A fascinating look at Fdr at this tumultuous political time we live in this book is a look at a president who led our country the complex issues he faced the real man who faced much and was strong in his convictions. An excellent read for all students of history. Thanks #netgalley.#Viking for advance copy,
Amazing but there is still room for another biography of Franklin D Roosevelt. This one is terrific. A five star read.
I received a free Kindle copy of Franklin D. Roosevelt: A Political Life by Robert Dallek courtesy of Net Galley and Penguin Group Viking, the publisher. It was with the understanding that I would post a review to Net Galley, Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and my nonfiction book review blog. I also posted it to my Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google Plus pages.
I requested this book as I have an interest in presidential biographies and I have read a number on Franklin Roosevelt. I have read a number of biographies by Robert Dallek.
This book is well written and well researched as I have found with other biographies that Dallek has written. The main emphasis of the book is on Roosevelt's presidency covering the Great Depression and World War II. He does a good job of covering the political philosophy if FDR and his penchant for being more astute to the political environment than many of is peers. While Dallek does not dwell on FDR's personal life to the extent of some other authors, he does cover the relationships he had with various advisors adequately.
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in learning more about the political thinking of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
