My reading experience 2.5/5
This is a thriller so do not expect me to write was it is about....
I found the novel well writing and it has the suspense necessary for me to keep reading, I was always guessing what was going to happen next. Being honest I guested where the plot was going within the firsts chapter but there was a twist that made me keep reading.
I found it entertain but it didn't blow me away. I wasn't invested enough in the main character's motives, the way she tried to uncovered 'the true', her true and and one thing I won't accept a character attitude (or personality) justified by a drinking excess.

Definitely not what I was expecting. I've heard reviews saying that this is already one of the best books of the year and far surpasses Gone Girl and wondered what everyone was talking about it as I began reading. I wasn't too excited at the beginning, assuming it was one of the "scorned ex-wife/lover seeks revenge" books but it really wasn't. The first big twist doesn't come until nearly halfway through, and the remainder of the novel takes you on a wild ride.

Very well-written and what a twisty-mctwisterson middle section. A friend asked what I was reading when i was about halfway through and I couldn't even explain it. Not my new favorite book, but it was very nicely done.

This was a gripping thriller that left you guessing every step of the way, since nothing is as it seems. Great page turner.

Wow! Amazing! I could hardly keep up with the plot. it was very clever, very twisty and really unpredictable .Everything I look for in a thriller, I could not read it fast enough. It made me think and kept me guessing, very well written, I can't recommend it enough. Thanks so much to the Publishers and Netgalley for an ARC.

If you like suspense with a big twist that makes you question everything you've read, then maybe this book is for you.

Otherwise, steer clear.

I couldn't put this book down! The writing style draws you in and you just have to keep reading to see what's going to happen next! At first, you think you are getting to know this one character and then up pops another important one. There are several twists and turns throughout that keep the suspense building and I didn't even see the last twist until there it was! Never saw that coming one bit! Quite a lot of psychological twists and turns to keep you guessing!

This book that was just released was such a fun ride trying to guess what was going on!  A lot of books have been called "the next Gone Girl", but I think this one is the real deal.  I also think people who enjoy psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators will enjoy this one even more.  Because of all the twists and turns it is going to be hard to write about the book without giving away too much either.  Suffice it to say that rich, successful, attractive Richard has been married before and his ex is obsessed with her replacement.  As the story unfolds, the history of the marriage and several past secrets are revealed.  This story is interspersed with what is happening present day as Richard is about to get re-married.  Nothing can be taken for granted because nothing is as it appears, and I couldn't get through the book fast enough.

Well, this was a VERY interesting book! It takes the same old tale (husband, wife, mistress) and presents it in a very clever way. The first third of the story ends with such an unexpected twist that even though I’ve finished the book, l want to reread the beginning to make sure I understood it correctly! The rest of the book is pretty conventional but still contains surprises. I read this in 1 day, couldn’t put it down. A quick, fun, read with a unique start. Apparently, this might be made into a movie but I can’t imagine how the beginning would be filmed.!

Fanastic read!!!!!!!!!!! 5 stars!!! Fascinating and engaging. Big plot twist about 40% in. I had to back track. I thought I missed something. It was delish! I love it when that happens.

Plenty posted by now about the plot and characters. I will add that they are definitely unreliable. All of them. Vanessa, the ex wife who is more than obsessive about her ex- Richard. Beautiful, romantic, controlling Richard. He divorced her to be with Nellie. Nellie----young, beautiful, kind. Nellie appears to be the younger version of Vanessa. Vanessa is sick with envy! Her life in in ruins. She stalks both Richard and Nellie. They are all a little messed up. I'll go ahead and tell you that. Not your typical stalker story tho. Don't expect that!

Expect the unexpected! Nothing is quite what it seems.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a digital edition of this to read in exchange for a review. I can't wait for the next book by these talented authors. I hope there is one. There must be one!

Assume nothing.

So, of course, what do I do? Start making assumptions about what I know of the women in the book. I was thinking at first that she had schizophrenia or some other type of disease, but as the book progressed, it was quite obvious it was not going to be that simple (although that would NOT have been simple either). Nearly halfway through there is a lovely twist.

LOVELY.

I didn't see it coming. I had to think about what I just read and put together the clues to understand how it all worked together so seamlessly. There are many clues but I still did not see it. Not even close.

You know those scares in movies? The jump scares that movies have so much now? Here there are no jump scares. They are subtle, easy laid plans of clues. You can't even begin to put together the clues until you understand what is truly going on. Which the authors allow the reader to know about half way through. NOPE. I didn't see it coming. Had no clue at all, even though there were many. I just didn't realize.

After that first, major twist, the book starts it's denouement. It begins early because there is so much to go through with these women. They have to understand each other, and for the reader to understand them, takes a lot of work. It doesn't feel like work though, it's elegantly put together, and the clues left behind create a full puzzle of vivid color and creation.

I nearly got frustrated when there was yet another twist at the end, but I liked how it turned out. It made sense instead of it being a jump the shark moment. Jumping the shark is not needed here because there is so much to take in! I would love to see this on film. I want to see how they could combine all these moments and clues so I can actually see them instead of trying to organize them all in my head. It would be freaking brilliant. I'd watch it the first day it came out.

Obviously I'm a fan.

What did I just read?

This book was all over my Instagram and Twitter the last few weeks and I was intrigued when one of my favorite authors was reading it as well.

It’s been a long time since I have read a book like this one. A lot of people compared it to Gone Girl, but I thought it was better than that. Gone Girl for me was kind of meah. This one was better.

A novel of suspense that explores the complexities of marriage and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement.
You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves.
You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
Assume nothing.

Normally, I hesitate when it comes to books with two authors because I am always afraid that I will get two different writing styles and there will be holes in the narrative because of it. However with this book I actually thought that it could work really well considering that plot and description. And I was right, having two authors write this book was brilliant.

Full disclosure….I read this book any time I had a few moments to spare. I was completely hooked almost immediately. And the description was right….I made all kinds of assumptions. This is one of those books that I don’t want to give away too many details in my review for people who want to read it, but let’s just say, the description wasn’t lying when it said assume nothing. One reviewer put it best by saying go into it knowing nothing because that will give you the ultimate reading experience and I would fully agree with her observations!

This book has so much to recommend itself……for me the hook was the unreliable narrator. I love books where the reader is constantly on edge because we aren’t sure if the narrator is lying or not and with this book the authors executed it flawlessly!

The plot itself was cleaver and there were so many twists (many that I didn’t see coming) that had me on edge throughout the novel. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. I often found myself thinking ‘what am I reading?’ because it was so convoluted (in a good way) and full of so many different twists that I was completely compelled to read this book as often as possible. It was that good.

I haven’t read a ton of thrillers like this but hot damn if it wasn’t completely engrossing. I started another book around the same time as this one and quickly set it aside in favor of this so I could focus all my time and reading attention to this book.

If you have been wondering if this is a worth while read…..it is. And yes the hype around this book is worthy. It you love psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators and want something that is going to take you on a wild ride, or if you have been nursing your Gone Girl hangover for a few years……this is the book you need to read now because it’s better. It’s so wonderful and I loved everything about it.

I cannot praise this book enough and I wish I had words to describe how much I love this book. It pulls you in, leads you down a dark path, only to surprise you when you reach the bright light at the end of the journey. Sometimes love leads us into dangerous situations, making us blind to all the warnings. A must-read for lovers of thrillers and surprise endings alike.

I just finished reading The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. It will definitely keep your interest with all of it's twists and turns! Read it!!!!

This book is absolutely wonderful if you like twisted-up psychological thrillers. It's like an intricate portrait which, while watching the process, you see splashes of color that make no sense, until the end when every tiny detail comes into view and is woven together wonderfully. I suspected much but each section revealed a new surprise to me. It's such a rare event that I devoured the last 60% or so in one day. There is a bit of swearing and sexual content. Not a ton, but enough that I'd not feel comfortable with a young teen reading it. There is violence but nothing gory or overly graphic, just descriptive enough for story content. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this book but it's say mid-tween would be the lowest age bracket I could be comfortable recommending it to. Very much worth the read, jay make sure you have time to read that last half all at once!

I would like to thank the publisher, author, and Netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! So many twists and turns! It was so cleverly done, it brought me back to the "What??" feeling I had when I first read Gone Girl. I found it spellbinding and so addictive- I absolutely did not want to put it down. A must read if you enjoy psychological thrillers.

i really liked this book. i kept wanting to turn the pages (and i did, sometimes at 2 am... ) i didn't find that she had the characteristics of a stalker but as a victim. And then the epilogue... i did not see that coming. I usually dont read epilogues but i am glad i read this one. The story goes between the past and the present about Nellies (Vanessa's) life and pieces of her husband's (Richard). It went by quick. I could feel "edgy" when i was reading it.. I really liked this book and would recommend it !!

The Wife Between Us has been one of the most hyped thrillers of the last few months, and I can see why! This twisty novel has it all – mysterious pasts, affairs, divorces, and much more. There are lots of twists and turns throughout this book, and I loved them all!

I’ll start by saying that once I started the book, I had a hard time putting it down! I was immediately drawn into the story, and I’d fly through the pages because I was so immersed. The Wife Between Us is well written and gripping! Obviously going into the book, I had read the blurb (which is actually what I included above) so I had a lot of theories about what was happening, and I was actually correct about quite a few of them, but there were still a lot of things I missed! I think this book is best going in as blind as possible – I didn’t want to read any reviews that might give anything away, so aside from the blurb for the book, I didn’t read any reviews until after I’d finished, and I’d recommend doing it the same way! I’m sure it’s frustrating that I’m being so vague, but just trust me on this one! The less you know going in, the better your reading experience will be!

I really liked the characters in this book! None of them were perfect – all of them had obvious flaws, and in other books that has annoyed me, but in this book it worked perfectly. There were some characters I loved to hate, and some that I was rooting for!

One of the other things I loved about the book is the fact that it read like a movie. I was in suspense for so much of the book, and I was dying to know what events had taken place in the past that led up to the events that were happening in the present day, so I was so excited to read that The Wife Between Us has already been optioned as a film!

Overall, this is a fast paced, gripping, domestic thriller, and I’d highly recommend it to all fans of the thriller/suspense genres! I rated this one 5 stars (my first 5 star review of the year!). I’d like to thank St. Martin’s Press, Netgalley, and the authors for an advanced copy of the book. It was my pleasure to provide an honest review.
