Just completed The Wife Between Us and am in awe! Absolutely the best book I've read all year. WOW!

The Wife Between Us is the story of a Vanessa and Richard, recently divorced, and Richard and Emma, now engaged. The reader is taken back and forth through time to discover how dysfunctional the marriage was, and to introduce characters who help clarify the some of the reasons for the problems Vanessa and Richard faced.

This book is a page-turner, and is somewhat reminiscent of The Girl on the Train. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take the time to contemplate the characters, even after the book is closed. I loved it and would give it 7 stars if I could!

This is a great psychological thriller with so many twists and turns. It's so well written you are left wondering if the husband Richard with a wife and mistress is the bad guy or actually the victim.

It's so well written that you feel like you are there and that this could have been a true story. Could not put this book down! I recommend this book if you like scary thrillers!

Copy of this book was given by Betgalley and the publisher for a fair and honest review.

All the stars!!

It was the cover that first caught my eye. I loved it. And after reading the description for this novel, I couldn’t wait to read it.

As the book opens, a woman is unaware that someone is watching her. That someone is out to ruin her.

“She is oblivious to what I have done to her”

NELLIE can’t talk about the night that began with drinks and laughter, but ended with police and despair.

But now Nellie feels safe with Richard. He helps to keep the nightmares at bay. Richard is loving, caring, and protective. He has impeccable manners and seems to fit in anywhere and with anyone. Her friends and her mother wonder if he’s too good to be true….

“Her mother didn’t get it. Richard fixed everything. She’d be safe with him no matter where they lived”

But lately Nellie has been getting strange phone calls and sometimes it seems like she’s being followed. Richard tells her not to worry, but it’s starting to make her anxious.

Nellie had come to New York to escape.

She loves her job at The Learning Ladder. It’s where she met her best friend, Samantha. She enjoys working with preschoolers, although it can be hard dealing with their insufferable parents. They love to ask personal questions, like where she’s from. But Nellie is careful not to reveal too much about her past.

What happened to make her leave Florida? What is Nellie hiding?

Nellie doesn’t know very much about Richard’s ex. Just that they split up before he met Nellie. Richard really is the best thing that ever happened to Nellie.

“She’d always regret certain decisions in her life, but choosing Richard would never be one of them”

VANESSA is living at her aunt’s house. Morning is the worst time of the day because for a moment she can forget, but then reality comes crashing down around her. She imagines Richard and her replacement and what they are doing at that moment. Her aunt believes that Vanessa is the victim in all of this. But Vanessa wonders what her aunt would think if she knew the truth…if she knew what Vanessa had done.

She wonders if she’ll ever have peace….

“My regret is an open wound”

Vanessa now works as a sales associate at Saks. She waits on the wealthy women that she used to lunch with. Richard got the house, the cars, the money...everything. It’s like he wants to erase their relationship, to pretend like she never existed.

“I entered the marriage with nothing. I hadn’t worked. I hadn’t borne him children. I’d been deceitful. I hadn’t been a good wife”

It’s so easy to make assumptions. I was positive I knew what was going on but I was so wrong.

Like the book says…

“Assume nothing”

Who is telling the truth? Who can be trusted?

At first I found the beginning a little slow, but then I realized that the authors were trying to set the scene by giving some background. It wasn’t long before I was pulled into the story and the lives of these characters. I was so sure I knew were things were headed. I was in shock at the first twist, confused and thinking I read something wrong or missed a page. It was so unexpected ….but I loved it. I really appreciate when a story is able to blind side me like that.

“The Wife Between Us” is a twisted and complex psychological suspense novel. A story about marriage, friendship, betrayal, manipulation, obsession and more. A fast-paced and addictive novel that held my interest from start to finish. This story kept me on my toes guessing right up until the very end. I honestly can’t wait to read more from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

A very unusual written story. The reader is in the mind of the story teller or so it seems. The characters are very real and the situations are true- taken from today's headlines!. As we all search or wish for a prince we need to be carful what we wish for!

This book kept me up too late, till I literally couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, then made me late to work the next day because I had to finish it. It's a difficult book to review because I don't want to give up even the smallest spoiler. Suffice it to say, it's a must-read, with twists and turns and unreliable narrators. You think you know what's going on, but you don't. Then you realize you've finally figured it out - and you haven't. Don't hesitate to borrow or buy this novel and spend all night reading it.

This thriller seems like the usual jealous wife story, but do not be deceived as it will keep you riveted until the final twist at the end.
Vanessa leads a fairly mundane life, but she has a deep dark secret. She meets Richard and her life changes. Her best friend Sam calls him her prince and Vanessa certainly feels like a princess the way that Richard treats her. But is it the fairy tale marriage that it appears to be. Slowly we are drawn into the obsession and deceit and why Vanessa finds it necessary to start a diary that she keeps hidden away. Then Emma becomes Richard's new assistant and the fairy tale marriage starts to fall apart. Vanessa appears to be the jealous wife, but there is so much more. When you come to almost the end of the book you feel like you have finally figured it all out, then comes the final twist. This is one of those thrillers that will certainly keep you guessing until the very last page. I thank the publishers and Netgalley for giving me an advance copy for my honest, unbiased review.

Thank you to the wonderful St. Martins Press for sending me this book for free, In exchange of an honest review.

I don't even know where to start with this review. This book had so many twists and turns. Not once was anything on the straight and narrow. Once I had felt I had the characters figured out, I was totally blindsided. At one point, after the ending of part one, I needed to just put the book down, stop reading, and process what I had just read. I had to sleep on it, and gather my thoughts before I could read anymore. If I had continued, I probably would have been way to confused.

I really liked the main character, I liked her from the beginning of the book, all the way to the last page. The authors did such a fantastic job with character development, there was such a wide cast of characters, all whom came with traits that I both loved and hated. i had thought that I knew exactly how this book was going to end, and I was pretty disappointed that I had it figured out, and with just the turn of the page they kept it from becoming predictable. Which was so fantastic, as I read a lot of Domestic Thrillers/Suspense. So it was nice to read a book that kept me on my toes.

This was my first read of Greer's, and Sarah's, it is safe to say that I am a fan, and I hope to read more of their books in the future. If this book is any inclination to how well the write, that I am itching to read more.

If you liked Gone Girl, you will love this book. The number of twists and turns this book had kept me guessing the whole time. It is hard to write this review without giving too much away.

It starts out where you meet Nellie, who is about to get married to Richard and Vanessa who was recently divorced from Richard. You hear their stories of their lives and how they got to the point where they are now. About half way thru is the first major twist. I actually had to go back to the beginning and read the first part again as well the the previous chapter to make sure I hadn't missed something. Because what you thought was true, may not be.. or is it.

The authors wove the story together seamlessly. You would never know that this was written by two people.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots of surprises to the story that you aren’t expecting. Mystery that you just can’t possibly figure out until they reveal the ending. Didn’t want to put it down. Enjoyed it a great deal.

An entertaining book that kept me guessing throughout. The first half of the book sets up the many questions in this mystery about Richard and the women in his life: Is he a victim or a tormentor; or is it possible that he could be both? The second half is when this tightly woven story starts to unravel and slowly answers are revealed until the very end. This is one of those books that I would enjoy twice, first going in blind and a second time to catch all the little details that become clear once you have all the answers.

Everyone has been raving about this book and even claiming that this could be *THE BOOK* of 2018 as far as psychological thrillers go. I will say that I did read it quickly as I wanted to see how it all played out but it didn't come without flaws. I found the narrative in the first part of this book incredibly confusing even though I didn't realize that until the 2nd part started and I'm like WTF is going on. I had to go back and re-read / skim some chapters to figure out what was actually happening so, unfortunately, that did detract from some of my enjoyment of this novel. I find the more twists a novel has the less believable it becomes and this book may of had one too many twists for my particular liking.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Plot was not unique, but it was smart and well-written. I enjoyed reading on to find out "what happens next." I especially liked the way the authors tied all the loose ends together.

LOVED this book.

A tense physiological thriller that keeps you in suspense throughout.

The first and final plot twists in particular caught me completely off guard in the best way possible. I'm pretty sure there were audible gasps.

Hooked from the get go I read this in one sitting. It's definitely a book that will get people talking.

Thanks to NetGalley, St Martins Press, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I seriously love this book. At the start of the story, I actually thought this book would be same like other books. But, it is really different. Seems every time I made up my mind about the story, the author turns in a surprise. There is a surprise at the end of each part. I love how the story blends in and makes the audience waiting for more.

Kudos to the author for making us holding to our seat...

Expect the unexpected because nothing is quite what it seems.

It was just a mediocre read for me. I was interested in it to begin with because Sarah Pekkanen was a co-author. The book is broken out into 3 parts. upon reading the first part, it felt like the end. Then, broke out into 2 more parts that become so criss-crossed between flashbacks and character flashbacks, that I just wanted it to be over.

From the beginning it felt as if the story line and the way it was written was very similar to that of Liane Moriarty. (Whom I happen to love.) Had I not read almost all of her books, then this one may have been rated higher. But I just couldn't get past feeling like I was re-reading the same story with different character names in a different city.

I read it in under 48 hours, so if you are looking for something quick, this fits the bill. It's worth a read if you love chick-lit suspense. I would recommend it overall, just not as a priority read

I'm always up for a good thriller. They captivate my attention when it has been pounded by life's daily tasks, or by such cleverly written books that I am hungry for something especially plot driven.
It's a little disconcerting, halfway through this novel, to find that the narrator named Nellie, and the narrator named Vanessa, are one and the same. At first I thought they were terribly similar women, each giving an account of being married to Richard, who frankly, sounds like the husband in Sleeping With The Enemy.

He is rich, and elegant, and controlling, and not quite the man they think he is with etiquette that has been manor-born. No, he is self-taught in how to excel in both business and style. He seems too good to be true.
So if Vanessa and Nellie are the same, who is this girl Richard is planning to marry? She is some heart-faced, shapely assistant, whom Vanessa follows and tries to warn. The only thing is, Vanessa seems less than credible.
She drinks too much. She is unable to appear with regularity at Saks where she works in the clothing department. She seems too emotionally laden to string two coherent sentences together. She is utterly unreliable.

But her replacement, the assistant named Emma, isn't all she pretends to be either. Even Richard's sister, Maureen, has implications in Vanessa's story.

It is a book intricately wrought, with revelations that come in due time without making the reader feel manipulated, or tricked into a sudden convenient ending. The authors have shown how the people we are today come from the people we once were; that life is a direct result of the decisions we have made.

Even those decisions we regret.
