Un-freaking-believable. My favorite of the Renegade series. Rebecca Yarros outdid herself with this book and I am so very saddened that the story ended. I seriously wanted more, didn’t want it to end. Penna and Cruz are, undeniably, my favorite book couple of the year.

Penna is still dealing with the fallout from her sister. Not from the Renegades but in her own head. She is blaming herself for her sister’s actions. She had to find out if she could still be with them, if she had it in her to pull off the stunts and still stay true to herself. Then she meets Cruz, has no idea who he is but gets him to help her pull off a BASE jump that could land them both in jail.

Cruz. I think I swooned with the first words out of his mouth. He was one confident man. Not cocky but confident and it showed right from the beginning. He has one weakness that could bring him to his knees. But after meeting the beautiful Penelope, he knows he now has two. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect the two people that mean the world to him and to help his grandmother. Yes, a man with morals, heart and a protective streak a mile wide. How could you not love a man that has served his country, worked to get his Doctorate and still does the dishes right alongside his grandma.

So much happened throughout this story with both Penna and Cruz and they were both right there to support and love each other. The way the love story played out was beautiful. Cruz treated Penna like a porcelain doll until she put it stop to it … treated her with respect when the need arose … treated her just like any other student. We saw Penna go from insecure to fearless (again) with the love and support of Cruz. She found a way for them to be together. She found a way to help him when he didn’t want the help. She found a way to bring him home to her. She was strong, daring and unstoppable … all because of Cruz.

You will fall in love with Cruz. I promise you. Rebecca Yarros really brought this story to life. The people, the places, the stunts were all beautifully described. From Machu Picchu to Buenos Aires to Cuba … the sights and sounds of each port came alive. The love between Cruz and Rebel was a living, breathing entity in itself. And, the ending … oh, wow … it gave me chills, it made me cry, it brought me to my knees. She had me singing “Up Where We Belong” in my head for hours after finishing the story. Then she gives us an Epilogue that brings this series full circle, brings closure and again, made me cry. Rebel was an epic love story that just happened to have an “X-Games” feel. If you haven’t read Rebecca Yarros before, you have no idea what you are missing. Her writing is flawless, her characters are intoxicating, her stories are incredible.

Big fan of this author but this book just didn't work for me. I was not a fan of Penna in this one which was totally my fault cus my idea of her and how she was written in this book just didn't mesh.

4.5 Stars!

I love this series so much and I'm sad to see it end but Rebel was such a perfect ending to the series!

I really loved these characters. I’ve loved Penna throughout the series and I’m so happy we finally got her book. Cruz was a character that I immediately liked. He was funny and charming and there was just something about him that intrigued me. I thought their relationship was paced well after the intense way they met. I felt the tension build as the story went on and they both had to deal with their circumstance. Cruz and Penna had great chemistry and were 100% perfect for each other.

Of course, we couldn’t have Rebel without the other Renegades making an appearance. The story wouldn't have been as good as it was without the secondary characters as they bring another layer of depth to the story and bring tales of adventure and emotion. I really loved how all the characters interacted with each other and helped bring this story together.

This was such a great ending to the series and I’m honestly going to miss the Renegades.

I adored this continuation of The Renegades series. The books are full of action and adventure, the romance is top notch, but my favorite part is the little family community these friends have created. They look out for each other and challenge each other, it is the perfect blend of shelter and support.

My favorite Rebecca Yarros book has been “Full Measures” since I found it about in March of 2014. It was the first book of hers I read, and it made me fall in love with her writing. Since then, I’ve read all her books. There’s not one I wouldn’t re-read. But “Rebel” might just knock “Full Measures” off the first place podium!

This is the third book in her “Renegades” series. Each can be read as a standalone book, but you really do have a more full reading experience if you read them all in order. I actually had this in my Kindle for almost a week before I read it. I had to wait until I had several uninterrupted hours before I could start this book because I knew once I started, I wouldn’t want to stop until the end. And oh boy… was I right!! I DEVOURED this book in about 5 hours!

“Rebel” is part extreme sports, part romance, and part a coming into your own story. Penna (aka “Rebel”) is struggling to find herself again after a fairly life altering injury. She’s also struggling to come to terms with the cause of the accident that so severely injured her. One crazy night in Las Vegas and Cruz enters her life. He’s older and sees all of her. Not just Rebel. Not just Penna. He sees Penelope. This is their story. And there’s SO much to their story.

“Rebel” seriously gives you ALL the feels! Rebecca delivers the ups and downs of a “forbidden” romance, the ins and outs of people desperately trying to figure out who they are and what their futures should look like, and just a tad of suspense thrown in just to keep you turning the pages, instead of putting the book down! Honestly, this story pretty much blew me away. Besides the romance, there’s the side story of Cruz himself that Ms. Yarros slowly builds and reveals. And that, my friends, is the part that blew me away. I can only imagine how much time she spent researching for this part of the plot. And ladies… Cruz is the most swoon-worthy character of all of her male characters yet! (Sorry Josh… there’s a new man in town!) He’s hot (that’s a given), determined, loyal, and loves his sister and grandmother fiercely. He’s determined to make the best possible future for them, even if it’s at his own expense. And then he does the same for Penna. Check out this Cruz quote:

“You are a headstrong, independent, stubborn woman surrounded by a sea of boys, when what you crave—what you need—is a man. One who isn’t going to hold you back but isn’t afraid of you, either. One who knows the delicate balance between watching you fly and protecting you, so you don’t fall. Hell, I’m not sure any of those boys would even know what to do with you if you ever let them get their hands on you.” (GAH! Seriously people … how awesome?!)

But Cruz isn’t the only one in this relationship willing to give 110%. Rebel gives as much as Cruz. She’s literally willing to risk it all (more than once) for her man. Cruz sums her up so nicely:

“Knowing that a woman that fierce was willing to risk it all to ask in the first place nearly took me to my knees. Everything about Penelope was my undoing. It was like she’d been created specifically to torment, tease, and utterly enthrall me.”

And the references to “An Officer and a Gentleman” are epic!

If you like contemporary romance, I honestly believe you will LOVE this book!

“Rebel” is a fabulous end to The Renegades series that wraps it up in an amazing way. This is definitely a 5 star read!

I swear everything Rebecca Yarros writes is just pure gold. Rebel was utterly fantastic. This had an element of the taboo, plenty of stunts and action, and a couple that just tugged at my heartstrings. The story was full of twists and turns along with cringe worthy moments and moments that I cheered out loud.

Penna has earned her nickname rebel. She’s strong, rebellious, and fearless. That is until an accident shakes her foundation. I loved the dichotomy of her strength and vulnerability. Cruz is strong, determined, and a survivor. I loved the connection between them. The tenderness he exhibited with the vulnerability that only he seemed to see. The chemistry was also smoking hot. There were so many layers to these characters that I felt like I was peeling an onion back (tears included) each layer at a time, each chapter at a time. The secondary characters were just as well-developed and we got to see the crew from the first two books as well.

There was some drama, that’s to be expected with a student/teacher romance. There was the added tension of the stunts the Renegades were pulling, culminating in their greatest stunt ever. I was alternating between being on the edge of my seat to curling under my covers with a cup of tea. I was fully immersed and completely enchanted with the story.

If you haven’t tried a Yarros book yet, this series is a great one to start with. If you’re a xtreme sports fan, it’s a must.

This book is a standalone, but if you haven't already read Wilder and Nova, which are also great, I highly recommend starting with those, because you'll enjoy little details of this book even more. On to my review...

This book is amazing! I think Penelope is my favorite of Rebecca's heroines. I absolutely loved that she is strong, smart, beautiful, and holds her own with the guys from the Renegades. I mean, she has an X Games gold medal from an all-male sport. She immediately realizes that Cruz is not the typical hot guy in a bar when she asks him to BASE jump with her and he agrees, and my heart hurt so much when they left Vegas without getting a proper goodbye. Penna hasn't been herself since an accident in one of the previous books, and she is trying to figure out whether she even wants to continue as a Renegade. Her friends are too wrapped up in what they have going on to really see how far she's retreated, but she lets Cruz in, even though once they find out he's her professor, they try to stay away from each other.

Cruz has a specific reason for having wanted to be on the ship, and I really appreciated that it was explained to Penelope quickly when it came up, so there wasn't a huge fight about it. There are plenty of other situations to keep their relationship on its toes.

I am so glad that this book has an awesome ending, and the epilogue caps off the series in a great way. I'm going to miss the Renegades, because they had some epic adventures on the way to falling in love!

Cruz and Penna are two people who shouldn't be together, but they can't stay away from one another. He finally has the career and means to help his mom and sister and she is his student, which would lose him his job. Once they start seeing each other, they agree to keep it a secret. The best laid plans always seem to fail and they are found out.
There is enough excitement revolving around his sister that I kept turning the pages. I had never read anything by this author before, and now I want to read the rest in this series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Penna and Cruz are fire!! I love them! And Cruz!! OMG!! This will be a book I need to hear in audio I think just to hear his Cuban accent as he's talking. I love the Renegade books and will definitely be one-clicking as the series continues!!

After the events from Wilder and Nova (read them if you wanna know), Penna is rightfully frightened of getting back on a bike. She needs to find her rebellious spirit that she had as being a Renegade Original member.

Cruz (Dr Delgado) has worked hard for his PhD. He's spent years working his way through school to get his degree and help his family. What he didn't count on was Penna and how much she fascinates him.

I really enjoyed this series.! I loved how Rebecca has written something new into a series. Sometimes reading romance gets repetitive because a lot of the storylines become similar. But...she has outdid herself with this series and the uniqueness of it!

Grab them all!! Start at the beginning and get lost with The Renegades!!

4.5 stars!! This will have your heart racing!!

This is the third book of The Renegades series. Here's hoping there will be a fourth book for Nick's story.

We've already seen Pax fall in love and Landon re-connect with his lost love, so now it is Penna's turn. And oh my - Cruz is scrumptious.

Penna has always lived up to her nickname "Rebel", but life has thrown her a few curve balls recently - she was seriously hurt in Book 1 and her sister was the cause of some serious trouble and is now in jail. Although you don't have to read them in order - you'll get so much more out of them if you start from the beginning.

So Penna aka Penelope aka Rebel has been recovering and is trying to get her groove back - cue Cruz stage right. They meet in a bar in Vegas and sparks fly. Oh my - the chemistry is out of this world. There's only one problem - Penna is at a Study at Sea program and Cruz is aka Dr. Delgado, her new professor.

So needless to say - things get complicated. Then they get good. Then they really get complicated and you don't know if this will all work out.

I really enjoyed the story. Although I did feel that their viewpoint of their relationship and going public as soon as they were off the ship wasn't really realistic for someone in the teaching profession who is dating a sports celebrity.

However, Penna is a nice strong female character. Pax and Landon are as lovable as ever and we get more of Nick this time around, so the original Renegades are back together. Cruz is definitely book boyfriend material despite the teacher/student romance which starts before all that, so not nearly as bad, right?!?

The epilogue was awesome and will bring a smile to your face. You don't want to miss out on this series or really any of Rebecca Yarros' books!

Phew, what a read!

Rebel is a fantastic ending to one heck of a series--pretty much non-stop stunts, action, romance, and a huge dose of OMG international drama toward the end, just to keep us on our toes. Penna and Cruz--what can I say?--they're a great couple. I'm not usually a fan of the teacher/student romance, but these two make it work (the fact that they're both of legal age and knew each other, albeit briefly, first helped somewhat). Sure, they just about gave me a heart attack with all the chances they kept taking, but they took responsibility for their actions and everything--eventually!--worked out in the end.

Aaaand--what an ending! There might have been a few tears over here when a classic movie reference was brought to life--seriously, I'm not sure when I've ever read such an absolutely perfect grand gesture moment.

I can't wait to see what Ms. Yarros has for us next!

Sometimes the most incredible books are the hardest reviews to write.
Sometimes a book effects you so much that you simply cannot put into words what it meant to you.

Rebel is one of those books.

It was exquisite, emotional and heart wrenching. Every word Rebecca Yarros writes feels like a gateway to my heart and soul.

I fell in love with Penna aka Rebel aka Penelope from the first moment she appeared in Wilder. She's the type of girl that shatters stereotypes and expectations put on her, the type of girl who inspires and the type of girl that every girl should want to be when she grows up.
I'm actually really disappointed that Penna isn't real cause I'm pretty sure we'd be best friends!

Rebel blew my expectations out the window of how incredible it was going to be. The writing was emotive. The plot was phenomenal and suspenseful. The characters were incredible and inspiring. The setting was stunning. Rebel the character and Rebel the book were flawless. While Wilder still holds the coveted number 1 spot in my heart, Rebel is a very close second.

One of the most incredible parts of Rebel was the character development. I love an angsty story with angsty characters who develop as the story does. Rebecca Yarros writes complex characters full of pain and angst and always manages to develop them in perfect time with the development of the story. Rebel started with a very broken Penelope Carstairs who felt like she could no longer identify with who the world thought she was. But the very first chapter of Rebel gives you so much insight into how complex her character is.

Rebel is my favourite type of story, one that pulls at the heart strings and makes you FEEL. Inspires you, pushes your boundaries and makes you feel like a better person just for having read each word.

I highly recommend Rebel to loves of Angsty Sports Romances. But I would suggest reading Wilder and Nova before reading Rebel!

Rebecca Yarros slam dunks another adrenaline-thrill Rendgades novel. I was hooked in the first ten pages. Wasn't sure what to expect from the one Renegade girl known for extreme stunts who's on the recovery after an attack in the last novel (from her sister). What's amaze-balls about this book is the balance between Penelope's (Penna) need for the adrenaline craziness of motorbike/base jumping/ or whatever insane stunt she'd doing and her inner falling apart. Done quite well.
Enter Cruz, hottie hot of Cuban hotness, who in the first chapter sees Penelope needs him and does a seriously stupid stunt with her. He becomes off limits as her teacher. I'm not a fan of teacher-student relationships and even though I think the author did a great job with this I still got a bit of the willies over it. What's nice is establishing the characters as having a solid connection before they realized they were teacher-student. The being found out might be inevitable, but it's what happens afterward that is worth the read. Seriously, grab this book. Who cares if you missed the others. This one's a winner.

Okay, where do I start? For the most part, I loved this story. But that's no surprise because I love all of Rebecca's work. She's an incredible storyteller.

I had been looking forward to reading Rebel's story since she was first introduced and her character is everything I thought she would be and more, so much more. There are layers to that girl and reading through and about each one made my heart race.

I loved her relationship with Cruz and reading more about her relationship with her family and the Renegades.

This series is over, but I'll be rereading them all again soon.

As an "original" and a female in the Renegades crew, Penelope Carstairs is an enigma. Tough as nails and a risk taker to the extreme, Penna's story focuses on her emotional recovery from betrayal by her sister Brooke while she falls in love for the first time. This is also the story of Rebel (Penelope/Pennas' alter ego) as she works to become the first female to complete a double back-flip.

When we catch up with the Renegades, they are continuing their Studies at Sea program and the documentary that is filling aboard the ship. In this 3 month stretch focused on South America and the Caribbean the crew is joined by professor Cruz Delgado, a man who experienced a too brief encounter with Penelope. Their connection drives this delicious forbidden romance story-line.

I love the teacher student trope and Rebecca Yarros delivers some serious angst in Penn and Cruz's romance. There's a lot a stake, much more than grades and pride. Cruz is keeping a secret that could mean imprisonment and possibly life or death, while Penna finds herself keeping secrets from the only "family" she trusts. The time that Cruz and Penna fight their feelings for each their, trying to play by the rules, makes for a steamy and fun read. The story is well paced and Yarros is so great at filling out the characters, giving them backstories that make you understand their decisions and what motivates them. The story is told from both their points of view and we quickly recognize Cruz as a noble and genuine man.

Once again the action is phenomenal and I felt my stomach do flips as the team does some base jumping/flying and Penna attempts her jumps. There are a few harrowing moments when his predicament creates anxiety I hadn't imagined Penna could withstand, and vice versa. These two adrenal junkies are a perfect match. 4.5 Stars are recommendation!

Rebecca Yarros' Renegades are not to be missed! I really enjoyed Wilder, loved Nova, and couldn't wait for Rebel. I may have a new favorite RY read, well, a second favorite.

Rebel is Penna's story and I couldn't wait to see what was in store for this Renegade. Penna is trying to get back that something that's been missing since her injury. When she encounters Cruz, there's an undeniable attraction. With some added twists, the pages will keep turning to see just what happens next with Cruz and Penna. We travel around South America, making our way towards Cuba, with action, romance, and secrets in the forefront.

Yarros ends her Renegades trilogy with a very satisfying conclusion. I truly enjoyed each of the three books in this trilogy and am a little sad to say good-bye.
