This was 2017 (I believe) net galley read that younger me obviously didn't take very seriously. However, I'm a huge fan of Priscilla Shirer her works are great and will truly have you working their your relationship with God or at least thinking about it in a different light. These devotions will make you spend the time to think about him and work on your prayer life.
Priscilla Shirer's devotional is a wise choice, offering daily insights from the heart, ready to Awaken and fortify your soul.
This book was amazing! So many nuggets of wisdom that can be applied to our everyday living. Priscilla Shirer is truly an annointed woman of God and it shows in everything that she publishes. I recommend this book to any and everyone who desires a closer and more fulfilling relationship with the Lord!
Priscilla Shirer is not only a beautiful wordsmith but someone who speaks with power and authority. This book has an easy to follow structure and the daily writings are just the right length to be challenging but not overwhelming.
I always enjoy reading Priscilla Shirer's books, and this one was certainly no different. It wasn't my favorite book by her--that might still go to her book on hearing the voice of God. Or maybe her book on Gideon. She's just so amazingly talented and every book she writes will challenge you, convict you, and take your faith outside of your comfort zone. I don't want to say too much because you really just need to take the time to experience her writing. Make time to be able to digest it, keep a highlighter and pencil handy, and for goodness sake pray for God to move! He showed up in mighty ways for me through this book. I'm sure He will for you too.
This is exactly what you would expect from Priscilla Shirer. It is well written, deep and encouraging. It is grounded in the truth of scripture and points you directly to God.
This is exactly what the world needs more of. I am convinced that any words Priscilla chooses to put on paper, I will choose to read. I am grateful for the way she uses her gifts to encourage and inspire the world. Do yourself a favor, buy this for yourself and then buy copies to gift to others.
The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts
I am a fan of Priscilla Shirer and this book was amazing! This devotional is well written and relatable. It feels as if I'm sitting at a coffee shop with Priscilla and we're talking about the things in the book face to face. I love the fact that she gives space to write out my thoughts as well. I loved it and definitely recommend it.
In her devotional book, Awaken: 90 Days With The God Who Speaks, Priscilla Shirer does a wonderful job of writing devotionals that are intent on making your prayer life more intentional and fruitful. They are short, yet Biblically grounded. I found them to be a perfect way to start my day. She used insights from her own personal journals and journey with the Lord, to bring home her chosen scriptures for the day. There is space for you to write down your reflections as well.
I highly recommend this book for anyone hoping to enrich their personal prayer and devotion time. It also would be a wonderful gift to give.
Great spiritual exhortations and encouragement. The author has insights that are inspirational.
Wonderful devotions for reading each morning. As you read you can also out hear Priscilla 's voice speaking the words. I really enjoyed this book.
Priscilla Shirer's "Awaken" is a perfect tool for the person who wishes to begin or maintain a daily quiet time discipline. I incorporated it into my daily prayer time, and it greatly enriched my time with God. Additionally, I believe that it would be a great small-group or accountability group tool. Priscilla's way with words is truly anointed and brings fresh insight into God's word.
So first the aesthetics, it’s a hardback, big enough to see the font, yet small enough to fit in a bag and take with you. The devotional is actually a journaling devotional so there’s plenty (like 2 pages) worth of space to write your reflection and even a prayer as well. The devotional lasts roughly three months. Could be longer if you choose to only read Monday-Friday. It’s well written in such a way that as I was reading it was almost like I could hear Priscilla’s voice speaking those very words. The words are personal and intimate as though she’s speaking with a friend. I usually take with me to work so on my lunch breaks I can read and reflect. I have already recommended to several friends, especially those who enjoy Priscilla’s teaching.
Priscilla Shirer is amazing so I knew this devotional would be the exact same. I had just finished her Armor of God Bible study at church so I was really excited to pick this up. I loved it, I really did. However, the Armor of God study blew me away so I was hoping for just a bit more. That is probably unfair because these are not meant to be meatly, long studies each day. Even so, I would highly recommend this as a daily devotional, along with anything else Priscilla puts out there!
Awaken by Priscilla Shirer is a great devotional that you will want on your bookcase. Beautifully written, topics that will touch your heart and help your relationship with God grow.
I’m not much of a devotional reader but I love Priscilla Shirer’s other writing so I decided to check it out. It’s full of scripture and Godly wisdom. The layout is great. Love the questions at the end of each day. They take you from just reading a devotional and being done to digesting and processing what you just read.
I was a bit distracted by the crazy long sentences. It made some of the information a bit hard to read and understand easily. I found myself having to reread things. Other than that it was a great devo.
I received a digital copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I have thoroughly enjoyed several of Priscilla Shirer's Bible studies, so I was very excited to dig in to Awaken, her first book of devotions. I was pleased to find that her devotionals are as powerful as her Bible studies. The topics were pertinent, and the truths she shared were powerful. I highly recommend this book.
In her first devotional book ever, Awaken: 90 Days With The God Who Speaks, Priscilla has written 90 devotions that can transform your life, if you let them sink deep into your soul. These devotions were culled from the personal insights of Priscilla’s journals based on her own time with God over the course of many years. They reflect the heart of a woman who knows and loves God, who has a long-standing personal relationship with Him – they type of women we should all aspire to be.
I’ve read a lot of wonderful devotionals over the years, and Awaken by Priscilla Shirer deserves its place among the best of them!
I highly recommend this book to you!
Wow, another amazing book by an amazing woman of God, in humility and grace that God uses to speak to us His truths. This book is set up in 90 different days with different subjects that you will find yourself resonating with. At least that’s what happened to me. One day I had read the reading for that day and then was in a conversation with a friend who mentioned the struggle of that day and I just handed her my kindle to read that days reading and she was SO blessed! Praise the Lord! One of my favorites that hit home for me and was such a visual that I just loved was day 8. It has to do with circus animals and the circles that train them and being set free only to find themselves struggling to break away from the circles of habits. I highly recommend this book and this author to you.

A powerful devotional that draws you closer to our Lord. These devos can be transforming as you sit and soak in His presence.
I really enjoyed this devotional. It was so encouraging and most mornings, it had exactly what I needed to hear for that day. It's amazing how God works that out! This book would make a great gift for any woman looking for a fresh word from God.
