This is a new full length book combining two previously published novellas. At the Edge and Edge of Surrender kick off a new series about a team of Alpha SEAL's and the women who win their hearts. This book is the story of Emma Wright and Ryan Owens. When Emma's plane goes down in a jungle in the Philippines, Ryan is part of the team that goes in for the rescue mission. Emma is the soke survivor and Ryan is the one who finds her and gets her out of that jungle alive. A few months later, back in the states it seems that a cover up about what really happened to the plane is in play and Emma is trying to get to the bottom of the situation and find out why. She seeks out Ryan trying to get the truth out there not realizing the danger she is putting herself in doing this. It doesn't take long for danger to find her then she once again finds herself being saved by Ryan. They may have been able to ignore the attraction they felt before but now they are spending a lot of time together and ignoring it is no longer an option!

This is a fantastic start to what should be an amazing series. It's fast paced, high action, and twists and turns in the story that keep you reading page after page. It has a great group of characters and should give us some amazing stories. I highly recommend this one!

Fast paced book with a good plot line. I'm a fan of series books, and would definitely read the third. Good book if you want a quick, easy read full of action and a bit of romance. https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/9258396?shelf=2017&utm_campaign=mybooksnav&utm_content=mybooks_cta&utm_medium=web&utm_source=homepage

These two books read as if they were the first two chapters in a longer book .
As standalones they seem to be missing something .
The Author usually writes terrific , fast paced thrillers with a romantic theme that I usually enjoy .....with excellent characters , that you can relate to and with a good plot .
The sex scenes in theses two books seemed to be there as fillers - not to connect you to the characters and their emotions .
Book 1
Emma Wright's plane is brought down in the jungle in the Phillipines ...........all the others aboard are killed .
A ultra -elite Seal team , Alpha Crew, led by Ryan Owen are sent in to rescue any survivors .
They find that not all were killed in the crash , the pilot had been shot in the head ...... Emma is missing .
The race to find and rescue her before the killers do is on .
Ever resourceful Emma manages to remain hidden until Ryan discovers her and with his crew manages her extraction back to the USA ........the attraction between them is instantaneous but can go nowhere .
After being de-briefed Emma discovers that the Pilot is being held to blame for the crash , that it was an accident .She resolves to clear his name - she knows that it was not an accident and not his fault .
BUT there are those who do not want the truth to come out and are determined that Emma cease her actions whatever the cost, even her life .
Ryan torn between his duty and his desire for Emma must find a way to keep her safe from her invisible enemy , whilst she seeks the answers .

Book 2

After a night of passion Emma takes off leaving Ryan high and dry .......He is not the only one looking for her and must find her before the enemy on her trail does first .
Emma is still fighting for justice , seeking the truth - which might be closer to home than she thought .
She realises that she needs help from Ryan and together the seek to find truth of the crash......their attraction grows evermore powerful . Can they hope to find a future together and to survive the forces after them ?

These books , as I said above, read as chapters in a longer novel - whilst I felt the characters were a little flat I feel that the coming books about the rest of the Alpha Crew will provide a light enjoyable read if the Author gives the them more depth .

I have been trying to find the words to help me explain the only sentence I can give this book.
It is what it is.
The story has lots of action readers come to expect from military style romantic suspense stories as well as sex. What I found lacking in this story was the character development. Over half way though the story and I still didn't understand why Ryan and Emma were together. In fact at one point she asked the same question. I get why he was helping her it what anyone in the military does they help when help is needed. They had sex and more sex as the bad guys were chasing Emma down.
As a reader the sex was nothing more than filler when instead Laura Griffin could have been building the characters helping readers connect with Ryans team mates. I struggled to connect with Emma she was suppose to be a strong female character instead she made stupid decisions.
As a reader I want to connect with the characters instead I found them flat and the story is another one of the many hot alpha male story built around sex and action. When everything dies down I am pretty sure theses two characters will end up leaving each other. Even though the author leaves ready with a happy ending.
This story is what is. Nothing special. Nothing memorable and a quick sexy beach read for those who do not need substance.
Edge of Surrender lacks story and writing I have enjoyed by Laura Griffin in the past.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the advance copy.

It was so convenient having both parts of Ryan's and Emma's story together in one book. Ryan's part of an elite Seal team, they seem to have an even closer relationship then normal. They are truly there for each other no questions asked anytime. Luckily for Emma, because without Ryan and his team her life would have been a lot shorter.
