I wasn't able to read this book in time to give a proper review.
Great book! Full of suspense, danger, and plenty of twists and turns. The plot and characters were interesting. It was fine as a stand-alone but would probably be better if read in order of series. It was certainly entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Skye shows up on the Brotherhood's doorstep determined to see the person who beat up her brother dead. Finn and his brothers convince her that is not the best option. Finn and Skye fall in love while bringing down the bad guys. I look forward to other books in this series.
If you love sexy stories with romance, intrigue and suspense, then I recommend you read "Hard Run". This is my favorite genre, so not sure if I am partial or impartial, but I loved this book! Flinn and Skye's story was full of action, suspense, romance, with military heroes that make up 'The Brotherhood'. A real page turner leading to their HEA, there were so many twists and turns, it just made their story a fun read. I look forward to reading more of the series and want to go back and read "Hard Play" as I somehow missed this one. I would like to thank NetGalley and Entangles Pub. LLC for gifting me "Hard Run". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Star!
This is the second book in the Delta Force Brotherhood series. I’m so in love with the men in this series! This book is fast-paced, suspenseful, with some twists; I also found it hard to get any sleep while this is up on my kindle. This story could be read as a standalone, but just because of the sexiness factor you should read “Hard Play” the first in the series anyways. When the police won’t help her, Skye turn’s to the Brotherhood for help. After Skye walks into the Devil’s Playground looking for help; she gets more than she bargains for. Finn has been assigned to help protect Skye; she is determined to get her revenge on the town’s drug dealing biker gang who beat her brother into a coma. I liked Skye’s character teamed up with Finn, they made a great team. Finn is such an honorable sexy man; he kept her from going to the dark side and taking her revenge too far. I loved the action the author brought to the book and the sexy scenes were hot. If you like military romance with hot alpha warrior men that make you tingle in all the right places, this is the book for you.

Hard Run is a sexy, suspenseful tale. Skye needs help getting a gang of drug dealers out of her town, the gang that put her brother in the hospital and in a coma. When she goes to Vegas to seek the Brotherhood's help, she doesn't get what she wants - help with her quest for vengeance. She does get their agreement to take down the gang and send them to prison and protection for Robby while he's in the hospital. She never expected to meet Finn, a man who will not only help take down The Wolf's Teeth, but will protect her and take her heart, too.
I really enjoyed both Finn and Skye. Finn is a sweet, alpha of a man with a huge heart. And Skye, wow, she's amazing - strong, tough and fiercely protective of those whom she loves. She worked multiple jobs all to help Robby get his degree. She gave up her own dreams of going to school and having a career all so Robby could flourish. And then what did he do? Landed them in trouble with a drug dealing, violent gang. Poor Skye. But, she never buckled, never felt sorry for herself, never gave up on Robby. And that's exactly why Finn fell so hard for her. I love their connection, love how much they fell for each other while they were working on taking down the gang. Hard Run is exactly the type of romantic suspense I like - fast paced and sexy with badass alphas with big hearts, and smart, tough heroines who can take care of themselves. I'm really looking forward to more from Sheryl Nantus and the Brotherhood.
Hard Run by Sheryl Nantus is the second book in her Delta Force series and the first book that I've read by this author. It's a good romantic suspense book with characters whose motivations I'm easily able to identify with, understand and believe. (I'm really good with thoughts of vengeance). I enjoyed the romance between Skye and Finn and found this book to be a good, enjoyable read.
An arc of this book was generously provided to me by Entangled Publishing LLC and Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review
Hard Run is the second story in Sheryl Nantus's Delta Force Brotherhood romantic suspense series. The men in the brotherhood share the common mission of going in to help others where regular law enforcement stays away. They run a nightclub in Las Vegas, The Devil's Playground, as cover for their real missions. The first story in the standalone series, Hard Play, saw an ex-cop tangle with a crime boss and the brotherhood's leader, Dylan, helping in her rescue (and falling for her along the way). In this story, the drug trade is front and center in a small town with a woman determined to get rid of the motorcycle gang responsible, one way or another.
Skye Harris's brother Robbie has made some mistakes in his life, but an unwitting stint as a drug mule ended with him hospitalized and in a coma. She wants revenge, and through a friend she hears about the brotherhood and approaches them to help her kill the man responsible for her brother's injuries. The brotherhood isn't in the assassination game, and refuse her request, but offer her something better – the chance to get rid of the gang ruining her town. And Finn Storm is just the man to do it.
Finn's ready to go undercover on this latest mission, armed with the latest technology to gather the evidence needed to disrupt the gang's activities. He's got personal reasons for wanting to see a key drug point man behind bars. His mother died of a drug overdose from a prescription drug addiction that went too far, and he wants nothing more then to see men responsible for these kind of crimes pay their dues. But he also knows that the desire for revenge can eat someone from the inside out, and doesn't want Skye to live with that feeling. His admiration for Skye does nothing to temper the growing sexual attraction between them. In close proximity and after the same goal, it's not long before they succumb to their feelings in some sexy love scenes. But with the danger around them increasing, will they live long enough to pursue a real relationship?
I really enjoyed this story! The pacing is well done and kept me interested from start to finish – in fact, I had trouble putting it down! Skye's dedication to her brother is clear from the very start. They lost their parents when they were younger and she's been taking care of him since. She'd never finished her own college degree to ensure her brother could finish his, and works a few different jobs to keep them afloat. She's a strong, independent woman and not used to being able to lean on anyone, so Finn's presence is something she appreciates but is wary of becoming used to. For Finn, who is not used to letting someone in, sharing time and conversation and intimate moments with Skye leads to deeper feelings. But at the same time he's doesn't feel he has anything to offer her long term. They both fight a losing battle when it comes to keeping their hearts intact.
The plot heats up as Finn's undercover work leads to some suspense filled scenes. Things work out in the end (whew!) and Finn and Skye get their happy ending, but not without some last minute challenges. Hard Run is an intense, sexy, and action packed read!
Review has been posted at Amazon, BN and Kobo. It has been featured at Straight Shootin' Book Reviews and feedback updated with the link.
Hard Run is the second in Sheryl Nantus’ Delta Force Brotherhood series, but, although there is a carryover of characters this can definitely be read as a standalone as Hard Run involves its own mystery and adventure and set of characters.
Much of the novel is gripping with an intriguing story of how Finn and Skye (and the rest of the Brotherhood) are going to bring down the biker gang that has been terrorizing the small town. While there were some gaps in logic, Hard Run is a quick, entertaining read with two likable main characters.
After the action climaxed, the ending took a little too long in arriving for this reader without any surprises to support the drawing out.

3 1/2 stars
Skye Harris would do anything to get revenge on the people that hurt her brother, so turning up on the doorstep of the Devil's Playground and asking Finn Storm and the rest of the Brotherhood for their help in taking down a gang may be her only possibility of success. But the more time she spends with Finn and the deeper he gets into his investigation, the more worried she becomes for his life, especially with the plan he has. Will Finn be able to protect Skye, or will she get caught in the crossfire as Finn does everything he can to bring down the gang forever?
Just like the first book of this series, I found this story captivating, fast-paced and a wonderful read that had me enjoying the main characters because the heroine is desperate for revenge and willing to do whatever it takes to get it, even though Finn and the Brotherhood are determined to make sure Skye doesn't go as far as she wants her revenge to go. Will Skye listen to reason? The way this story started had me empathizing with the heroine, as her brother means a lot to her and she would do anything for him, even if it means putting her life in danger to make sure that those hurt him pay for what they've done. Will Skye be able to dismantle the gang with the help of the hero and his friends?
As for the dialogue, it was riveting and kept me entertained from start to finish, because the heroine is driven by emotion and revenge due to what's going on with her brother. Will her brother be all right or will Skye want revenge even more? Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was in her plans for revenge, even though revenge can leave a mark on the soul, which is something Finn knows all too well because of what happened to his mother and the way he wanted revenge on the person he believed was responsible. I also liked how the heroine handled herself under pressure when the moment calls for it. Can she outthink those that want to hurt her?
While the hero, he's confident; determined to help Skye in her pursuit for revenge, even though he's not willing to go as far as she hopes for; and I liked how protective he was of the heroine because he knows things could get out of control with how far she wants to go to shut down the gang. Will Finn and the others of the Brotherhood be able to talk Skye out of her plans? I also liked the tight bond of the men of the Brotherhood and how good they work together to solve the kind of cases they pursue for people that the police can't help. Certainly, Finn has some cool gadgets he uses to get information he needs that he can't get anyway else, not without putting himself in danger.
Overall, Ms. Nantus has delivered a splendid read in this book, which had the perfect blend of romance and suspense; where the chemistry and romance was explosive; and the ending, especially the epilogue wrapped this story up nicely because Finn is determined to convince Skye that he needs her in his life. Then again, the decision Skye makes about her future proves she needs Finn in her life just as much as he needs her in his life. I would recommend Hard Run by Sheryl Nantus, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the revenge trope, or books by authors Misty Evans, Tee O'Fallon, Katie Reus and Laura Griffin.
When Skye Harris shows up on the Devil's Playground's doorstep asking the Brotherhood for help with a gang taking over her hometown, it's time for Finn Storm to step up. The bikers might be tough but he's tougher – and armed with Brotherhood tech and a warrior's heart he's going to get the job done, no matter what or who stands in his way.
The one weak spot in his plan is in his heart––Skye gets under his skin like no other woman has and she's not going to let him take all the danger on his shoulders alone. But when she's caught in the crossfire Finn has to decide whether to follow his heart or his carefully crafted plan to not only clean up the town but heal his soul.
This was a very fast paced, on the go book. Kind of kept you on the edge of your seat and didn't let go. For fans of Suzanne Brockmann, I would say that you'd love this book. It was deep when you needed it to be and light when you wanted it to be. My favorite line of all was "I'm going to kill a man for you." Well, who wouldn't swoon at that. I sure would and did!!! Skye was a unicorn heroine and Finn just nailed it as an Alpha hero. Together they were perfect! This is a book I'll definitely read more than once.
I was given an ARC from the publisher/author/NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.
Skye Harris has given up her dreams to raise her brother and make sure his dreams come true. Now, it’s 10 years later, she’s deeply in debt and working multiple jobs. Her brother has graduated from college and has no job prospects. He gets mixed up with the local MC transporting drugs and ends up in an alley, severely beaten, overdosed on heroin, with the needle still in his arm. He’s in the hospital in a coma, barely hanging on, and Skye goes looking for revenge. She finds Finn and The Brotherhood.
Devil’s Playground is a bar that fronts for The Brotherhood that is Delta Force, a group of former military men. They help those who have nowhere else to turn.
Finn is immediately drawn to Skye and feels his protective instincts come out. Dylan, the head of The Brotherhood, assigns Finn to help Skye. Finn follows Skye back to her small hometown and begins his investigation.
This is a romantic suspense with a predictable plot line. It was easy to pick out the “hidden” snitch early on. I found part of the ending questionable but can’t give details without giving it away. Having said that, still a decent read.
This is the second book in the series but my first. I easily read this as a standalone but I’m sure there is more information on the members of Delta Force and the forming of The Brotherhood that would have been good to know going into this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.
OMG! This book. Finn. Skye. Suspense. Romance. The unknown. A brotherhood of ex-military heroes that fight the good fight. Yes, this book has it all for me. I will admit that I didn’t read Dylan and Jessie’s book but trust me, everything is explained in the beginning. However, I’m intrigued by their story so I bought the other book.
The biggest impression that the book left me was how strong Skye was. Typically in romantic suspense, the heroine needs to be saved some how but not our Skye. I felt her anger and frustration when it came to the gang and especially its leader. I loved how one of the gang member’s, Jake played in the story. In the end, though, I didn’t feel sorry for him. Robby, Skye’s brother, is a major character (in some ways) and I liked how he progressed in the story. The ending with kinda broke my heart but I understood why he did it.
The romance between Finn and Skye is believable. It could have been instalove, which I hate, but in the end, it was sweet. Neither one of them was looking for it and it just kinda snuck up on them. In my opinion, Finn had the most to achieve in that department. He wasn’t cut off from relationships but he felt like his job would get in the way. Skye, on the other hand, loved him with her whole heart and near the end of the book, I wondered how she was going to just leave her heart with Finn and move on.
For a suspense book, there isn’t that much action until the very end. Ms. Nantus does an awesome job with the scenes in the diner. 😉 Plus, we get the final showdown with the gang leader. Ouch! Skye proved her mantle with me and I will say that she is one of the strongest heroines in romantic suspense that I’ve read in a long time.
Do yourself a favor and read this book. It’s emotional, at times gritty with a great romance between two realistic characters that you will love in the end. I feel that Trey’s book is next but I could be wrong. Loved him.
Please note: I received a copy of HARD RUN from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.
Five stars and here’s why:
HARD RUN is a page-turning, sexy story with a sassy, but sweet heroine and a hella-hot Delta Force Brotherhood member. LOVED IT!
This is my first book in the DELTA FORCE BROTHERHOOD series, but it is the second book in series by Sheryl Nantus. I will definitely read more of her work. You don’t have to read the first book in the series to enjoy this story. What I liked about HARD RUN wasn’t just the sexy scenes, but it brought to light a thought-provoking question: How far would you go if the only person left in your life was beaten, left for dead, and remains in a coma?
Resourceful and hard-working Skye Harris begs the Delta Force Brotherhood (DFB) to help snuff out a drug gang out of her hometown. She has visions of killing the drug gang leader who tried to murder her younger brother. Skye and her brother were orphaned and trying to make ends meet without much success. Skye was unaware that her brother resorted to drug running for a gang out of desperation for money to pay their mounting debt. The Delta Force Brotherhood are a bunch of bikers who step in when law enforcement fails, but they’re not killers, so they refuse Skye’s request for revenge, but offer to take down the gang and return order to her hometown. Finn Storm is assigned to Skye’s case and sparks fly when these two meet! Skye melts Finn’s toughened heart and he helps shoulder her heavy burdens as they take down a notorious game with help from the DFB.
If you like sassy and sweet heroines plus hella-hot, alpha heroes, HARD RUN is for you. Highly recommend.
Sheryl Nantus is a new author for me making Hard Run a double pleasure. First, I enjoyed this romantic suspense story immensely which means, secondly, I have a new author’s work to read in my favorite genre. Since this is the second book in the Delta Force Brotherhood, of course, I had to go looking for the first book, finding it on sale. Yeah! Can’t say if it still is but this series is worth the cost.
I completely understood shy Skye’s need for revenge but it was refreshing to see that the Brotherhood is not a vigilante group. They are a group that helps to seek justice for those who have nowhere else to turn as in Skye’s case by helping to put the criminals in jail.
I found it to be very strong in the suspenseful action and danger with twists and turns. The romance is on a slower sizzle. This is more like I envision it would be. I liked Skye’s loyalty to her brother. Finn is a remarkable level headed tough guy able to do the undercover work. A page turner book that made me a believer in the Delta Force Brotherhood.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.
What would you do if the person you care for is beaten and left in a coma? Who would you go to for help?
Skye Harris was put into a predicament that she must ask the same questions. But in her case the help that she needed come with the assistance of the Brotherhood. A group who specialize in the help that Skye needs that the police refused or their hands were tied in giving.
Sheryl Nantus will capture readers in her thriller of revenge and betrayal. What drew me in was the Synopsis of the book. But what had me tuned in until the very last page was the characters. Even though the book was about Finn and Skye the whole cast of characters will leave you asking for more.
I didn’t have the pleasure of reading the 1st book in Sheryl Nantus’ Delta Force series. So, Hard Run being the 1st title I read by this author. Hard Run felt like a stand-alone title. Going through the book I didn’t feel like I was lost in the going on with the characters. Though I am drawn to reading the first book to see how the Devil’s Playground was formed.
The always tricky 2nd book in a series is nowhere to be seen in this brilliantly crafted tale.
Skye needs help taking down the drug dealing motorbike gang which has taken over her hometown, corrupted and beaten her baby brother. She ends up at the Devils Playground, after being pointed in that direction by a nurse at the hospital. She is out for blood but she may not get the level of revenge she was hoping for.
Finn has his own complicated and emotional past tied up with drugdealers. He knows there is reason he gets these jobs, he has the motivation to see it through to the end. He won't kill the gang leader but he will make sure that he pays for his evil deeds.
With treachery from someone close to home, Skye has a lot on her plate including multiple jobs. Finn fits seamlessly into her life whilst providing 24hr body-guarding and trying to inveigle his way into becoming the gangs new mule. But things get complicated when they give in to the attraction they feel for each other.
Great story mixing together a criminal bike gang, drug dealers, deep family bonds and a great chemistry between the lead characters. I want more!!!
I received an advance copy of this book. This tension filled romance is a must read. From the moment Skye and Finn met there were sparks flying between them. The kicker of the "mole" at the end wasn't overly shocking but did add to the story and although the books skips through periods of time without some details it is definitely worth the read.
Skye's brother is in a coma in the hospital and she knows who put him there but she isn't strong enough to take them down herself. So she goes to the Brotherhood, people who help those that can't help themselves. Finn is one of the Brotherhood and he's assigned to her case. Her story is too close to his own but he vows to protect her and bring the MC gang of drug dealers to justice. They have great chemistry with each other and before long are involved in a red hot relationship. Great romantic suspense read!
This second outing the Brotherhood series is a worthwhile followup to the first, and starts off strong. Skye is desperate for someone to help her by killing the head of a local motorcycle gang who is responsible for bringing drugs into the small town in the California desert where she lives with her brother, Robby. He was beaten and left for dead after what should have been a lethal overdose of heroin and is currently in a coma. Skye knows that he would never willingly do drugs and she figures out that the Wolf (aka Mick Smith) is the man responsible for what happened to Robby, and she wants him dead.
She approaches the Brotherhood to ask them to kill the Wolf, and is stunned when they refuse. As former military, they know that killing isn't always the answer. But they will help put the gang in jail, and Finn is sent in to investigate undercover. Wyatt and Ace go along to help protect Robby in the hospital, which is a good thing as the gang already has members waiting in case he wakes up. Finn tries to ingratiate himself with the group hoping to pick up the courier 'job' Robby held, while trying to protect Skye.
And of course, how will he protect her? Why, by staying with her in her apartment...in Robby's bedroom at first...but not for long!! (This review was getting WAY too serious, wasn't it??!) Now I don't want to give any more away, so you will just have to read it for yourself but I can safely say I'm sure you will all enjoy it too!
