There is so much practical advice in this book. So much wisdom. I thought I had an idea what they would talk about in the book and was skeptical about how deep it could go. It surpassed my expectations... once it got to Part 2. I almost gave up on the book in part 1. I felt like important details were not where they should be at the beginning of the book. Definitions of words often used that I felt deserved a definition based on just how much they were talking about them (and talking about them in a way assuming people reading would just get the drift...) I was confused. I felt like I would start to understand what was going on but then the author would tell a story that derailed the flow of the previous section. I had a hard time focusing on it. But I plugged through. I got to part 2 and it was a breath of fresh air. this is what I expected from this book... and so much more. I love how scripture is a major part of every topic. The author gives pertinent personal stories and references other books. Sections are divided into manageable bites so the reader can chew on what they've just read. The flow is good from topic to topic and I no longer feel confused. InsteAd I feel challenged by the book. I want to implement these things in my life and am excited to do what God does with it. It seems like God is trying to get me to understand that everything is in his time. When God opens the door no one can shut it type stuff. This book is an encouragement and a motivator to keep going. Stick with part one and part 2 and beyond will blow you away!
I was honored to be part of the launch team for this book and received a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to post a positive review.

Clay Scroggins writes in an a way that empowers yet leaves readers without any excuses—we all have influence, so what are we doing with it?
How to Lead When You're Not in Charge challenges those within organizations to not wait around to be put in the drivers seat, but to be stewards of their influence right where they are. This is what leadership is. Whether you work in a church organization, or just the business world, this book empowers anyone in any position to lead in the areas they have been given, even if that is not the corner office.
Scroggins writes with humor, humility, and honesty. His vast experience both as the lead pastor of Northpoint Community Church as well as various positions in the professional world give him a great amount of expertise that he shares in a compelling way.
As a young professional, I can't wait to recommend this title to my colleagues and friends!

To me, this is the most excellent book about how to lead. I've read quite a few books on leadership, but this one really spoke to me. I would recommend it to everyone, really! We all need to hear the content in this book now or at some point in our journey. Believe me, you'll want to read this now as opposed to later. Clay lays out practical ways to be a better leader and I felt convicted to change many of my current approaches. I underlined and starred so many good points. This is definitely a book my husband and I will pass on. I found 'Part 3: Challenging Authority' most helpful in the current stage of my life.
