It was just a mediocre read for me. I was interested in it to begin with because Sarah Pekkanen was a co-author. The book is broken out into 3 parts. upon reading the first part, it felt like the end. Then, broke out into 2 more parts that become so criss-crossed between flashbacks and character flashbacks, that I just wanted it to be over.
From the beginning it felt as if the story line and the way it was written was very similar to that of Liane Moriarty. (Whom I happen to love.) Had I not read almost all of her books, then this one may have been rated higher. But I just couldn't get past feeling like I was re-reading the same story with different character names in a different city.
I read it in under 48 hours, so if you are looking for something quick, this fits the bill. It's worth a read if you love chick-lit suspense. I would recommend it overall, just not as a priority read

I'm always up for a good thriller. They captivate my attention when it has been pounded by life's daily tasks, or by such cleverly written books that I am hungry for something especially plot driven.
It's a little disconcerting, halfway through this novel, to find that the narrator named Nellie, and the narrator named Vanessa, are one and the same. At first I thought they were terribly similar women, each giving an account of being married to Richard, who frankly, sounds like the husband in Sleeping With The Enemy.
He is rich, and elegant, and controlling, and not quite the man they think he is with etiquette that has been manor-born. No, he is self-taught in how to excel in both business and style. He seems too good to be true.
So if Vanessa and Nellie are the same, who is this girl Richard is planning to marry? She is some heart-faced, shapely assistant, whom Vanessa follows and tries to warn. The only thing is, Vanessa seems less than credible.
She drinks too much. She is unable to appear with regularity at Saks where she works in the clothing department. She seems too emotionally laden to string two coherent sentences together. She is utterly unreliable.
But her replacement, the assistant named Emma, isn't all she pretends to be either. Even Richard's sister, Maureen, has implications in Vanessa's story.
It is a book intricately wrought, with revelations that come in due time without making the reader feel manipulated, or tricked into a sudden convenient ending. The authors have shown how the people we are today come from the people we once were; that life is a direct result of the decisions we have made.
Even those decisions we regret.

The Wife Between Us was an enjoyable read. It had a few well plotted twists, but was not the epic psychological thriller I was hoping for. If you liked The Lying Game, I'd give it try. However, be prepared for some lags in the narrative.

3.5 Stars
The Wife Between Us was only an okay read to me, and it seems I am a minority in this. I guess I went in with high hopes, which in itself is a bad way of going into any book. I may have enjoyed it more if maybe there was a third POV.
It started off a bit slow than it picked up and as I was getting into it midway, somewhere along the line it ran out of steam for me.
It was very well written and the story-line was engaging but it just wasn’t the book for me. I cannot pinpoint where it fell short for me personally, possibly because I found myself reading just so I can finish it and start something else and when it concluded I was disappointed of how it all wrapped up. Usually a thriller would leave me with “WOW” but this left me more with, well… there goes that.
As I mentioned, unpopular opinion here so don’t let it deter you from giving it a go.

I received an advanced copy from Netgalley in return for an honest review.
My rating would be 3.5
"The Wife Between Us" is a suspenseful thriller about a husband and wife at the end of their marriage, they are divorced and he is ready to remarry but their lives are still very much entwined. The Thompson's are a wealthy couple who on the outside had it all but below the surface their marriage was wrought with deception, manipulation and violence. So, why after the divorce is finalized is the "crazy" wife stalking the new fiancee? I do not want to give away much of the plot away, since this story is loaded with twist and turns and (mostly) unexpected reveals. The beginning is a little confusing at first but will unfold as you continue reading. I saw a few of the plot points coming but a couple I did not, my favorite being the second to last. Enjoy this thriller and expect the unexpected.

If there were more stars to rate this book I'd give it a 10++. Wow...what a FANTASTIC debut novel. It will keep you riveted to the story & the characters until the last page!

Warning, spoilers ahead...
3.5 star read rounded up to 4 because it was a quick, enjoyable page turner. There were many twists, some which worked better than others. The Vanessa/Nellie twist and the way Vanessa wove herself out of Richard's web was clever. I also thought the way Vanessa fell into Richard's trap and the kind of abuser he was rang true and was much more realistic than, say, the husband in Behind Closed Doors.
Parts didn't work quite as well for me - the Emma reveal and the therapist reveal. There were very few clues leading up to who either of these characters really were and it all just seemed extra and unnecessary. I felt the same way about Maureen 's character - not only was her explanation of Richard's childhood unnecessary - at this point the reader does not crave an excuse - but her weirdness with her brother, the rings, the ownership also came out of nowhere.
I enjoyed the fast pace of the book and would not have minded more pages dedicated to clues about the ending, which felt a bit rushed.
Thank you Netgalley for this copy in exchange for an honest review!

I am unsure how to give a synopsis when anything I say may contain spoilers. Is this about a jealous ex-wife who cannot abide by the idea of her husband moving on with a younger woman? Is she dangerous? What I can tell you is that there were a few points in this novel in which I said, out loud, "Wait, what?". If you enjoy exploring the secrets in a marriage, twists and turns, and people's hidden motivations, The Wife Between Us is for you.

The Wife Between Us is a sneaky story. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, everything changed. I felt off-balance the whole time I was reading. Nellie, Vanessa, and Emma swirled around and took their time revealing themselves and the truth. The Wife Between Us was an eerie and compelling read that I had a hard time putting down.

Wow!!! This is a very well written, complex story. You won't know what is what & who is who until the end. Definitely a page turner that you won't want to miss!!
A husband, a fiancee, & an ex wife. It's up to you to discover the story behind love & marriage!!

I really enjoyed reading this book. It has great realistic characters and lots of surprise twists and turns with a ending I never saw coming. The story takes place in New York city and the author does a great job describing the nuances of the Manhatten area. The main characters are a married couple who seem to have everything but as usual things are not always the way they appear. There are several issues that seem to be impossible to resolve so the wife decides to do some very unconventional plotting. I don't want to give anything away but I would highly reccomend this book it definitly deserves a five star rating.

I enjoyed this book immensely and found it suspenseful. At first, I was confused, but I believe the confusion was deliberate and very clever. If you get confused, as I did, stick with it, you will be glad you did. The story is so worth it! There are several WTF? moments and those were great. I don't want to give too many details, although the storyline is in the title, I don't want to spoil the fun. That being said, I will remember this book, for the style of writing - deliberately confusing me - the storyline and the WTF? moments. At the end, the story comes together nicely, leaving you satisfied.

3.5 stars. The Wife Between Us the first book that I have read by these authors so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a well written women's psychological thriller. It is a standalone. There is some domestic violence described.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. This was well written and the authors impressed me with their ability to create the psychological suspense in the storyline to keep you reading. As usual, everything and everyone is not as it seems. This book has twists, turns, and surprises...right up to the very end.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Random House/Ballentine. I chose to write a review for other readers.

What a page turner. After reading the description of the book I didn't know what to expect. It seemed so simple, the plot seemed to unfold right before my eyes. Similar to other books, but in the back of my mind I knew something was different, something didn't quite make sense. Everything you thought you knew was turned upside down. About the time you thought you had it figured out again, it turns upside again. All the was to the very last pages.
I really enjoyed the book. It was suspenseful, it was fast paced, it was just wonderful.

First off I want to thank NetGalley for offering me this ARC and the authors for writing such an amazing story. This was quite a thrilling book to say the least.
This is the kind of story where you think it’s about one thing, but it’s actually about this other thing, but wait, not even that thing, it’s more about this thing over here. It’s hard to even describe the plot here, except for maybe saying marriage troubles, divorce, and exes and a lot of secrets. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with this book. Absolutely a 5 star read and I cannot wait to see what other books come from these authors in the future.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Perkanen.
4 Stars.
This will be a big success.
I would put this book in the category of Psychological/Suspense Thriller. The authors take you down a path and at the last second your going in a different direction. Wow, what a ride!!
Don't want to give anything away and spoil it for the next reader. But if your looking for a entertaining book that will keep you guessing...this is for you.

The Wife Between Us was incredible. I could not put it down. It is one seriously wild ride. I had a hard time trying to figure out who was the crazy one ! Lots of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book ! It is a great read !

Ohhhh wow!
The ONLY reason this book is getting 4 stars is because the "big reveal" is poorly timed.
Other than that this book is phenomenal. With a twist at the very end you just don't see coming.
From the very beginning I was skeptical about Richard. Everything about him rubbed me the wrong way.
Nellie made me want to punch a wall, in the beginning. She portrays the naive little girl all too well, but I quickly fell in love with her as a woman. Her strength, courage and honesty are endearing.
I felt similarly about Vanessa, her "woe is me" BS got really annoying really fast, but she too grew on me.
The epilogue, while totally out of left field (sorta) is probably my favorite part of the entire book.
Very very well written. I'm hopeful for a follow up book!

Wow! This was everything it promised to be. Suspenseful, thrilling, and with so many twists & turns you don't want to put it down! I had been in somewhat of a reading rut and this definitely brought me out of it.
Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of this ARC.
