldn't believe it! The Wife Between us contains very believable characters that you find yourself rooting for completely. I was engaged in the plot from the first sentence until the last. This is the kind of book that will leave you with your head spinning and you'll love it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!
3 or 3.5 stars. Maybe I read this one too soon after "The Girl on the Train", but I think I need a break from domestic drama. This one had a nicely complicated plot with some very unexpected (for the most part) twists, but the characters. And the ending. I found the characters to be very frustrating or clueless, idiotic, or creepy (not all the same character). Where's the protagonist I can relate to and care about? Also, the ending didn't work that well for me: I think the authors should have stopped sooner. Too much wrapping up. However, I will say that the book certainly kept my attention and if you like psychological thrillers, you should definitely give this a try.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me a free e-ARC of this book.
I just could not get into this book, so have delayed writing my review. I really want to like the book as the description was engaging but I struggled to get past the first few chapters.
This is a very interesting spin on a fairly typical story: the romantic triangle. The author does a good job of keeping the reader guessing.
One of the many things I enjoyed about this book was the ending. It came out of nowhere for me and left my jaw on the floor; that's an awesome book in my opinion. Not to spill any details but, when the "truth" was revealed, it was totally unexpected. I honestly thought I had this book figured out and could guess what was going to happen, but was I mistaken. There were so many twists and turns and the plot of the story was beyond excellent. A really good read full of suspense and thrills.

I enjoyed this read up until about the last 10 percent. The book had really nice twists and turns in it and left me guessing waiting for something to hit. Then it did. The twist felt more like a small tornado . I was giving it a solid 4 star rating up to that point. Unfortunately, the author chose to put in another twist that felt odd, overdone and improbable and suddenly left me feeling "meh". That an envelope had been pushed for other reason than to simply push it.
Still... an incredibly solid novel as a debut. This is an author that will go on my watch list for future reads.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought I knew what was going on, but boy was I wrong! There are a couple of great twists along the way. The characters are richly portrayed and go much deeper than the reader initially thinks. Overall, this was was an immensely enjoyable psychological thriller that I would not hesitate to recommend.
Brilliantly plotted, suspenseful and engaging. The characters were real, and the twists moved the storyline. I couldn't wait to find out what was next!
I read a lot...always searching for the next good read. From the first page, I knew I had found one that would keep me up until I finished it. The story is an original, different from anything I've read before. I can't wait to see what they write next!
Wow! That is how I would sum up this book! I am usually able to figure out major plot twists early on, but this book got me every single time. There were multiple twists I didn’t see coming and the ending was perfection! This book is the perfect read for anyone that loves psychological thrillers!
The story’s cleverly written and the characters are all quite intriguing,There are so many twists in this plot and I wasn't ready for any of them..The Wife Between Us is SPECTACULAR! Featuring explosive twists, complex main characters, and stellar writing
THE WIFE BETWEEN US by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is a twisted and complex psychological suspense debut novel. This book had my head spinning and pulse racing! First of all, I have to admit when I started this book I had no preconception of what to expect from this novel. I was drawn in initially by the cover and the initial description of the novel. I really enjoyed the author's clear and vivid style of writing, and complex plot.
This is a story about marriage, secrets, lies, friendship, betrayal, manipulation, obsession and more.
A novel of suspense that explores the complexities of marriage and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.
When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement.
You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves.
You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
Assume nothing.
I really don’t want to go into detail about the plot, because with many psychological thrillers I think it’s best to go in blind, so do yourself a favor and just READ this book!
It's a story that makes you think that not everything is as it seems. It's frightening that someone's thoughts and actions could be so controlled.
The atmospheric setting, the overall storyline, were engaging and compelling. The novel was written in short chapters, which I find really moves the plot along at a good pace. There was an astounding plot twist that I didn't see coming, and the ending? It was brilliant!
Get ready for the read of your life.

Based on the book blurb I requested and was granted an ARC of this book by NetGalley. It took me a while to read this as I have so many books on tap but I wished I would have read it sooner. This was like a movie I was reminded of The Sixth Sense in the first part where I felt I was missing what was going on. The characters undergo a transformation from good to bad, from unhinged to cleaver and from unknown to unexpected. The story of Vanessa / Nellie, Richard and Emma was very well written and had you guessing until the end. I found myself rooting for Richard to becoming vary and afraid of his actions. Vanessa / Nellie had me screaming to let dog lie before she became another statistic and Emma was like a mouse caught in a trap (until the unexpected twist at the end). Very well written and very well executed. Would tune in to watch this on a television screen.
